Loved hearing him bring up the "Escher's Stairwell" balance philosophy that kept Standard so healthy for decades. It really was a great design principle, psychotic that they abandoned it.

Anon reporting back after playing modern on monday. Ended the night 3-1-1.
R1 - esper goryo
2-0
G1 He couldn’t get the atraxa goryo combo set up and tried to beat me down with frog till I irencrag feated into belcher on turn 4 after baiting him to discard what’s left of his hand to save his frog.
G2, sided in squelchers. He thoughtsiezed my belcher and still durdled with trying to get frog going and ended up discarding 3 goryo’s in the game. Was able to topdecked a belcher into a timely irencrag while squelcher was in play to kill before riddler and frog killed me.
R2-amulet titan

G1 got stuck on 2 lands and couldn’t get a ritual going while he had a slow hand and killed me after I abraded an amulet and tried to hide behind a bridge.
G2 sided in brotherhood’s end, bauble, and crypt. Able to just kill on turn 3 witg ritual irencrag and belcher. He also kept a somewhat slow hand.
G3 kept a hand with 2 moons. He answered the first with a force and didnt have anything for the second. Took my sweet time just playing belcher and untapping with it.

G1 he played a couple discard spells taking my rituals instead of lands which always seems like a mistake for me. Evidentally didnt have much of a follow-up cause he played a turn 2 urza saga with no 3 mana or a green source so I just cast karn, fetched belcher and killed him that way.
G2 he was able to get a 7/8 goyf into play. Bought myself enough time to moon him into karn into bridge. He had no outs to that since he didnt play a basic forest and I took my sweet time belching.

G1 slammed a moon turn 2 and belched him on 4
G2 he was able to turn 2 a thoughtknot on me, took a land. Missed my 2nd land drop for 1 turn and he was able to keep his advantage going by playing a kozi’s command for 3 turns in a row while beating me for 4 a turn.
G3 i kept a hand with no acceleration
He had answers for my bridges, moons and karns. Before i could play em.
