Do you guys think a stripped-down version of Cepheus system (Traveler) would be a good way to do a Zombie Apocalypse campaign? Fairly gritty and realistic, backstory-based skill building for a character, so you don't end up with exactly what you want, but can still steer your chargen a bit and have a cool built-in backstory. Could probably change how the damage system worked a bit to make it more location-based / wound-based. But the basic system seems like a good concept. What do you guys think?
>>98301984I guess but All Flesh Must be Eaten does a pretty similar job with the intention of being a zombie game. You could just try to bolt on the lifepath stuff from Traveller since you would have to rewrite it anyway.
>>98302067I hated the AFMBE skill list and damage multiplier thing. It just never appealed to me. But maybe it's better if you actually run it.
>>98301984It could work. Also there is striped down version of Cepheus System already. It is used by game called "Camp Cretaceous" You can check it out.
>>98301984Check out Ashes Without Number, it's basically Traveller skills with slightly crunchier B/X combat; it has a very light lifepath system. If you don't like its zombie apocalypse specific rules, the GM section for crisis campaigns are really tailor made for disaster scenarios. It has random charts where you can just roll d4-d20 and have workable post-apocalyptic survival scenarios with a playable conflict and situation.
>>98303620Yeah I'm running Ashes Without Number right now. Not for zombies. It's okay but it just doesn't feel as elegant as traveller did. I thought about a modern-day B/X zombie game but with all the skills it required it just didn't feel like a good fit.
>>98303200You hated the AFMBE skill list but not the Traveller one? Insane. The multiplying damage thing does work at the table though. Pretty fast, and allows for good "oh god don't let me get shot" tension.
>>98304971>You hated the AFMBE skill list but not the Traveller one? Insane.I would change the list to something more "modern" if that makes sense. Like the SWN list actually.
>>98306335What does that mean specifically? Shorter? Longer? Different names?
>>98301984>Muh le gritty realismus zombie apocalypseWas shit 50 years ago, continues to be shit todayIf you must wallow in powerlessness, then just pick All Flesh Must Be Eaten. If you are just shitposting theorycraft about hypothetical game, drink bleach and die.And threadly reminder that there is no such premise that a simple d6+6 roll on 3 main stats for chargen and then 2d6 rolls on checks can't handle. ESPECIALLY for any given "muh realism" faggotry.
>>98308461Maybe a bit longer.>>98309211>And threadly reminder that there is no such premise that a simple d6+6 roll on 3 main stats for chargen and then 2d6 rolls on checks can't handleThat's pretty close to Traveller m8
>>98309211You sound like a massive shithead, but something in the vein of mausritter would actually work really well for a zombie game.
>>98310603You could probably just use Traveller skills, then. Very easy houserule.
Sell me on Cepheus (wtf does that even mean)
