>>98347682Different anon here. Detail isn't as sharp as GW but I'd say it's just shy of their stuff. On the Terrans at least, their rounded chunky design might affect it. However the faces on the Marines and Raynor are as detailed as any GW kit I have. Building the kits is fine and pretty easy with logical parts cutting and placement and none of GW's sometimes absurd parts splitting. It's pretty clear these are intended as game pieces first and foremost. Reminds me of 4th ed era 40k kit design in good ways. I remember seeing some generic sci-fi space marine art where an outer screen on their helmets made their faces look like glowy ghost skulls with a filter. I'm going to try to recreate that with some skulls and glowy pigment under the transparent visor. For the zerg you could like, kitbash eggs and intestines and stuff inside the transparent bubble bits on the queen. You could also use those nano LEDs available out there now to make some bits light up with a battery in the base. Seems like a lot of work but it'll never be more tedious than a decent paint job where time=quality anyways.

Just noticed, while you can build 24 zergling in the starter set, there is only one special zergling sprue (the one used for raptors and swarmlings, enough to build 6 of each, which is clearly not enough, being that the minimum size of swarmling groups is 18 and raptors is 12.However, the zergling stand alone box comes with 3 special sprues, so you can build all 18 swarmlings out of that box alone and use the spare raptors part to build 12 from the starter box.This way you can have 12 Zergling, 12 Raptors and 18 Swarmlings.
