Yes, I know incubi and succubi are (mythologically) the same demon that switches between genders. But I mean in the fantasy sense - There are a lot of succubi, but I think incubi don't show up as much, and don't really 'do their thing' of seducing women.
>>98303716
>>98303716Not a substantial volume of players who want to play women and also find the idea of an incubus attractive, it turns out
>>98303716>the same demon that switches between gendersSuccubi lay below and incubi lay above. Technically they dont switch gender or even sex, they switch sex role.
It just devolves into haha buttrape, eeww because most players are guys so the whole thing doesn't appeal in general, like how lesbians are always the "safe" gay option for inclusion. You never see anybody saying let's redeem the Balor, or Pit Fiend, or w/e, no, it's always the titty demon for good reason.
>>98305491I do this and say this
>pregnate incubus at start of campaign>your cambion son is the final boss of campaign
>>98303716The better question is, what is the gender-neutral term for succubi and incubi? As in, if I wanna include them as a species, that includes both succubi and incubi as female and male members of the same species, what would that species be called?
>>98305491Also guys don't like having a race of handsome men competing with them.
>>98306088Technically it could be concubus, but you could also just have succuba and succubus and succubi. Incubus and succubus are both telephone gamed to shit anyway.
>>98303716Because Roleplaying is a male hobby designed for and by men(straight)
>>98303716Traditional games?
>>98303716For me, it's succubi.>>98306291You never had the glory days of spending time with the succubus in the bathroom?
>>98306088Jews
>>98303716Incubi should be seeming cheerful and nice femboys with stupidly fat dicks who are actually raging misogynists who love to humiliate women.
>>98303716Generally fantasy stuff (games, novels, etc) are dominated by male readers. So a incubus, let alone a successful incubus, is rarely going to be seen because it doesn't apply to the interests of the reader. You DO get them in women's novels and women's stories here and there. In fact, plenty of dating sims have an incubi bad boi or two. But if you wanted them in a work for men, the incubus would have to be the main character so that the man reading would see their conquests as something to root for rather than uncomfortable.
>>98303716>Lost ArkLolLmao even
>>98303716Most players are men and play male characters. Hence the prevalence of titty tempters and no dong danglers.
>>98303716Because most players are straight guys.
>>98303716because its current year. A female seducing and ruining a male is empowerment/revenge/domination coded, while a male seducing and ruining a female is assault/trauma/patriarchal coded.
>>98310768So you're saying in your grog games back in the 80s you had lots of incubi running around dicking your heroes?
>>98310774No, I'm saying incubi being rapey bad-boys or overcoming women - defeating them and dominating them - is doubleplusungood these days.Otherwise the fat feminists will clutch their pearls and screamRAAAPPPPPPPPPPPPPPEEEEEEEE
>>98303716>Yes, I know incubi and succubi are (mythologically) the same demon that switches between gendersfalse
>>98303744Somebody stop this man!
>>98305690A classic tragedy if there ever was one. This is why you don't smash-n-dash and instead actually take time to raise your hellspawn of an offspring.Getting done in by your own child is even more embarrassing than getting shot with your own gun.On the other hand, hunting down the other "parent" to bitch-slap for abandoning him is wholesome af.
>>98306088They don't actually refer to genders but to actions. "Incubus" means "someone who lays down on"/dominant "Succubus" means "someone who is lain on"/submissive. Incubi are just typically male and Succubi female because of gender roles from a time when people actually thought if a woman was on top the man could get pregnant. Even at that time it was mostly treated as a joke, but there are always morons who take a joke seriously. Slight digression, but to answer your question the gender-neutral term is demon.
>>98303716The audience is men most of the time, so Succubi appeal to them more
>>98318355Makes sense. Still, there’s got to be a few settings that are exceptions.
>>98323354Wasn't Merlin's father said to be an incubus?
>>98305571What is this supposed to mean? I don’t get the connection to the thread topic.
>>98303716I can think of few stories specifically featuring incubi.Hell, K6BD take on incubus isn't too bad - seducing not so muh sexually but more Faustian, fanning on victim's selfishness and promising great power. They (and succubi) overall work better as manipulators and power behind the throne than for direct confrontation with the party. One doesn't even need to be a prettyboy, for all we know Grigori Rasputin could have been incubus playing royal family like a fiddle.>>98306088>what is the gender-neutral term for succubi and incubi?fiends
>>98317607>"someone who lays down on"/dominant "Succubus"More correctly Incubus means "Male who lies on top." The root word is "cubare" which means "to lie down." "In-" means "on top or above," "Su-" means "below or beneath" and "Con-" means "beside or with." The "-us" is masculine, "-a" is feminine and "-i" is plural and "-in-" can be used as a diminutive. If you really wanted to get into it the correct terminology would be something like:Incubus - Male demon who sexually topsIncuba - Female demon who sexually topsIncubinus - Shota demon who sexually topsIncubina - Loli demon who sexually topsIncubi - Multiple demons who sexually topSuccubus - Male demon who sexually bottomsSuccuba - Female demon who sexually bottomsSuccubinus - Shota demon who sexually bottomsSuccubina - Loli demon who sexually bottomsSuccubi - Multiple demons that sexually bottomConcubus - Male demon who has sex with othersConcuba - Female demon who has sex with othersConcubinus - Shota demon who has sex with othersConcubina - Loli demon who has sex with othersConcubi - Multiple demons who have sex with others
>>98324188I guess if we're following the rules for Latin conjugation the oft asked question of: What's the gender neutral term for a race of sexual demons? The answer would be Concubum, given that -um is the Latin neuter nominalizing suffix. Which is oddly appropriate, funnily enough. Also I really like this classification system and would definitely steal it, if I had something to use it for at the moment.
