My playgroup has begun to show interest about trying out systems other than D&D.I myself suggested it long ago, but nobody in my group wanted to play other games. Now they themselves are saying that we should try new ttrpgs.
Praise Be.
>>98195827And?You want suggestions for ttrpgs that are not D&D?You want us to hate your playgroup? Because I am cool with hating random people that I've never met online for the silliest of reasons. You want us to congratulate you for you bravery and originality?WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU WANT ANON?
>>98195853To be heard. Because I want to say I'm happy our group finally expands the games we play.Thank you for your attention.
>>98195853He's happy. If you were gif literate you would understand.
>>98195827Strangely, quite a lot of people like it when it is their idea to do something, even if it's already been suggested to them and it's something they want to do anyways. What's important is that they actually do it.
>>98195827No joy like this.I kick myself daily because I once had a group where 3/5 players wanted to play anything BUT 3.5/pf but we never deviated from them because the DMs (cunt) gf and her friend wanted to play “DenDee” specifically. At one point the group fractured, another player joined who was big into WoD, and the women left so it was literally 4/5 guys who were open to play anything on various days of the week. We had great times for about a year and I never appreciated it. But our DM began to slowly troon out and he got worn down DMing six different systems a year. We tried playing some of his homebrews and they were fun; but I was a problem player back then and kept rolling meme characters and resented railroading to the point where I just had to quit because I was no longer really bringing any fun to the table. Group broke up a month or so after. Only now looking back do I understand how rare it is to have so many experienced and grounded players in one room with that kind of flexibility.
>>98196384>on various days of the weekIf you manage to play on multiple days of the week, that alone is very fortunate.
>>98195827Were you running D&D rules-as-interpreted or house ruled? If house ruled, you already had your foot in the door in terms of moving beyond D&D.
>>98196871No one plays rules as written. Some people play rules-as-interpretedMost people play rules-as-interpreted-plus-houserules.That is the terrible secret behind D&D 5e. Nobody plays D&D 5e.
>>98196871House rules. Never even seen a group that doesn't adjust the rules a bit for the group's consensus and liking.
>>98196906>>98197387Good to know. So, what's the universal expectation any given person starting D&D for the first time is supposed to have, given that every table runs it differently?
>>98197533No one plays dnd, it sucks. Anyone playing "dnd" is playing a custom ttrpg that uses dnd framework.Generally speaking new players dont know anything anyway, and as such it doesnt matter what their rules expectations are, older players already know the dnd rules are garbage and that they are going to go in to a semi-custom game.Basically at this point its mostly marketing and people playing with strangers that follow the rules (which again, do suck)
>>98195827Glad they are ready to exspand out. What are y'all thinking about?
I will wait for either of the people I asked to respond, not some new anon jumping in to move the goalposts.
>>98198332My group were interested about Cyberpunk. So that will most likely be our group's next game.
>>98198729Honestly if you have a week you want to do a one shot, picking up 3.5e for a single session could be fun.
>>98198734Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. Sounds like easy way to try different systems, and expand the games we play.
>>98195827Congratulations anon. Godspeed.>>98195853He accomplished one of the hardest things ever: getting 5e players to play LITERALLY ANYTHING BUT 5e. It is a tremendous feat on par with surviving cancer or earning a Nobel prize.
>>98195853>Because I am cool with hating random people that I've never met online for the silliest of reasons. We can tellI think too many people on /tg/ forget that not every discussion is an argument
>>98203268It wouldn't happen as much if we went back to telling people to lurk more and telling 2016ers to fuck off
>>98198332>y'all
