I'm going to test this small puzzle on you people to see if it's actually viable. The setting is a large chamber with a dragon in it, with an exit on the far side, the dragon is far too powerful for the party to fight and it does not take kindly to uninvited visitors strutting about its lair. The party however has a single magic ring that can render the wearer completely invisible for a short period of time. How can the party safely cross the chamber?Small note: The chamber is large enough to avoid the dragon's blindsight, but not the dragon's normal sense of sight. Any attempt to cross it without invisibility will alert the dragon.
>>98227176Just wanted to chime in that this is a shot question and clearly in DnD. The answer is to punch (You) in the head for this absolutely stupid "puzzle" and tell you that everyone knows about The Hobbit novel.

>>98227286The dragon eats you as you try and cast spells you don't have.
>>98227302Nope.
>>98227305The DM eats your character sheet and has you thrown out.
>>98227310Nope.
>>98227314You are prefenestrated.
>>98227317Nope.
>>98227176One person crosses using the ring, then throws it back to the others.
>>98227371You can't exactly throw a ring very far.
>>98227376String
>>98227376tie it to something I can throw far enough
>>98227452Dragging something along the stone would probably alert the dragon to your shenanigans but it might work>>98227455I hope to god whatever you tie it to doesn't hit the ground and make a sound.
>>98227176Such a ring is clearly quite valuable. Offer the ring as tribute for safe passage.
>>98227468String and a handkerchief to bundle it in.
>>98227286I already won btw /thread
Wait for the dragon to fall asleep, geniuses.
Make the dragon investigate and turn away from the party so they may pass. A curious dragon that's not alarmed might be easy to manipulate.Food or otherwise. A critter let loose. No idea.
>>98227376I got a sling.
>>98227176The lonely mountain classic- the fastest partymember lures the dragon away, escapes with the ring, and the remainder clear the horde and evacuate. Otherwise, i can think laterally. >the party is one guy>the dragon is already unconsious or dead, so no stealth is nesessary>levitation or other magical methods may be used to shuttle the ring between safe points>offer the ring as trade for passage
>>98227176I proposition the dragon that in exchange for this ring of invisibility and sex, it lets the party pass and I will catch up with them once I fuck it silly.
>>98227176How can we possibly devise a solution when we don't know anything about the party or what they have access to? A lvl 1 party has way less tools than a level 5 party. I mean you could do anything with the right level. If they can conjure animals for example they can have the mage go to the other side, then summon an animal (or anything, really) that they put the ring on, and have the animal bring back the ring to the party. If the ring allows for invisibility on non-living things that wear it, you can put it on an arrow and shoot the ring back. This whole set up reeks of "shitty GM", where the GM has decided that only their preferred solution will work and any other solution will fail by default.
>>98227176Dude with invisibility ring moves near the dragon becoming a decoyThe rest leaveInvisible dude then leaves too
>>98227176Lots of missing info. How big is the chamber actually? How long would it take for someone to cross it while moving silently? Is one of the chamber with sling shot distance from the other? Are there any spots someone could use as a cover in the chamber like mounts of gold or stone columns or something? What exactly is in this chamber aside from the dragon.Does the invisibility last long enough for someone to be completely invisible while crossing the chamber silently or is there a risk that it will run out?Would the dragon immediately attack if they get noticed? What is the dragon even doing in this chamber which assume it's his lair but you haven't specified. Is he counting his riches? Is he dozing off after a large meal? Is he reading his favorite doujinshi? Is he patrolling for intruders?
>>98227176>Any attempt to cross it without invisibility will alert the dragon.Assuming D&D this is pretty poor because it disregards the player's abilities and how good their stealth may potentially be.
>>98227176Easy, everyone ties themselves together with a rope, while one of them uses the ring, so everyone receives the invisibility effect.
>>98227176Can the party make a DC 80 escape artist check?
>>98227176does it has flu or something? because could smell youbribe it, dragons love wealth
>>98229111>Pass DC 80 on escape artist?>"You can go through the eye of a needle">Pass DC 90 on jump?>"You can jump up to a 2nd floor, I guess? oh, you fall prone at the end of the jump btw"Always found weird how weak some skills were
>>98227176Negotiate with the dragon - offer to give the magic ring to the dragon (they love magic and gold) for safe passage for the entire party through the cavern.
>>98227176>The party however has a single magic ringThis is where I stopped reading. Hoped that helps.
>>98227176Put the invisibility ring on the dragon, thus making him disappear and making the room safe to cross.
>>98227176Depends on the PCs capabilities. If they can, use something like telekinesis to move the ring from one end to the other. Otherwise, does the ring also turn invisible someone if you hold their hand or something? Can anyone in the party fly?I can think of a few ways around this, but I couldn't give you a certain answer without knowing the party composition. Either way, I'm sure it's possible. Good luck to your players OP, hope you have fun.
>wear ring as cock ring>stick cock in a companion's assNow we're both wearing the ring and can pass by together. Once at the other side, disengage from the ass. Leave the party member in safety and go back for the next one. Repeat until the entire party has crossed the room.
>>98227480Solved, OP seething
>>98227601>>98227474These are the answers, first is intended, second is also acceptable IF you can sneak by a sleeping dragon.
>>98229112It can't sense you through the stench of the farts OP is huffing
>>98227326The actual solution is to get the dragon to play prowlers and paragons [spoile]and then put the ring on its miniscule penis[/spoiler]
>>98227474If the dragon is so strong that fighting it means certain death it has no resaon to not just take the ring, kill the party and then steal whatever magic items they had from their corpses
>>98227468>Dragging something along the stone would probably alert the dragon to your shenanigans but it might workOh but not the footsteps, the dragon is selectively deaf apparentlyWhat kind of "ring" is that, a whole ass metal pipe section?
>>98234859The ring's power is a red herring, you're meant to either bargain for passage or wait until it falls asleep.
>>98234900If my only two options, in this fantasy world, are paying taxes and waiting in a cuck corner, I am rolling for retirement to see if I can serve the dragon.Whatever it's got for me, I can't see it being a downgrade.
>>98234900Without being given further concrete info on the dragon, both of those are totally unreliable. In some settings, dragons are either animals who can't be reasoned with or aren't particularly honourable (many D&D dragons fall into the latter catagory). Likewise, there's no guarantee that dragons actually slumber in a way that sufficiently dulls their perception, since they can be, again depending on the setting, magical creatures or spirits that don't follow the normal rules of flesh and blood mortals.Tbh this is a perfect example of bad puzzle design. It relies upon assumptions that only exist in the creator's head, and doesn't function at all without those unstated assumptions.
