Was does your local Warhammer scene look like?
Nonexistent
Fat and greasy.

>>98279000They've been doing this for 17+ yearsI remember the place long time ago being open as a general /tg/ please where people could hang out and then it closed and I only found out recently that it's been running this whole time but it's an extremely closed group
My town has a Facebook group for 40k with about 150ish members. There is not however anywhere good to meet people for games in public. This means actually finding a game means either going to their house or inviting them to your house which means new players have a hard time convincing people to actually have a game. Before I moved from Toronto to here I could get a game in every week. Now I play about once a month.
>>98278646it slowly bled out from a combination of price hikes and general cost of living pushing us all out of the area. the GW store finally closed down a few years ago, which is shocking since it was in one of the richest parts of a relatively wealthy country, but i guess everything has a breaking point.
>>98279236The GW near me closed not because they were priced out of the mall but because there kept being too many "incidents" at it of mainly 2 types: Parents bringing their kids to the mall would just leave them there like it was some sort of baby sitter and they would cause problems for the adult gamers who were coming in for pickup games and the 2nd issues was that they were right next to the exit to the bus terminal and at least once a week someone would pull a grab and dash of a bunch of boxes and escape to the bus terminal to go home and sell the boxes on Ebay. Once a restore employee grabbed one of them to stop them and it turned into a cluster fuck where he lost his job over it and the police got involved. That's the dirty 'shawa for you, at some point the shoplifting ring that operated at the mall found out how much 40k kits went for online.
>>98279255>at least once a week someone would pull a grab and dashThis is why they closed all of the downtown pharmacies in my city.
>>98279255>Parents bringing their kids to the mall would just leave them there like it was some sort of baby sitterThat sucks. I probably wouldn't hang out at the GW if it was constantly full of kids.
>>98278646a GW store opened here a couple of years ago, the first ever. I've been there a few times to buy paints and check on kill team, but there's a single table and it's always taken by some 40k gamethere's another game store at the outskirts and this one actually has a big ass hall dedicated to gaming, with some 10 full size tables and I think some more in reserve for tournaments, that's where everything happens nowadays, but it's still mostly 40k although there are a few whf playersapart from that, the local scene looks like 45-50 year olds playing in their garage. There used to be a bunch of clubs sprinkled around the towns nearby but afaik there's only one left, and they're more into board games
>>98279381I used to be part of a private club with about 10 members but as the editions marched on starting in 8th the club started to dwindle as guys got married and their wives gradually got them to quit their hobbies and we switched from playing 40k every sunday to playing RPGs and board games. Still have the occasional game but we still play 7th when we do. Nobody wanted to give GW anymore money after the primaris release.
>>98278646Why is the guy bare foot bottom left?
>>98279468>footfaggot immediately outs itself
>>98279421>guys got married and their wives gradually got them to quit their hobbiesWhy does this always happen? My gaming group broke up slowly over this foid bullshit. I'd rather have my hobbies over marrying a woman who has a 50% chance to divorce me and take the kids. Maybe I just don't have a strong sex drive (I haven't had sex since 2020) but I just cannot believe that some of my former friends prefer being in a relationship with a modern foid at the expense of every other aspect of their life.
>>98278646Like nothing because we don't have one where I live.
>>98279521Men who give up hobbies for their wives married the wrong women. There is nothing stopping a couple from find a few hours every week for each of them to do their own thing, and be able to keep up on responsibilitiest. Married with second kid on the way, both me and her still able to partake in multiple hobbies/interests
>>98279619Many men trap themselves in a relationship where they had to perform at maximum levels of simping to keep a woman's attention and then only realize it years later that it was a mistake. Chad was right, just being yourself even if you're single is always the best option.
>>98279619I hope thing go well for you. I'm never getting married because I am too autistic. I still dated through my 20s to mid 30s but only 2 relationships last longer than 1 year. My last long term gf was a druggie and we would get into fights over it. I had no problem with her smoking weed but when she started doing molly and special k more regularly than a few times a year at raves (which was a big part of my 20s) she just became way to much to handle.
>>98279646Anyone who does more than a bit of weed or alcohol let alone still gets blasted should be avoided in your 30s anyways. Not like its easy to find a woman these days who isn't on prescription meds or some kind of narcotics.
>>98278646Kinda weird. The stuff always gets scooped up but you have to show up at very specific times to see anyone actually playing. I suspect there are a lot of private groups. >>98279521A lot of dudes involved in tabletop games have bad self-esteem and let their girlfriends/wives walk all over them. I mean, imagine what you'd think if your sister or daughter were seeing a dude who forbid her from doing her hobbies and seeing her friends. We'd clock that as abusive behavior, right? But it's just considered normal, even humorous, if a guy we know is being dominated by some harpy. >>98279619>There is nothing stopping a couple from find a few hours every week for each of them to do their own thingQFT. She doesn't even have to be into nerdy/geeky stuff, but stay away from NPC women who do nothing but scroll Instagram and watch slop like Love Island. Not having any ability to make friends or entertain herself is a red flag.
>>98278646Passed in front the local store once and one morbidly obese stereotypical guy came out in short in the middle of novemberRealized that I have no real reason to engage with the fandom outside of here and my friends and never went back
Literally pic related
>>98279255>shoplifting gw kitsBased, but its not a reason to close down. The boxes only cost gw like $4 to make and ship. What store cant sink $16 a week in inventory loss? Its like, four sticks of gum
>>98279468A better question is why he appears to be wearing some sort of blanket like a toga.
>>98280035Thats what I thought too. Then I realized its a dress and the person in question is a woman based on the design of the ring they are wearing.
Anemic and boomerish. Not a lot of people. But - Great selection at the FLGS for products, the store owner does a great job. All 40k, maybe some kill team. Generally older, leaning just a tad blue collar, most have families and kids. Couple younger people are the more stereotypical nerd types who probably post here. MTG seems to be the moneymaker around here and Warhammer is kind of an endangered species. For me, I only want to play ToW and Mordheim and alternate rulesets so I pretty much never get games locally. Once or twice a year I'll go to those conventions the "Instagram 28" people host and they're fun as fuck. People on 4chan knock the 28 scene for being a gaggle of extreme leftists, but you have to admit that they're the right kind of gamer. They run alternate rulesets, convert and paint every model, and totally skip the worst parts of tourneyfaggery. In fact, they're the only people I want to play with these days. >>98279619It's unfathomable to me. It happens to a lot of the guys I know, not just tabletop gamers. (Though they get it the worst) Car people, sports people, it's extremely common as I age to see my normie friends end up in these situations. Relegated to a "man cave" while they've ceded the rest of their home and lifestyle to a woman who's downright embarrassed by her own partner. A relationship can't be worth that, can it? To be made to shrink, treated with contempt? I can't imagine falling in love with someone who thinks my interests are gay and lame. "Yeah let's get married, mean lady". Great deal. Especially knowing that there's a (small) group of women who really do think that dragons or cars or sports are cool and WOULD be happy to share that hobby with you. Why not hold out for one of them? But what the hell do I know, I never dated. It seems like other people have such a visceral need for companionship that they'll compromise hard before they stay single. Eh.
>>98280153>It seems like other people have such a visceral need for companionship that they'll compromise hard before they stay single.I stopped dating during the lockdowns and just never started again when it was over. I would rather stay single and keep my hobbies than to compromise on a woman who would try to control me that much. The friends I lost to foids made up 2/3 of my gaming club.
>>98280278I think it’s a case of ‘no x is better than bad x’. Unfortunately people crave intimacy so they will take bad over none
Dudes who don't paint their minis and use the LGS's terrain instead of making their own.
>>98282478The lgs i used to go to required painted minis as a policy so there is no question as to who's property they were after there was an incident involving theft.
This game is going on right now. Can't say I'm a fan.

>>98279255> it was in one of the richest parts of a relatively wealthy countryFactoria location next to T-Mobile U.S. HQ?
>>98282920Nope. The Oshawa Centre in Durham region Canada. It is a very wealthy suburb of Toronto with auto, pharmaceutical and electronics manufacturing jobs and more recently a booming Cannabis industry. The Oshawa Centre is actually one of the biggest malls in the world and has tons of interesting shops and many great fast and sit-down restaurants. Games Workshop had a location there for about 10 years but there were constant problems at the location creating needless drama. Like I said the local shoplifting ring found out how much they could make selling stolen kits online and there was constant theft. The GW was on the second level right next to the escalator that went down to the bus terminal.
>>98282619Opponent was in the bathroom at the time.>>98282781I did! Played two games tonight, a win against Orcs and then a loss against Elves. The orc game was kind of a blowout in my favor, the Elf one could've gone either way.
>>98282525I hate this shit like you would not believe. Get your fucking clutter off the battlefield .. it's like these faggots don't care about immersion at all
>>98278748You living in the Balkans, anon?
>>98283105whats up with dice trays? does everyone use em now? I feel like i never have but all the time im at games, its dice trays now
>>98283107Funny you mention the Balkans because I used to know a Serbian guy who was making and selling bootleg Leman Russ kits.
>>98283133I don't understand it either desu
>>98283133>>98283211As opposed to what, scattering dice all across the table? I used to roll straight on the table when I was a teen but my mom bought me a dice tray and Ive used it ever since. It's much nicer to have all your dice neatly land in one place, never rolling off the table edge onto the floor, etc.
Not my local LGS but these guys were playing 11th today
>>98283683GW did everything they could to fucking ruin this hobby. Omg
>>98283683color schemes of both armies oddly match the terrain
>>98283683How does an aircraft even have the ability to turn on that small of a battlefield? This battlefield has two "armies" crammed in a space equivalent to a soccer field
>>98279619There is a bit more to that I think. Women often do not have hobbies, and whenever a man is deeply in "love" with something, they get jealous. That is not limited to Warhammer, it can be a pizza ofen, a coffee machine, a bike, or whatever it is that sparks joy and emotions in the man.Combine that with the typical nerd having a weak will, they will quit their hobby to please their wife. This is less of an issue if she has established hobbies on her own, and not something she picked up because her ex bf was doing it or something.
>>98283781In 11th, proper airborne units with the keyword "Aircraft" appear on the table, shoot and then leave the board at the end of the opponent's turn after the opponent has had a chance to shoot back or melee it with flying units like jumppack marines. Usually this is appearing on a board edge like in >>98283683's pic although if they have deepstrike they could drop in a lot of other places for better shooting angles. They're air support, it's an abstraction of a strafting/bombing run. They don't actually move across the table. I kind of prefer it this way, but I wish there was some kind of dogfighting/interception step for other aircraft.
>>98283716It was two friends trying to figure out the new rules and it seemed liked they had a good time. I think you’ve done more to ruin the hobby for yourself by pearl clutching
>>98279619>>98283792>>98280278A typical woman will gain interest in your hobby as a means to hang out with you. Sure bpd bitches will get jealous of any hobby or friend group so just don’t date crazy. My wife bought me the ork half of Armageddon and a bolt action starter set for Father’s Day. Plus if you have kids that’s pretty much gonna be your main hobby anyway
>>98284604It was actually my 1st high school girlfriend that got me into 40k and my 2nd girlfriend would go with me to the local GW and intentionally shower me with public displays of affection to make the other guys jealous (she had E cup breasts). She literally got off doing that. It doesn't hurt that I have a trust fund and like 100k in investments. When the price of silver skyrocketed due to the building of so many data centers I made absolute bank on the silver I had bought at $8/oz jumped up to $86/oz.
>>98279047That's based. Where is it?
>>98279521Don’t know why fren. But for our group it happened as people got jobs after UNI. I was first to marry and get kids. And I never got it, I mean yeah. If you’re a good parent it slows down for periods, like an infant takes more attention. And you value your sleep, and money can get tight at times. But I just made a new hobbygroup and new friends. If my GF had told me my hobbies are embarrassing, I would probably have just got a new GF. What kind of idiot stops doing what they like just for someone who won’t accept them anyway?
>>98284626A fellow silverfag! I was able to retire a few years early after silver went to the moon.
>>98284657Congratulations on your family. I have no hopes to have in kids because I'm too autistic for the majority of women. My sister however has 8 kids so I get to be the cool uncle who plays video games with them.
My lgs is hosting an annual international 40k Tournament and the scene is very competitive due to that. But their existence also sparked some groups for other games as well, and /tg/ stuff is fairly known in our town. The store is quite successful, expanded recently and they are running a big Onlineshop as well. The hobby could be worse in a sub100k town.
>>98284604>A typical woman will gain interest in your hobby as a means to hang out with you.And exactly those typical women are the ones you should avoid. They will get into soccer if their bf does, start to look into D&D if their bf does, start to play video games if their bf does.. and at some point they will start to resent it.The good (and far more rare) type of women are those that already have their own interest, and keep them even if their bf has different hobbies.
>>98285304> And exactly those typical women are the ones you should avoid.lol no, my wife has her own hobbies and interests as well and I take part in them like she takes part in mine. We coach our daughter’s softball team together, when the kids are in bed we’ll watch baseball or softball while I paint and she goes over the lineups. Everyone should have their own interests, in a good relationship you’ll sacrifice time to do what the other is into because you like being with your mate
>>98283835The 'new' rules are basically just an incomplete copy of the old Imperial Armour flyer rules, which funnily enough did actually have mechanics for intercepting enemy flyers with your own aircraft and also didn't completely break flying transports and render aircraft reliant on short range weapons completely useless.
>>98284708I hate my third world country.
>>98285378>in a good relationship you’ll sacrifice time to do what the other is into because you like being with your mateI think in a good relationship each should have their own hobbies, and then there should be some "together" hobbies or activities too. (for example softball training in your case). Having something for yourself is important. My wife is heavily into cardlaying and astrology. I dont care about that stuff, and that is fine. I will not randomly buy a deck of tarotcards and start to get "into" that, because she would know its just for her.. and at the same time it would be weird if she would buy a box of miniatures for herself to assemble and paint. Our common hobbies are boardgames and gardening (and coop videogames if you want to count that). But once in a while, we need some space and time for ourselves too.

>>98279619Its a familiar dynamic in relationships: men often display open, almost glowing enthusiasm for newly purchased gadgets — from folding bikes to cordless vacuum cleaners — while their female partners react with visible frustration. This tension isn’t simply about classic mansplaining or disinterest in technical details. Instead, it stems from the emotional imbalance created when men invest intense joy, pride, and even a kind of self‑focused passion into objects, while expecting their partners to share that excitement.Women often feel pressured to express gratitude or enthusiasm for things they don’t actually care much about — even if the pizza tastes good or the cordless vacuum is convenient. What irritates them is the sheer abundance of passion their partners suddenly show for devices, especially in a phase of life where time and emotional energy are scarce. They remember a time when that spark in their partner’s eyes was reserved for the relationship, not for aluminum frames, trapezoid rims, or a perfectly mounted charging station. The article argues that this isn’t real jealousy. It’s discomfort with witnessing a partner’s self‑focused, almost autoerotic delight in mastering a gadget — a kind of self‑love that feels awkward when performed publicly. Men’s devotion to devices operates on a completely different emotional frequency than love for a partner, but when it’s displayed so exuberantly, it can overshadow the relationship.tl;dr Women hate it if men have hobbies
>>98286441Women who don't love their men hate it when their men have hobbies. The key is to find a woman who actually likes you, which is a gamble.
>>98286441>They remember a time when that spark in their partner’s eyes was reserved for the relationship, not for aluminum frames, trapezoid rims, or a perfectly mounted charging station.Doesn't hang together as it happens in new relationships as well.
>>98286447>The key is to find a woman who actually likes you, which is a gamble.Exactly. That is the tricky part. >>98286449It can always happen, but it happens more quickly if one of the two has a shallow character while the other rather paints space marines than to watch something on netflix.
