>>98235578>TQ: What are your thoughts on voltron as an archetype?Frustrating either for an opponent or the player, so I don't do it. My most voltron deck is designed to have any creature capable of doing great damage, even if I have one or four on the board. Not as fast and explosive as a pure voltron, but more consistent and last longer in a pod.
>TQ: What are your thoughts on voltron as an archetype?I like it since it's a simple concept that feels good to work towards, it can be feast or famine and you're going to get killed by the other guys at the table after you smash your +20/20 equipment filled commander into a pillow fort guy, but I think it still adheres to what I like about commander as a format: big guys slapping the shit out of things
>>98235578Nothing feels as good as equipping your creature with weapons and armor and turning sideways to oneshot someone. To me it feels like levelling up in a video game and see your character become more and more powerful. Of course, you have to pilot it correctly with enough protection and removal if you want a chance to survive.
>TQI don't usually want to play Voltron, but I don't mind playing against it. At least a Voltron player has a wincon and whether they fail of succeed, they'll will help move the game toward resolution. If you play an effective Voltron and whine about getting focused, you're a big fag. If you play a Voltron that you obviously have an emotional attachment to because you're a fucking furry, or a weeb, or a generic autist, I will kill it on sight
>>98235578Previous is >>98230299My bad
>TQI love killing the control player T3 because he's only cast rhystic or esper sentinel
>>98235578>TQ:literally only way it works is with multiple combats or some noncombat damage plan. if you're just planning to swing for 21, even if you assemble that you need 3 turns to win. it's so bad. it's SO fucking bad.
>>98235910Every card in MTG is bad until it isn't, this in non arguable (since 1998)
>>98235928it's more bad than other cards that are bad
>>98235830No control deck running those two cards is dying to this 6 mana uncslop commander T3
>>98235953I'm killing you turn 3 now anon
>>98235989Not if i dress up as a girl and kiss you first
>>98236008I hate that Crew effect
>>98235578>TQ: What are your thoughts on voltron as an archetype? It no longer functions in neo-EDH due to bracket rules.
>>98235578Only worth it if your commander accumulates resources by attacking, or all equip costs are 0 or what have you, otherwise if it dies you're fucked.
What's the difference between the 100 cards normal Ysthola commander deck vs her Collector's Edition Yshtola Commander Deck? All of the 100 cards come as foil?
>>98236141yes
>>98236150What else ? Because I might buy it if it has more stuff
>>98236153That's it.Also the Yshtola deck is garbage.
>>98236164It doesn't bring 2 extra foil cards in its own, with a sealed package like the Cloud commander deck does? Wtf that's trash if true
>>98236153Some alt arts and a collectors sample pack or two.
>>98236170You get a collecter sample pack of two cards if that's what you mean.
>>98235910>my combo strategy that only works with specific pieces I need to assemble in 3 turns or any other strategy that I need to make work in x turns to win is so much better and superiorThe fucking morons in this game.
>>98236198Yeah that's what I meant, excuse my horrible English. I will buy it if I go to my lgs and it's less than 100$, which I assume is not. Thank you anons.
Why this fucking faggot gotta be so expensive man
Do buyfags really?
>>98236219If a card says Human Soldier...would it work on it?
>>98236008Based vehicles player
>>98236232Yeah? Human is the key word there
>>98236237Lol I have been playing with cheaters for a long fucking time...
>>98235910This funny weapon can do some good work with timing
Speaking of Voltron and the like, you think there's any way to make this piece of shit work in commander? I got like 3 of them in my bulk cards and thought about using him for the funny
>>98236212Just to let you know: The collector booster sample packs stop after FF I think? So don't expect them if you buy a more recent precon.
yeah i fucked toski
>>98236219Because both versions of him are hard to get and he isn't reprinted enough and he is very good
>>98236259Nigga that's nuts.
>>98236240>anon was convinced by his pod that lord effects only work if the creature has one typeActually worse than the guy who tried to convince me ward was like shroud.
>>98236257That is extremely valuable information, thanks anon. Yeah I didn't know that, but my interest is only on Final Fantasy, no matter though, thanks.
>>98236265yeah his nuts
>>98236266Man, what fucking sucks is that I'm a returning player from 2010, and I just ask shit like "alright so, is this play legal"? Guess I should just google the answers from now on.
>>98236263Shit feels bad man. I'll hope that maybe there's a reprint down the line a bit later but I might have to bite the bullet
>>98236263>isn't reprinted enoughThe story of every fucking card in this game

>>98236219>sld 143I think we're up to like 8k now
>another babby picking up yshtola the braindead easy commander that gets infinite value by just existing Sigh
>>98236340I haven't bought it yet. I will check my lgs and if they have the collector's for less than what I am expecting then I'll buy it, but chances are they will be selling it for like 150$ or more. I am a Cloud, Ex Soldier main.
>>98236443The sad part is that the precon genuinely sucks balls, you could probably build a better Yshtola deck by just slapping together random esper cards from your bulkIn fact that's probably what you should do because Yshtola is only 5 bucks and is 99% of the deck's power
>>98236471Understandable, thanks for the genuine heads up anon.
I feel like I gaslit myself. I legit thought there was a Star Wars secret lair a year or so ago and thought about making a Luke Skywalker deck to face off against the upcoming marvel decks in a kind of comic vs comic theme and only found out I'm actually clinically retarded a second ago when I went to look up Luke's color and effect
>>98236570Well, we're kinda getting Star Wars this Christmas
>>98236611No kidding? Huh. I'll be dammed. Long as it's not Sequel shit i might crack a pack or two
>>98236570Luke use the fist lmao
>>98236621"Kind of star wars" = Star Trek
>>98236611No, no, we're getting Star TREK this year. Next year will probably be Star Wars.I'm just waiting on the inevitable Pokemon crossover.Would totally make a Team Rocket-themed deck with Giovanni at the helm. And totally not a Lopunny deck and have to remind everyone that there's no laws against Pokemon, Batman.
>>98236637OhWell that's still kind of fun if I can make an Artifact Creature Data deck or a Jewish treasure scheme Quark deck
>>98236654I predict one of the precons will have the original Enterprise as its face commander (because spaceships can be commanders now!), one with the Borg as Black artifact creatures that regenerate your graveyard and make them artifact creature copies, And I dunno. Klingon aggro spaceships and finally a Romulan sneeky breeki blue faggotry deck.
>turn 1>this comes downWhat do?
>>98236738cry pant wheeze cum my pants and sneeze
>>98236654I know relatively little about Star Trek but DS9 interests me the most so I'll have an eye for Sisko or Quark of Garruk.>>98236679Borg are a pretty clear cut esper faction no? I could see them getting a deck with Locutus but idk if there's like a borg cube ship that's "legendary" or has a special name.
>>98236738I make peace with the fact that there is now a 20 turn clock on the game and move on to the next turn.
Thirty (30) starting life is objectively superior to fourty (40)
>>98236763While I'm more an OG Star Wars enjoyer at the end of the day, the Treks are fun and DS9 is really relaxing to me, really love Quark and Odo is great too
This thing is actually pretty good at holding swords. Might end up building her as some kind of terrible big boros deck.
>>98236802>odoTrue, hopefully wotc will have some sense and make him compatible with Mr House
>>98236812She's probably a lot better now that red gets actual dorks. Picrel is also pretty good for her but unfortunately Boros is really lacking in playable proliferate cards
>>98236247>>98236526
>>98236247jannies please undelete this post it's thread culture
Running these guys in the 99, what cards in Temur colors are there to trigger them every turn? Bonus points if the art has a similar pose to these two.
>>98236763I only meant that they'd have black as part of it, not that they'd be mono-B artifacts. Too close to the Necron deck. I don't think they'd be full Esper. I'd say Dimir and they'd shit out Borg Drones that are Zombie Robot Artifact Creature tokens. And the Borg Queen would be the face commander with Locutus in there as an alternate.
>>98236640>2032>whips out Batman deck to face your Lopunny deck>½(BR)>When Batman enters, create an equipment token called Batarang that has "tap: For each player deal 3 damage to target creature or player. Whenever an equipment attached to Batman deals damage to a player during combat, there is another combat phase after this combat phase. >Batman's owner must be congratulated on his combo design if they win the game. Well? I'm waiting.
>>98236868apparently this dude still targets even if you don’t pay so you still get to steal all of them
If anyone wants an update on my cardkingdom order they accepted a return for the warped cards. Shame about the cards, I hope they can restore them.
If anyone wants an update on my tcgplayer order it's been 2 weeks and it still hasn't shown up. Fucking infuriating how this always happens with them but I have zero problem getting cards from other places
>>98236942I don't think it works like that
>>98237075It does, since it's an "if you pay". you still put it on the stack and only then you decide if you wanna pay
>>98237108oh shit that's amazing
>>98237009Your next purchase will have something amazing, trust.
>>98237071What about the tracking number?
>>98237071I recently bought something from them and to my surprise , considering where I am, they have been pretty good. Ordered something on the 17th and it's already being sent to my local carrier from FL.
>>98237158No tracking number just regular ass mail. Which was weird because the order was $47. I've seen tracking numbers with much smaller orders
>>98236942>>98237108This is unintuitive as FUCK why the hell do they word it in a way where you'd think "this will only target if you pay"??
>>98237349maybe they're retarded
>>98237349There's two wordings "if you do" and "when you do"The first one creates only one triggered ability with the entire effect. The second creates a triggered ability asking you to pay, and then another with the actual effect when you do.
>>98236738take it from across the table and rip it now what punk
>>98236812For me, it's this.
>>98237358lmfao never realized what a fuck up this is
>>98237071Does TCGplayer still make it so you can't actually leave a bad review without the shop then being able to message you in response? That really shouldn't be a thing.
>>98236640>Fantasizing about sets you want
>>98236654I expect Data to be a very boring mono blue card that at best might fit in the 99 of a super niche commander. Like they did to Nardole in Doctor Who.

>I tap my 3/3 elephant to crew my borg cube
>>98236738Go on /edhg/ and explain how there's nothing wrong with a 1-mana 6/6 lifelink flier because it's worse than Thoracle combo.

>>98237676There is nothing wrong with it you crybaby
>>98237662Far less silly than>I tap my 5/5 JAWS to crew THE RMS TITANIC
It's just too slow. I don't like it. It draws too much hate. Convince me to keep it.
>>98237720Phyrexians are cool
>>98237647Still? That's never been a thing. I've always been able to leave bad reviews up, with or without being responded to. Shops can message you whenever they want, for any reason
Fuck a precon in making my own Merfolk deck
I wish they were less inconsistent about colors with legendary creatures in UB. Why is every version of She-Hulk Red or Green aside from the main one? Why is every version of Black Panther G/W except for the main one? Why is there a fucking Boros Black Widow or Sephiroth?
>>98237734>Shops can message you whenever they want, for any reasonSo it is still a thing. Thanks.
>>98237720It's a theme card not a back breaker. If it's part of what your deck does cutting it defeats the point of having the deck, but if you're treating it like some kind of must have staple, put it back in your box until you have a better idea with it.
>>98237736Me too
>>98237152I think I'm just giving up on buying cards online at this point. I'll just pay the jacked up prices at one of the many LGSs near me. At least then I can examine the cards first.

Is sleeving your commander in a different colored sleeve acceptable?
>>98237816Congrats anon
>>98237823Yes. If you find someone who finds it unacceptable then I assure you that you do not want to play with such a person.
How do you respond without sounding mad?>>98237816he cute
>>98237823Always has been. Be prepared for the random rare instance of a turbo sperg accusing you of playing with 101 cards in your deck, though (lots of packages come with 2x50 sleeves or 100 sleeves in the box, all the same color. One card in a different color looks "suspicious" to dumbasses)
>>98237836I never even got to pick the 11th or 12th replacement effect before the game crashed
>>98237830>>98237839It's literally against the rules of the game and cheating.
>>98237823If my commander is a dual face card I am putting it in a clear sleeve and no one can stop me.
>>98237823I would consider it weird if you didn't have a cool sleeve for your commander.

Recommend me a non-cringe dimir commander.
>>98237358Which deck can I play this in?
Voltron is awesome pretty much the main way I play. I’ve rarely heard people claim that there’s a problem with them which anyone that has a problem with Voltron decks is a homo or something is wrong with them mentally. Commander is about having one supreme creature and ever since they invented equipment 25 years ago attaching equipment to creatures has been a pretty standard thing. Even with aura’s and lords from the 90’s, that’s a pretty standard thing to power up creatures. Every single two color combination can either destroy or bounce artifacts or enchantments, so there’s no reason to complain whatsoever about it. And there is no three color combo that cannot destroy artifacts. Every color, including blue and green, can directly remove creatures as well (reality shift, beast within, song of the dryads, imprisoned in the moon, ZUKO’S EXILE. Oh yeah, how about Larry Niven’s Disk?)Although black with sacrifice stuff is probably the easiest to take out Voltron commanders. Personally I use Sheoldred’s edict for this, but soul shatter, gix’s command and there’s others are good at doing this. I recently learned about pick related which is pretty awesome if you can roll a 20 for it. But sheoldred’s is an instant.Plus Voltron is Way more fun than faggy token decks which are a nightmare to play in paper anyway. Even online since the client is so shitty and old mass token decks will crash any computer pretty much. And all four players have to sit through that bullshit while you resolve the triggers.
test
>>98237968unironically yes
>>98236038Why do you say that?
>>98238032I have a rule that if I can't resolve my deck's triggers and tokens quickly, it's not a fair deck. Unfortunately for most people that just means I'm constantly learning a better system to take them on adventures with Go-Shintai.Shrines get grouped by their trigger timing and I have a whole stack of shrine tokens to keep them straight.I have a mutate and clone deck I'm working on and I bought infinitokens 100% to ensure I could quickly write out the nonsense mutants I would be duplicating. That being said, outside of CEDH I think Voltron remains very competitive. You just need to be realistic about how it wins and not be a premature ejaculator.
>>98236219Pretty sure it’s only three bucks from bootleg mage or $2.20 from USea
>>98238005You didn't say it had to be a good one
>>98238065I was considering a mill commander but I feel like most people would hate me and the rest are graveyard decks I'd be enabling.
>>98238069If you run it, just make sure you run a fuckton of graveyard hate. Unlicensed Hearse, Ghost Vacuum, Tormod's Crypt, anything you've got in your colors to keep other people's toys in the box.I would recommend the 'can't cast/activate from GY' cards as well, but I don't know them too well because I can't use them with my commander and I'm strongly color limited.
>>98238005
>>98238078This. You gotta come ready to spank the graveyard decks as mill or you're just kingmaking.
>>98238078>Unlicensed Hearse>Ghost VacuumEven regular sets looks like UB now.
>>98238096Don't start getting picky on me now, bitch. Mill is no path for anybody bitch-made.
>>98238049Sorry they work in B4 and 5.In 2 and 3 it will violate "NO ONE DIES BEFORE TURN 8"A voltron deck not killing a player by like turn 6 isn't a deck worth playing.
>>98238096>Now
>>98238160Sorry it seems to me you're making judgements about decks that are actually judgements about the format. That's okay, it's a common mistake. It's more than reasonable to see a bracket 3 Voltron deck because decks that can swing for lethal on turns 6 should face interaction that will delay lethal hits to the turn 7 benchmarks. Additionally, expectations should not be taken as hard limits; a deck that can sometimes roll out a kill turn 5, but only when goldfishing out a christmasland hand without any resistance from opponents is not magically Bracket 4.Additionally, if you don't like slow voltron, don't play in a slow format and don't play a slow deck.
>>98238187Thanks chatgpt!
>>98238191I thought a bit of a snide explanation would be more appropriate than calling you a stupid faggot to your face, but if you'd prefer to bitch and be wrong to grok he's always available and it saves me the effort of having to hand out spankings.
How do we do JVP in the big 2026?
>>98238160Bracket 3 is turn 6 though

Before you go into combat, I tap your beater.>You couldn't have known I was going to attack you! That is some bullshit! >:(The guy then started a huge argument because of this. Then he made it a point to always properly pass priority every single time he did anything or moved to another phase for the rest of the game. Apparently to piss us off and to show how ridiculous this is.>I want to move to draw step. Do you pass priority? Do you pass priority? Do you pass priority? The only problem was that it was actually fine with the table and he still managed to miss some triggers doing this. Why are some EDH players like that?

I don't believe you
dealt a VICIOUS beatdown for an uncharacteristic t6 win in a bracket 4+ S-CDR match earlier (high power strategic commander that usually goes WELL past t6, as opposed to anti-commander "CEDH" format). I was Chair 2open with Leyline of Singularity t1 swamp, passt2- command tower, chrome mox (R+U with prismari charm). Mono vandal blast C1's Grim Monolitht3-island, wheel of fortune. C1 concedes (I think the island is what pushed them over the edge)t4- haunted ridge, Stranglehold. C3 attempts to use a misty rainforest or something and concedes t5- city of brass, relic of Sauron. C4 is playing a planeswalker commander. I mana drain a spell they play, and stifle a planeswalker ability they attempt to use. t6. cast my commander with haste. they lose their planeswalker commander. c4 concedes it felt really good to beatdown fools using vehicles, planeswalkers, and in general all sorts of anti-commander commanders with just a good ol' high mana cost legendary creature. along with the problematic thing of some people playing with 2 commanders (stupid and mind boggling), why do contemporary commander players have such a hard time playing "commander"?

>>98238230one of the reasons its just best to play commander online. never miss anyones triggers since its impossible to (unless its a bug one of the 3 dudes that maintain the client havent fixed yet, which is relatively rare). 4 players keeping track of triggers is almost a big of nightmare as shuffling a 99 card sleeved deck (maybe thats why JUDGES invented the game)

>>98239182I have been asking myself this question for 82 years. I will let you know once I figure it out.
>>98239217I can see this dude spiraling if you put him up against a black deck. So much revive and removal for free?
>>98239256I've played against plenty of theft in the past, I don't know how retards seethe while there are 98 other cards in the deck.
>>98239316Nah, I love theft as a concept. It really fucks with the people that build really op decks that rely on weird conditions and combinations.
people said I cannot loop strip mine in my bracket 3 azusa deck, since when is this mass land destruction?wizard's own official definition is "four or more lands destroyed for each player"
>>98239341Whoever is trying to tell you that’s above bracket 3 is fucking retarded. Like you can only pop as many lands as you can play in a single turn and people with functional decks will remove Crucible before your next turn. Just tell your mates to run more artifact removal if it’s such a problem or just accept that your deck is going to have a funny combo in it.
>>98239341anything below bracket 5 is vibes based anon, why are you fucking with the vibes?
>>98239322That’s why I try to make decks with a lot of redundancy, tutors < redundancy imo. That way if someone steals or removes my thing I can just think “well I got like 4 other cards in the deck that does something similar or better so idc, hopefully I draw into it.”
>>98239341brackets are about intent first and foremostif you are using strip mine with the intent of denying mana, your deck does not belong in bracket 3 which is meant to be a more casual experiencestop pub stomping noobs with your bad bracket 4 deck
>>98239374Alternatively if intent is the concern he can just keep the combo on the board specifically to target annoying lands like Three Tree City, Evendo or Rouges Passage, lands that manage to get full value unimpeded because b3 is the sacred “waaaahh leave my lands alone” bracket.
>>98239374im a casual and i think denying mana is cool and blue green just always having the most mana and cards is boring and lame.
>>98238005I have a whole lot of fun with my Grimmy the Timmy deck >>98237932
>>98239424A single B/U card can eat 6 or so mana from standard decks, it's just smart business. Only thing you need to do is keep a steady stream of drawing going on. Card for card trades only work if you have more cards.
>>98238488I thought he got reprinted in this set?
>>98239358Expecting bracket 3 to always have removal is foolish.
what happens?
>>98236931>one-half black redunderappreciated
>>98239517There is a copy of a token that is a skeleton, loses other types, and has no abilities? Why is it so hard for anons to into logic?
>>98239524a copy that is a token**in addition to its other types**
>>98239524but text changing effects are layer 3, types on layer 4, and color on layer 5, while copy effects are layer 1
>>98239517>Xu triggers>Card returns to the field stripped of abilities>Diviner triggers after>Makes copy of card with no abilities>Copy and returned card are both vanillaAm I right? This is just me thinking out loud. I'm assuming that effectively the card's abilities are wiped from the card itself effectively, making the copy have no abilities to even copy.
>>98239517They kiss.
>>98239537>707.2. When copying an object, the copy acquires the copiable values of the original object’s characteristics and [applies to copying spells]. The copiable values are the values derived from the text printed on the object (that text being name, mana cost, color indicator, card type, subtype, supertype, rules text, power, toughness, and/or loyalty), as modified by other copy effects, by its face-down status, and by “as . . . enters” and “as . . . is turned face up” abilities that set power and toughness (and may also set additional characteristics). Other effects (including type-changing and text-changing effects), status, counters, and stickers are not copied.
>>98239547Still, I argue that the card from the grave wouldn't have the ability to copy in the first place, removed from the game by Xu.>Deadpool replaces creature's stat block>Create copy of deadpool>It makes a copy of the new text, not the original ability
>>98239562but anon, that's not how deadpool works?
>>98239562This is wrong, copies of Deadpool still enter with his ability stealing text. It's why Deadpool decks play a bunch of Twinflames.
>>98239534Why would that matter? You resolve all parts of an ability at the same time. It is not a copy that becomes a Skeleton in addition to its other types that loses all abilities because of a static effect, it is a copy that is a Skeleton in addition to its other types and loses all abilities as soon as it exists.
>>98239646>>98239648I'm going into this accepting that I could be wrong, but I just imagine that the creature from the graveyard loses their text/abilities. You may be right though, not like it would be too op of a combo anyway considering what most combos can do...
>>98239537This is correct. The only way to be confused by this is if it were becoming a skeleton and losing all of its abilities because of a static effect caused by a permanent/emblem/alchemy effect , as-is there is no reason to pull out 707.2 because you resolve all parts of the ability in succession and the following line is not part of copying the creature, but an additional component of the ability.
>>98239675Think of it this way, the copy is looking at the card itself, not the creature on the battlefield. Copy effects are on a layer below the other changes.
>>98239680By "in succession" here, I mean simultaneously before doing anything else - that was confusing, my bad.
>>98239680>>98239688
>>98239547The original object in this case being the copy created by Xu, which is a skeleton in addition to its other types, and loses all other abiltiies.
>>98239697creature created(/altered) by Xu* I'm having a rough time here with shooting from the hip. I'll lock in.
>>98239707gdi created is also wrong, returned**the point is that Twilight Diviner's ability is looking at the creature entering - "create a copy of one of *them* - being cards that entered the battlefield, referring to a card which is a skeleton in addition to its other types and has lost all other abilities
>>98239374>brackets are about intet
>>98239725>Other effects (including type-changing and text-changing effects) are not copied.
>>98239668>>98239697>>98239707>>98239725Nevermind I have been informed that I am wrong and retarded and need to read 707.2 in its entirety next time I have this conversation with someone.I apologize for shitting up the thread and will commit seppuku at the earliest opportunity.
>>98238361Does it have a white border? If so that’s a $2 card max (or 50¢ if beat up). In chronicles the first reprint set they kept the original set icons but had white borders. I use them for my red decksOn eBay i got an unlimited (2nd edition) card effect they said it was a revised card. The price difference was only $20 in my favor and I didn’t notice at first but they still did the right thing and honored it/sent it. Tcgplayer is owned by eBay fwiw
>>98239741Despite my retardation, I still think its helpful for the thread to have discerned that its for this reason and not because of layers. Thanks to whoever posted the rule.
>>98239741>>98239756Honestly feels like a holdover from pure paper play that will change in the Arena era. It's still not because of layers or because the card in question was the one in the graveyard before it was altered or anything like that, which is good to understand.
>>98239742So what's the verict?>>98239537Did I get this right? I can't tell looking at your linked posts which anon you were.
>>98239763the second copy still has no abilities.
>>98239763Verdict is that the card has abilities and isn't a skeleton because of the way copying works. It doesn't inherit any type or text changes regardless of specifics. My personal opinion is that this is because text and type changes are harder to track in paper play, since its an entirely arbitrary part of the copy rules. There's no other mechanical reason for it, its just how copying works. I suspect Arena will eventually impact this, but that's just my cope speculation.
>>98239754I was expecting it to be chronicles or fake desu but it checks out.
>>98239776That's what I assumed. In my head, I was erasing the abilities off the card that is reborn and copying a blank card is a blank card. That's my logic anyways.
>>98239787That was a troll.
>>98239763of course it's a copy of the original card, copying effects that change it after the printed version is literally the same as copying effects like +3/+3 until end of turn. you're just separating effects that don't have a defined end with until-end-of-turn effects in your head.if I played Crimson Wisps on something and then had a Clone enter as a copy of it, the Clone wouldn't be perpetually red and have haste. it's the same thing as if it were a black skeleton with no abilities.
>>98239787That would be the case if Xu created a token that Diviner somehow copied. Because Xu alters the actual card, Diviner's copying doesn't care about any changes to the text of the card, only the text actually written on it. This is how all copying of cards works, no text or type changes are copied. There's no intuitive reason for it, it's just part of the definition of copying cards in MTG.
>>98239821Cool, thanks for explaining. That makes sense.
>>98237720Pod is based. Yeah it’s slow, but I still run it in my B2 Muldrotha deck.
>>98239808Yeah, Xu's effect on the cards he returns is better thought of as an ongoing ability he creates (but isn't the source of and can't be removed) that constantly alters its type and text, than as an alteration to the card's text. This isn't super intuitive and it isn't made explicit anywhere, but thinking of it this way helped me understand why copying works the way it does. It still seems kind of silly, especially since Xu isn't actually the source of the effect nor does he create any independent object that is the source for the effect, and it can't be interacted with directly. He could create an emblem that says "Cards returned by Xu are skeletons and have no abilities" to the same effect as far as this case goes. Digital formats provide a cleaner way to handle this that would be more intuitive.
>>98238058I would like to build her as a B2 commander but I’ve had bad experiences trying to play Voltron.
>>98239756That line is about layers. Copies always look at layer 1, type and text changing effects are layers 4 and 3 respectively.
>>98239217He's pregnant and holding his big belly.
>>98239947Perhaps ostensibly, but the current text of 707.2 would have the same impact on this scenario regardless of whether or not layers existed at all unless you want to have a weird nerd argument about how it would be different in an alternate reality where they didn't or some stupid shit.
Not gonna lie this cards seems pretty mid
>>98240030Doctor Doom and Squirrel Girl are the only good commanders from the main set
>>98240030I hate to admit it but you can tell which cards Mark designed personally because there's a huge gap in flavor design between them and going off the few cards we do know Mark made, he probably made all the good ones.
>>98239808What about copying mutanted creatures?
>>98240130Sorry, but which ones did he make out of curiosity?
>>98240130As much as Nosewater is an annoying faggot sometimes he is still a good game designer at the end of the day

>SLD cards go up to like $200 for what cost $40Is this normal?
>>98239374Odd how that intent is a one way street. I am not allowed to run a bracket 2 deck in bracket 2 if anon decides my "intent" is impure. On the flip side I can't play my bracket 4 deck in bracket 2 even if my "intent" is to play it like bracket 2 and not really try."Intent" seems to only matter upwards and not downwards. Which indicates it is just a rule shark angle shoot tool.
>>98241972What do you mean? Yes it is very normal for SLD cards to become extremely expensive after time. Especially if it is a psecific popular artist or a unique card. The Thoracle from a 2023 SLD is 250+ dollars in foil. It sold in a 40 dollar SLD that was unlimited in number (no sell out shit)

If they do Q as anything other than a Planeswalker, I'll be proper pissed.Still if you're going to do Marvel, you have to be careful insofar as you care about accurate whole-picture design translation, because there's a pretty clear hierarchy of who should be a Planeswalker without any unrelated power-ups and its not just based on powers but rather how explicitly and frequently their power allows them to hop and how well known that facet of their powers is. Making Thanos a Planeswalker but Dr. Strange a legendary hero would be silly. On that note, it's pretty clear from the lack of Stephen Strange that we'll be getting a Midnight Suns release too.
