Thanks to the Vostroyan MTO, I'm starting Guard for 11th.
...in about 6 months when they actually ship out. Luckily I'll have a white to learn their current codex since Guard won't get one until 6 months before 12th.

So what're the odds GW fully fucks over Deathwatch this edition? Been getting the itch to start up a small force of them to finally dip my toes into an Imperium army after over a decade of chaos and xenos. I know they tried to sweep them out the door with the whole Imperial Agents debacle but they proved popular enough to keep around for now.

>Took Subductor Squad led by a Ministorum Priest to give it Sustained Hits in my Knights so I could have some foot soldiers for flavor
>Priest is a Support now so I need an Inquisitor to act as Leader for the squad now
I've narrowed it down to either the generic Inquisitor or Coteaz (Greyfax is more for ranged units, and Draxus is more points for seemingly less value), most likely Coteaz for the extra CP gain but if the points don't add up I'll just go with the generic one.

Question is, what should I use to kitbash for the Coteaz stand-in? I want to keep a similar aesthetic to my Subductors (Pic related), so what would look best for a base model? Should I use something like a Mk II Centurion to keep the Horus Heresy vibe the Solar Auxilia parts have, or does anyone else have some better suggestions?

New project, I want to do an Unforgiven army, with most of the models as dark angels and the occasional squad as one of their successors to imply a joint campaign/that splitting the legion never really happened. I think it could be cool

My three main plans right now are:
>Orks as my newest army, leaning into Dread Mob because Killa Kans and Deff Dreads are cool.
>I have a boatload of CSM stuff between Combat Patrol magazine and last year's Xmas Battleforce that I'm finally gonna get around to (I've already snapped together the Obliterators/Venomcrawler)
>Spend all of July building and painting up my Revenant Titan along with the rest of the Eldar stuff I haven't gotten to yet.

honestly it was nowhere near as bad as i thought it was going to be. we pretty much dont have to pay for wargear on neophytes or acolytes at all, and that was my #1 concern. if they charged us even 5 pts for special weapons and 10pts for heavy, neophyte squads would have exploded 50pts, but they didnt change at all and we dont have to pay for a single piece of wargear on them, so all else considered i'd say at least as far as points go GSC escaped relatively unscathed. in fact unless you are spamming 3 of the same unit, things barely changed for them at all

i got the orks from the launch box, but a full ork army is actually #3 on my project schedule, i just got roped into fomo lol.

before that i've got a couple theme armies i want to do with eldar and tau, so those will be my projects this edition, and i have completely divested myself of all of my old imperial collections on ebay.

Coteaz's model is genuinely massive so the centurion would be a good fit, size-wise. Probably best to stick to HH models just because they've got similar detailing, 40k alternatives would look a bit out of place next to the auxilia.

I just spent the entire day thinking about it and making a bunch of lists, only to arrive at the same list with the same detachment. I changed almost nothing at all. I played around with the new serpahim detachment, tried mixing and matching the new detachments with the old ones, considering buying alternatives to sacresants, all kinds of things. I even read a bunch of people's experiences with the new dispositions and really think long about which one I want to be. An entire day of considering, to end up changing nothing. It's almost funny.

Here's everything I own to choose from:
https://www.newrecruit.eu/app/Lists/6a20bcedec2f14bab0cd8f55

Here's the current list I used for 10th:
https://www.newrecruit.eu/app/Lists/6a27435d5c7dbf322e9dfd65

And here is the epic new 11th edition list I came up with after thinking about it all day:
https://www.newrecruit.eu/app/Lists/6a33711a07af64a292a4ec0b

I'm excited to do some testing, and I've always wanted to use the Exorcist more (it was just lame it 210 points) so that's the one good thing to come out of this. But I'm just laughing about how I tried so hard and went through a dozen iterations throughout the day, yet changed almost nothing.

I'm going to put together a guard list tomorrow but I imagine not much is going to change there either. Right now I'm lots of infantry with a couple dorns, a couple basilisks, and a couple russes in the back, with Grizzled detachment. I won't be surprised if basically nothing changes there either.

i've sold probably about 10 armies in total over the last 10 years via ebay, so heres a couple tips

1: when packing, get a slightly bigger package than you think you'll need. plastic isnt heavy so the size doesnt effect the price as much as weight does for shipping. the extra space means you can pack in more filler like packing peanuts, crumpled newspaper or tissue paper, bubble filler, etc. they all work fine as long as you are properly padding the box. once its sealed, you should be able to shake it and have nothing move or shift. if theres movement, that equals smashing during travel

2: for wrapping the models, i prefer tissue paper but bubble wrap also works, (and i mean tissue paper from the giftwrap section, not kleenex), tissue paper is just a bit more delicate when it comes to flimsy bits like swords. you can also tuck a single peanut around pieces you are worried about.

3: always ALWAYS spring for the shipping insurance on deliveries over $100. i did have one army get smashed once (luckily it was returned and i was able to save it but i had to issue a refund) and being on the hook with a destroyed or lost army and no cash sucks. also make sure to keep the sale documentation and take photos of the condition of your package in case insurance tries to fight your claim. its never happened to me, but just in case, better safe then sorry

4: factor in ebays cut into the price. it varies by region, but im in the US and the ebay sale cut is 15% meaning if i want to make $500 on a sale, i need to charge $600, because $75 of that will be the ebay sale fee, and then usually about another $10-25 for shipping fees (you can charge the customer for shipping but people prefer orders with free shipping so i just bake it into the price). also dont go for the bottom dollar shipping service like budget ground or whatever. at least get priority shipping. its a bit more expensive but you want to take every precaution on a package thats hundreds of dollars of breakable models. also always get the signature on delivery to avoid package theives or fraud "i didnt get my package" claims

5: dont lowball yourself. unless your models are literal metled in a fire slag, warhammer shit always retains at least 50% of its retail value no matter the condition, and i can usually ask at least 60% for projects abandoned midway in a partially assembled or painted state. a fully painted army though, if its at least general tabletop standard of base coat, shade, highlight, and basing material, should command no less than 100% MSRP unless you really need to sell it ASAP. and again dont forget to factor in the ebay 15% sale fee

one last thing. you can also sell via reddit miniswap or facebook 40k swap groups. its slightly more risky although as long as you use paypal goods and services for the sale, it has some buyer/seller protections and built in shipping label and insurance features like ebay.

the benefit to a G&S paypal sale on a swap site is that the fee is only 3% instead of ebays 15%, and you do get eyeballs on the product faster (swap group gets about 2k-4k views per day, while ebay is about 400 views per month without promotion), the downside is that if no one wants to buy it right away, you'll have to relist it every week on the swap site, while ebay lets you just leave listings up indefinitely auto renewing every month.

ebay is more reliable, but takes a bigger cut of your profits. swap groups are more of a coin flip if it will sell. that said, tyranids are super popular so its been my experience that they're one of the easier armies to sell if the price is reasonable.

There used to be space dwarves called "Squats". GW decided that Warhammer fantasy dwarves mixed with American biker gangs didn't belong in their sci-fi setting and stopped updating them around 3rd edition (I think). Eventually some lore was shat out about how they all got eaten by Tyranids, to shut people up about why they disappeared. Since then, getting "squatted" is short hand for an army being unceremoniously removed from the game.

Hey, any Templar Bros out there, I got a wad of dosh, and I'm thinking about getting into collecting them in 11th edition, any must grab models you don't see on this list that I should scoop up?
I got a line on a Sons of Dorn Battleforce so I thought I'd grab that and and the BT combat patrol and then expand from there.

Couldn't find the original quote but here is a summarised version of the reasoning behind removing them according to Jervis Johnson
>The designers felt that the "Dwarven" concept was not given justice, and that the Squats were more of a joke race.
>There existed a design disparity with the Warhammer 40,000 and the Epic-scale renditions of the race, which prevented there being a cohesive vision of the race.
>Despite the efforts of the design team, they were unable to think up ways to revitalize the concept.

Yeah some kits I do, some kits I don't, that's just MSRP I put out there. Oftentimes boxed kits I order like that show up in paper envelopes with bashed in cardboard, so if it's a wide and flat box, I get it from GW just to be safe since they always ship in cardboard boxes.

you can also save money on the swap sites too if you're patient. i snagged 3000 points of genestealer cults a few years ago off a swap group for $400. it was assembled but unpainted and otherwise in good condition. sometimes you can even find people who got in over their skies and are selling boxes from a pile of shame for cheap still new on sprue

One thing that bugs me about modern GW is their choice to consistently give Marines longer weapons, when the patrician choice is to make them larger in general, more chunky. It's supposed to be an exaggerated setting, but these modern "primaris" weapons just reek of insecure mid-life crisis.

Their artists keep trying to Halo-ify/tacticool the setting and it's frustrating. There's no reason for a bolt rifle to exist, bolts are gyro-stabilized rockets and aren't more accurate or more damaging by having a longer barrel. I mean look what they're putting on box art now.
