What are some good ideas for a metal kineticist? Branching out to fire and air for mobility? Earth or wood for tankyness?Because metal alone is anemic in terms of feats.
Can non-casters use/craft magic items in 2e?

So I'm thinking of doing something silly with a Verminous Hunter. Can a giant slug, once he's smart enough, take Overwatch Style and spam mean spits?
>>98197372...Wait, can you use Vital Strike on the spit?
Really getting sick and tired of this system>longterm 1-20 campaign ends>do other campaigns>now they want to do a "sequel" campaign in the dutchy of the previous heroes>want to link it to previous campaign>think it'd be cool for them to be sent to fulfill one of the old characters' dying wish before he passes of old age>would be really cool and related to finding a way for him to keep his eidolon in the afterlife>one player: "UMMM ANON ACTUALLY I CAN JUST CAST PIC RELATED AND HE WOULDN'T ACTUALLY BE DEAD">already have a running precedent of allowing anything paizo published so it'd be kinda contrived to ban this one>cool campaign idea completely ruined by a retarded spell meant to take away one of the few limitations of resurrection magicI guess I could still use it since he would still have to die and come back as a young child. But it just feels like it takes all the emotional weight out of the concept.
In 1e when you use the umonk's flying kick style strike, can you jump as part of that movement? if so I assume you're limited to your monk's speed at that moment (in my case 30ft) long and high distance?
>>98197511Resurrection spells require the consent of the soul in question trying to be raised, if the person in question doesn't want to come back they're not forced to outside of something like a Wish or Miracle which explicitly break the usual standards of rules and logic.
>>98197690Well it's a PC so he would probably just say yeah I would want to be brought back. Especially since he can't accompany his eidolon into the afterlife anyway, as is.If I come up with plot device bullshit to allow that, no reason it couldn't also apply to rebinding him to his (new?) soul on the Material Plane as well.
>>98197745Just say ‘Pharasma said no’ and then if they get uppity threaten them with bog scary outsiders
>>98197372Should be possible, but you're not getting Overwatch Vortex any time soon and a hasted snail can already spit three times by lv 9 without the style feats. So there's not much benefit to actually grabbing the style on the slug. It's not exactly what you're after but if you pair Overwatch Style with Concentrated Fire on an Eldritch Guardian you can get a really mean familiar. >>98197379Paizo hates vital strike so no. "Attacks" are apparently different from "attack actions".
>>98197690>Resurrection spells require the consent of the soul in question trying to be raisedAnd Pharasma's. If her insight into fate says that someone needs to stay dead, they do.OOC that means you need both DM and player permission to res a PC.
I'm having a bunch of family coming to visit and was looking onto entry level games for us to play at night. I got Skulls. I was looking at Hot Streak, is that any good? Maybe they'll be able to handle Bomb Busters.
>>98197671Yeah. Any movement can be used to jump. Don't forget about the running start tho
>>98195702I think a Kineticist gets their power from how metallic bits interact with each other. By allowing other elements to interact with individual atoms of metal, you could make unique combinations. I'd suggest mixing in other atoms from other elements individually and thinking how they would each interact with metals, like Oxygen and Iron causing a rust effect on the opponents, or h2o causing some kind of blade that cuts through tough things, since water is a solvent and metal just focuses the stream.
>>98198626ummm>>>/tg/bgg/
>>98198911I was more asking mechanically, because I know I can describe stuff however I want but after a certain point solo metal kineticist mathematically runs out of feats worth taking.
2eI want to run FOTRP. Are there any suggested changes or edits before I add a few things in of my own?
>>98197671>>98198891Better question is whether PF carried over 3.5's ridiculous rule that your jump distance is limited to your total remaining movement, and if your jump distance exceeds it, you are in the air until the start of your next turn.
>2eBuild for maximizing your attack range?
Does anyone have a good build for an liturgist Animist. Going to spin one up for PFS, fancying Elf or at least half elf
>>98200820Arguably that's more a "vanilla Animist" build question thanks to how Liturgist is the best one. You have the most options all around, but I wouldn't say there's any one specific deal you should build around. If you want to just stick with a vanilla blaster/support mix, go with Steward of Earth and Fire as your primary apparition for most of the time and toss in either Custodian or Reveler for the additional battle support. Take up Channeler's Stance for more damage alongside Embodiment of the Balance. And you pretty much set for the most part.Archetypes can include something like Cavalier or Riventhun Involutionist for a companion you can ride and maneuver with until you reach 9th level for the leaps-on-sustain, Time Mage so you have a consistent way of keeping Haste on your spell lists, Ostilli Host or Fireworks Technician for good one-action "spells" to chain with your Vessel Spells, Fan Dancer or Pistol Phenom for general spellcaster defense support if you got some CHA to your name, or Acrobat so you can use your Acrobatics when you Leap.
>>98195852Yes but if the item you're trying to make requires casting a specific spell, you must still provide such a casting, either using a scroll or wand with the Trick Magic Item skill feat, or asking/paying a caster to cast it for you.A ton of magic items dont require a spell though, all you need is the Magical Crafting feat.
>>98200769The most reasonable build if you're looking to have range that'll be overkill in almost every combat encounter is probably just a plain old ranger with a longbow. Hunt Prey allows you to ignore the penalties from a weapon's second range increment, and longbows have a 100' range. I honestly don't recall a situation in all my years in either edition where I've ever felt the need for more than 200' of range. And, since it's literally just a base class feature and a weapon that's already good, you don't really need to build around it. Just make a longbow ranger and poof you've got some of the longest effective range in the game. If you happen to be in a game that'll run until level 20, rangers also reach the theoretical maximum range via Legendary Shot, which lets you ignore all penalties up to a weapon's max range. Gunslingers also have a version of this (Unerring Shot, available at level 18). If you really want max range, you could use a sukung instead of a longbow, which has a range increment of 200', meaning that you can attack at a range of up to 400' without penalty. From a practical standpoint I think that's overkill though, and giving up longbow's Reload 0 for an extra 200' you'll probably never use isn't a deal I'd take.Sniping Duo does something similar to Hunt Prey, with the Triangulate feat allowing you to ignore your penalty for attacking within the second range increment just like Hunt Prey does. Downside: your target needs to be in view of both you and your designated spotter. This does open up the ability to go gunslinger though, which is nice if you want a firearm. So in short: longbow ranger or gunslinger+Sniping Duo archetype are probably your best picks.
>haven't managed to have a session in two weeks>finally get together>arguing with player about AoO and flanking rules because we're dealing with 3D space now with wall climbing and flying>argue for about 20 minutes>another player asks why we're wasting time on this when player 1 can't attack because he already used his AoO last session (2 weeks ago real time)>player 1 spends another 15 minutes arguing that they didn't use their AoO until player 2 recounts the events along with quoting a one-liner player 1 made after killing a mook with the AoO they used up last session(again, 2 weeks ago).>"Oh right, my bad guys, let's just continue the game don't want to waste any time, right?"Should I give the NPCs guns?
>>98197774>>98198580I guess I could do that. I just feel like the players will get mad and say it's an asspull to force my campaign premise. I just really hate that they keep printing these spells that don't even really add anything good to the system, and anyone who wants them would just invent or homebrew them anyway.
I want to GM abomination vaults, and this is my first time doing an AP. Am I supposed to read the whole book first or read until the parts the sessions will go?
what happened to the repositories?
>>98204530I would recommend reading the complete AP at least once to understand what its going for in terms of pacing/story and to see if there's anything you want to change, since basically all Paizo APs have worthless filler or hilariously drop the ball in some aspects. After that you can probably stick to reading just the floor theyre on (and a little bit of the next one if you feel theyre gonna go down).
>>98204740I see. I was planning on doing exactly that as I want to inject some extra characters and stuff
>>98197511>already have a running precedent of allowing anything paizo published so it'd be kinda contrived to ban this oneok we figured out the problem, less whining next time please.
>>98204780Also look at the encounters, and feel free to rebalance a lot of them, especially the early ones.Just because AV is the best of the early 2e APs doesn't mean it's good. Running it as is will drown your party in a boss rush of blank rooms.
>>98203473They can complain that it's an asspull if they want. If they don't like your campaign, they're welcome to find someone else to GM for them. They're not gonna have a lot of luck with that. Also, it's possible for characters to just *not know* about specific spells. It's also possible that someone just doesn't want the effects of that specific spell, whether because they don't want to be a baby again, they don't want the risk of being some weird species, or because it conflicts with their sense of morals. Or because they just don't have 5,000 gold of some specific magical oils laying around.A quest to find the extraordinarily expensive specific material components for powerful magic is an extremely classic campaign premise.
>>98205748>They can complain that it's an asspull if they want. If they don't like your campaign, they're welcome to find someone else to GM for them. You sound like an insufferable cunt.
>>98204901>>98204740You know where I can get good images for the tokens to use on Foundry?
