Glad to see such a response to my last message. Hope this brings a community together.
>>98207105Slaanesh only have one testicle right?
>>98207105getting my prints mostly under control, but im having one repeat issue.the bottom (which part is closest to the plate) is always bloated. the rest of the details come through great. not a huge deal with lots of minis but i really want to lock into great prints. pic related, washed and cured Any idea what would be the fix here?anycubic mono4/anycubic abs-like 3 if that matters.
>>98207146One breasticle on humanoids.
>>98207169Could either be a problem with transition layers (the mini is too close to the bottom layers and the transition layers are messing with it) or heat. The resin starts cold and bloated and as the printer works, the resin warms and turns normal
>>98207537i have a heater in my cage, but i will run it longer before it starts to make sure the resin gets up to temp thenis there a downside to removing transition layers? or just bump the mini height up from 5
>>98207115alright vagueboy
>>98207546Idk about removing transition layers, I'd probably just recommend increasing mini height and seeing if that solves the problem first.
Should I pull the trigger on an Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra 16k, or is something else that's better coming out oson?
>>98207659ill give it a shot. thanks
>>98207681How would anyone be able to tell if a printer that isn't on the market yet, is better?
My latest resin prints, almost done painting them since taking this picture.
>>98208029Currently in the process of printing a bunch of wilderness terrain, got about 50 more trees to go plus some odds and ends.
>>98207146Khorne has two, but very small.
>>98208474khorne is more about the bone though
>>98208022>what is a marketingDo you think new products just materialize out of thin air with no announcements or rumors or anything?
>>98208506>Balls for the ball pit
>>98207105do you print bases or nah?
>>98209455No, because it's annoying to attach resin figures to resin bases with a sculpted surface.
>>98209455Exclusively, also only in resin (FDM layer lines on rims suck).>>98209678Choose bases with flat surfaces, or use digital tools to create recesses for your miniatures feet.
>>98209678i've got a magnet and clip rig so i dont really have that issue>>98209852what do you use to edit?
>>98209852Its just too much of a hassle, for what usually doesn't look that great either.
>>98209934Meshmixer.In this instance place the feet into the base where you want them, select the base then select the legs/mini and then click "boolean difference" in the edit menu, untick "auto reduce result" select "precise" or "sharp edge preserve" in the drop down menu and slide "target edge threshold" down as low as it goes.
>>98209455Only if I don't have a regular base to use or I want to print some textured base I made myself for my own toy soldiers or a commission
>>98209455I'm waiting to base my army until I buy a resin printer
Anyone know where I can find a free STL of Snikrot?
Have any of you tried to scan old metal minis? I've heard scanning those old minis is very difficult and keeps little in the way of details, but no way I'm buying that many metal minis.
>>98216976The STL's for scanned minis tend to look like they have a rough and rounded texture when rendered, but they print absolutely fine, I don't know what goes on there.Old minis look especially bad as renders, but that's got nothing to do with software, they really are just poorly sculpted compared to modern sculpts that were made only to be printed, old sculpts, and to a lesser extent all sculpts created for injection molding, just look inferior because if the design restrictions that injection molding places on the sculpt. And old stuff was from a day when the quality bar was much lower, they've got nostalgia going for them and that's it.Speaking of though, has anyone here ever tried a "lost wax" type resin and tried to cast your prints in bronze or pewter? I keep going back to thinking about it every few months, and while initial setup is an investment, once you have the tools to do it I think it'd be pretty nice to have some things like battletech mechs in metal.
>>98217002Any cheap way to scan minis?
>>98217044I wouldn't know, I just print..
>>98212890Yes and his first name is "Dale" actually please refer to him as such thank you
>>98217957How much detail is lost in these scans?
>>98218043NTA but I built a scanned GW ambot and the detail looks the same as the real thing. The render just looks funny.
>>98218043They look perfectly fine when you paint them you maybe lose like 5% or less of detail and it's usually only super sharp edges
Do we still share/trade files here?
>>98218232yeah. anybody got twin goddess minis? i got the fantasy goblin warband if you got any of the older stuff.
>>98218280>YUhSMGNITTZMeTluYjJacGJHVXVhVzh2WkM5b1FVRlpWMWc9Here's a bunch of tgm. I'm mostly looking for Tinylegend's Blitz Legion stuff, but I would absolutely be good with that gob warband too.
>>98217044Open scan can be pretty cheap if you can put in the work to build it yourself.>>98217002There are good scans and bad ones, but many metal minis look a bit rough on the good ones, too. Like the pic, it is a great scan, and it has a slightly rough texture, because the original had one.For me it is more than nostalgia, it is a style of miniature that had to be designed around the restrictions on how to make them, so they tried interesting stuff to work with them. Art from adversity.
>>98218232Anyone have Far Haradvand Khand? My usual sources give me nothing for these old minis.
>>98218821>/d/mbdOpP>/d/R4x28Qfirst is the warband, second is the goblin from the monthi dont know if im just retarded. but codes not mega, its not gof, its not 64. mf or ss. That's all the ones i know
>>98219465Sorry, old habit. Almost even put nfk pass on it. It's just 64 twice
>>98219465>UpdateAlso much appreciate the goblins!
>>98220738i dont do much stl sharing, sitting on a stack hahaonly know the tricks from pdf sharethreads thanksNeed to clean her up a bit, but already printing a warband
