Christmas on the Frontlines!

>What is Trench Crusade?
An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, and it's very Blanchitsu.

>What's the QRD on the background?
The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.

>How do I get started?
All the files are free online:
https://www.trenchcrusade.com/rules/

They used to be split between the website and the discord, but no more. For posterity's sake, the old mega will still be kept active even if it's unlikely to need updating: https://mega.nz/folder/70QH0BBa#Eg-blxYQKkY_C02wErnFTQ

>third party sources for making trenchers:

Use these (and/or 3D printing) instead of the official plastics as their pricing contradicts the accessibility to the game (price wise) Trench Crusade was founded on.

Ship autist here.
Try to get myself into Naval development/R&D, but realistically TC 1915 technology is orders above what our own was back then, so I might have some troubles with it, even with 2026 knowledge.

Realistically, find a ship, find a god-fearing crew, and pirate our way around to the new world. The God-fearing crew would not exactly be our modern idea of tolerant to ungodly behavior. But at least they wouldn't be as unreasonable as heretics could be.

2 games today on Claim No Man's Land, Court of Pride vs Heretic Legion and Prussians respectively
Game one victory for the court, heretic priest died turn one from light of samael as not only did the injury cause him to get downed but also he fell from the elevated terrain and 2nd roll was also 9+. Mix of sorcerer, sniper hellknight and gas granades finished off enough that start of T4 enemy conceeded since he deathballed a bit too much so it was 14:6
Game two versus Prussians was a tie, not only did my sniper knight fail to finish off the heavy mechanized tank-slicer, but on turn 4 the singular bolt action rifleman sniper off my sorcerer from middle objective without any extra blood dice on him. 17:17

Gotta love gas granades and Light of Samael even if i seem to have tendency of killing units when I just wanted few more blood markers for bigger fireball

Saw the FlashGitz Video and it got me wondering

If you were to make Trench Crusade a Wargame at the Scale of Warhammer what would you do? What kind of Hombrew rules would you want to make TC battles into Warfare instead of Skermishs. Obviously alternating unit turns would have to go, and the size of Units would need increases. Simple stuff like squads of chaff in the 5s to 10s and such.

Alter initiative rules to be a "go until you fail" kind of situation, ala Crossfire.

You've got the model count to support it, and it flows really well. Would be a nightmare to balance though.

All the homebrew I've seen though has just been dramatically boosting the points allowance, but putting a cap on elite units so you need to invest in chaff.
>>
What gameplay gimmick should Hebrew Knights have? It can't just be golems.
>>
>>98233361
My take on it is that it'll be an extremely elite, sneaky force. Similar to the Alamut IS warband, but with big tanky knights instead of speed/time shenanigans. One single golem will probably be their heavy unit, but I expect them to be a melee-heavy "traditional medieval crusader" type army with miscellaneous godly shenanigans backing them up. I'm not really sure what their filler unit would be, though. Rando with a bolt-action seems to be contrary to their style, what little we know of it so far.
>>
>>98233361
You bribe your opponent to let you win the game.
This counts as a win for official tournament purposes.
Immediately becomes the best faction because it relieves you of the need to actually play this dogshit.

>>
>>98233361
Factions have seemingly gotten more complex as they get released (Grail, then Court, and the Path of the beast as implications of wierd rune organisation stuff) so it'll probably be complex. Maybe weird esoteric magic stuff, the sort of thing you only know about if you read old alchemical rabbi texts from 500 AD.

I'm trying to pick a skirmish game to get into and try to get a group going at the LGS. What do you like about TC compared to other skirmish games?
>>
>>98237040
Similar enough to GW skirmish games/other systems that it will make sense to people who have played them.

Its a pretty overall simple system, so its a good choice imo.
>>
>>98237040
TC is pretty close to old Mordheim in style, but a more modern analogue would be Necromunda,
>>
>>98237040
It's very easy to learn, I can usually explain rules in under 15 minutes to a group of people
It is mini agnostic so people can use whatever the fuck they already have
The system being so deadly results funny moments and relatively quick games

>Simple stuff like squads of chaff in the 5s to 10s and such.
I think it should already be a thing. It's so weird to fight in trench warfare with just a few dudes. If chaff came in units of 2-6, for example, it'd give the game more of that waves of dudes crashing into each other. 2-3 dudes manning a machine guns or a small launcher (like those WW1 trench mortars and grenade crossbows), up to 5-6 man rifle squads and trench raiders. I don't care if the unit still operated like a single model (each dude lost representing one less fighting strength/firepower), but it'd give it some needed weight of bodies. I don't need the game to be hundreds of dudes clashing, but some mass would be nice.

I think all of this can be true, I merely think it would be cool to theory craft a grander scale Trench Crusade gamemode, similar to the multiplayer gamemode they mentioned

nothing as big as warhammer, but not as small as the climatic battles either, a in between where chaffs are 5 to 10, Elites (like Heavy Mechs) are 2-4 and Charaters (Heretic Priests and such) are attached to units for certain new buffs (imagine commanding a chaff squad to fire upon their own for instance, which could never be fair in small scale but could work in a larger scale)
>>
Do I need to buy a 3D printer to get the minis or would a store that has Trench Crusade have a 3D printer themselves to print it out for you?

If you can find a group there's a good chance of someone willing to print for you eitrher freely or for small change

nta, but if we're speaking in specifically scam and not just shit head choices,
the kickstarter. a ton of the delivered content was a mess of bad printing and cheaper resin then promised. combined, quite a few people just never got their stuff. you can scream /delivery issues/ all you want but at the end of the day, send the fuckin mail. i understand the shift in tariffs hit hard, taking a preorder, keeping the money, and just saying oh its too expensive to send right now is a piece of shit move and a scam. especially taking all that money and printing a bunch of better models and selling those for profit.

Typical TC mongoloid response. Funny its actually people who are putting their heads in the sand or actively maliciously promoting TC as if Factory fortress is a cool community first indie studio and pretend they didn't corpo speedrun the second they thought they could get away with it is bad faith.

Also,
Only people who have actually backed the game can post on their kickstarter page you retard. There's literally several thousands of comments of backers who have issues if you scroll down

>But they.. they already closed the kickstarter.

Yeh exactly without delivering the goddamn product to everyone who paid for it. Thats called a scam.

Shittuber alert. Bro was lying in that video by the way. I have no context for anyone of those backers with issues, every single one has been replied to by FFI. If you were actually following it and not deep throating e-celeb cock you'd know that FFI has supplier issues which they made efforts to resolve, as they initially banked on $60k backers not $3million. The game is literally free. You have never read a single article or document from FFI, you're taking some random faggot on YouTubes opinion as gospel. You are literally arguing from bad faith. Just go back to posting in 40k lore threads lil bro.

I kind of just visit this place every now and then. Not sure why really. It hurts a bit because the foundations were rock solid then all the screw ups happened and all that’s left are the zealous cultists. They won’t see reason and when they “do” they downplay the mistakes. This was never gonna be as big as 40k or warmahordes back in its prime but the fullest potential has been pissed away.
I wouldn’t want this general to die though. /awg/ already has enough problems and doesn’t need rehashed 40k autism added to the mix.
>>
>>98285101
I see this talk, but this is the talk of people who aren't actually playing the game, and bought in to some grand narrative surrounding the game that the devs were not responsible for.
I like the game because the lore is pretty decent in the 'this is why we FIGHT' way you need for a game to be played, the rules are simple enough for someone who has no wargame experience to pick up in less than an hour, the models are whatever you want them to be and allows for both experienced and rookie players to sink their teeth in.
Everything you are mad about is not about the actual game, which is why people like me either laugh, mock, or roll our eyes at you. You were never here for the thing that actually mattered, and that is fine, but your winging about the never was gets old.
If your complaint was something like 'the rules as written do not represent the kind of game that is trying to be run', I'd be totally on board for a conversation.
It's not tho, and the only thing you have to offer is shitting on a game for not being what you imagined it was. It's become boorish and boring, a constant rehash of the exact same talking points for the last 8 months.
This assumes you are not just lying, like many of the other 'detractors' are clearly doing.
>>
>>98284047
How much can the Kickstarter trench crusade rulebook reasonably sell for anyways?
Are people who didn’t get their books still clamoring for their Kickstarter books?
I’ve just lost hope that things are gonna turn around for the better and just want to get rid of the book and get some money back and pretend I never supported it after all of what FFI has done.

Here’s hoping the spirit of the bogdanoffs make tc u-turn into what it people wanted it to be after I sell the book and move on. Lord knows there’s still a chance as the zealous support is still not gone yet.

>>98285391
I’m glad you like it I think. You most likely proved my whole thing about the denial and downplay thing somewhere in your post.
>>
>>98285588
Not downplay, I actually do not care about the thing you are focused on, which is what the company is doing outside making rules for a skirmish level wargame.
Anything the company has down that you can name has not affected my ability to play the game in any tangible way, and if it had, I would have ill words to say.
That said, they aren't fucking up the rules, so everything else runs a distant second to my concerns, if they place at all.
>>
Looking at the game, mostly considering a New Antioch force, maybe Iron Sultanate on the side.
Is it more worthwhile to go hard in to bodies on the field, elites, or a 60/40 (either way) mix?
Just wondering what I need to kludge together from the start. I do want to do both campaigns and one offs.
>>
>>98291050
New Antioch tends to lean more towards wide lists and in general the game currently favors more activations over elite lists.

I would recommend trying to do one-offs at a 700ducat/0glory limit so you can take that warband straight into a campaign if you like that. One offs are good for learning, but the game really shines more in campaign play.

I don't see how that can ever actually change unless they make armor super cheap and shrink the board so you can get objectives easier.
The ease of taking a unit OOA with any decent roll means that more gunz is almost always going to be better gunz, unless there is a particular advantage the unit has over just the gunz.
