>posting display units before official releaseI'm picking mine up today
>>98235854Post models.
>>98235854I can see at least 30 boxes GW sold to that store.
>>98235884No sane store owner would order that many copies of something like this, so it's probably a GW store.
>>98235896GW 40k edition sets are literally printing money for LGSes, they would definitely order 30+.
>>98235854Modern 40k art is so bad.
>>98235854that's my photo lmfao you fucking retard. My LGS was setting them up to display like a week before release day. I'm betting like half of those are gone by now.
>>98235948Are you willing to bet... your SOUL?
>>98235968I'm willing to bet a dollar
>>98235854>I posted it again!
>>98235948>My LGS was setting them up to display like a week before release day.it has a sign saying "secure yours today"
>>98235854This shit is expensive. Is it really worth $250?
>>98235896Look at the picture anon. Plenty of non-gw stuff in the background. A new launch box for 40k is probably the most profitable thing any lgs can stock.
>>98236303YeahAs in preorder
I mean, even as a starter box, this is both overcosted and very redundant. Overcosted in the fact new players won't pay nearly 300$ for a box of minis (even if they sell half of the minis, it's not like they will get much for them, considering everyone else will be doing the same). And redundant in the fact most veterans already have most of the things in the box (or know where to get them for free).I imagine this will sell better once the individual parts are released, but even then, this box is going to be a considerable disappointment for GW. The HH starter box is a much better offering, even if just because you can use all the bits on a single army.
>>98236305>is this set of cheap plastic, cardboard and paper worth $250?Do we really need to answer that for you anon.....
>>98235948google says it was posted on reddit is that where you came from too?
>>98236402Given that $250 is like two meals in a fancy restaurant.. yeah, it's probably worth it.It's 2026, and not 1990 after all.
>>98236390It's not a starter set for new players. This box is aimed at existing customers. Beginner and veteran starter sets will be released separately, with less stuff inside later.
>>98236414No? I only posted it here on /tg/. Someone obviously stole it.
>>98236305>750 points of orks>750 points of marines>rulebooks and shitYes.
>>98235854That “display” took them DAYS to assemble. Meanwhile look at what I(Me) did in just five minutes! Guess what they all say is true. Millennials and the generation that came after them are just stupid and incompetent
>>98236424Really? Then it's really redundant. What marine player doesn't have 20-30 basic bitch intercessors at this point? Or a captain? Or a librarian? Even the jump pack units, I'm sure most marine players have, either the old ones or the new ones. The only new stuff is the erradicators with heavy bolters (I hate how GW releases the same unit with different gun in different boxes, btw) and the land raider. At least ork players can always use more boys. What's in here for the marines to justify the price?
>>98236305$250 is worth $190 in 2020, so probably
>>98236305Not nearly as good as Indomitus or Leviathan, but at least the box is basic staples instead of shit like flamethrower marines.Biggest flaw is that instead of getting a full rulebook, you get "core rules" that are just a quick reference and a lore book that's essentially hardcover adcopy and sidelines the hell out of the ork side.Decal sheet doesn't even have Blood Axes or Snakebites so it's mostly useless to me.
>>98235854Quit spamming/flooding >>98171187Also these are pre-release boxes, you literally spelled out what you were gonna do in your other thread >>98202633
>>98235854OP you are a fucking retard. I hate 40k and all it stands for but I don't let it get to my mental faculties. Literally anyone that actually goes to an LGS knows they get early shipments and have to form piles of edition boxes before release date. Mine had the pile for 2 weeks now. They'll be gone by the time they start releasing the non-FOMO box versions.
>>98236305Nothing GW is 'worth' what it is sold. That said as far as starter boxes go I think it covers a solid spread for both armies, with base troops, a HQ, a psyker, a speeder/trak and so on. Definitely a better starter in term of unit variety and covering the bases an oldschool army would have had if not for nu40k ditching the force org.Good shit imo, but nothing is worth GW prices.
If you give GW your money, you're a fucking faggot.A huge fucking faggot that spends all day taking cocks up the ass, and thinking about faggotry.
>>98236305While its a way worse deal than Leviathan was, its still much, much less than GW would sell the contents for in any other context. So if you're already a GW customer and want whats in it, its worth it by the standards GW has gotten you used to. If you don't want the contents then it will never be worth it.I don't really want the 3 heavy bolter marines but other than that I would like everything in it, so its worth it.
I wish poor people would gtfo the hobby already.
>>98236476Spot on. I'm a marine player and the only thing that might be interesting is the vanguard vet resculpt, but they're dull and lacking in bling.Tac squad, Devastators, Vanguard and a rescaled rhino would have been a draw. Get the grognards some red meat for once.
>>98243446>I wish poor people would gtfo the hobby already.>the hobbyLOLLMAO evenSqueal more paypig
>>98235854could be worse
>>98236305>is it worth $250LOL fuck no, it’s laughably incomplete for new players and has nothing to offer existing players that won’t be available on wahapedia shortly if not already.Even assuming you can sell whichever half you don’t want for $100 on eBay you still need several hundreds of dollars more models to have a functional full sized force, even more to buy codexes and other shit, most of which will be obsolete in two to three years. That’s even assuming they bother playtesting it properly (which they clearly didn’t in tenth); that the codex is written by someone who doesn’t hate the army they’re writing for (hello Tyranids); and that you want to play a shallow, overly complex shitfest over garbage terrain that is designed around the needs of sweaty tournament spergs who think wargaming should be Magic: The Gathering with plastic models.Anyone considering buying into 11th after the serious decline in quality from 5th through 10th should punch themself in the balls. You’d get a better ROI from a $150 hooker and 20 rounds of $5 a hand blackjack.
>>98243468refreshed mkVII sculpts would sell a fair bit, but i'd hazard a guess that they will never do that for 40k. it's a possibility for hh though
>>98243575I don't get it. did these flop really hard or something? Why would any LGS owner order this many for a niche faction in a niche game?
>>98243652Because GW gives bundle deals to some stores: buy X amount of dust collecting shit and you get y discount on your 40k boxes.
>>98243629What if I'm not poor, and spending $500 on a hobby like warhammer every 2 or 3 years isn't a big deal because spending less than $200 a year on any hobby is not a lot?I'd like to know what your anon approved hobbies are that cost less than $200 a year
>>98235896Nigga did you miss all the NON GW products literally in the shot?
>>98243629>tournament spergs who think wargaming should be Magic: The Gathering with plastic modelselaborate. how are they even remotely similar?
>>98235854I don't think it's a coincidence that my own LGS, which ALSO grossly over ordered, made the same gay formation with all their unsold boxes.GW must have sent out instructions on how to display the stupid things. And yes, this is something companies will do.
>>98244053Of course companies do that. You can see it in pretty much every supermarket. How else would you stack up boxes in the middle of a room?
>>98244029NTA, but even compared to similar products like historical models, pound per pound warhammer costs like 300% more.I can afford a 20$ ice cream cone, but I am still going to complain and not support it because a 20$ ice cream cone is a rip off and I dont want to support price gouging.
>>98235854Updated picture from yesterdayF L O P
>>98244062Depends a lot on the historical model in question and how serious you are with that hobby.
>>98244092not really. for 28mm for industry standard good quality like Victrix or Perry, that estimate is pretty on point.
apologize
>>98244073So if I go to Adepticon next year I will go one of these for free? Sweet
>>98244099Kinda not. It's like want to eat vanilla ice-cream and it's sold for $20 only. Telling you that the next door ice-cream is only $5, but they only have chocolate taste. I can ignore my desire for vanilla, and buy a completely different taste and while technically it's both ice-cream, it is still not the same.
>>98244062It does not matter if you personally consider $20 a lot of money or not. Objectively it's not, and neither is $200-300 considering it's the entry cost into a hobby. It's 2026, and if you have a somewhat normal job you can easily spend that amount of money, without ever thinking twice about it. And if not, then you have to accept that that hobby is not for you. Like many other hobbies.
>>98235854The other edition boxes lasted for MONTHSI picked up one 9th super late
To be fair it's to their advantage to have extra copies since it's an intro product. And the economy is about to go off a cliff. And they can always rebox stuff, I remember Leviathan having a bunch of little spinoff starters for the timmies who couldn't afford the full set.
i'm sick of space marines and orks are a shitty meme faction for "The Guys" who would play only dwarves in WHFB. This box is for plebs.
>>98244109That at least had the skaven sickos in both aos and WHFB and ToW fiending for the first new none hero Skaven sculpts in like 14 years. We get new space marines every other month and they tried a ork refresh with beastsnaggas and it didn't work.
>>98244352>To be fair it's to their advantage to have extra copies since it's an intro productMaybe if you're talking about 8th edition, but 9th onwards had smaller "intro boxes" that came in three tiers. The Big Box release is always for the hardcores, not the newcomers.
>>98235854Makes sense, at this price they should be painted like in the images.
>>98244539Nobody likes necrons dude
>>98244874NTA but I like old Necrons..
>>98244876No you don't
>>98235896>Non GW paints>Non GW hobby tools>Looks nothing like GW storesAre you retarded, Anon?
>>98244128Yah, but you are kind of admiting that they are adding 300% JUST because of a brand name. I would be pissed if ice cream at the vanilla ice cream joint costs thrice as much as the chocolate ice cream joint when chocolate and vanilla flavoring are approximately the same price.>>98244158It does because you know you are being jipped for what you are paying for. You are paying 20 dollars for the plastic, and 40 dollars for the warhammer name. I also think the replaceable electric tooth brush heads of certain comapnies are a racket, like 40 bucks for 6 heads. Even if I do buy it, im going to say its a SHITTY price. Brapatalism only works of you push back against unjustified price hikes.
>>98236581Funny thing, that’s actually two different posters. The second anon you linked actually posted earlier calling out OP for being a fag. >>98235948
