first for exodites this edition
>>98241229Now that the dust has inarguably completely and fully settled, why did 11th edition fail?
spiderbro hereJust got out of ER. I'll be ok.
>>98241229>TQ: How was your first game of the new edition?>he plays Warhammer 40K in the year of our lord 2026 lollmao
Drier bros... we rolled a 2+!
>>98241244who the hell are you?
>>98241244Famous last words.
When do we get the rest of this chart filled in?
What xenos does the Imperium consider lower priority to murder on sight?
>>98241241It was based on 10th
I like orks :D
>>98241229>TQI have not had one yet.
>>98241229>warhammer 40,000
>>98241249Warhammer 40 000
>>98241264Why do you want this filled in when it being filled in means Space Marines will be refreshed again?
>>98241264never
>>98241283of all the nomodels posters, I think niggaposter has to be my favorite.
>>98241265Non-sapient types.
>>98241244you can't be the same spiderbro making an army of spiders, can you?
Should I worry about building a 3k point army or 1k point army? I believe 2k points is the standard, correct?
>>98241271They should bring back specifically retarded orks.
>>98241265this makes my pp hard
Now that 10e can be preserved in amber for next generations, what do we think about it? Ignore codexes, since those are always unbalanced as fuck. Focus on the core rules and expansion content only. Was 10e really bad? Was it worse than 7e?
>>982413112k is standard, 1k is played for fun, you will never play 3k.
>>98241323It was good. No 8e kino, but better than 7e.I'll always curse it for the free wargear though.
>>98241265Tau and craftworld eldar probably. Since both of those actual civil and aren't interested in skinning you alive, and you can at least try talking with them first. Not that the Imperium does that much.Rest of them are either too dangerous, like orks, tyranids, GSC. Or not worth the effort to bother even talking with.Like necrons, they are all either stubborn as fuck or mindless automatons, or they are flayers who WILL skin you alive. Same goes for Deldar, they are pretty stubborn shits too, but they are more often backstabbing dickheads so further you stay away from their "skinning-you-alive-range" and less you talk with them the better.
>>98241304Life pulled me away from the hobby. (2 jobs) unrelated to spiders... I was bitten at work.
>hey we saw you from across the torture pits and we really like your vibe
>>98241311Nice having a 1k list for some fun/learning with your friends
>>98241348Hair dye is for sissies.
If I go to a lgs, can I find a game to play in, or is it mostly tournie play if you don't have a possie?
>>98241356Depends on the store, many won't even have tables. It's entirely possible though.
>>98241244>spiderbroYou're the only one calling yourself that, you autistic attention whore. Start a blog, nobody gives a fuck
>>98241346what were the chances
Can one of you guys post the Mega link for 40k novels
>>98241353He's an Eldar bro
>>98241363my location they're rumored to be one infested house in every three houses
Why do human beings still tolerate spiders? Surely there are some lab guys who could invent a plague to kill them all.
If I buy the codex in the current store, I get access to every update through every edition on the app?
>>98241382They're one of the main creatures that stops mosquitoes killing off the human race.
>>98241386You register the code in your codex which gives you access to that editions rules and will continually update itself in the app. It is only for that edition, no other edition.
>>98241387Why do human beings still tolerate mosquitoes? Surely there are some lab guys who could invent a plague to kill them all.Make it poison their blood and then it kills all the spiders too. Two birds with one stone.
Let Chaos Idols take this thread!
What is the most fun army to play against and why is it Orks?
>>98241229Any of you anons have the version of this comic where it's a Chaos Space Marine talking about a Venomcrawler?
>>98241406Shitty forced meme; probably just 1 guy posting it every thread.
>>98241405they tried>they're too spreadable
>>98241382they're goated fuck off
>>98241405We do have quite effective extermination methods for mosquitoes, we kill the mosquito populations by releasing huge amounts of genetically modified mosquitoes.Once the genetically modified mosquitoes mate with a normal mosquito, the normal mosquito lays eggs but those eggs just don't develop, you can essentially make a population collapse to near 0 in a few cycles.
>>98241264Grid is missing jump packs, terminators, and regular tacticus.
>>98241428And so the spiders will die off in a mass starvation event?
>>98241265Nonsentient.For sentient ones, probably Eldar and Tau.
>>98241414it's so funny how much rage this causesjust filter it, I doubt he changes the hash
>>98241408>What is the most fun army to play and why is it Orks? ftfy
>>98241414>probably just 1 guyanon, 90% of ritualposts are done by just 1 guy.
>>98241264Never now that GW realized primaris are unpopular and went back to original designs with Terminators, Scouts etc
>>98241474I don't mind Phobos, but Gravis is... fucking retarded
>>98241382Because most of them are ecologically valuable and eat pests, retard.
>>98241474>original designs with Terminators, ScoutsBoth of those have been updated with Primaris elements.
>>98241479Crazy that you like the worst one
>>98241483They are pests, that poor bozo actually got bitten by one. They're literally deranged creatures.
>>98241323There were some glaring errors in the rules at launch, like devastating wounds. And some absurd adjustments along the way, like the catch up mechanics. So when you ask about the core rules of 10th you kind of have to specify a time. Rules post all errata, ignoring codices, are fine.
>>98241489No, I said Gravis is retarded!
They said you'll be able to look up the rules for your opponent's army on the appDon't you only get access to rules you bought the codex for though? Or are they just expecting all of us to buy every codex?
>>98241492Human habitated zones are never cleared properly. I would've welcomed something.I have dogs anti bug spray I'll just dash on my shoes to make spiders go away. It's an oil coctail that smells minty.
>>98241323The codexes were the better part of 10th; the core rules of 10th were the problems. They took out too much of what made the game 40k.
>>98241505You can link your phones, which grants you the ability to look at your opponents list and associated rules for the duration of the game.
>TQI'll remember to forget to tell you about it when it happens.
>>98241507Getting nasty oil all over our shoes is not something we should have to put up with.Let's just kill them all.
>>98241414The truth will always be preached.
now that 10 man units of infiltrators and incursors are cheaper I have to buy another box of phobos marines.
>>98241382Because spiders only kill dumb people.
>>98241536Yet they don't discriminate where they drag their creep crawly asses and leave their gross webs.
>>98241474>and went back to original designs with TerminatorsThen why did they make more gravis in the Armageddon box? That's just them saying we are getting more gravis, which I don't mind since they are cool, gravis are perfect for devastator style units.
>>98241561I want melee Inceptors with big ass lightning claws.
>>98241574I don't, inceptors are trash. Normal ground based gravis is good.
>>98241574>lightning clawsYou're not thinking straight
>>98241405nigger population control, mainly
>>98241574>>98241582I want melee gargoyles that makes more sense than making imperial guard krieg platoons. Yet here we are.
I would like gravis more if they kept doing the integrated weaponry thing. Plasma shoulder guns, grav-fists, melta gauntlets, etc.
>>98241582Inceptors are based and we should have more inceptor platforms. You could even have big robot talons on their feet, it would be great. >>98241586Yeah, that'd be cool.
Can normal humans use bolters, if they find them?
>>98241586>Primaris Hoplitaes
>>98241597Bolter specifically made for a human to use? Yes.Bolter made for a space marine? No.
>>98241597Most often the answer is yes.
>>98241597Can and have.
>>98241405>surely there are some lab guys who could invent a plague to kill them allThey already have and it's proven extremely effective. They're just pussies and don't think we should completely eradicate a species despite said species being an unquestionably damaging spreader of disease and parasites with zero environmental weight which necessitates that risk be tolerated. We need to stop being faggot hippies about the natural world and start terraforming this bitch. Mosquitos, bed bugs, internal parasites, jews, ticks. Just wipe them all out with our superior human brains and improve the health of every other living thing that provides value to the world. Letting some little shit bug be a blight to humanity isn't ethical.
>>98241597Not easily, but sure.
>>98241586That is just slop.
>>98241265Why is this Sister way taller than the Eldar?
>>98241608Hell yes. Why should nature be exempt from man's laws?
>>98241408>>98241455A good krumping is always fun for both sides if your opponent isnt a faggot.
>>98241608>>98241616true, and the birds that eat our grain should be killed!
>>98241486Lolno
>>98241597There are different bolters for different people. Bolter just means it fires bolts, which are tiny rocket propelled gyrojets with explosive payload that also bore into armor. The technology can be applied in a variety of platforms.Regular humans have small bolt pistols and bolters. You can see these in Dakrtide for example. Then in the middle are Godwyn-Deaz bolters, which are for power-armored regular humans but can still be used be an un-armored human who has strong arm strength. Then at the upper end you have Astartes bolters, which are designed to be used by superhuman monsters. They will break your wrist when you shoot them. For a regular human to use an Astartes bolter, they would want to be wearing power armor, or brace it against the ground. There are stories of people using Astartes bolters, but they generally involve some extra hoops to jump through, like bracing the weapon against the ground/cover, or injuries afterward. There's also some leeway, and examples of exceptions. For example, Sgt Harker carries around a non-astartes heavy bolter just fine. He's just an above average strength human from a death world and they are the peak of what a non-augmented human can be.
>>98241621Have you just never bothered to look?
>>98241608>Mosquitos, bed bugs, internal parasites, jews, ticks.Kek
>>98241619Eagles eat tiny birds so we should keep the tiny birds for them.
>>98241405Mosquitos are a big part of the food chain and get eaten by small predators, which themselves are food to other predators.Fucking with the food chain can have really bad unforeseen knock-on effects. It's like how chinese during Mao's reign tried to fight off all the animals they viewed as vermin, only for all of it to just result in a fucked up famine that killed like 55 million people, and that's the conservative estimate.
>>98241443There have been a few studies about the ecological impact of eradicating mosquitos and the general consensus is that there would be, likely, near-zero actual impact to ecosystems and such. There aren't any predators that eat mosquitos exclusively because there's thousands of other flying insects available in every location mosquitos exist. The main reason we haven't is because we aren't 100% certain, and since this is the sort of thing you can't go back on, they want to be really really sure.
>>98241624Yeah it's not mentioned often but the strongest unaugmented humans can literally be as strong as an average marine. They're the kind of guys that if they were made into Marines become giant freaks even by Astartes standards like the chapter master of the space sharks.
>>98241641As for reference, I mean "conservative" as in this is was during Communist china, so who knows if they are even saying the truth that it was at max "Only 55 million", it could've been higher than that.
>>98241647>but the strongest unaugmented humans can literally be as strong as an average marine.Lmao no. Marines can bench press tanks and tear open armored doors and space ship bulkheads.A regular human is never going to be "as strong as an average marine", this is just retarded.
>>98241672Sgt. Harker would beat up an bog standard Marine
>>98241280Warhammer 40,000
>>98241680is that bricky?
>>98241672>Marines can bench press tanks and tear open armored doors and space ship bulkheads.Do you realize how retarded this sounds?>BUT DA LORE! DA LOOOOORE!!!
>>98241672>Marines can bench press tanksStop reading BL fanfic retard. Genestealers are explicitly stronger than marines in printed black and white text in the marines own words in rulebook lore. If they could "bench press tanks" a single Genestealer could pick up a Leman Russ and throw it across the table.
>>98241641The famine from the Great Leap Forward happened because the CCP completely reorganized the traditional agriculture in the entire country all at once, in the most retarded fashion possible, and then took 30% of the food produced and did nothing with it. Not a single person who knew how crops worked was in a position to make decisions about any of it, including what to plant, how much, when and where. It was not because they tried to kill bugs. It was because they completely bankrupted their agrarian peasant class in the span of less than a decade.
>>98241265Tau and Eldar.Orks, Nids, and Necrons are immediate kill on sight because of much of a constant threat they are
>>98241229>wmaf>af playing warhammerlol
>>98241621It's true!Observe. The first difference is the height obviously. But there are also: ankle disks, extra knee protection, big belt buckle, overlapping abdominal plates, vents located at the ribs...
>>98241280>>98241680you need to get a life
>>98241699could be weirder, could be wmbf
>>98241244Make sure to keep that bite area pressure free so you don't develop and eschar, for now. If they want you to keep it open and come back for more appointments fine, but otherwise I'd bandage it with a manuka honey alginate dressing to help fight infection. BRS Bites are a lot like compression ulcers in diabetics, the residual venom after cleaning slows down healing like crazy.
>>98241647>giant freaks even by Astartes standards like the chapter master of the space sharks
>>98241702Spin him around and you'll see he has the dread Primaris backpack dome, plus the cables on the on his back ribs. Also the bolt pistols are in Primaris style.
>>98241711i was advised a hot compress and antibiotics, got a tetnus shot, ultrasound for fluid buildup(there was none, I bet the holes seeped it out) and bandages+neosporinalso to pop anything that builds up on my own
>>98241474>primaris are unpopular>release another edition's worth of primaris
>>98241716Damn, what they feeding those Cadian boys
>>98241707"Wdym that the Dark Eldar ain't that "Dark"?"
>>98241716>the greatest miniatures wargame on earth>can even establish a consistent scale
>>98241729That spoilered bit is actually one of the most important components of this. There's no circulation inside an abscess, which means antibiotics can't get inside but nasty bacteria etc will thrive. You don't want to be bothering the site unnecessarily, lancing anything that looks suspect and draining it is crucial.
>>98241742the scale is consistent, that marine is just not that tall
>>98241736Their main selling point for the new intercessors was literally "look, some of them have old armour parts and helmets that don't look like the shitty faggy base primaris" they just obviously didn't go far enough because these pussies think they can cater to everyone at once by compromising and half-assing it.
>>98241745Thanks. Not a stranger to poking. The tetnus shot was a breeze. Sure I'm saying that now.>I'm certain I'll roll over and sleep on that shoulder tonight
>>98241750Yeah, but guess what? The multipart intercessors kit isn't changing. It's literally just an excuse to have slightly different intercessors in the box.
>>98241750>obviously didn't go far enoughthen what makes you think they are unpopular?
>>98241707does your black gf play warhammer anon?
>>98241759Are you retarded
My exgf a few years ago liked dnd and videogames and it was fun sharing hobbies like that. It's a shame girls who like 40k are even more rare than videogames/rpg's.
>>98241750they're experimenting with monopose to piss people off with the "we have different plates on the same models!" and when they see they have 4 of the same looking model with piecemeal plate parts it'll make people buy the base kits to avoid it
>>98241705He's a perpetually jealous secondary seething that there are people who have friends and actually play the game.
>>98241765lolno, I wish I had a gf let alone a black one :(
>>98241773DnD and vidya let women simulate social interactions, cooperation, relationships. Men are typically more likely to find mechanics, combat, and competition appealing. I think the number 1 thing 40k has going for it in terms of appealing to women is the hobby aspect, where they can be a bit more creative. For the most part, 40k just isn't built to appeal to most women and never will. Doesn't matter how many stronk female characters are put in the setting.
>>98241767>primaris are unpopular because they're reverting the designs!>actually they are not even doing it by much at all>but that's not proof primaris aren't unpopular, I swear!
Dark Eldar refresh is coming. I can feel it.
Why did 2k become the default? I thought in the 2nd-4th era, the game was balanced around 1500pts, with a lot of units being about 20% more expensive.
>>98241803they need to add more: dogs at work, puppies that train for work and puppydog apprentices to appeal to women.
>>98241817actually they get better results by adding dickish flamboyant dudes and gloomy aggressive antiheroes
So, what do you think is going to be in Codex Word Bearers aside from Lorgar, the new Defiler, land raiders, rhinos, and probably Erebus?
>>98241843word bearers aren't getting split from the normal chaos codex, that would be retarded
>>98241848They've got a daemon Primarch, and a Legion head on the defiler. Iron Warriors are going first, but the Word Bearers will follow.
>>98241843I imagine a focus on cultists and possessed.
>>98241843Kor Phaeron giving Terminators core keyword.Core Phaeron!
>>98241848Are you saying GW aren't retarded?
>>98241280Brother...why do you keep reposting this picture for weeks and months, even in other threads. Did you lose to this guy?
>>98241680Is it truly possible to attain this physique?
>>98241843I don't think we'll see a new codex for a while. You may even see codex mergers happening. The detachment keyword system is going to give them the ability to make subfactions within a single codex on par with Space Marine supplements, and they're going to use CSM to experiment with it. You watch.
>>98241699It is a bit funny. One would think she'd be playing TOW's Cathay, to appeal to the asian audience.
>>98241312they should and they will. they’ll run out of model ideas at some point, and then they’ll have to scrape the bottom of the barrel. its only a matter of time until the skitzos, maniks, and all other mad boyz run free to chase butterflies and hug enemy troops.
>>98241699I see them all the time, but I live in a highly asian neighborhood.
>>98241327Just game size creep, 6-7th were around 1750-1850pts, and by the time of 8th 2k become a tourney standard which creeped into regular play for most mega's.At the end of the day just ask if you want to play smaller points games, your not forced to play 2k so being the change you want in the world usually starts with you.
>>98241586Not sure if mega retarded or mega genius
>>98241479I really want to like Gravis, but the hoods ruin it for me.
>>98241843>what do you think is going to be in Codex Word Bearers Chaos, obviously.
>>98241924What army do they play?
>>98241929And the existence of Knights as an army warps the game around them to the point that lists kinda need the extra 250-500pts to have anti-knight tools in the toolbox.
>>98241937I mean the jump from 1750pts to 1850 back in 7th was due to all the space marine players wanting to run a librarian but not want to change their lists, so there many reasons for jumps over the years.I'll never advocate for list tailoring, but talking with your opponent about what army they're running can be healthy for the game since you may still go up against a skew list, but your still have an idea of what things to take, and so does your opponent, with out fully tailoring against a specific list.
>>98241229Real TQ>Would you crack the Asian game girl?
>>98241229>mfw I bring my fully painted Imperial Knight army to gaming night and I look around hoping someone will play with me (no one does)
On one hand Black Templar primaris marines are the coolest shit ever made. On the other hand Black Templar fans are the larpiest bunch of faggots around.
>>98241265Service xenos are the lowest because they're known and useful. Nonsapient too, Joekaro and technically Grox count.
>>98241944I would kinda like a system where you can sideboard a 250-500pt detachments for going into skew lists, but the game is played at 1500-1750. Especially in the compressed table sizes 40k is played at now. It kinda sucks that the early turns are the most impactful, instead of the greatest tension in the game coming in the middle in a nice rising action.
>>98241597I grabbed an Astartes Bolter. The machine-spirit cried in anger and exploded. It must've realized how much better I am and refused to dirty my hands with its presence because the explosion didn't harm me.
>>98241963it depends, does she play 40K and like orks>she doesn’t play 40K and doesn’t like orksno>she plays 40K, but doesn’t like orks no>she doesn’t play 40K, but does like orks maybe>she plays 40K, and likes orks yes :D

>>98241963I'm weak to average Asian women, so yes.
>>98242002Wait, wasn't there a part in a previous thread about how one dead guy got looted by an ally? How does that work then? Gene code wears off on death?

SHOO MANLET
>>98242002Sounds pretty stupid. It's not that hard to envision scenarios where a marine might need to pick up a fallen brother's bolter to keep fighting. Besides heretic astartes, what enemies are even going to try to use their bolters anyway? Normal humans can't reliably fire it off hand and the only xenos that might want it them are lootas.
>>98242012He said average
>>98242040I’m not sure if what he said is true, but that sounds really similar to Judge Dredd, so it might be a writer porting it from Dredd or the anon mistaking it, but I think that’s the problem because in the case of Dredd, they’re just super cops who go out alone into dangerous territory where the wrong move can get them killed easily, and then they have their weapon taken from them by people who ordinarily are wielding garbage. space marines are super soldiers in an actual war which means that anything that manages to kill an entire squad of marines is not going to get a huge advantage by picking their weapons.
>>98242013diversity is his strenf
>>98241624So Godwyn-Deaz are the ones Sisters would be using, since they're the unaugmented power armored humans?
Why is it that there are no eldar posters in these threads, yet posters vote them the worst of the general? Surely these aren't children who can't move on from a match they lost 15 years ago, right?
is there a scan of the mission deck out yet?
>>98241969This is gonna be me except imperial guard.
>>98242065anyone who thinks eldar are the worst posters here is a retard, but secondaries who are fans of a faction can technically be lumped in with other fans of that faction.
>>98241993That's sounds like gay tcg shit, just talk with your opponent or prepare properly if you going to a tourney.
I'm in the mood to make a small 500pts of Space Marines but from one of the niche weirder chapters. I know Legion of the Damned is the go to but what are some others that stuck with you? i swear i read a WD back in the day listing them.
>>98242040Muh Imperial sacred tech do not touch or anger machine spirit
>>98242040I’m pretty sure csm would use primaris weapons.Unless there is some kind of cultural or symbolic refusal to use them in battle so gw doesn’t have to make official chaos primaris.
>>98241614artists are usually putting their energy into drawing, not autistically consuming BL books and usually simply do not know that eldar are taller than humans
>>98242080>That's sounds like gay tcg shit,It is TCG shit, but Knights are even more of a list check at low points than higher>just talk with your opponent Obviously> prepare properly if you going to a tourneyYes, I think this has contributed to game point level creep to the 2k standard so that a take-all-comers tournament list can deal with Knights, whether through board control or bringing enough AT.The larger points values, which means more firepower, and smaller tables create pacing problems in a game engine built around medieval combat.
I don't understand why you'd ever make a space marine army out of a real chapter, Sisters army with a real order, etc. They're not 'your guys' if you aren't making them.
>>98241608they actually already did this lots of times and every single time it sucked ass because biodiversity is important to all life, as annoying as bugs are

>>98242118most of my armies are /mydudes/, but I do enjoy every aspect of the marines malevolent, so the idea of making /mydudes/ that are exactly like the marines malevolent would be a waste of time, and completely redundant when I can just use the actual marines malevolent.

>>98242134It seemed like there was one dude posting the picture all the time in any thread making fun of tournie fags always saying the same thing about him....now I think it's kind spread a little bit.
This is what the Eldar need more of.

>>98242061Yes precisely. It's their primary pattern of bolter. Sisters also use storm bolters and heavy bolters as well. Because of their armor. But even unarmored, they could operate a Godwyne-Deaz, and lots of people do.>>98241647That's not quite true. Ogryn are stronger than marines in pure application of strength, such as lifting or pulling, but they are inferior to marines when it comes to tactics, training, experience, agility, jumping, etc. So there is one linear way in which an abhuman is stronger, but if they were to actually fight, marines would beat ogryn like 95% of the time. >>98241672This is also not quite true, however. They can't literally bench press tanks. A marine can shoulder check through a brick wall or wooden structure while unarmored, and they can lift and move heavy stone or concrete statues that would normally take like 4+ normal men to do, but let's not go into hyperbole. They are stronger than the strongest current day weightlifter or any unaugmented human in 40k, but they're still below an ogryn and many of the monsters they face like hive tyrants and ork warbosses. Those actually can bench a car.
>>98241697Half of your post is right, but you also display a misunderstanding of the scenario and you're underestimating that the sparrow extinction really did have a major impact.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four_Pests_campaign>The extermination of sparrows – also known as the Eliminate Sparrows campaign – resulted in severe ecological imbalance, and was one of the causes of the Great Chinese Famine which lasted from 1959 to 1961, with an estimated death toll due to starvation ranging in the tens of millions (15 to 55 million)>Millions of sparrows were killed.[37] While the campaign was meant to increase yields, concurrent droughts and floods as well as the lacking sparrow population decreased rice yields.[38][39] The extermination of sparrows upset the ecological balance, which subsequently resulted in surging locust and insect populations that destroyed crops due to a lack of a natural predator.[40][41]>With no sparrows to eat them, locust populations ballooned, swarming the country and compounding the ecological problems already caused by the Great Leap Forward, including widespread deforestation and misuse of poisons and pesticides.[39] Although sparrows were removed from the Four Pests in 1960, the disruption of ecological balance, combined with errors in food distribution policies and the exaggeration of crop production figures, led to the Great Chinese Famine.[42][43][44][45] >According to a 2025 study, the anti-sparrow campaign accounted for a nearly 20 percent drop in crop production, leading to the deaths of two million people.[46]>By the end of the Four Pests campaign, the Eurasian tree sparrow was practically extinct from China, which afterwards imported 250,000 Eurasian tree sparrows from the Soviet Union to recover its population.[46][47]Do I agree bankrupting the agrarian peasant class was also the biggest factor? Sure. (That was the cause in the Soviet famines, where they did not kill their sparrows). But it definitely made it worse.

Because both in-lore and IRL, there are plenty of times when people have put in extra effort to keep specialty weapons through losses, but not the common general-issue rifles, because 99% of things that will break a weapon will also break the person carrying it.>>98242118For me, it's playing any sub-faction popular enough to have modeled named characters. There's not much difference between picking a glup shitto background unit and making your own. Either way, there's clear intent and personality. Meanwhile, if you play Space Wolves, it's going to be an uphill battle to convince someone that your choice wasn't explicitly BECAUSE they get a lot of support and attention and have their own painting guides and such.>>98242209At this point alliance rules only let Imperium armies borrow a few Sororitas, Imperial Agents, Knights, or Titans. A lot of lists take a few Knights as spare heavy armor. That said, Imperial Agents includes some Grey Knights and Deathwatch...

For example, if I have the detachments helhunt lance and bastions of tyranny selected for chaos knights, and I have a knight tyrant, the builder allows me to select enhancements from either detachment. Do I gain the detachment rules from both detachments, or do I choose a detachment for the knight to be in and he only has access to rules from that side?

I went to my first tourney this past weekend, the Open in Edmonton Canada, and I can't believe how much fun it was. I just wanted to recommend going to these things for anyone who was hesitant to go because their lists weren't ultra competitive or they didn't think they had the skill. You will be with 250 people who you probably have a lot in common with, and will never hit it off easier with people in your life. Even if you're not the most sociable.
>>98242674>we know how they work and they're mostly just a big chunk of metal with few moving partsBolters need regular servicing to function reliably and can jam. The third edition rulebook mentions them having feeding issues with drum mags in particular. In prolonged, dirty combat it makes sense to me that malfunctions would occur. Not to mention the fact that Marines don't seem to carry many spare mags on their person and realistically would run out of ammo fast, even in a small firefight. I suppose that's more of a suspension of disbelief thing.
>>98242674>enemy at the gates momentAre you referring to the charge scene where they get gunned down for retreating from the Germans? That movie was awful and I still enjoyed scenes of it but I feel like I’m disrespectful of the red army for thinking of the 40k imperial guard when I see that scene.Another bad Stalingrad film is called “Stalingrad.”It’s trailer had a great dark take on Louis Armstrong’s “what a wonderful world.”Which I think might be oddly fitting for warhammer 40k if any song was to emphasize it funnily enough.https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=t6K6qKJVU-wThe movie is dumb fun.But the trailer song oddly fits the tone of 40k without medieval Gregorian music stuff.

>>98242631Spirit Conclave is the Wraithhost flavored detachment, and the one you're probably going to go with if you want to build a wraith army. It's got three pretty straightforward army rules>Wraithblades/Wraithguards get Battleline, so you can take up to 6 per army instead of just 3>Psykers get "While a WRAITHBLADES, WRAITHGUARD or WRAITHLORD unit from your army is within 12" of this model, that unit has the Battle Focus ability." (Basically they get to use the Eldar's main faction rule now)>Each time a Psyker model is killed, the unit that killed it gets a Vengeful Dead token. When a Wraith construct attacks something with a Vengeful Dead token you add 1 to your hit and wound rolls. Gameplan is you send a bunch of cheap Psyker units like Warlock Skyrunners into your opponent so they die and get the Vengeful Dead tokens, then keep some Spiritseers near your Wraiths to shoot at them so they get the full bonus. My list in 10th edition was something like this>Eldrad Ulthran >3 Spiritseers>2 Warlock Skyrunners>2 Warlock Conclaves>3 Wraithlords>2 squads of Wraithguard with Wraith Cannons>1 squad of Wraithguard with D-Scythes>1 squad of Wraithblades with axes/shields>a squad of Guardian Defenders>6 Windriders>5 Rangers>A wave SerpentWraiths got a big points drop in 11th so I'm gonna tweak the list a bit to include more Rangers and throw in Path of the Outcast for flavor purposes, probably subbing out the Windriders for Shroud Runners. I wanna get what I've got painted up first though of course.
>considering elf army, reading the lore>Ulthwe full of grimdark black-and-bone psykers fuck yeah>maybe get Eldrad and a bunch of farseers and warlocks and shit, and wraiths! lots of wraiths!>Seer Council sounds like the perfect rule set for flavor>look up seer council>the strategems specifically exclude wraithswhy it always be like this
>>98242909>maybe get Eldrad and a bunch of farseers and warlocks and shit, and wraiths! lots of wraiths!literally spirit conclave
>>98242900okay, thanks for the writeup. i really want wraithblades to be a focus of the list so its nice to know i dont have to stop at 3
>>98242909Use one of the other 8 detachments?

>like the ease of push fit for putting together minis quickly>hate the monopose nature of themMy autistic ass wants a second set of intercessors to paint as another chapter but I hate seeing them all together in the same pose. I hope this new layout replaces the current intercessor kit fast.
Does the regular kabalite warrior box include the kill team upgrade sprue now, or do I have to hunt down the actual kill team box?
>>98242927Spirit conclave isn't about the psykers doing cool things it's about pumping the wraiths and having these lone little spirit seers walking around in the back to buff the wraiths. It's not the same at all :(
>>98242927spirit conclave does nothing to support a bunch of farseers and warlocks, though. It's clearly meant to be built around spiritseers (all enhancements are locked to spiritseers). The detachment rule rewards you for basically sacrificing cheap psykers, like sending a warlock skyrunner against a unit to die and put a token on it. You don't want to do that with Eldrad and warlocks dethatched to a guardian blob.
hello frens I was just informed that 11th edition is out. I abandoned the game because 10th was so shit and I couldn't find anyone to play oldhammer with. is 11th worth coming back for or is it more of the same? is there a qrd of the major changes I can read anywhere? are terrain and mission rules still dogshit? does every unit still have a bespoke rule that defines how you use it? can flash gitz have a leader now?
>>98242797welcome to modern esports
>>98243030do you think that 10th would be improved with more rules bloat, higher lethality and more gotchas? then 11th edition is for you.
>>98242797Tzaangors are cool, but the only thing I would take thats in power armor in thousand sons are and would be my own personal kitbashed terminators that are not affiliated with thousand sons but are instead warped by tzeentch because magnus is a twink that needs to get his hole stretched by me.
>>98243030If you left for oldhammer, what makes you think newhammer will make you happy.
>>98243030>are terrain and mission rules still dogshit?Terrain I would say is improved, but that's a low bar to clear. Mission rules, it depends on what you're looking for. They're still very game-ified.>does every unit still have a bespoke rule that defines how you use it?Codexes are carrying over from 10th, so until the 11th edition books roll out that's staying the same, and there's no evidence to suggest they plan to change it. For what it's worth, a few more of the bespoke rules have been standardized as core rules, like surge moves (aka you shot me now I waddle d6").>can flash gitz have a leader now?At present, no, because as mentioned everything is running off the 10e codex framework, but being the non-marine half of the launch set Orks are due for a healthy chunk of new models we haven't seen yet so stay tuned, we'll know more in the next month or two.
>>98241264You’re thinking about it wrong. It was supposed to be tacticus/gravis/phobos:>Troops: Intercessors and Assault Intercessors/Heavy Intercessors/Infiltrators and Incursors>Fast: Outriders/ Inceptors/ Reivers>Heavy Support:Hellblasters and Infernus/ Aggressors and Eradicators/Eliminators and SuppressorsBut then they added those silly looking missile launcher guys, and then terminators and jump packs came back (thankfully because I think gravis is goofy and contrived).
>>98243043because 90% of people realize Oldhammer is worse than any modern edition
>Kasrkin platoon in a stormlord and 4 AFVs and 4 Sentinels would still be just 1500 pointsGoddamn man what's a guy gotta do?
>>98243069Older editions (pre-6th) are comparatively better in that they do a better job of being a war game, but aren't "good" in terms of being particularly good rulesets. There was tons of stuff people complained about back then that could have been improved but GW has failed to actually do any of that.
>>98243043well I don't have anyone to play oldammer with so it's between 11th being worth playing or continuing to not play at all.>>98243044my main complaints with the terrain and mission rules in 10th and newer editions in general is that terrain is just magic squares that you stand inside. it doesn't really block movement and half of the time it doesn't even block los, so after turn 2 both players are basically just parking their armies inside the mission circles (which are way too close to each other) and rolling dice to see who dies.
>>98243030It's got a few decent adjustmentsYou can probably find a couple summaries on War-ComTerrain rules are still bloated, mission rules are still dumbevery unit still has a bespoke rule that defines how you use it and that will probably get worse.
>>98243075>Older editions (pre-6th) are comparatively better in that they do a better job of being a war game,Thats the issue, being a proper wargame doesn't make you a better game as a whole. It'd be like when discussing FPS games, ARMA being more realistic doesn't make it a better shooter than Quake.
>>98243030Major changes>Detachments now have one of five Force Dispositions assigned to them, determining what type of gameplan you want to go with (Kill everything, hold objectives, etc)>Detachments now cost between 1-3 Detachment Points, and you have 3 Detachment points to work with when armybuilding in 2K point games (ie: You can choose a 3DP detachment or a 1DP + a 2DP detachment and use both)>Characters are divided into Leaders & Supports, leaders can go solo but supports must be taken with a bodyguard (Bannernobs can lead Flashgits btw)>Objectives are terrain areas now instead of just circles. Map layouts are designed around these, but you're free to use whatever terrain you got >Battleshock is persistent now, so if you fail the roll you don't automatically become unshocked next turn>Models are considered hidden until they fire first, so armies don't get tabled across the map on T1. Models are hidden until you get something within 15" of them >Charge Phase now has you roll first and then decide to charge into instead of the other way around. Charging unit has fights first Minor changes>Fly now lets you go over any amount of terrain at a single 2" movement decrease no matter how many times you go up and down>Aircraft have been reworked (again) and now go in and out of the board to do hit and run attacks each turn>Models 3" off the gameboard vertically get +1 BS when shooting down.>Heavy lets you move up to 3 inches now to still get the benefits>Deep Strike is now called Ingress, you can set up within 8 inches of a unit now instead of 9>Cleave is a new keyword on melee weapons, it's just the melee version of Blast>Pistol is renamed Close-Quarters, works the same>Indirect units fail to hit on a 1-5 unless both your indirect remained stationary that turn and you have a friendly unit that can physically see the model you're shooting>Unit coherencey is every model in a unit is within 2" of eachother within a 9" radius areaQuick sum-up of 11th.
>>98243102>determining what type of gameplan you want to go with (Kill everything, or lose to the guy who has to kill everything)

>>98243102>Models are considered hidden until they fire first, so armies don't get tabled across the map on T1. Models are hidden until you get something within 15" of themIs that universal or just for models in cover?
>>98243115Just in cover iirc
>>98243115Have to be on an area of terrain with dense cover and not have shot in your previous turn. Hidden status is not just on turn one and can be gained as long as the conditions are met.
So how long do we think it will take for GW to backtrack and divorce dispositions from detachments?
>>98243111I know of the drilled barrel meme but I fear doing it because I fear messing up the drilling and the barrel is drilled off center.
>>98242724I'm so so sorry. No board should have to deal with his bullshit.>>98242937I'm honestly surprised he never got doxxed considering he posted a ban message with his IP address visible.
>>98243140late 2027, either A : there's gonna be a codex that is blatantly written with the idea of you picking dispositions and then its gonna be put in the yearly rules update or B : The community will do it as a popular house rule and GW will cave for one mission pack
>>98243084It entirely depends on your target audience.Arma is a better simulation shooter than Quake for people who want that immersion Quake is a better "competitive"/fast paced shooter than Arma for people who want skilled FPS gameplay 6th 40k is better for wargamers/storytellers who want a narrative experience and detailed simulation 11th 40k is better for compfags who want a balanced experience and slightly more streamlined rules (although rules bloat has unfortunately replaced detail of simulation)
>>98243084Being a proper wargame makes you a better wargame. Newer editions are not good wargames or good games in general. Your comparison isn't apt because Arma and Quake are fundamentally different. Nobody would claim Arma would be a better game if you removed reloading and weapon sway and added lightning guns and quad damage pick ups even though that would make it more like Quake which is a good game. It would make it a much worse milsim and it wouldn't suddenly be a good arena shooter either.
>>98243109Killing everything isn't always the best plan for the kill everything gameplanI play knights and my opponent went and killed all my armigers going over the max score early and fucked himself over because he couldn't kill my big boys after so he went 3 turns scoring 0 for purge
>>98242962It's on the webstore, just need to go to the killteam section.
>>98243165>Being a proper wargame makes you a better wargame. We could say it makes you more like a wargame, the question is why is that inherently good.

So on top of the irl games you can play for the Battle of Deathmire. Taticus is also hosting an event and the results of the event will go towards if we can save Deathmire or not. I am kinda bummed cause I thought my Local GW store was going to be doing games so I could use my guard to fight to save Deathmire. But the guy working there just told me to record my game at home which is kinda of boring. I am now hitting myself for not getting some orks so I could run some 1k games of guard vs orks with my wife. So this Taticus event is the closest thing I have to help play a run in the story event. I have an awesome game store, I might try and get a game there if I can find an Ork player.

>>98243568Iron Hands versus Iron Warriors is a weird one. Like they're kind of a mirror match with no actual lore connection to each other.
>>98243197No, it's inherently what it is. I know this is a difficult concept for you troons to grasp, but things which more properly embody what they actually are are better than things which embody that thing less well. does anyone here paint Imperial fists? I saw pic rel and I like this dark ochre-y yellow. I like it more than the yellow GW uses which is a little more lemon-y. >>98243731I'm leaning into purple... but are those armor panels supposed to stay green? I could see an arguement for green if not
>>98243730Think its just a one off joke about some of their most revent big releases. Like the ones of Vashtorr going trick and treating the year he came out
>>98243734>they just acknowledged itthey really didn't, do you think any of these pictures is an acknowledgement of anything other than the fact these are characters who have featured in recent products?
>indirect fire can still hit hidden units

Since we're on the topic of Yvraine. What's she up to atm? I know very little of the nu-Eldar lore. But she got a really nice mini
>>98243794Nowhere. Ynnari just exist now, doing nothing. They got demoted from the main storyline for eldar to being basically just a background subfaction that lets you take some dark eldar units.
>>98243776I like his take on weirdboyz handlers/gaurds. Aluminium foil to counter psyker stuff is peak orkiness
>>98243806Uh... wow...Did Eldar get any proper lore after that? or didn't enough people buy Yvraine?
>>98243794Everyone abandoner her and her faction is essentially non-existent, at least until they try to push it again this edition since Ynnead is TOTALLY happening this time! All they have to do is beat Fulgrim!
>>98243730Witchhunter and templar finna boutta gonna trail of tears those witches
>>98243816Eldar have done literally nothing for the past 10 years except for the end of last edition when Yriel picked a fight with Huron and got completely BTFO for it.
>>98243817Jeez, gl Ynnead. Nobody is out gaying Fulgrim of all queers.
Reminder of that time a single Ork took down a whole genestealer cult, a titan, and a stompa.
>>98243816>Did Eldar get any proper lore after that?Eldar have basically been absent from the larger "story" for almost 10 years now. After GW buried Ynnari, they haven't done anything with eldar besides just making some books where they get shit on for real reason.>or didn't enough people buy Yvraine? The issue with the Ynnari was that they weren't even a faction really. The idea flopped because GW only released Yvraine, Visarch and Yncarne and then did nothing with them for years. Not even an elite squad kit that could've been Yvraine's bodyguards or something. It's like if GW made primaris, but then only released Calgar in gravis armor, a generic primaris captain and then a Repulsor tank. Of course primaris would've flopped then too. Also another factor is that the Ynnari story line was being written by Gav Thorpe. You know, the guy who hates the eldar and regularly shits on them in his books. The Ynnari Trilogy, was so fucking shit and badly received that GW cancelled it after the 2nd book. It's the series where we get dumb shit like an eldar craftworld INTENTIONALLY infecting themselves with the genestealers in an attempt to stay safe from Slaanesh, it's also the same craftworld that somehow had an AVATAR OF KHAINE, a warp construct made out of molten lava and metal, which isn't even organic, got infected by a genestealer and it was somehow also the fucking genestealer patriarch too.Even though that makes 0 sense based on how genestealer life cycle works.
Reminder of that time a single Fire Warrior took down a whole regiment of Steel Legion and Stormtroopers, a warband of Word Bearers and a Lord of Change.
>>98243859I wish this game was canon
>>98243847To be fair the boss nicked his hair squig
>>98243859Honestly this game should be remade, everyone kind of loves the meme of a fire warrior getting plot armour like that. And just any alien warrior on a pile of human skulls is fucking sick . And right hand tracing the skull where the tau would have their nasal slit and its just smooth, showing how *alien* humnans are to it is so good. The artsitic skull fingering really makes this cover
>>98243859 it's quiet. reminder gw added a "THIS DOESNT REPRESENT CURRENT 40K" disclaimer to the re-release, like they're ashamed of older 40k
>>98243859I like to think that Khorne just ignored everything else going on in the galaxy while he was supercharging that guy for giggles.>G'WON MY SON TAKE SOME FAAACKIN SKULLS
>>98243857I have no words really...Do people make fun of Yvraine on the TT?
>>98243895>Do people make fun of Yvraine on the TT?for that people would actually have to put her on the table and nobody does that
>>98243895Yvraine is only ever run on TT to give access to the Yncarne
>>98243662how is it supposed to ID their palm prints through an inch of armor
>>98243948the armour is shaped like their palm printand they cum on their hands so the gun picks up the genetic material when it's heldbasic stuff
>>98243956>out of ammo>nearby dead brother has his bolter to use>gotta give his dead ringer a quickie to unlock the DNA scan on itWhat the fuck astartes players? Mind explaining this one?
>>98243984maybe it just checks if you have the same geneseed or something, so dudes from the same legion can use each other's bolters and shitor maybe taking a brother's weapon, even a dead one, is considered less honorable than just whipping out your knife or whatever.
should I buy a tactical squad for all the bits?the MK4 box is soon and I want some variety for my red scorpions, no site seems to have the bitz I want in stock
>>98243895She's fine there as a unit. I haven't heard much complaints. However when Ynnari as a faction first introduced to the tabletop, they were hated because their rules were OP shit. Which obviously didn't help with their perception.
>>98243905You don't need to run her to put Ynarne in. Didn't need to in 10th, iirc didn't need to in 9th. Yncarne isn't that good in the first place, ever since he lost halving the damage and the ynnari detachment got nerfed to shit anyway.
>>98244008If you like the old HH mk4 plastic kit you should get one now, yes.
>>98241935>The Chaos that QUIT>The Chaos that almost got FIRED and is on defacto PROBATION right now>Totally predictable "Chaos" poor excuse for an Aussie homocollabs are not chaosThe only Chaos there is Peko and it ain't even close
>>98241597
>>98244060That's not a human, that's clearly a primaris marine.
What gsc detachment(s) would you use for a 1k point game?
>>98244060This looks like a piece of the gun broke off in his right hand and now he's looking at the broken gun like "oh shit well now what do I do"
>>98242514That's step 2 after a stab attempt, the butt of the stock is being thrust upwards not forward. The rifle is spinning in that example.Stabbing thrust.Swing butt stock up after pulling out to knock their head. (It's known that they will not die the nanosecond you stab them and they need to be knocked down)Third step is swing the blade back down or hit them again with the butt stock on top of their head if they're in a sitting position.
>>98243885To be fair, the game came out when the Tau were REALLY new and a bunch of the things that happen in the game no longer make sense (for example it ends with your Fire Warrior 1v1'ing a Lord of Change). Like half the worldbuilding from the tie-in novel is straight-up impossible now.
Would a SoB player get mad if I used SoB+Agents codex to represent a human+marine gear army?
>>98244094I feel like this is throwing b8 out for another marine height autism argument
>>98244094I dont understand what you mean by human+marine gear
>>98244095Nah. I bought a bunch of mk2 marines for chaos and since 11th dropped I might pivot to SoB codex.
>>98244096Sisters of battle are regular humans in marine gear. What if anyone was inside the armor carrying a bolter.
>>98244100Oh I get you, just regular dudes in power armour.Yeah, anyone can wear power armour, only the marine armour is specific to them.Regular humans can wear terminator armour too.
>>98244105Thinking a world that was fitted out to make old heresy era objects could have knights and MKII armor. I think a centerpiece knight or armigers would look nice with them.
>>98242986when I was playing spirit conclave, 1 or 2 spiritseers max. spirit seers cannot effectively support melee wraith units because 1, they’re slower than lords 2, they can get left behind in the charge phase and 3, support melee means losing the lone OP. for shooty boys, sustained hits does nothing for your d scythes when I was playing spirit conclave, a guardian/farseer/warlock brick was my combat wraith support. nasty flamers make an overwatch threat, lots of anti infantry shooting to clear screens, and shockingly durable with -1 to wound and -2 to charge. ultimately I abandoned spirit conclave to play seer council, where, in my opinion, d scythe guard and wraithlords still have play. You don’t have infinite cp/strands of fate, some units that don’t rely on your strats to perform is valuable. >TLDR: psykers of all flavors are valuable and important in spirit conclave lists. you need expendable ones for actions and wrath tokens, you need durabl(ish) ones to keep your wraiths effective>>98242998the tokens *are* nice, but if the only psykers you’re running are spiritseers and skyrunners, I think you’re setting yourself up to fail. both of those units are comically fragile, your opponent can use pretty much anything to kill that unit, so he choses where your wrath tokens are going. furthermore, if you run out of psykers, you’re only breaking even with the wrath tokens and you lose battlefocus. at least one farseer/warlock/guardian brick brings a lot of value to the army, and I run one of those and a eldrad/warlock/guardian brick. going into the new edition, the conclave/guardian points decreases offset the eldrad increase. I think spirit conclave is more interesting now, and I will play around with it. all the key units got cheaper or stayed the same, but the detachment rule still kinda sucks, the enhancements are bad/too expensive, and the stratagems suck.
>>98243571he doesn’t have a “known” scheme because the old model had a dark red helmet, dark faceplate, gold gun, and green scale talbard. it’s craftworld eldar, we don’t get lore, paint your elves however you want, pic related
is there a reason to ever pivot your models outside of squeezing them through terrain gaps considering you can shoot and move in any direction without pivoting i guess there's like a niche case of "your unit's ranged can shoot 2 feet and right now the corner of my rhino is 23 inches so i'll pivot to get it out of range"t. owns no vehicles
>>98243216The last week will be the in-store only week. Obviously, people will write in Orks anyway regardless of results because they want to see new ork stuff. But who knows? Maybe the Space Marine side of the Armageddon box was so bad that it's reverse-psychologied people into wanting to see more marine sculpts so they can cope that they've got some new cool stuff.
>>98244164Vehicles used to have to spend a lot of extra wasted movement to turn corners in the old rules, the new free pivoting was basically made just to fix that one exact problem. Now if you move, pivot, move, you can turn corners with less movement spent. This is more noticeable the longer and skinnier your vehicle is.
>>98242266Bring both. Cult Mob is just unbeatable since they have sticky, especially in 11th since people will have line of sight on you on objectives all the time if they’re within range. But Traitor Guard, especially with an enforcer char, is a totally valid unit in its own right, especially in 1k games where you need more granularity. Keep in mind with the changes to wounds and saves, the enforcer basically grants the whole unit 5+ invuln (and 4+ FNP if you’re a gambling man,) unless you get shot with precision. Also the guard rule was changed to having +1 to saves when within range of objectives so it doesn’t overlap with benefit of cover. Also the enforcer still grants free overwatch, that also doesn’t count toward the stratagem, so you can use it again on another unit.
>>98244069so far I've tried out Heroes of the Uprising AND xenocult masses together. I love the neophite big shooting blocks, so being able to have them regen even further, along with rerolls to hit from the strat is good fun.I have the inclination though that heroes of the uprising and Purestrain would go together better though, as big angry genes in smaller games do even better.Have you tried out much?I want to use my brood brothers or Final day too, but haven't had a chance to yet. I'm a bit skeptical on being stuck with the brood bro take and hold missions.
>>98243743>Think its just a one off jokeWhich prettyv much killed off Eldar as a relevant faction.
