>Do you have a group that plays /awg/s, or is this all just a dream?Solo games, all day, every day.
I've successfully gotten ~6 people in my local into Oathmark, since a lot of us had fantasy stuff sitting around waiting for a game.
>>98206361>Do you have a group that plays /awg/s, or is this all just a dream? It's just me and my brother. And when he isn't here, it's solo gaming.
Recently built my first ever miniaturesAny tips for first time painting?
>>98206449There's a lot of tutorials on youtube, Duncan's are worth following.
>QoTI actually do. A dude in my DnD group has the starter set for the same game I'm building. We've played a really low-point game to test the rules and will play more once I have my army built and painted.
>>98206449Duncans videos presume a lot. Look into "painting my first miniature" on Youtube instead. You'll need a primer to give yourself a basecoat to work from, I suggest using grey primer as it provides a nice neutral tone to paint over. Sometimes, in the case of Droids for you, it's a lot easier to buy a primer that is the same colour as your base coat. A sandy colour for your B1s and a gunmetal colour for your Super Battle Droids.
>>98206361>Do you have a group that plays /awg/s, or is this all just a dream? On and off again. I'm going to force e some friends to play next weekend. >>98206374I used to think that solo games were sad. But after playing one, I was like: this is really no different than playing a computer game.
>>98206449Nothing to do but dive in. Dry brushing and washes are cheat codes.
>>98207017>I used to think that solo games were sad. That still seems to be the majority opinion, but I'm glad you're sort of won over by the concept.
>>98206361TQ: play games with the wife, but trying to find people to play non-gw withtried frostgrave this weekend, had a lot of fun. it seems really bad for one off skirmish games, but i assume the negatives become positives with longer campaign play. Any opinions on any of the campaigns? trying to pick one and recruit some people to get through it
>>98206620they really don't if you start with his beginner videos. if you jump into a how to paint this specific guy tutorial, a little more. but he still gives the advice you did there, always starts with a primer, lists colors and brushes he uses at every step. not to shill him, a bunch of his stuff is behind a pay wall. even the video where he paints some of your droids
>>98207017>this is really no different than playing a computer game. The NPC's might be smarter in a solo tabletop.YMMV.
Right, ive been working on other things (and work) but id like to do a pledge and have /awg/ be my witness and judge. So ive got >>98191043 + some extra bushido stuff to paint, id like to pledge here that i will paint all of the bushido stuff before the end of the month. This includes:1 mermaid yokai1 jellyfish3 fishmen1 octopus man2 demon crabs3 small crabs1 big crab1 octopus lady yokaiif i dont get atleast 80% of the crew done by the end of the month then /awg/ may judge me.
>>98207149YOUR PLEDGE IS WITNESSED
>>98206361>full length windows to put anyone in the store on display>diversity>dangerhair>masksThis place gives me major ick.
Is there a good miniature line of normal humans that are Primaris proportioned? For kitbashing.>>98206361>tqEven a game of 40k is a trek for me. I'm not in podunk there's just no gaming scene.
>98207384>guy who hisses in pain at natural light
>>98207518YWNBAW no matter how much you passive aggressively vaguepost.
>TQJust me and my Pa. Lately though he just wants to grumble about old people stuff instead of doing anything.
>>98207600There's nothing passive nor vague about his post.
>>98207794newfag
>>98207384I agree. I don't even like the shelves. But the old dude setting up a board game gives me hope.
>>98207906Everyone else looks like they're playing TCG's
>>98207927Grim. Literally worthless flgs.
>>98207929The days of an LGS being useful to the community ended in the 90's, a few straggled into the early 2000's.But now the internet is the place to find other people to game with, and for most of us our own home is now the venue to play, the LGS was a convenience only to children who didn't have internet. So now the LGS has to shill whale product to survive, the community no longer needs the LGS, the LGS needs the community, so it does what it must to maximize profit to extend it's existence beyond it's natural lifespan, this is a big part of why they've shifted to chase grogs away and seek a newer audience comprised of those who will purchase anything as long as the merchant and/or corporation involved in thing are pandering to a popular political ideology.Enter MtG and D&D which have both gone balls deep on popular culture and woke pandering, which is why the majority of LGS's cater to MtG primarily as it is the one of those two which is biggest on frequent purchases and secondary market sales.
>>98206432Victrix sets are so nice and crispy man. How would you go about converting these into fantasy? Head, shield and weapon swaps would probably account for a lot. Maybe sculpting fur, cloak and greaves too on the mini?I'm once again asking if anyone here has WGA giant spiders and whether one could fit a WGA human rider on top of it?
>>98207384Lots of natural light is very pleasant to play under, but those other things you mentioned are quite ghastly
Is there any trove for cards from chapters for Elder scrolls call to arms?
TQ: Mostly solo but when the stars are right I get to play with my normies friends some Space/Sword Weirdos which they enjoy a lot.
>>98208551>human riderProbably? You might need to do some modifications but I don't see why they couldn't fit.
>people making AI generated photos of "painted" miniatures to post on FB groups For what purpose
>>98209136>people making AI generated photos to post on FB groupssame thing, mental illness
>>98209162well yes but until now it's mostly been "hey guys look how COOL this would be [slop image]" very insidious to move from that kind of almost innocent retardation to then pretending to paint stuff
>>98207384>full length windows to put anyone in the store on displayyeah not ideal>diversityWithin acceptable levels (1 per 20 whites)>dangerhairWithin unacceptable levels (1)>masksYou're retarded. A piece of cloth on your face is not going to hurt you, or surgeons wouldn't have been doing it for 200 yearsNot to mention pretty much the entirety of Asia does it every time there's a flu season and they're fine
>>98209136To see how a colour scheme looks on a miniature without spending time to paint a test mini?
>>98209136I've seen that stuff happen in Lego groups, where the AI generates stuff that is obviously not using actual pieces, thus defeating the whole purpose.I do not understand the mindset that leads to it.
>>98209116Biggest problem I think is that the human legs are longer than goblin legs, but from what I understood, the spiders legs are very poseable.
You can see the vision vs the product.Wonder if it's possible to give it a little wash
>>98209313The sculpt is a bit retarded, but yeah a better >>98208551>I'm once again asking if anyone here has WGA giant spiders and whether one could fit a WGA human rider on top of it?paint job would help. I don't think anyone has. You should post your results when you try it.
>>98209283They are. You could also just put larger saddles on them too.
>>98209321>>98209333I guess I'll have to do it then, damn it. The renaissance heavy cavalry set has 4 extra rider bodies and I intended to buy that set in any case. The giant spiders also have lots of sci-fi bits which would make for cool robot spiders if the spider cavalry project doesn't pan out.
>>98208896>Space/Sword WeirdosI have been shortlisting a load of games and I saw this one yesterday. I'm in the same boat of mostly solo, but what is it about these games that make it stand out for you?
Anyone have any opinions about Bushido? Dude is doing a starter day at my LGS and I'm thinking about attending. All I know about it is you blind bid attack/defense dice against each other, and that sounds cool to me.
>>98207953>our own home is now the venue to playDude nobody wants 9/10th of the player base of any game in our homes. You need public neutral ground to play.
>>98209434get better friends when i was a kid, i had to go to the store, hope someone was showing up, and they had the right game. I had to g o meet peoplenow, i have a group of six, we text chat to make sure we are all bringing the same game, and i trust all of them with my house key. you're right i dont want 90% of the fan base anywhere near me or my table, we just don't have to deal with spergs anymore
>>98207017Considering that in most video games of a similar nature of a wargame, you can manipulate the AI with ease. I hardly see any difference.
>>98209136I could see the use for testing color schemes, like when people used the Dawn of War army painter to test colors schemes for their armies.
>>98209450>get better friendsI'm getting old and the people I used to play are no longer alive or no longer play.It does not help that I live in the third world and finding half functional people that play non 10/11th 40k has been exhausting.Even historical are getting infected with the tournament mentality here.
>>98209240Those aren;t surgeons and that isn't anywhere in asia, the masks themselves are not the issue, they are a warning sign representing what the actual issue is, in that they have a use, but that use is stating "This is not a place to be"
>>98209434>nobody wants 9/10th of the player base of any game in our homesThat's one of the great things about playing in your and your friends homes, your group has absolute right to gatekeep. If your "friends" are that despicable, then perhaps you should ruminate on how the company you choose to keep is a reflection of yourself.
>>98209511You have exactly that choice: find those people that are likeminded and compatible with what you like to play, and how you want to play.Or, play solo. You can not force tournament players to play according to your likings, nor can they make you play their games.
>>98209136Are you really surprised? 70% of /tg/ wargaming posts are about painting.
>>98209136Is it to brag? To claim they actually painted those? Or to try the look of 3 different colours without painting 3 different miniatures? Or just for fun, to add a backdrop or something? I sometimes do the opposite, and let AI create an oilpainting like picture of my painted miniatures.
>>98209136It's not like Kickstarter isn't utterly contaminated with AI generated shit as well.
>>98209136Facebook is where the people who actually think AI is good congregate. From grandma watching AI Jesus affirm all her political beliefs to grandpa watching an AI judge tell an AI homeowners association president that he owes that AI guy millions for trying to enforce lawn standards on a Sunday, Facebook is the place for AI enthusiasts of all stripes.
>>98209313An Absolut Batman? Nice.
>>98207604I'm glad you had a window to make your shot. I came back hometown for the old man and I know accept it's never happening since all he does is sleeping and watching TV. I can shove these minis and chits right up my ass.
>>98209414I love the dice ladder mechanic, how easy is to create a warband with whatever you have and the different outcomes from the under fire/attack tables when rolling for an effect. They're deceptively simple games, quick to play but with enough deep to keep coming back to it. You can easily add your own stuff without breaking much.
>>98209429I thought that was the mechanic for Ronin
Really like how this one came out. Only a few more and I'll have a fully playable army.
>>98212683Is that a Niggerâ„¢?
>>98212683It did come out nice. Are you playing First Blood or the full game?
>>98212961Full game. I know first blood got new rules recently and I was meaning to take a look at them, but I'm still fixing down how I want my army to play in TLAoK
