So let me get this right.Daemons in Warhammer hates mortals and see them as lesser beings because they're mortals, but they're still ready to bend over backward just for one soul? And I don't remember anything about them using the souls as soulcoins or turning them into more demons like in D&D or DOOM or Afterlife, no. Or, if the theory about every daemon being some poor shmuck's reflection in the Warp, they don't seem to become ascended by eating their original version. They just eat souls and it's exit stage left for the poor guy whose only sin was to greet some kind of horrible daemonic entity with a "oh hi there".
>>98209587Its food, they're hungry. Humans do all kinds of weird shit when they're starving. Still going to think the squirrel is a lesser being. All souls in 40k go to the warp. There they get eaten or absorbed aka eaten but nicer than how daemons do it.
>>98209621>Its food...oh.Well that's a disappointing two-words answer for a question that has been pestering me for days./thread>There they get eaten or absorbedYeah, I heard one of the sister of battles living saint actually leads the pious souls to a peaceful afterlife. All a matter of perspective with Jacob's Ladder over there.
>>98209653>Well that's a disappointing two-words answer for a question that has been pestering me for days.I am constantly amazed at how retarded you zoomers are, it's like you genuinely don't know how to use a search engine. Fuck, even AI exists now, you can just ask that the moment a thought occurs. Instead you sit there, confused and pestered for DAYS, baffled as to how you could possibly fix it.
>>98209675>why ask real people instead of asking AI????Because last time I asked AI anything, it told me to eat horse dewormer, retard. Use that brain of you to communicate with others instead of being the massive fucking loser you were shat out by your mom to be and falling into misanthropic school shooters habits.Fag.
>>98209685And what about the "search engine" part you conveniently left out of your mad up story, you massive spastic?>Use that brain of youKek
>>98209653The warp is a manifestation of irl psychic ideas, but also has reality warping powers to atemporaly effect irl. The warp used to be less fucked up and thus the afterlife was less fucked up up, which had less fucked up effects on irl. But the war in heaven, the old ones, the fall of the eldar, all went and fucked up the warp making it violent, agitated and powerful enough to do time shenanigans to ensure a grim dark fucked up future where there is only war. Might also have been fate, aka wanting to sell warhammer figurines. The old LotD books and various fluff from RT to 4this edition have a lot of neat bits and pieces in it to read if you're so inclined. But it helps to remember its fluff to sell models.
>>98209701I'd enjoy books a lot more if they weren't retconned constantly. I always fear that some very neat tidbit I learned was retconned later in one issue of White Dwarf or on the Newsletter. What about what I heard somewhere, that every daemon in the Warp is the reflection of a single living person in realspace, but twisted and deformed into a total monster?
>>98209721That part was total bullshit. The way to avoid >total bullshit is to read source material and not worry about retcons, its just fluff. Its supposed to be fun not a holy text. If someone's calling it 'lore' they're already fucked. Get the models you like, don't pay gw if you can, play the games you like.
>>98209757...that sounds so dumb, but thank you nonetheless, this is what I needed to hear.
>>98209770np
>>98209782Ultimately, nothing is set in stone until the author dies. So no matter how much I like Warhammer's dwarfs, I can take their lore too seriously.
>>98209685I think you mighta shoulda taken that dewormer.
>>98209721I gotta tell ya, as an older dude, the sooner you get used to disregarded canon, the happier you'll be. And when someone brings up something added on you don't care for? "That's gay, I ignore it."
>>98209905I can't really do that, the idea of DMing a game while relying on retconned lore haunts me;
>>98209918As the DM, though, it's your game. You get to choose which lore is based and which lore is too retarded to include. It's the perfect solution to your problem.
>>98209930>You get to choose which lore is based and which lore is too retarded to includeMy god, you're right. I don't have to read every book and every newsletter to be as accurate as I can, I can make my own interpretation of the lore. Now I feel genuinely retarded.
>>98209883KWABOTY
>>98209918I did that twice in WFRP games. I just told my players I was going to use older stuff. I also killed off Archaon in my games because he's a dogshit Mary Sue.
>>98210122I'd just love to DM a very small story. Like, not something grand like Archaon the Everchosen, but rather something mundane and petty.I had plans to have the party piss off a knight order and end up dealing with a bunch of very pissed and extremely competent knights (think of these Arthur stories where every knight has his own speciality, except of course you wouldn't have any magical knight or archer knights, but different kind of approach, with one challenging them directly, another asking to duel the leader, another showing up with his entire retinue), but I never went forward with it.
>>98210479That's the best way to do it, and you should go for it. I only killed off Archaon because I think he's super fucking lame and I was setting things post-Storm and wanted to make it explicitly clear that Chaos lost that conflict completely.
>>98209905>I gotta tell ya, as an older dude, the sooner you get used to disregarded canon, the happier you'll be.Yes.
>>98209587As others have said, food, but Daemons are also looking for ways into the materium, and more corrupted mortals means more chances to do that.
>>98209721Most of the stuff that is "retconned" isn't actually retconned, GW just doesn't give a fuck about lore consistency and lets different authors push their own interpretations, while new authors latch onto whatever interpretation from previous authors they like the mostThe nature of the Warp and the fate of souls in particular is a skub topic even among GW writers. Some push the grimderp interpretation where everyone gets fucked when they die, others push for some equivalent of heaven >>98209587My personal interpretation is that some daemons just want the bragging rights associated with bagging a particularly noteworthy soul. Also corrupting powerful people lets you use them for plots to corrupt tons of plebs
>>98209587Demons and Humans have the same souls, and demons' main means of reproduction is corrupting humans'.
>>98209685eat horse dewormer, retard
>>98211897>others push for some equivalent of heavenNo one does this.
>>98209587How did this impact your last session of traditional games?
>>98209938The sad part is that you'll never feel as retarded as you actually are, at least based on your posts in this thread.
>>98213030The same way it impacted yours, nogames.
>>98213405Ooooooouh, he's NOT gonna like this one. Wanna bet he'll cry and deflect?
>>98213405Projection, nevergames.
>>98209587Terrible bait, work on the material son
>>98213795You called it like clockwork. He even samefagged to try to shit on the OP again.
>>98209685If the AI actually told you to take horse dewormer (unlikely), it would be because you described the symptoms of a parasite, and you should have taken its medical advice assuming you weren't lying to it. Based on the rest of your post, the parasite may be in your brain.
>>98213920Yeah, he's samefagging some more. How cringe.
>>98213854Awww the little nogames is upset he's been identified.
>>98219365Metal.
>>98219914Fe.
>>98209587I wish I had a girlfriend who killed me because of a dream.Heck, it doesn't even have to be a girl. I just wish someone would kill me.
>>98222283Me too, man. Me too.
>>98214939nta, but I know a registered nurse who tells people to take horse dewormer, and claims to have taken it herself. It's crazy out there.
