The legs are fused to the seat, the body slots into a peg that comes out of the back of the seat (meaning unless you snip that peg it'd be hard to put on after the rest of the bike is done) and the shoulders/arms/handlebars are one piece that sits on top of the body. Would be horrible to try and subassembly it so I didn't.
The gunner is all separate, though.

Most people at my LGS have a mix of painted and unpainted units in their army, I have a world eaters list that's battle ready but I think it could do with more finish. I think the 10 points only mattered in one game, I brought it up and the dude wasnt salty but I kind of got the feeling he was thinking "you won the game but you didnt beat me" because of it. The gameplay is like 20% tactics and 80% how good you roll dice so it doesnt weigh heavy on me if I win or lose.

If we enforced this rule at my LGS 90% of the players there would have a maximum score of 90 on all the games they play. It's been this way for years now, not one of them has actually fully painted their army, they just hop and swap to the next project they'll half-finish or don't ever bother to paint the models at all.
A month ago when I decided to host my own tournament at the store I decided to enforce the rule, and was shocked at how many of them actually got their shit together and painted the models they planned to use. It's crazy how effective of a rule it is.

I'm working on a starting White Scars list to use as many of my minis as possible. I need a bit of help with assigning heroes to units correctly.
Currently I plan to run a 6-man Bike Squad bubble with an Attack Bike, a Tactical Squad in a Rhino and a 5-man unit of Assault Terminators.
For HQs I want to field a Captain, a Chaplain and a Librarian. Which one of those three should get a bike, a Terminator armour or end up crammed in a Rhino with Tacs?

Look at that ogryn. Not only is his combat uniform neater and cleaner than what an ordinary guardsman would be caught in on another planet's parade ground, but he also buttoned it all the way up by himself. That's the kind of discipline and exactitude you only see nurtured in Mordian's Iron Guard.

the 1k game I played this weekend was fine. it plays like 1k games last edition did. I did shrink my board from my normal 72x48 to a “regulation” 60x44 because of the smaller armies and to really try the terrain footprints as intended, I also normally don’t play match play but we gave it a shot and had a lot of fun. I play casually with a small group of homies, we’ll probably house rule unlocked dispositions eventually if we’re getting bored.

I’m excited to play 2k games, but I see myself getting many more 1k games in overall.

use something fast to block the path of the vitrix (cheap stormboyz) or setup a powerful unit to heroic in to kill them. Basically when you are the slower melee army, you cannot pick when the fights happen but you get to pick where. Because your opponent is paying 220 pts to get the speed to hit first you have a lot more stuff to fight with. Situations like that are also the prime spot for a fight on death.
>>
Y'all need to help me out, I can't find the answer anywhere. If a model has more weapons on their sheet than they can even hold, do they get to shoot them all during the shooting phase or is it only what is physically on the model? Do shields not work unless they take up a hand on the model? What does WYSIWYG mean rule-wise for shooting or fighting?
>>
First Codex of 11th is obviously going to be Codex Supplement Xenos, a softcover book meant to be sold as an addition to all your 10th edition codexes containing over 80 new detachments for use with your existing ones. No data sheet changes. Models will be trickled out for these armies over the next eight months.

wysiwyg is a choice for players and tournament organizers but you don’t have to play wysiwyg.

you maybe confused because you see all the weapon options, but that is not what the model is equipped with. every model is going to have a unit composition section that tells you how many models equipped with what, and then a wargear section with option equipment that can be added or replace one of your current options.
>>
>>98249295
Newshitters must find this stuff so confusing without the context of wargear selection from older edishes
>>
>>98249303
it’s something I enjoy about new recruit only presenting the wargear you’ve selected for the model
>>
>>98249295
So the Intercessors get every single weapon listed, but the Sargent has a few more options?

Like Bolt Pistol, Plasma Pistol, and Hand Flamer can all be used on the same turn?
>>
>>98249280
Every ranged/melee weapon on a datasheet is present on a unit by default, unless the datasheet explains that a weapon is a replacement for another.
Example:
https://wahapedia.ru/wh40k10ed/factions/thousand-sons/Sekhetar-Robots
Sekhetar robots have 2 arms with a mix of ranged and melee weapons built in. They will always have the warpflamer, missle rack, and CCW on their right (IIRC) arm. Their left arm has the choice of either a pyreflux meltagun, or a combination warpflame projector+power claw. If you pick one arm option then you lose what the other arm grants.

Some weapons have alternate firing modes. In this case you can only pick one mode to fire per round.
Example:
https://wahapedia.ru/wh40k10ed/factions/thousand-sons/Mutalith-Vortex-Beast
The MVB has 3 ranged weapons listed on its datasheet, but are all firing modes for the Warp vortex. You can attack with either the blast, beam, or torrent modes, but once you pick an option that weapon is considered fired and another mode cant be used.

And this WYSIWYG rule doesn't remove weapons if they aren't present on the model, like pistols, blasters and shields that just aren't represented on the models?
>>
>>98249334
So on the datasheet there's a section on unit composition. That will tell you the price of the unit, how many models are in it, and what those models are equipped with. Those are the weapons those models are allowed to shoot by default. Now, if the datasheet has a section called "Wargear Options", it will describe how you are allowed to change the default weapons or add to them.
>>
>>98249327
https://wahapedia.ru/wh40k10ed/factions/space-marines/Intercessor-Squad
Check the wargear on this page for an explanation of who gets what.
>The Intercessor Sergeant’s bolt rifle can be replaced with one of the following:
>1 Astartes chainsword
>1 hand flamer
>1 plasma pistol
>1 power weapon
>The Intercessor Sergeant’s close combat weapon can be replaced with one of the following:
>1 Astartes chainsword
>1 power fist
>1 power weapon
>1 thunder hammer
>For every 5 models in this unit, 1 model equipped with a bolt rifle can be equipped with 1 Astartes grenade launcher.
And this:
>Every model is equipped with: bolt pistol; bolt rifle; close combat weapon.
The latter part is the "default" composition for the model, and you can replace weapons using the former part's list. When you replace a weapon you lose it.
>>

229 KB JPG
>>98249325
>>98249327
there is a second page to that datacard
every model has a bolt rifle, a bolt pistol, and a close combat weapon.

your sergeant can replace his rifle and or his close combat weapon with several options. one squad member can get the grenade launcher. here your sergeant is only going to be equipped with ONE option: a bolt pistol, a plasma pistol, or a hand flamer so he will only shoot the option you chose during list building. additionally, pistols/close quarters shooting guns cannot be shot by models in the same phase those models shot non pistol/close quarters guns. therefore, your intercessors dont get to shoot bolt rifles and bolt pistols in the same phase, but for example your grenadier can shoot his bolt rifles and grenade launcher
>>
I'm >>98249353
This guy >>98249363 is right about something I messed up
There's "equipped with" and "replaced" as wargear options to determine if you still get a weapon or not
For the sekhetar robots example you replace the melta and as a result lost access to it
With the intercessors example you replace the sergeant's weapon (and lose the original weapon in the process), but the grenadiers get the grenade launcher IN ADDITION TO their bolt rifle, as anon clarifies.

depends on what the controller player decides, at the start of the game you're supposed to tell your opponent "This dude with a grenade in hand counts as my dude with grenade launcher". Some players do some other stuff like placing rubber bands on bases or painting certain bits. Some players do go WYSIWYG and things are a tiny bit simpler but it rarely is a problem.

well, ideally, you use the model with the grenade launcher to represent the guy with the grenade launcher. otherwise you could paint him different, place a token next to him, or by some other method clearly identify him for yourself and your opponent
>>
>>98249434
So, in tournies, does the WYSIWYG rule not allow those with a bolt rifle to also have a pistol at the strictest interpretation? I see that rule mentioned, and I'm not sure how far most players take it.

>>
>>98249442
In tourneys you have to submit army lists that clearly define what units are equipped with what. If for whatever reason the model doesnt reflect what it's equipped with (happens for a few units that have upgrades but didn't get sprues IIRC) then you'd use a token or something to show it's different. WYSIWYG isn't that strictly followed in my personal experience, it exists more to stop people from doing proxying/counts-as shenanigans.

No, in the case of intercessors for example if you look at the datasheet, no matter what you will always have a bolt pistol with the standard intercessors, so you will always count as having it.
Tournaments nowadays straight up don't care about WYSIWYG, they only care that
a) you build and submit a valid list
b) have any way, be it WYSIWYG or any sort of token or maker to let your opponent tell what's what.

Starting to feel like this might be the "Final" edition with the way they're finally being forced to go digital.

As soon as they can charge a subscription fee and additional one time purchase for digital codexes/rules justifying a "premium" physical price point for codexes and books it's over. I would expect 11e to be the "stable"(one might even say Championship Edition) of 40k with a shift towards reviving/performing retro remakes of previous editions to bring them up to speed with modern QoL fixes.

Imagine the next twenty years of 40k being a "stable" Modern addition purely digital with quarterly updates and the new 3/5y year edition rotation shifting over to Retro Remastering of 2e, then 4e, then 6e, then 8e.

bike captain for assault on the bikes seem nice when they auto advance 6

the foot librarian give your tacs a 4+ invul save is good durability with the cover changes.

terminators getting a 4+ fnp against mortals from the termie chappie insulates them against a major weakness AND +1 to wound means your assault terminators are more consistent damage

bike captain, foot librarian, chaplain in terminator armor
>>
I went looking.

a tactical squad is 140, that’s 70 points per marine, with wargear costs. with the combat squads ability, you could split your heavy and special weapon off with the sergeant and have 5 man boltgun squad for screening or action monkey

scouts and intercessors are still better for 10 points more or 10 points less, but are tacticals viable again??

I meant 70 points per 5 to compare to intercessors. the better assault heavy ap 1 guns and the extra attacks from target elimination means the intercessor is still point for point a better unit.

but the tacticals are cheaper, they fit in a cheaper transport with almost double the carrying capacity, and primaris characters leading them are still allowed inside.

I think there’s some play there.

healing is considerably better this edition, but I don’t know if your bikes are worth it. 65 points for an apothecary is pretty close to 3 more bikes.

even at 40 points for a foot apothecary, tacticals are not worth healing.

big elite units and tough models are more impactful at 1k, and unit points efficiency is also important.

it is a little “unsportsmanlike” to run a GUO, but less so when they’re not terribly undercosted. especially if it is a one of, it’s not terribly offensive

I'll try to post an anchor every thread but if you can't spot me write"here is my may collage submission" and it'll be way easier to find you in the archive.

playing a knight list at 1,000 points is going to result in one of three types of games for you

>tabling an inexperienced player or a player who built an all comers list that could pass the stat check for damage

>you getting tabled by a player who can pass the stat check

>non interactive chorehammer where your opponent shoot at you at most twice all game and buries you in score.

Ive had fun games where someone splashes a knight as a center piece, I have never ever enjoyed playing against a full knight army, at any points level.

Plague legion and warptide

Nurglings x 2
Plaguebearers x 2

those 4 models are t9, 14 wound walking tanks between their defensive profiles and the cover stacking minus one to hit they’re handing out means that there’s a large number of lists that simply will not be able to kill them at 1000

Unlike squads of infantry which decline linearly, vehicles don't get much weaker as they take damage. So unless your opponent has built a 1000 point list specifically to one-round a crusader, you're getting 2-3 rounds of unimpaired shooting into his dudes. With towering they can't hide from it. There's no counterplay just stats.

General courtesy in 1000 point games where I am is no individual model over 200 points. I leave the repulsor executioner at home.

its getting to the point where im considering segregating my tables into marines and non marines tables. the marines tables where everyone can just powerarmorwank at each other all game and the other tables where xenos, guard, sisters and admech can all play actual warhammer.
>>
Sisters are so awkward. They're stuck in between guard and marines and have an identity crisis as a result. They have some good tanks, but guard do that better. They can muster some numbers, but guard can do that better. Marines outshine them in all options and army rules, and even having fewer total number of models doesn't actually end up meaning anything if marines have a bunch of T6 and 2+ wounds models. An intercessor squad actually has more effective wounds and is harder to wipe than a sister squad, despite having fewer actual models. And this becomes twice as true when you start looking at Heavy Intercessors.

Hell, even on the vehicles front, marines have them beat. Impulsors and Repulsors and Lancers and the like actually stack up favorably against rhinos, castigators, and the like. I would kill for a repulsor, it's only like 30 points more than an immolator for meaningfully more wounds, armor, guns, and the hop back in to hide special rule is sick.

Marine army rules are also better. More variety of detachments, many of which are the same thing but literally strictly better (fordefather and firestorm vs bringers of flame), oath of moment is taken for granted and is actually pretty strong, and there's so much more flexibility to hone in on a strategy with the sheer number of named characters and support/leader marines have.

Basically, whenever you say "wow marines are strong, and X unit is better than anything I have", people are quick to say "well their army rules might be worse elsewhere" but that's simply not true the more you examine. And people are also quick to say "well they have fewer models than you" but that's simply mathematically not true when you consider that T4 and T6 is meaningfully harder to kill so they actually have more effective staying power. And Intercessors are cheaper than Retributors/Dominions/Battlesisters too as the icing on the cake. They pay less for more effective wounds, better guns, and better army rules.

In my experience grognards still play to table their opponents like it was popular in 3rd-5th editions. At my local club half of the older guys just struggled to score secondary objectives in 10th. I play Orks and have 100 infantry on the table at 1500pts. I can only win against some armies by scoring objectives every turn.
>>
>>98250432
Knights were a mistake. Knights as an army instead of a 1-of heavy support was a bigger mistake.

>>
>>98250738
i basically think of sisters like imperial eldar. low wounds and toughness but better saves than most horde armies, semi-elite pts costs, lots of bespoke aspect style units that specialize in one specific job like repentia, flagellants, seraphim, sacresancts, retributors. highly dependent on transports, highly dependent on a few small special named characters. historically had miracle rules that were somewhat similar to eldars fate manipulation.

its an army of specialists and force multipliers that take mediocre profiles and create windows of opportunity for them rather than raw stat checks like marines
>>
>>98250744
They are objectively some of the best models GW has put out. I don't play at less than 1500pts anyway, usually 2000pts. Ive never had a problem facing Knights because if you can kill their objective scoring armigers you just need a out last their larger knights.

>>
>>98250892
>>
>>98250858
Yeah I think that people forget their guns are base 2 shots and all of them are base 2 wounds. So 5 Intercessors is 10 wounds and fire 10 shots, just like 10 tacticals, or 10 sisters.

And of course they have a special rule that makes them all shoot 4 shots, for 20 total shots, which is the same as a 10 model squad rapid firing....meaning they're 20 points less than a tactical squad, for the same number of wounds and the same number of shots in all conditions, or more shots in some conditions (outside rapid fire range). And let's not forget that the gun profile itself is better, they're bolters with Assault, Heavy, and rend 1. Literally just strictly better, for 20 points less. And it's not like they lose anything, they still have oath of moment and all their army rules and stuff.

And don't even get me started on Heavy Intercessors, which are all T6 and 3W and all weird heavy bolters. For the same price as a Sisters squad, and LESS points than a retributor squad/domonions/etc.

Games Workshop is crazy. It's really no wonder everyone plays marines.

Examples? At best I've seen infantry fighting with the tank getting on top and manning one of the pintle guns, but not as something in tank doctrine. Historically, mounting an pintle machine gun primarily for AA towards the back was not for the gunner to stand on the engine deck, but to have it out of the way. There's plenty of images of tanks and TDs with a pintle gun mounted towards the back of the turret, pointing rear. Doesn't matter if the machine gun is pointing forwards or backwards, as long as you can access it from the cupola, and when shooting at an incoming plane, doesn't matter if you rotate the front or the back of the turret towards it.

Most stuff can be run as regular marines, and even the unique stuff can sort of be run as regular marines. Xenophase blade can just be a power sword. If they squat the veterans with guns and shields you can just rebase them on call them bladeguard or lieutenants. I don't think there's much of a real threat of the models being totally unusable

That's actually a pretty good buy and the vets are great if you get cheap tacticus bodies to kitbash the leftover parts with. You actually get the gear/weapons for 24 vets in that box.

Corvus Blackstar is a cool model and that's it. If you play the DW detachment you literally won't have any use for it or any other transports because your kill teams will be teleporting.

You can play the models in that box as either DW veterans or Decimus/Aquila Kill Team (same thing, Aquila is just the name they have in Imperial Agents for some reason). There's really no reason to run Decimus as vets are just straight up better.

The DW-only Black Spear detachment is really good but Bastion is actually also good for DW because vets are battle line which means you can advance, shoot frag cannons, and charge with thunder hammers.

Sorry I can't count, 22. You get two 5 man kits, each kit is 3 tacticus 1 phobos 1 gravis but you get the weapons/gear for 6 tacticus 2 phobos 3 gravis.

Tacticus: Bolter, pistol and xenophase blade, plasma pistol and power sword, plasma, thunder hammer, mace and shield
Phobos: Oculus bolt rifle, knives
Gravis: Frag cannon, infernus heavy bolter, shotgun

You also get a ridiculous number of heads and shoulders for various chapters
>>
>>98251956
Its the new DW though, the old kit is better.
>>
>>98252070
Not bad. It'll definitely make kitting out an army easier. How many DW pauldrons does it come with? I'm assuming the bare minimum.
>>
>>98252109
Yeah just the 5 (so 10 in the armageddon box) for DW pauldrons

And if you want to kit out your gravis with pauldrons, each DW upgrade kit only comes with one gravis/terminator one so for all 6 in the armageddon box you'd need 4 more adding up to $69. Just get someone to print them for you.

>>
>>98252189

>>
>>98251651
The .50 on the sherman was specifically for anti aircraft use so it was intended to be fired by someone standing on the engine deck rather than someone in a cupola, which is why it's mounted further back like this. The M5 stuard had a similar mount but for a .30, I believe. Most of the .50s on American vehicles were intended for anti-aircraft use.

i've bought from both and never been scammed by either. just follow best practices. if its ebay do a little research on the profiles history. ebay also has better seller protections so if there is a scam you can get your money back

miniswap always make sure the listing has recent pictures with the product, the users name, a very recent date, and only accept using paypal goods and services. anything else besides that is likely a scam unless its a trade army for army, and personally i would never trade via mail, thats a recipe to get scammed, only in person local trades at a safe mediated environment like a FLGS with security cameras or some states/countries have safe trade spots established. something like a coffee shop with security cameras might also be acceptable but a non miniature store place might get a bit iffy with you guys doing a trade there.

just go with your gut, trust the community guidelines and advice, and if an offer seems too good to be true or a potential seller or trader seems squirelly about the means they want to use for the transaction, pull out.

as far as i've seen the worst for scammers where people actually get scammed has been the facebook swap groups.

I know whenever I'm under air attack, I want to be outside of the tank, exposed to machine gun fire and bomb shrapnel, rather then inside of the tank and operating the machine gun from the commander's cupola. Especially when all of the controls are conveniently placed so that they're operable from the cupola, while anyone standing on the deck would have to climb on top to reach some of the controls. Also, if the turret is turned towards any other direction than forward, you don't have much room to stand on.
>The M5 stuard had a similar mount but for a .30, I believe.
The Stuart mount was on the side of the turret.

I've yet to come across any documentation that the crew is suppose to be outside of the tank to operate the AA gun. Only times I've seen photos of it being done is in movies/shows, reenactment, or on tanks that are not in direct combat.

Sure, but it doesn't make it normal nor was he part of the vehicle's crew. Infantry operating with tanks have climbed on top to operate pintle weapons, like pic related. But the guy on the Dorn is not some Cadian guardsman who hitched a ride, he's suppose to be part of the crew.
