What virtual tabletop do you use to play/run games? Roll20 and Foundry are the two big ones but there are plenty of other lesser talked about ones like Role for example. You could even use Discord if you don't mind not having a map with moveable tokens. I stick with Roll20 because it's free, but it's kind of a pain at times and if Discord had a map solution I'd probably just run games there instead.
>>
Foundry makes automation easy for when I want to run complex systems
I use Talespire for 3D stuff that's easier to run since it makes things look pretty
>>
Just Tabletop Simulator with some workshop items for mini and terrain.
Luckily all my gaming is weekly and in person nowadays so I haven't used it in a while.
>>
Foundry
Dealing with javascript shit has gotten less painful nowadays since I can just tell an AI to code stuff for me instead of having to deal with meatbag c*ders.
>>
>>98283071
Roll20, with discord for voice chat and sometimes google sheets for tracking stuff.
My players didn't like Foundry at all.
>>
>>98283071
Foundry is too atuomated imo. I like roll20, but i have to use tabletop simulator or they'll take away my enormous penis lisence
>>
>>98283071
Video games have their own board.
>>
Foundry but it is very much the best of a bad bunch.

One time purchase
Hosts on a local PC
Support for whatever game you like

If you can get past its overreliance on fan-made modules to fix basic quality of life issues, and that it's designed by and for enthusiasts (With the associated clunky interface and lack of feedback when it goes wrong) it's all good.

>>98283071
Exactly the same as >>98283900.
Roll 20 for a virtual table to stretch a map over and put minis, discord for voice and video, rolls, and to keep records. Gsheet for the character sheets and for keeping some other records.
Discord's search is pretty good.
>>
If the system I'm playing actually has support, Foundry. If the system I'm playing doesn't have support, Roll20.
>>
>>98283071
I use Roll20 with some scripts to get extra features free, including using a third party image hosting site for tokens and maps and what have you for infinite storage space.

Discord for voice since I play with my friends and we all share a private server, and for playing music.

Google Sheets for character sheets, helps keep track of numbers and stuff without someone having to launch the roll20 game to check between sessions.

Mind, I run and play basically all my own systems I've made or other fan-made, unofficial TTRPGs that don't have sheets on Roll20, so being able to (somewhat) easily code my own macros is important to me. Plus, Foundry requires someone to host AND isn't free AND it's a pain to code sheets for. I'm sure if all I played was D&D5e or PF2e or whatever other mainstream games Foundry supports and my PC wasn't a dinosaur I'd probably bite the bullet on foundry.

I've tried owlbear but I'm not a fan of how much work it takes to make it actually functional beyond a map with a grid and how hard it is to actually automate things. There's Shard but it's basically only for D&D 5e/2024. TTS is too graphics-intensive for my old PC to handle and there's too much fiddly stuff people can fuck with to distract from the session.

You should go back since you seem to like it so much.
>>
>>98283071
I play mostly custom ttrpgs of my own making, any tabletop that requires anything other than a map tokens is a no go for me.

I use roll20 because it is simple and responsive, I use discord for voice chat, and google sheets for characters and other stuff like it.

I just read >>98285202, basically the exact same situation. It works really well.
>>
>>98283071
>Discord had a map solution
Just stream a paint program with cutouts of minis and move them as the players say they want to move.
>>
>>98283071
I play video games instead you fucking morons make me laugh lol
>>
Look at this thread.
All that horseshit just to emulate a tiny fraction of how simple and straightforward it is to play irl at a table with real friends

>inb4 “muh friends moved away this is how we connect”
Oh shut the fuck up you gay redditors, just play xbox with them online and save ttrpgs for in person with new friends. Blind technophiles and trend slaves all of you. People like you deserve to be raped by subscriptions services, fees, and have media you downloaded rugpulled back by the companies with no refunds. The whole “stop killing games” legislation push just got gaped

You say as you post on a screen.
>>
>>98287825
I post on a screen and then I play ttrpgs in real life at a table with friends.
You post on a screen and then you click on a screen trying and ineffectually to mimic ttrpgs.
We are not the same, you retard

two of my players live in different states and the other three are in a different continent and/or hemisphere.

I used to be a big fan of Foundry but when WOTC did 5.5e and part of their digital integration efforts included the WOTC approved Foundry module, which you HAD to use, Foundry just was not a viable option anymore.
In Foundry you are:
>forced to choose between 2014 or 2024 rules instead of what everyone is doing - picking and choosing what rules they want to use in the campaign
>forced to engage with the godawful changes to how items and feature modifications work, the whole thing is a UI nightmare. Wanna make a homebrew item that deals an additional 1d6 fire damage? In Roll20 you just go into the character sheet, go to the associated attack of that item, and add a line that says +1d6. In Foundry, you have to open 3 different windows (not joking) just to add a simple +damage bonus.
>going to have to spend hours looking through the mod pages because using the offical 5e module broke a lot of community-made apps with most just stopping development outright
For my game I actually had to switch to Roll20 and resub again. There are a lot of bells and whistles missing from Foundry, but with the Pro options you basically get to do everything you need and it's way simpler to do stuff like NPC features, macros, tokens, etc. plus with Jumpgate adding a lot of improvements and quality of life features you really get your money's worth with an annual subscription for a premium virtual tabletop experience.

Damn man, it's gotta be tough to be both delusional and illiterate.

Anon... I didn't ask for advice on anything, I was just curious as to what others used. Take your pills, I promise they will make the voices go away.
