>"You all meet in a tavern."
>"My character says 'System'."
>"A copy of your character sheet appears before you."
Would adding LitRPG tropes to your table be a good idea?
>>

if all your players were told thats what the game was going to be like, sure why not?
>>
>>98277538
It's fine if that's the world you're in.
Just keep in mind that makes the GM basically God on an in-game level at that point and he can directly fuck with the PCs because he is the "system" they are interacting with and this can lead to very meta shit.
>Frondo Grundelsniff is being violated by Gnoll Gnots and is taking extreme damage. When he screams "Why?" a voice in his head booms "Steve left early because his GF called. Pussy whipped Steve equals Gnoll Stuffed Frondo."

it's better to add xianxia tropes
>party finds treasure
>old monsters appear out of nowhere to steal it
>>
>>98277855
>party finds treasure
>a competing party arrives after them to try and steal it.
>it's played by another group

If you build the setting around it, then I don't see why not.
I also don't see how it'll enhance the experience.

LitRPG might be the lamest """genre""" I have ever heard of. Actual homosexual smut would be less gay than LitRPG

Traditional games?
>>
>>98277538
LitRPG shit is written almost exclusively by braindead faggots who have never played an RPG and have little, if any, understanding of basic game mechanics outside of "make number bigger"

I'd like to see the results if you try.

You already have your fucking character sheet in front of you, you absolute retard. It doesn't exist in the fucking game world, the rules of the game are a fucking abstraction, you smooth brained, imaginationless, tasteless faggot.
If I see crap like that on my table, my first question is "what the fuck are you doing?", the second "could you please stop that retard shit?" and the last "are you leaving voluntarily, or do I physically kick you out?",

LitRPGs and cultivation are the worst stuff ever happened to literature, worse than isekai slop, because this crap is the stuff that makes everything, most often the isekai it's dumped on, unbearable power wankery.
I'd suggest the supposed fans of those genres to play a fucking videogame, but I don't think they have the brain capacity or hand-eye coordination to do it or anything that needs any kind of higher motor skills, such as breathing through their nose.

>LitRPGs and cultivation are the worst stuff ever happened to literature, worse than isekai slop
How are they even different?
>>
>>98283731
Nta, but that’s comparing apples to oranges because life’s given you nothing but lemons. LitRPG is just “Fiction but aping video game mechanics”. Isekai is just “Hero’s journey but explicitly in another world”. Cultivation is a subsection of Xianxia that’s super autistic about the training involved in your kung fu warrior’s rise to the top/spiritual enlightenment. A lot of hack writers will borrow or reuse ideas from each of these and turn them into a sewer colored slurry, but they’re still technically independent. You could do isekai shit without the protagonist ever once treating it like a video game, just as you can do a LitRPG story with everyone being native to the setting while still referring to all their magic and supernatural shit with video game terms for whatever reason. And considering kung fu shit is pretty much essential to Cultivation, that bars a good chunk of isekai and LitRPG slop.

Ok, but what if they arent? Who's the imaginationlet now fag?
>>
>>98283877
My point is that something Sword Art Online or Slime Isekai or Solo Leveling are some of the most succesful iseakai and are basically just LitRPGs.
>>
>>98277538
What?
>>
>>98283893
Your point is that two genres are the same because those three particular stories chose to lazily shove video game rpg elements into their isekai slop?
>>
>>98277538
I can't wrap my head around the concept of LitRPGs
Like is it for autists who get crippling anxiety if they don't see concrete numbers at all times and simultaneously are unable to imagine an apple?
>>
>>98283907
It was originally just for people who wanted to reference video game shit for fun, like having someone joke about running out of mp in place of saying they’ve exhausted their magic spells. Then autists took it seriously, and now litrpgs include video game shit like menus and stats without even bothering to provide context fir why they exist in the world beyond reader familiarity.

Dungeon Crawler Carl goes great lengths and the context is integral to the story.

LitRPG let's the self insert main character become overpowered douche by farming literal xp and putting it to stats that have no correlation to how the xp was farmed. He also breaks the immersion by dropping down literal vidya mechanics and UI.
Written by sexually frustrated Japanese autist with no sense of wonder or understanding the difference between game mechanics and the game world and he likely has revenge fantasies.

Cultivation let's the self insert main character become overpowered douche by harvesting esoteric knowledge, the chi and stealing techniques from divine beings.
Written by Chinese autist obsessed with status and with no sense of morals, understanding how anything works, absolutely has revenge fantasies.

Isekai is a story set in another world and/or time with the main character(s) transported there from "real world". That's it..
Unfortunately it's almost always written by aforementioned autists, instead of autist with a sense of wonder and imagination that isn't completely fried by LitRPG and/or cultivation slop they think is the peak of literature.
>>
>>98283922
No, as in why people can summon menus at will or what metric they’re using to judge all the stats everyone has. A lot of stories nowadays stories never bother to contextualize the video game elements, they just exist.
>>
>>98283945
Ha well unfortunately for you, i have the Ring of Goatse equipped, which increases my anal circumference by 50%, but due to an oversight by the devs, it goes by the stat anal circumference derives from rather than the circumference itself, so my anus is perfectly open and now that im an uberfaggot, i'll have no issue anal voring you from full HP.

Well basically, they all are serialized literature, and the extreme ends are Japanese Fantasy LN's, which largely refer to videya and strongly insists that any and all effort will lead to success and happiness, and that the information market is largely open and transparent.
Chinese Cultivation novels occupy the other extreme, they insist that the game has always been rigged and you're lacking even the basic information necessary to protect yourself, making brutality and cruelty the only way to remain on top of the pot somebody set up to boil you all crabs for consumption.

The Korean System-type fiction stands somewhere in the middle, combining video game mechanics with the idea of an ongoing, total class warfare.

>>98283877
>Isekai is just “Hero’s journey but explicitly in another world”.
If it's serialized literature, it'll struggle to include the hero's journey at a structural level, actually.

>>98277882
And sexier.

>John Carter of Mars is an Isekai series
>all characters in it are naked all the time, including the Princess he meets in the first novel already
Once again, the ancient's scrolls light can only be dimmed by consecutive generations.

What is wrong with porn with a plot that ends with two people finding that they are happier together than they were alone.
>>
>>98284566
Because there's always fucked up stuff there unlike romance stuff aimed at a male audience
Just listened to a radio show about some dark romantasy book I'd never heard of and of course the panel was all female
Would it kill them to get a male opinion
>>
>>98284541
We're talking about literature here, not torture porn.
>>
>>98284645
>Because there's always fucked up stuff there unlike romance stuff aimed at a male audience
Male-centric porn features plenty of real fucked up shit too. That's natural because it's porn and you can fantasize about just about anything.

What's almost impossible to find is male-centric porn of two people having good to great consensual sex and growing to appreciate each other on a personal level while having more sex though, while it's probably one of the most common plots in woman's romance.
>>
>>98284848
>Male-centric porn features plenty of real fucked up shit too.
That's hardly mainstream though, when you can find romantasy books in every bookstore
>>
>>98277538

My character is a kitchen maid rogue so it makes sense they would meet her at a tavern.

>That's hardly mainstream though
You wanna have another think about whether Porn is mainstream or not?

Haven't even started mentioning all the weird sex stuff that keeps popping up in non-porn Scifi and Fantasy literature.
