Im going to bed, good luck figuring out what points to do JRPG Traitor for. Its cursed to always have argument that never gets resolved every time.Nobody can just be happy with the consensus everyone wants both more points and less points at the same time.I think 16 Basic 10 Advanced is fine, if you want to be weaker you can just not spend them all, or trade advanced for more basics, or take fluff powers like determination instead. It really limits the high tier stuff while giving us a broad base for our class. I just hope everyone creates a cool class and names it and stuff if we do play it. I dont want to party up with a generic fighter over Sword of the Eastern Winds or some shit.
>>98240769Just do last run's rules instead. That worked.Someone post the rules so it's set.
>>98240782We have the other thread to keep arguing about this, I think we're still split on 10/10 and 15/15 and probably best to leave it out of this thread for a bit.
>>98240787and spend our time talking about nothing else
>>98240782>>98240787>RulesYou get 15 Basic and 15 Advanced tokens as well as any powers given by your Fighting Style.Ignore tokens gained anywhere else. You can do a 1:2 exchange of Advanced Points (any type/color) for Basic Points (any type/color).Is what we did last time, but a majority of people wanted something a little lower power. So obviously we should do this, 5 points less on both sides and instead of getting your fighting style stuff you can spend the points however you wish even if its just to re buy the fighting style stuff.>RulesYou get 16 Basic and 10 Advanced tokensIgnore tokens gained anywhere else. You can do a 1:2 exchange of Advanced Points for Basic Points and vis versa.Expecting everyone to agree is dumb and will never happen, but this is the best middle ground between all the options, weve run it as 15/15 plenty of times, its time to give this a try since clearly that doesn't engage people.
>>98240812>but a majority of people wanted something a little lower power. No they didn't. It was 2 guys going back and forth.
>>98240812My name is anonymous and I agree with this suggestion
>>98240822>It was 2 guysNo it wasn't, you already know at least 4 people(possibly more) wanted it
>>98240812I'll take the 16/10, higher than I'd hoped but it's better than (essentially) 21/15.
>>98240812For reference the previous run was basically like 21 basic and 15 Advanced, so we are dropping a decent chunk but nothing absurd.>>98240822Were not discussing this, we can say that about the people wanting the 15/15 too. We can only go by what people were saying before it became meme, and most people were interested in the run as lower power before it was confirmed we were looking to run it, so they are the most believable voters.

Ill have to make a new build for it even though my previous build was one of the coolest I've made in terms of mechanics. I want to give this the best chance it can have.

>>98240844Ill make a build when I wake up if the shitposting doesnt drown it in the crib.
>>98240844Vibes? We roughly going for Band of Warriors of Light face the Demon King or letting people build and seeing what sticks? I want to write a character that's somewhat tied in with other builds.

>>98240844>>98240860>>98240875Sure. >>98240860>We roughly going for Band of Warriors of Light face the Demon KingI'd say we aim for this but don't stress if the mp goes somewhere else
>>98240908My vote is for the first one
>>98240908I think I wanna have an elf or half-elf spellsword. Scrappy village kid that stood up rather than someone that got chosen, maybe he feels unconfident or he has some kind of impostor syndrome? Like he can't do strength or magic super well so he combines them.I like both ideas. I like the thought of a recruited/redeemed boss, it's charming>>98240931That's fine honestly.
>>98240896Looking at my old build makes me sad about frauding back then, even if it went nowhere I'm sad I can't do anything with it now
>>98240941Thinking about it, what's the difference between a Spellblade and a Magic Knight anyway?
>>98240844Do we just ignore everything beyond the power picker then? Like the whole journey? What about the first page like Fighting Styles, do we just fluff it whatever way we want or keep that?
>>98240936Sure, then she's open for backstory intertwining with others who suffered under her temporary villainposting or who beat her up and explained to her that the Demon King is bad, actually.>>98240941I'm not sure you can manage 'not good at stuff,' even with the reduced budget but I like the character concept.
>>98240949Spellblades are casters that fight in melee while magic knights are martials that use magic
>>98240949typically in fiction one wears armor and the other is brown and comes from a desert country
>>98240953>Do we just ignore everything beyond the power picker then? Like the whole journey? What about the first page like Fighting Styles, do we just fluff it whatever way we want or keep that?Pretty much. I believe the idea is you make your own Class in the sense that you explain how your character works, but otherwise it's all just 16/10 and this time we're the Hero Party instead of a secret traitor (though secret traitors may actually exist).
>>98240959Okay, Magic Knight it is. I wanna have something like Chrono or the Dragon Quest protags, a sword guy but with some magic here and there>>98240957In the lore it says Magic Knights compensate for physical weakness with magic, so that's kinda what I could go for
>>98240860>>98240908I'm considering making a king slayer type of character, maybe looking back at some of the cyoa's lore to come up with what kingdom's king he betrayed. Sorta like a werewolf Jaime Lannister maybe? Not certain yet. If I go for that, then perhaps the innawoods witch-doctor would have some insight into how he became a shifter/werewolf/whatever through like an occult spirit magic ritual? Or recognize things others don't? Would likely be more to work with once I get a much less rough concept down. Up for suggestions from other anons as well either on the base concept or how to integrate it with their own build ideas.
>>98240844>Ignore tokens gained anywhere else.Does that mean class and race are irrelevant?
>>98240984If you want something particularly fucked up then the Lamia-Doctor could've been the one that transformed him, since I'll be going heavily into Fleshcrafting/Healing/Cursing. If that's too much though then she'd definitely be up for helping him with that.
>>98240999Just fluff
>>98240999Essentially, I'd personally use abilities to flavour it, ala taking Agility, Strength and Toughness if you're meant to be some superhuman thing.
>>98240999They determine some thigns you can buy
>>98241029>thighs you can buyhot
>>98241013Funnily enough I'm struggling to come up with a low level skill set. I wanna maybe grab electric or fire elemental control, and a few things that would be useful to a fast scrappy swordsman, like Jump or Flash. I want him (her?) to be some sort of underdog, a team kid too
>>98241080more like the team onahole

She recieved only the best training and took to it eagerly at first, though it soon grew dull - There was no danger, no excitement or adventure. She was being prepared meticulously to ensure that there was no chance of failure. It chafed at her spirit and before long she slipped away from the monastary she was training at and took to the road to do good deeds and slay evil wherever it may rise. Naive and innocent, she is the textbook example of a sheltered 'Hero' type. She believes she can and will save everyone and will take it very hard if she fails in her duties. Luckily for her she doesn't know when to quit and stubbornly refuses to stand down in the face of injustice. The ground beneath her feet will break before her will to fight, standing her ground through broken bones and punctured lungs alike. A martyr in shining armor with a panoply of weapons made of light. She has a habit of picking up strays as she travels, and is always willing to lend a hand to another party in need.

It was this fear that allowed [Villain] to seduce Eurayle into his service - by secretly scheming to have the forces of men slaughter her sisters, he provoked a terrible vengeance in the serpent-warrior's mind. After some months of terrorizing [Kingdom] through an army of tamed beasts and hypnotized bandits, Eurayle would face [The Party] as one of their first great challenges. Though she and her force of thralls were ultimately defeated, [Character]'s mercy saved her from execution for her crimes. With [Villains]'s manipulations revealed, she has joined [The Party] to both atone for her sins and seek revenge on the true architect of her people's deaths. She is charismatic, commanding and clever, but often too arrogant for her own good. Despite her new fealty, she cannot yet bring herself to trust the mortal races as a whole - though some among [The Party] are well on their way to earning her trust and softening her cold, scaly exterior.Bit of a test for a different idea than the Witch-Doctor, pivoted to make her more 'tutorial boss' like for the JRPG theme, all the way down to giving her almost RPG-style mechanics with Serpent's Killing Strike and her debuff spam. Thoughts? Still figuring out the exacts and unsure about the art.

Shy do vampfags and magefags hate each other? Apparently it goes all the way back to the 90s
>>98242176Vampire is a game about tragedy. All your powers come at an unbearable cost, YHVH hates you and you've become something less than Human that will one day either kill yourself or go to sleep forever. Vampire players love the tradeoff, myself included, of being edgy and tormented and feeling smug because you're more 'complex and nuanced,' than other players.Mage has very few drawbacks except that dumb normal people can't understand your 300IQ revelations about the universe and is more of a power fantasy. This draws a lot of people who want to play 'the best' thing in the game so they can show off how superior they are to others by being the strongest. The Mage players usually start it, but both sides participate readily in the smug-off and denounce the other's taste as trash for either being edgy and contrarian or arrogant. Most players of both sides don't care though.
>>98242153>>98242160I had to keep a little bit of the ancient Greeks being freaks in their honor but if you'd believe me it's more playing Marilith from Final Fantasy straight than fetish bait. JRPGT connecting poisons and mind control just turned out well and the idea flowed as I read the abilities.Ironically she'll probably be pretty bad at fighting amongst the main characters considering how little she invested into advanced martial stuff. Strong/fast enough to bully spellcasters and normals in a brawl but probably loses hard to dedicated martials. Might actually be a fun dynamic to have her humbled and trained by some of our Warrior Chads in sparring matches where she can't use her mind control or poison cheatcodes.

I was mostly abusing it to maximise available characters but will probably name the powers in full instead of using the provided shorthand in a finished sheet.
>>98242368That's kind of the point, anon. He's not supposed to seem super impressive or cool, but I just added -er to Jack because he's like a jack of all trades, I guess. Being completely honest I just made Link but if he was sick of adventuring and he wanted to go home, but he had gotten too good at adventuring and his legend had been blown out of proportion, so he'd stick around for the sake of others. I built Jacker with a lot of standard adventuring skills in mind rather than big fuck-off attacks. Jacker can also serve as a party face of sorts, he's a talker even if he's mostly talking out of his ass. He's also surprisingly good at puzzles, especially if the whole dungeon is a puzzle. But he's also cranky and generally underpowered, luck aside
>>98242390jacker just isn't a name at all, it sounds like a nickname for someone who was caught jacking off
>>98242387Honestly I wanted to make a magic knight until I saw you making one, so I radically changed direction. I kinda like this more than my original plan though. And yeah, they're totally different in how they each found the adventuring/hero life. Jacker would appreciate Lanna deep down for having the glint in her eye he never had, or maybe he once had it? He'd still probably groan if Lanna started reciting a heroic speech in front of him, but I can see Jacker offering a lot of teachable moments to Lanna in terms of overall adventuring, like traversing dungeons, not getting lost in a forest, survival skills, etc. I think they'd be more or less close in age, between 17/20? But Jacker learned from necessity and he's been at this for a while. I'm sure he can still learn a lot of proper combat form from her, since Jacker was mostly self-taught and Lanna had proper instruction.
>>98242405Oh I'm Eurayleanon, not Lannaanon, still, I'm very interested in the relationships the characters can have with each other and it sounds like you've got some solid ideas to differentiate them. That said, it's late for me, I'll head to bed and catch up with anything new in the morning.
>>98242387>I guess that makes for two strange mystical Demihumans to terrorise the party with their shenanigans. I can see her and Eurayle having very tense relations, but that's good drama fodderFunnily enough I was thinking this as I saw Eurayle posted just before I posted Madge. I could see moments where they work together well, Madge is getting excited and enjoying working with a peer, developing a rapport, and then remembering that she's not supposed to like other Demihumans and pulling away. Also, philosophical debates! Competing in mentoring other party members! Lot of potential with them being little(big) freaks. >>98242335If anything happens to Jacker I'm killing everyone in the party and then myself.

Its a really cool fluff. Honestly I probably over-invested in protag energy abilities and could still get it. I thought of them when making the build and thought it'd be a good faceclaim.
>>98243235Pretty sure its new builds so far, but I'm not familiar with the old JRPG runs. Even a quick look over I couldn't really see any similarities in old names or even abilities but I'm not exactly going to waste my time scouring it all exactly. The mention of using a picture of a character seems to be more of someone choosing the face claim and basing their character around the original source, not bringing it from another run.

>>98242483>Competing in mentoring other party members! This might be the best dynamic between the two since Madge strikes me as a very pious/fate-wills-it sort of person wheras Eurayle is the total opposite and believes in will-to-power.It might be extra funny if Madge is the kinder, more reasonable one and Eurayle is the Vegeta, but they both hit the kids with the exact same "we're going to have to kill this guy," spiel whenever they get too merciful.>>98242849I'm still not quite settled on everything Eurayle if you want to work on differentiating them a bit. If not, the Merchant/Crafter sounds cool, we're primarily missing out on an arcanist and basically any kind of crafting so that'd have a lot of room in the group to thrive at the moment.>>98243066Interesting, she might be partially responsible for Eurayle not being immediately killed. That is until the fateful day she took [Villain] under her wing as his pursuit of the elements was more ambitious than her own. During their time training and traveling together, both acquired a fascination over the element Dark. It's small usages of mana meant it could be utilized far more often than any of the other elements. They both became fixated on it and continued to push each other, creating more destructive methods to utilize the Dark. Eventually, they had all but mastered it. It was then [Villain] had taken an unexpected and sudden leave, claiming Cyreina's frail age had made her senile as an instructor and that the path to ultimate power did not lie in merely mastering a single element. Cyreina, however, disagreed. She knew that she just needed more time to prove her insolent pupil wrong. She became more obsessed with the Dark. Studying every avenue of it until itconsumed her being. With her new monstrous form, she is eager to face her former pupil once more. She has joined [The Party] under the guise of a plain elderly sorceress seeking to bring [Villain] to justice. To appear more innocuous, she also disguises her Dark spells as other elements.

She'd also attempt to whip Madge and Cyrenia into weaponly fighting shape even if they probably both give her a resounding 'no.' She'd want Bram to be more strategic but still probably hasn't gotten over him completely mogging her in the inevitable sparring they've had. From the other perspective, I imagine Noire and Lanna have been attempting to influence Erayle into being a better person with limited success. If we get Crafter/Golemman then she's definitely been pestering them to upgrade her equipment as often as possible since she's very interested in high quality weapons and armour (depending on the finalized build she might have Forge/Enchant but that's barebones minimalism rather than BIG Craft bucks).>WorldbuildingWill be releasing the Lamia Files alongside Eurayle's build for fodder sometime today. Trying to defetish it a little bit but there's only so much I can do with the tropes of ' all-women man eating hypnotic snake women that may or may not steal men to reproduce.' Thanks Greece.
>>98244969no I dont have a problem with people who didnt play wod. >>98245011Brother, people can enjoy things you don't. You're talking about some silent majority here, because guess what man. Nothing stops someone from pitching a CYOA and trying to make an MP out of it. That's what happens with every MP. JRPG included. You're acting like the majority were suppressed when they always had the option. There's no such thing as wasting everyone's time when everyone can do as they want. It's not a hostage situation.
>>98245032and yet we dont actually have multiple adventures running together. weird how that works innit?
>>98245041Are people psychically channeling their collective will and forcing other people to not post? Like what are you actually saying here? Do you feel isolated or threatened to the point that you're afraid of pitching something? It's odd to be ignoring years of thread activity and behavior to imply something I don't even fully understand here. No one is forced to wait, if they didn't feel like doing something else during that time then it's just how it is.
>>98245000I like this "overbearing mom" act. Jacker would grow tired of it fast, but that's the fun of it. >she packed him cookies AGAIN>I can write a scenario for Euraylequest but it's probably better if that's retroactive.I agree, it should be retroactive. Starting out with the whole party together is the best thing to do for the convenience of the MP. I think we should try to think of a more immediate adventure path to write about. I might also write a relationship chart sometime soon too
>>98244852NTA but it makes sense with the very nature of anime and such. We love watching shows where there are winners and losers, and personally it does entertain me to beat down weaker CYOAs to show who actually dominates these threads. Jacker would grow tired of it fast, but that's the fun of it.To be clear while there might be a bit of overbearing mom to it it'll mostly be Spartan/Drill Sergeant type stuff. She's making sure everyone's eating their nutritious blood soup, maintaining their gear and doing their exercises and critiquing people on their technique. Very strict with a hint of protectiveness over tough love, at least to begin with. She might not be able to match anyone's magic, Bram's physicality or Madge's wisdom but one thing she knows better than all the characters so far is war, so she's trying to shape up the party into being a unit and probably failing.

What I don't understand the most about this vampire hater guy is that he keeps saying that people wanted a lower power adventure and that vampire somehow came out of that. How? I think the issues with vampires specifically were threefold>A byzantine CYOA structure with constamt back and forth between sections>Having to effectively build two characters with the sire related stuff>The VtM setting involving such a consolidated bureaucratic setting of councils, conspiracies and ceremonies that some anons probably didn't want to take into account

>>98245290you forgot to mention the sameness of builds in particular everyone trying their hardest to remove their own curses like they didnt even actually want to be vampires in the first placefor such a godawfully long clumsy adventure it really didnt have many actual options which is another black mark on it
>>98240844>ESS;(KIB), ESS;(SCR), CHAUNT (Creation), FF:ATAVISM, ELE;(SISH), ELE;(/), 3-EYE, TA HIERA, YOOD, STA;(MUNG)Is this too much of a buff for the Demons?
>>98245226>How? VtM also has flashy powers and strange monsters, it's a high power setting, and the cyoa gives access to that high power even to the high gens that normally wouldn't have it. Where is he getting his arguments from?Vampires don't pass the hillbilly tier robots theorem
>>98245312That's your mudcore? Superheroes, cultivation, and star wars?
>>98245312>>98245329That's lowgrade cultivator and not midgrade. Anyway Star Wars is generally pretty mudcore, and I think anon means street tier rather than city superheroes, which is also mudcore.
>>98245320Yes
Added my guy half-way through the process to not focus too much on my own stuff. Madge, Bram and Cyreina left. About Cyreina, what does her old lady form look like?
>>98245340Yeah, street, city, pretty much the same thing. Just different words.
>>98245320I think one way to help judge these things is to ask yourself "would a fight against this build actually be interesting?"
>>98245312>city tier superhero not impressiveNigger are you only satisfied with planetary shit? Are you sure you don't have a main character problem? Do you actually want multi-player adventures?>>98245290Those first two definitely contributed to the long time it took me to make something. I had two spreadsheets running to keep track of both Sire and Childe stats.
>>98245347City tier implies a guy could blow up a city with his full power though
>>98245329Superheroes and cultivators aren't mudcore as a concept, what i was saying is that the lower tiers of both still trump high tier vampires. Aka vampires are mudcore.
>>98245312Mid level cultivators are the ones who can pick up mountains to hollow out for a wine cup and that play pinball with continents, so that probably doesn't apply as well. You're right that it's not mudcore though, since mudcore is supposed to be literally normal humans tier or at least close to it. The goalpost has moved weirdly far there.
>>98245350>we should have just mandated everyone go sireless but given a few bonus discipline unlocks or something to compensateHow could we have been so blind vampirebros
>>98245247Nice, thanks again.>>98245236I don't know if we're running with the setting, much less Belya'al yet, but go for a villain build if you want, sure. I'm not quite sure how much interaction they'd get it'd be cool to have an antagonist to play off.As for how powerful, if you're some kind of Midboss I'd be fine with you taking an extra few points so they can challenge a few members of the party. That's just my take though.
>>98245355That's... really not how it works. JRPG Traitor would be mudcore then because we're barely in the upper half of power within the setting. Especially with our point budget rule.
vampires can't do any of these so they're mudcore
>>98245375I would disagree with artificial budget limits on principle, but their existence in this specific case doesn't make JRPG itself mudcore. Just powerchads temporarily larping as something lesser, you know.
>>98245375being weak or strong in setting doesn't make it mudcore, Yujiro from Baki is mudcore for instancewhat matters is feats and the power the character has
>>98245380PotenceCelerityProteanVicissitudeThamaturgyA lot of them can.
>>98245320We have a dude who could theoretically speedblitz someone through a mountain, even if narratively he is a little dumb and unavailable. We also have just about the strongest Dark Caster and Dream Caster you can get without an Apotheosis.Don't worry, the party might be -5/-5 compared to our usual but we still kick ass.
>>98245388And this makes Vampires mudcore how? Again, you can stop Time, create tsunamis, get an Atomics Spirit, summon Demons. What exactly are you missing here?
>>98245380The only reason vampires could destroy multiple city blocks with their hands is because they're immortal enough to have weeks or months in which to do it. Yes, potence says you can punch through steel at the top end. No, that is not impressive.
>>98245390none of them in the cyoa can vaporize a skyscraper or a city block>>98245398>small building level tsunamicool tricks, still mudcore
Nothing says mudcore like Pseudoarchons, Blessed Body + Perfect Man or Elemental Apotheosis
>>98245380>>98245401Meant to respond to >>98245390
>>98245349It's not really a fighting build. The key is that it proves the demons right, giving them as objective of a moral high ground as possible; shows them how to regain godhood; and teaches them TA HIERA, which is arguably the strongest ability in the entire cyoa. In short, the build would multiply the power and influence of the demons.
>>98245398Call me when vampires can slice an entire mountain in half with one swing of their sword, then do the cool sheathing pose as it starts to smoothly slide away.
I wonder if I should take some creative liberties, because this is... certainly a choice of faceclaim. No offence to the anon either way, it's super cool in its own way and I want him to be happy seeing his build in here
>>98245413no one would give a shit lmao
>>98245405>elemental apotheosis, but choosing the earth and water elements>ultimate power>but made of literal mud>paradox of high powered madman ensues>universe implodedJust according to keikaku
>>98245390>>98245380Even animalism has the potential••••• •••• Plague of BeastsA Methuselah master of Animalism can bring about plagues of Biblical proportion. Expanding on Call the Wild, the vampire summons forth animals to her. However, instead of calling out in one animal’s tongue, the Beast itself cries out over miles or kilometers. This summons every animal to swarm around the Cainite, causing utter bedlam.System: Roll Charisma + Animal Ken (difficulty 8). Each success extends the radius outward one mile/1.5 km from the vampire. All animals in the area immediately rush in to follow the vampire’s bidding. However, with this raw quantity of animals, the vampire may only roughly direct them to simple actions. Most commonly, this involves attacking a target or ravaging a group. They will avoid targets at the vampire’s behest as well. Each turn, more animals arrive to swarm. Begin building a dice pool, which increases by two dice each turn. It continues to increase each turn, for a number of turns equal to the vampire’s successes. Each turn, the swarm can make an attack roll against every character in the vampire’s vicinity, less the vampire’s exempted targets. Use the accumulated dice pool for these attacks. Their damage dice pool is three plus successes, and they cause bashing damage.Additionally, the difficulty for Perception rolls increases by two for any characters within the swarm created by Plague of Beasts due to the chaos. Swarms are difficult to displace. Often fire will hold them off. But a large swarm acts with relentless fervor against anything that doesn’t present a clear danger to the whole.
>>98245413In theory it takes a colossal amount of effort to achieve a high end ability even if you have someone teach it to you. Having some kind of Super Demon Philosopher Bodhisattva for the Demons would be cool and it's not as if they can instantly buff the entire evil rmy anymore than the Evil Archmage or Evil General could, no?
>>98245435••••• •••• Ahriman’s DemesneThis power allows the vampire to summon a darkness so oppressive that it extinguishes the light of life — or unlife — of any victim trapped within it. Ahriman’s Demesne creates a 50-foot (or 15-meter) radius of void that issues from the Cainite’s hand and takes away the bodies of those it claims when it vanishes. The overwhelming darkness destroys friend and foe alike, claiming anyone unfortunate enough to be within its circumference.System: The player spends two points of Willpower and concentrates for three turns. During this time, the blackness billows out of the character’s hand, growing to fill the area. At the end of the third turn, the player rolls Manipulation + Occult (difficulty 6). Everyone in the darkness’ area suffers that many health levels of damage (aggravated, if the victims are vampires) outright — six successes yield six levels of damage, not six dice of damage. After Ahriman’s Demesne does its damage, it collapses, taking with it the bodies of any who died when they came in contact with the dreadful shadow.
>>98245440••••• •••• Pulse of the CityA vampire who has developed her Presence to this terrifying degree can control the emotional climate of the entire region around her, up to the size of a large city. This power is always in effect on a low level, attuning those who dwell in the area to the Kindred’s mood, but it can also be used to project a specific emotion into the minds of every being in the area. Pulse of the City affects residents much more strongly than tourists, and also has a significant impact on those individuals who might be elsewhere at the time but who still have strong ties to the affected city.System: The character must be present in the city in question, and have at least a casual, personal knowledge of its streets and makeup (maps won’t help). The player spends a Willpower point and rolls Charisma + Streetwise (difficulty 9, though specializations or Storyteller fiat may decrease this difficulty if the character is intimately familiar with a particular city). The number of successes indicates how long mortal residents are affected by the particular emotion that the character broadcasts; visitors with no ties to the area and supernatural beings are affected for a duration one success step lower. The character can choose to terminate this effect at any time before it expires.Successes Result1 success One minute2 successes 10 minutes3 successes One hour4 successes One day5 successes One week

>>98245445>>98245440>>98245435I will reflect on the potential for ranking adjustments here when it is actually available in the CYOA, which certainly could use an update.
>>98245440>>98245445lmfao these powers are mudcore as fuckand stop flooding the thread with your garbage retard
>>98245449OH GODHow do I use that in a lineup? Is the build itself built around being that big? I mean I'll do whatever I can here
>>98245458You simply don't know what mudcore is, or how OP these are.>>98245457Were actually stronger than normal since even a thinblood can take ancient discipline levels in the cyoa.••••• •••• Inward FocusSystem: The player spends four blood points to activate this power and an additional two blood points for every turn past the first that Inward Focus is maintained. There are three effects of this power: First, the character gains a number of extra actions during each turn equal to his unmodified Dexterity score. Second, the damage of his physical attacks is increased by three dice per dice pool. Finally, all damage inflicted on the character is halved and rounded down after the soak roll is made (so an attack that inflicts five health levels after soak is reduced to two health levels). This power may be used in conjunction with other Protean powers that modify the character‘s combat abilities, such as Shape of the Beast’s Wrath (above). It may also be used in conjunction with Celerity, Fortitude, and Potence, turning a vampire who has mastered this power into a truly terrifying opponent.••••• ••• Physical DefianceSystem: Spend five blood points per turn in Physical Defiance. Your character can move through space in any direction up to her full speed (which can be enhanced as normal with Celerity through additional blood expenditure). Wood, stone, water, flesh, or metal will simply give way as she passes through, exploding into splinters and chunks. She suffers no harm from the things she moves through. If she moves through another character, roll to attack with Dexterity + Athletics, adding Celerity as normal. The other character may attempt to dodge if eligible, but not block or parry. If successful, she fills the opponent’s health levels with lethal damage. Vampires must reflexively heal to avoid torpor. Mortals die instantly.
>>98245468••••• •••• Lunatic EruptionThis fearsome ability is only known to have been applied a few times in recorded Kindred history, most spectacularly during the final nights of the last battle of Carthage. It is effectively a psychic nuclear bomb, used to incite every intelligent being within several miles (kilometers) into an orgy of bloodlust and rage. It is suspected that the Malkavians have used the threat of this power as a bargaining chip in several key negotiations.System: The player spends four Willpower points and rolls Stamina + Intimidation (difficulty 8). The area of effect is determined by the number of successes scored:Successes Result1 success One city block2 successes An entire neighborhood3 successes A large downtown area4 successes Several neighborhoods5 successes An entire metropolitan area (approximately 30 miles or 45 kilometers)6+ successes An additional 10 miles or 15 kilometers for every success past 5Within this area, all sentient creatures fall prey to their baser instincts. Mortals spontaneously riot, looting and burning between bouts of mass violence. Kindred enter hunger-induced frenzies, draining dry as many vessels as they can sink their fangs into. An entire city can quite literally be driven temporarily insane by this power. Lunatic Eruption’s effects persist until the next sunrise, and anyone entering its area of effect (centered on the site at which it was used, not on the character who applied it) falls under its spell. However, momentum may carry the violence spawned by this power much farther — and keep it going much longer — than the power itself can force. Victims of Lunatic Eruption may resist with Self-Control/Instinct rolls (difficulty equal to the Dementation user’s permanent Willpower rating); each success provides one hour of lucidity, which most wise individuals use to leave the power’s area of effect (leaving the “blast radius” removes the power’s influence).

>>98244459>Party NameWe'd probably want to pick a name with some thematic tie-in to the overall adventure. Like if we're telling a story of a land overrun by evil, "Phoenix Wing" works well as the party revitalizes the land and it's nations with every step of their journey. That kinda thing.>How long?Shouldn't be too long since that would make the relationships more cemented. Takes away the chance to include some awkwardness in the relationships and the process of growing as a team if they're a long term party already. So I'd second the few months timeframe. In terms of party order, Noire could slot in anywhere. She probably just happened across the party while they were on a quest and started following them until they accepted the fact... Whether that quest was one person picking herbs in the woods or a mostly developed party first butting heads with Eurayle, or somewhere in between... No clue.>Party dynamics?I'd imagine Noire gets along with everyone to various extents, maybe helps keeps arguments civil since no one wants to argue in front of the kid. Typical team kid stuff.I imagine she and Lanna connect over being nosy do-gooders. Euryale and Madge are reliable teacher figures, even if on some things Noire might try to dig in her heels and insist she's right. For Jacker, maybe she's something like an annoying little sister who pokes fun at his lack of motivation but also finds him trustworthy. Bram is probably something like a playmate in her eyes, where she often throws waves of envoys at him to give him something to fight. And needless to say, Noire has no suspicions at all about Cyreina, just seems like a nice old lady who knows a lot about magic to her. Even if she knew, she'd probably insist Cyreina can be good anyway.Narratively, she's good for kicking off adventures. Sticking her nose in other people's problems, wandering off and into danger, etc. If someone needs an easy excuse to tie the party into a problem, she's a good resource to levy.

>>98244459>Party dynamics?Madge believes strongly in the tides of Fate; this is the true adaptation of the Kinfolk Demihumans. In a place so close to the Auspices and their followers, they adapted to follow those strange beings that make up all of existence. However, long generations have degenerated understanding of the principles of MANA-YOOD-SUSHAI into something much more instinctual than what modern scholars and theologians are familiar with. Her status as a True Prophet exacerbates this greatly. All this to say, for those who lack a solid foundation in knowledge of Mana or the teachings of the Auspices, she can be frustratingly cryptic and difficult to understand. This won't stop her from seeking out partymates to cavort with; the teachings of the Auspices have melded with traditional Kinfolk practices over the generations, and like many tribal customs rooted themselves deeply in community. Now, the Party is her community, and she will seek that connection within it, trying to keep her traditions alive all the while. Nightly primitive rituals, dances, and songs might be expected, if the party stops anywhere with enough empty space. She was a combination chef, medicine woman, spiritualist, teacher, protector, and de-facto diplomat of her tribe, and many of those roles will carry over. Partymembers can expect to eat a varied diet of freshly caught meats and freshly picked herbs, though the presentation might leave something to be desired. She is also inherently mothering, and Kinfolk society is matriarchal (with the matriarchs growing larger than other Kinfolk), and those are hard instincts to fight off. Once she gets attached to the younger members of the Party, she'll want to keep them safe as well as help them tread whatever path they are fated for.

Okay, until we get new builds I'm done.>>98246569>Constance and Jacker are summoners.Jacker has a familiar, I didn't even give him any of the summoning skills. He just has his horse.
The party's getting too big. I'm getting City Bus flashbacks.
>>98246616What's a good party size? We could split them a bit eventually as long as we have a way for members from different parties to reasonably interact on a consistent basis.
>>98246648I see it as a "company" with a separation in squads. Might make sense
>>98246648Most of them are dead builds. If all you post is a shopping list and 3 sentences of description then you're not actually in the mp.
>>98240844Not necessarily the final form but moved her to the rentry and spewed a bunch of train of thought lore on Eurayle (decided on that name instead of the more accurate mythological Euryale, sue me), the build and the Lamia as a whole. Future updates go here. It's getting late so I'll catch you all later and get started on the relationship chart tomorrow or so.https://rentry.org/JRPGTEurayle>>98246587We probably could do with some more 'normal' characters, yes, though with the points we have basically anyone who doesn't spread out risks being some incarnate godking, robot, elemental storm or conceptual being, but still.
>>98246587My premise was to essentially make a middle aged retired Elven veteran/war criminal from [Insert Really Awesome Background War] who's pulled a Thanos and is just chilling in a farm, repurposing his mechanical monstrosities for sentient (notably not sapient despite being Golemaxxed) farm equipment.Since [Elven Homeland] (admittedly justifiably) hates him, so he's hanging out in [Insert Human Kingdom Here], where having to deal with constant bureaucratic fuckery when he's just trying to live peacefully with has made him gain a sudden appetite for adventuring or villainy.Depending on whether or not he becomes a Hero or Villain, his personality would change. Whether it be just a good meaning but extremely emotionally detached Elf who can't comprehend why using corpses as bio-fuel for additional mid-battle efficiency is seen as horrific, or a genuine psychopath who's about one more "please give the Blacksmith's Guild your blueprints or else you'll face a 6.5% tax increase on your produce" away from Killdozer 2: Electric Boogaloo. Now that I'm writing this out I'm leaning towards the Villain Side. This will probably change from a Golemancer to something else as long as the core elements remain the same, and anons can suggest build types until something I find as cool as the original comes up.
>>98246665That sounds pretty cool honestly. Don't let us dictate what you want to do, but I do feel like we're sorely in need of villains.

Not that she's had the chance to consider anything else for long, as her hunger is all-consuming and often leads her to wander aimlessly, devouring whatever she comes across in a frenzy. For this reason, it would've been more appropriate to describe her as a particularly intelligent beast terrorizing [Kingdom] until recently, when her maw stole a piece of [Character]. For just a moment, she was filled by the power in their flesh, and the truth of her endless hunger became known to her: it is her right to devour just as Life must bloom and Death must take. Her thoughts are clearer now, but her drive to consume has taken on a greater meaning; thus, her endless feast has become even more fervent. She would have fully devoured [Character] if not stopped by [The Party] and forced to use her newfound clarity to bargain for her life. She boasted of her might and swore she would eat them last - really, it was likely pity that made them spare her. So far, Abby has served [The Party] faithfully and resisted the urge to eat farmers, though cattle tend to disappear in the villages they pass through, and she often eyes her new comrades with the look of a starved wolf.In terms of personality, Abby is somewhat aloof. She's unused to doing anything other than looking for the next meal and often fails to find reason to engage unless it leads to one. However, she's by no means shy, and will casually do and say things with little consideration. This causes a certain innocent bluntness and lack of modesty. He is capable of reliably eliminating key targets at the opening of an engagement, but his true danger increases as a fight continues. His endurance is exceptional, and prolonged combat seems to sharpen rather than diminish his efficiency, as though sustained violence aligns him more closely with the rhythm of battle. He specializes in disrupting enemy coordination and removing priority threats at any range. His presence on the battlefield feels like pressure being systematically stripped away from the enemy.Tall and slender, Varik cuts a striking figure. His features are almost unnaturally beautiful, but this impression is tempered by pale skin, heavy eyes, and a perpetually sickly appearance. He looks less like a warrior than a frail man who should be confined to bed, an impression quickly dispelled the moment battle begins.Quiet, courteous, and difficult to read, Varik moves comfortably among nobles despite his origins. He rarely raises his voice, rarely reveals his feelings, and has a habit of watching conversations more than participating in them. People tend to remember the impression he left more than the words he spoke. He is called many things in records and rumor: Varik the Bought Man, Varik the Hound, Varik the Pale Knight, Varik the Hand of the Emperor, Varik the Last, Varik the Betrayer.
>>98248124Varik was found as a small child by a beastman warband after a massacre involving human occultists. Whatever occurred there remains unclear, but the boy survived where no one else did. Taken to the beastlands, he was thrown into the gladiator pits and promised freedom should he earn it.Varik did not initially crave combat. He resisted it in a quiet, distant way that the beastmen found stranger than any ferocity. Yet when forced into the arena, something in him settled. Violence became legible to him, as if each exchange followed rules he could see before they were spoken. His life changed when the adventurer Augustus Alkia passed through the tribe during his travels. Invited to witness the gladiatorial games, Augustus took interest in the human boy fighting among beastmen and purchased his freedom. What began as compassion became a bond that endured for over a decade.Varik joined Augustus’s company and remained at his side through years of adventure, war, and triumph. When Augustus claimed the Alkian throne, Varik followed him into the Imperial Court, eventually becoming one of his most trusted knights and Hand of the Emperor. For many years he was regarded as one of the Empire’s great heroes, and it was well known the Emperor viewed the young man as a son. Then Augustus died. The Emperor and his retinue departed on a final campaign against a great evil, and only Varik returned. No one knows exactly what happened, but in the years since, countless rumors have filled the silence. Some say Varik failed the Emperor at a critical moment. Some say he abandoned his liege. Others whisper darker things. Whatever the truth, Varik quietly resigned his offices soon afterward and departed Alkia entirely. The Empress never truly recovered from her husband's death. Her grief, and Varik's abrupt departure, only further fed the rumors. To some, Varik's silence was the mark of a man carrying an unbearable loss. To others, it was all the proof they needed.

>>98249242I mean, it’s a reference to the Phoenix Feather item in Final Fantasy, which revives downed team members. An anon suggested something like that if we wanted to go for more of a “reclaiming a lost world little by little” story, which I personally think would be cool. >>98249261Personally I don’t think we need a leader. It’s just gonna bring hierarchy problems and make some people feel more important than others. It’s better if we try to get a plot started>>98249244>>98249207That said, if anons want this I won’t mind too much. I just won’t be too annoying about it in writing, Jacker’s a begrudging adventurer and he wouldn’t misuse authority to lord over people.
>>98249274To add to this, I nominate Oswin if we REALLY want a leader. He already has experience as the boss of a mine so he’d be good at leading a company of mercs
>>98249298Oswin works, I guess. He'd be a good background leader that wouldn't cause problems.
>>98249261So he's like a mascot.

Who all has Platoon? I assume they would take the lead in combat a lot for those who don't even if they aren't the leader type
>>98248473>>98248476Maybe we can order the builds a bit more? Even if it's just roles like Hero/Healer/Fighter/Mage/Wanderer like the cyoa.
>>98249366>Who all has Platoon?Euryale, Thayne, Varik. So an enemy we recently recruited (somehow the most trustworthy of the three) and two morally dubious knights are our combat commanders. Bleak.

>>98249367>Hero/Healer/Fighter/Mage/WandererI find this part of the cyoa fun, and a fun categorization for cards.
>>98249480Something like this, maybe? My takes are notoriously dogshit though. Heroes are the specifically hero-like builds. >>98249274I can't picture Jacker as that guy. He doesn't have the personality to bring people under his banner through pure charisma, and while he's experienced for a farm boy, he doesn't seem especially so compared to the average PC. Not enough to be like a mentor figure or someone forced to take charge when there's no other PC to do it. He strikes me as more of a begrudging companion/rival of a more conventional hero than a begrudging leader.

>>98250631Do you guys fall for FOMO and make builds for MPs you know fully well aren't for you?
>>98250771Kinda. I sit out of plenty, but sometimes I join ones I'm not super excited about in the hopes that anons builds will make up for it, and it rarely changes how I feel.
>>98250771Nta. I don't think I ever did that, I got the feel of the MP wrong a couple of times and joined something that looked like it was for me but wasn't. I think I more often fall for the opposite of that by now? Like, I want to join the MP because I like it but I'm afraid it's not going to last so I don't want to burn a build on it.

>>98251426>You do need some ELE;(???) to use with ???;(ELE) stuff, right? From what I understand of the system yes. There is no raw mana in this world. Or I guess technically Dark or Dream may be the closest to raw mana you get.
>>98251426Got two ELE;(???) and also one STA;(???), but I'm not sure if Strange Element counts for stuff like that. >>98251496>but I'm not sure if Strange Element counts for stuff like that.It doesn't, unless you have TA HIERA, which makes ESS, STA, and ELE into the same thing.> can someone explain to me how A-CAST and ENCHANT work, especially with PNLY;(ELE)?With panoply in particular they don't. Enchant is for making magic items, and Panply stuff isn't permanent. Enchant is for making, like, wind boots that make you faster or a sword that is on fire. A casting is for making spells into bullets, you need a spell to put in there, and when the bullet hits the spell happens. Which also doesn't work for panoply because it only makes melee weapons, it's for "martial" needs as the spell says. So you can't enchant your panoply or make guns with it, but I guess you could put them in a bullet, like an armoring bullet that creates a 3 times stronger armor and weapons around anyone it hits.Or you could enchant a gun so that it turns into a sword when needed?
>>98251561>Which also doesn't work for panoply because it only makes melee weapons, it's for "martial" needs as the spell says.Wait, where is it specified that panoply only makes melee weapons? Ranged weapons fall under "martial" category.
>>98251586>Ranged weapons fall under "martial" category. They do? Then I guess they can be made with magic weapon. Panoply is just a combined version of weapon and armor that makes both better, so I was taking from the weapon description.
Rolled 44, 85, 55, 3, 69, 48, 83, 8, 3, 10, 30, 7, 51, 63, 60, 44, 37, 36, 53, 1, 61, 78, 17, 53, 9 = 1008 (25d90)>>98251426>and summoning envoys to actually wield Panoply's weaponsReading more into the envoy spells descriptions, I realize they can't really wield the extra weapons. They are apparently more like just self-aware spells, not elementals. Maybe with Incarnated Envoys they could. I think I'll reroll a part of the rolls, maybe decide some of them go to red instead of blue/green to balance it out a bit more.>>98251652Martial is anything related to war. You can see it in stuff like there being archery focused martial arts like kyudo. It's basically just "related to Mars" so a god of war.Elemental Weapon doesn't specify what weapon you make, it's just "a weapon of choice". I do suspect that its workings on projectile weapon would be super weird, though. Maybe a an elemental fire gun would make sense though as some extra initial velocity canon. It likely wouldn't summon the ammunition, though, but then that roll of Ammunition Cast might could come in handy, but without extra spells for it, it feels like it's a bit pointless still and will probably go into the reroll pile.
So clearing up some stuff I felt like it didn't mesh well with stuff I already rolled and then going down the new rolls and adding stuff if it seemed like it fit, I've got this:>Basic RedHP REGEN Fast HealingDUEL Challenge EnemyESS;(SPD) Truth of CelerityAGL+ Feline SpeedSTOCK Accumulate Strength>Basic BlueWEPN;(ELE) Elemental WeaponARMOR;(ELE) Elemental ArmorENV_ALPHA;(ELE) Elemental EnvoyELE;(EARTH) Elemental Control: EarthELE;(FIRE) Elemental Control: FireSTEP;(ELE) Elemental QuickstepMP REGEN Generate Mana>Basic GreenWILL Stand Unbroken>Advanced RedLAZARUS Resurrection of FleshHP REGEN+ RegenerationEVOLVE Overcome Hardship>Advanced BluePNPLY;(ELE) Elemental PanoplyENV_DELTA;(ELE) Master Elemental EnvoyENV_BETA;(ELE) Advanced Elemental EnvoySo for some elements here:Envoys as the main big offensive options, especially long range.Close range, rely on Panoply, both from floating weapons and the on touch armor effect.Fire seems more straight-forward damaging, while Earth seems more like crowd-control or blunt damage. I'm tempted to reroll Earth too, but I don't see anything really worthwhile among my current backup rolls. There are some speed/mobility buffs too, Feline Speed, Truth of Celerity and Elemental Quickstep. There are no strength buffs beyond Accumulate Strength really, so physical attacks are rather pointless unless this goes into some super scaling. And behind it all, stands the nigh invincibility form Lazarus, that together with Evolve and MP Regen would mitigate a lot of drawbacks from the other stuff. Like the Elemental Armor warns about overuse, but here it won't be a problem. Big AOE attacks also don't seem that worrisome unless there are allies around, so they could be used in close range if needed. And, of course, Accumulate Strength will benefit greatly from it. Challenge Enemy grants some crowd-control combined with the tankiness. Stand Unbroken covers mental vulnerability.Just gotta match the fluff for that now.
