First off, no it isn't you fake grog newfag, this is the 2nd edition Guard Codex from 1995. The one you posted is the 3rd edition Codex from 1999. Secondly, there were multitudes of artists working for GW over the years and many of them were completely inconsistent with one another on portrayals of things like weapons, so it doesn't fucking mean anything. There were already Black Library novels describing lasgun fire as "ruby beams" before Dawn of War came out. You are a pretender who knows nothings.

even some more recent art shows the lasguns with yellow/white light. It’s not a topic I feel strongly about, but to be fair to DoW, it’s a 22 year old game. I suspect really making las gun shots look like convincing white light was beyond their capabilities

>>
>>98216134
Star Wars blasters look better. It's as simple as that. There's a reason a lot of people mod their fallout games to have that style of laser bolt - it just has more impact visually. Beams do work for large scale, continously firing laser weapons, though. Think of the big glassing beams from halo or the death star laser.

That one attempts to show a beam being emitted, not just generic muzzle flash like the bolter. The beam is crucial in visually communicating that this is a laser weapon, not a conventional firearm.

Don't care, the secondaries are right on this one. Making lasguns look identical to tracers is stupid. The red beams were actually pretty unique.

Star Wars blasters shoot bolts of energy, not a continuous beam, retard-kun. The most recent trailer GW put out shows lasguns functioning the same way. Only GW does it worse by making them just look like boring tracers.

Plasma already fires bolts, so lasguns should fire beams. It doesn't matter what color they are, although somewhere in the red-orange-yellow spectrum looks best for lasweapons and blue-green-white for plasma. Melta should be clear heat-haze waves with a ghostly white glow coming out of the barrel and the target on the other end "slowly" melting. This concludes my TED talk on Imperial energy weapons.
>>
>>98216231

Blasters and plasma guns are not lasers, anon. They shoot ionized gas, not light. 40k stole Lasguns from Dune, where they are depicted as shooting continuous beams.

The particular situation referenced earlier about the Night Lords was on Vigilus, which wasn't a Hive Fleet invasion at all but an Ork WAAAGH followed by a Chaos invasion, which had forced the GSC out of hiding early to fight off these threats, and that sort of a thing can happen all the time.

Is not that they lost to GSC. That is to be expected since usually you are facing a significant portion of the planet when GSC are operating in the open.

The Starbinder expects control and precision in all things, if a so called “war crime” would lead to a quicker victory then so be it. That said there is no mercy for those who oppose His luminous will or for the vile Alien. Good sons and daughters of the imperium, led astray, can be brought back to the proper path. But fire is the only answer for those who willingly give in to damnation.

The craftsman who abuses his tools should not be surprised when they fail him. Nor should he be afraid to replace one if it warps beyond recovery.

star wars blasters are magnetically jacketed plasma. It is "reloaded" from a gas canister, and the gas is then excited into plasma using a battery, which is then jacketed, and then expelled. it's nothing like 40k lasguns, which are traditional energy, super-excited photon particles. Completely different technologies, and as a result, 40k lasguns were always a clean red line that behaved like a laser pointer just slower for the sake of the audience watching, while star wars blasters is a traveling bolt of plasma. Ironically, star wars blasters are actually more like 40k plasma guns.

I personally do not like the change. I liked that lasguns were literally just light emitters, and they were visually very distinct and likeable in darktide, the dawn of war franchise games, the space marine games, and tons of animated cinematics over the years. The change to being slow traveling yellow lines makes them less visually distinct.

In other words, it was completely fine before, and the change is completely unnecessary even for corporate copyright reasons since they've only accidentally made them more similar to star wars blasters.

This is a really fun army of renown. AOS writers took so fucking long to start writing fun rules for 4e but it's been pretty good ever since Khorne.

There's a magic item you can give another hero, which is a huge mirror, that actively nerfs them (reduces their attacks to 1) but gives Sigvald +20 OC when he's next to them.

Not exactly. The bitching about 5th is because it started to introduce things that people are still complaining about today.
True Line of Sight, very gamy mechanics like the wound spread the issue with them was not horrible as people make it to be and introducing free gear. (Devastator squads having free heavy bolters is an example of that)
Older editions are not perfect, but they didn't introduce mechanics just to sell shit. Like the laser pointer of 5th.

Basically Mechanicus Mago try to make a space AIDS for nids and ended pulling a Wuhan and infecting himself as the genestealers.

It's a pretty damn good business strat. It's natural that you develop Stockholm syndrome when you spend eight fucking hours painting Space Marines, and the fact that GW already has a story based on your favorite color means you have more reason to keep coming back. I personally really dislike them, but the reasoning makes sense. snakebites have been the least popular klan since orks released and its suspected that’s because they have no actual models dedicated to them (closest was boarboyz, but they got squatted fast), so a release wave of snaggas would give some good snakebite representation. I’m not an accountant at GW of course, so I’m not sure if they flopped or not, but it did touch a market of snakebite enjoyers that otherwise would be shit out of luck without it.

Dang that's crazy, and where does it say it shoots bolts? Or that it's not a laser beam? You're not silly enough to think that "a similar effect to a bullet or small shell" means that the energy is fired as a bullet-like projectile, are you? It's clearly saying the effect of the energy blast on the target is similar to a bullet or small shell.

What gets me is that the accusation is laser-pointer fans are "secondaries" from Dawn of War 1. That game hasn't been popular in nearly 20 years. There was like a 15 year drought after that where, outside of video games imitating DoW, we never saw what a lasgun firing was supposed to look like outside of paintings.
(As for where I stand, the laser pointers look dumb, but the yellow blasts make them indistinguishable from autoguns when they're firing, which is gay. There's got to be a better way)

You do realize that autoguns wouldn't fire tracers, right? It's not like video games where every bullet is a yellow tracer. They'd save tracer ammunition for shit like heavy stubbers which would spit out a tracer every few rounds.

boltgun rounds would also resemble tracer due to the rocket effect
>>
>>98217974
force every modern nerd to play milsims until they learn that most firearms don't use tracers and you can't see the bullets in flight unless it's loaded with tracers, which in 90% of cases is some variety of machine gun or autocannon

>>
>>98217974
>You do realize that autoguns wouldn't fire tracers, right?
Neither would Ork shootas, yet watch any official animation (hell, any unofficial one) and you'll see tracers. You know why? Because it looks 100x cooler than the thing that happens when you shoot normal bullets - fucking nothing.

40k's popularity will crest as the Amazon show captures the general audience's attention. Normies will know a few names from the lore, similar to how they have tangential knowledge of DnD from Stranger Things, but GW will ultimately fail to translate this mass market appeal into more people playing the actual game. This is due to niche appeal of table top wargames in general, but also the high price of entry.

They actively train to use their psychic powers from an early age, with a strong emphasis on avoiding the attention of chaos. The most psychically active among them, seers, use runes and witch helms to minimize their contact with the warp. Wraithbone, which the entire Craftworld is made from, has a sort of inherent anti-warp and little critters called warp spiders keep daemonic influence out of the infinity circuit. The path system also keeps individuals hyper-focused on one trade, so most of them are too busy basket weaving or whatever to have grand plots or ambitions. They also just have a culture that revolves around hating chaos.

Hearthguard went down 5 points for 5 mans but have a 10 point penalty for 3rd unit so a wash if running 3 5-man squads and 10 point nerf if running 10 mans.
Sagitaur dropped 5 points. Armoured Trailblazers upgrades are super expensive and it gives Disruption so doubt people will be running Sagitaur heavy lists.

Pretty much everything in the Votann list except Hearthkyn, Beserks, Yaegirs, and Pioneers got a 3rd unit penalty. Hekatons got a 2nd unit penalty despite being mandatory.for a slow moving army with short range.

>>
>>98219034
Termagants and Hormagaunts both went down in points for 20 man blobs so I think it's specifically a role thing. Melee blobs went down because it's harder to get them in engagement range. Homogenous units went down because two units are better than one for action purposes. 20 man guard units are sitting on objectives and bubble wrapping 4 special weapons+a character.

Well you see they can if you use the glorboblorbo detachment and spend cp on the mumbojumbo strategem that buffs them if they're within 6.7" of <insert character model> anon. The playtesters noticed this and made an ork playtester very upset so gw made them cost the same in points

>but I don't want to use the glorboblorbo detachment and activate the mumbojumbo strategem

40k is a trading card game disguised as a miniatures game, anon. You must spend hours "optimizing your list" instead of actually hobbying or playing the fucking game. But don't worry, it'll be fixed by the time you actually get around to playing due to the ever-changing meta
>>
>>98218999
catachan’s should lean into what vietnam era special forces actually looked like. They should have things like cut-down heavy stubbers.
>>

Honestly that's appropriate for Eldar. Considering how much the new edition buff them some point increases were the absolute minimum.
>>
>>98219073
>So can the space weaboo Iranians wear camo or not?
yes, you can see eldar in camo with their rangers, no reason why you can't use camo on other models, but eldar really really really favour colorful flamboyant schemes, so even then I'd consider using less natural patterns for your camo
>>
>>98219052

>>
>>98219076
Ah but anon, you can mitigate that if you take the right combination of units with the right detachment and use the correct strategems within that detachment. If you don't do these things, you will not have fun playing the games. We won't actually tell you what any of that is, you have to "figure it out" because this is how mtg does things and 40k must draw in retarded fucking mtg refugees according to some gw shareholder report

Rockgrinders are with the blades infront of them. But yeah the truck itself is small even though they can carry 12 models.

Not to mention how the army rule no longer works for units with characters due to the changes to the leader-bodyguard system now. Cult Ambush requires every model in the unit to have it for it to work so if you add a character, and GSC is a character heavy faction, you can't use it.

>scions randomly get a 15 pt increase with an increase on the third model
>kasrkin, which get spammed are 5pts more and still 40pts less
Thanks guys I’m sure the new detachment made them so broken

Wow, guess I’ll just lean on brood brothers again- demolishers got a price drop I note.

>>98219323
I read about that, but presume that’s an oversight-wouldn’t be the 10th time- considering the nonsense with last edition.
It’s one of those things where you just play it as intended and if somone wants to be a slime ball and quote that as actual rules , you pick up your models and play with somone else - because you clearly aren’t going to have a fun time.

GW says deepstrike is better now so you gotta pay up

Im intending to try a suicide Sanctus or two with the detachment that lets him get dev wounds and +1d - add rerolls to hit and wound against 1 unit with a big character in it and they sound pretty mean.

Apart from that- soup forever.
So flitting between tank backed brood brothers with a shooty neophite squad + benefictus or final day with lictors and a trygon -along with loads of acolytes/metamorphs/hybrids

Have you got any ideas yet anon?

40k models need to be space marines. "Vraksian Traitor Guard lead by Traitor Lord Solar on Rothorse" doesn't exist because Traitor Guard is not an army.

Imperial Fists, easy

What a faggot. You don't belong here.
>>
>>98218931
Anon, you get 9" between the two outermost models, and it's not wholly within either, so you get 9" + 64mm (their bases) + 12" anti-deepstrike, they're going to cover your whole backfield regardless if you want them to.

Both are being teased but DM has a lot more teased in Horus Heresy, where Mars is explicitly on the side of traitors and would also make that game less of a marinefest.

Traitor Guard has a lot of forge world oop stuff plus two kits and you can easily expand on that to have traitor hierarchs and generals and units of traitor ogryns and mutants that aren't beastmen+tanks with spikes on them because why the fuck does that hurt your feelings so much when GSC was just guardsmen but bald before they got their legions of miners with four arms.

I guess it kind of makes sense why the base Goliath is usable in Necromunda Ash Wastes campaign.

I just wish they'd make gang-specific driver/gunner kits to customize it.
