Is "Mensch ärgere Dich nicht" the best designed board game of all time?
The rules are easy to understand yet it has still enough strategic depth that a skilled player wins every time against a new player.

I've never seen this before, how is this played?

It's functionally a variant of backgammon. The only differences are a) 1d6 movement instead of 2d6, b) you can't stack pieces, and c) the board is a loop instead of a straight line.

>Mensch ärgere Dich nicht
Had no idea that there was no translated name for that, which is very funny to me for some reason.
Apparently, different nations have their own, relatively similar game anyway.

>Mensch ärgere Dich nicht
Never heard of this flavour of the month zoomer slop.
"Mens erger je niet" on the other hand? Now that's a classic.

The Spanish version "parchis" is better.
>board is bigger
>capturing an opponent piece by landing in the same field lets you advance 20 spaces
>multiple safe spaces where your pieces can't be captured so you can play aggressive or you can focus on setting traps and waiting for your chance to capture
>placing two of your pieces together on the same space makes a wall. No one can go through and your walling pieces can't be captured, so you can build a killing field behind. But the more you hold the wall, the more pieces you will have right behind you when you finally open up. You're forced to open if you roll a 6 or if you can't move any other piece
>having all 4 pieces outside allows you to roll 2d6 instead of 1d6
>bringing a piece to the end lets you advance 10 with another, but you can no longer get the 2d6 movement
The German version is too simple, there's too little room for strategy or different approaches.

That's bullshit.
In fact, a full game will statistically be very close because everyone will get kicked multiple times and eventually it will be really who is the first to have a full house because everyone already has 3 in.
