The one death guard player at my LGS doesn't smell at all. In fact none of them do, which is pleasant despite our otherwise schizophrenic/basement dweller appearance.

Does anyone else's LGS have a shame cube? Mine does, pic rel, I assume these are either donations or a lost and found. I never actually asked the store owners why it's here but there are models that appear and disappear over time. I focused on the one rubric in the middle that actually looks pretty good, take a look around for laughs like the aborted baby dreadnought.

What are you currently working on anons? Ive not long started the armageddon box, painted my chaplain and captain with relic shield.

Currently painting 1 of 3 eradicator with bolter. Times like this i wish i didnt pick Iron Hands because painting black so close to white casings for weapons is a pain.

hypothetical scenario:
what if one day, your LGS just closed forever, for whatever reason? (e.g gas explosion overnight, property owner sold it to housing development company etc)

what would your local playerbase do?
my friend posed this question to me yesterday, saying how he doesnt like warhammer communities that congregate around a store (we play at a club, not the LGS) because generally if the store dies, the community dies

I agreed with him because at the local LGS, all the players rely on the LGS's terrain, and that if the LGS just suddenly wasnt there anymore it'd be a huge problem for the playerbase as:
>nowhere else locally could host games (GW doesnt do in-store games anymore, nowhere else owns terrain)
>no players own terrain as they rely on the LGS's
>next closest store is 2 towns away, half hour drive and has limited space
>half of the LGS's playerbase don't drive
they'd be completely fucked

so I ask the question to anons, what would happen locally if that happened?
have you ever thought about the store having to close?

Unironically I think people who behave like this should be taken out back of the LGS and beaten by the entire rest of the occupants of the building. Literally bullwhipped and caned until they stumble home and shower. If we lived in a more civilized age it would be legal to do this.

You should always bathe yourself to flex on the card game community (mostly MTGfags) and keep them in their disgusting smelly corners of the LGS by showing the owner how proper nerds can present themselves. Preferably they will even become confined to their own LGS like my town has arranged.

It truly is though, the game is supposed to be cinematic and narrative and have ideally beautifully modelled battlefields that look like dioramas, mirrored terrain instantly kills immersion and looks like a sports arena made for smelly /v/ermin tourist trannies and league of legends players.
>>
>>98324621

Most of it is scratch-made of plasticard and extra bits with a good paintjob. Literally fractions of the cost to build compared to buying a 2000 point army. And a couple experienced hobbyists can put stuff like this together in a couple weeks, and then it lasts you decades of gaming. And you don't need mega boards that big right away, either.

I just got back from two local game stores, one to pick up some styrene rods for my fasces, and the other to buy the gorkanaut itself at a nice discount. I’m building it right now, then I’ll figure out where I want the fasces and how big the rods will be.
I haven’t been the excited to build and paint a model since the big dudes collage!

I'm aware, luckily my LGS does have some beautiful boards like that, but I'm pointing out how the general community now and even the official rulebooks are full of scum of the earth who are trying to standardize the game as only being played on tournament-style soulless mirrored shit.

40k isn't expensive, the wage slaves who bitch about it endlessly are just poor. No one forces you to buy an entire army all at once. I don't recall ever encountering people who own boats or go golfing whinging about the cost of their hobbies but 40k has this weird entitlement problem where some people want to get into the hobby despite knowing they might realistically choose between groceries or minis.

If you paint for quality over being table-ready ASAP, a $60 box of infantry will give you more hours of entertainment than your average AAAslop video game.

One thing I found out when I really looked into it is that 40k is expensive compared to what it feels like it should cost. Yeah, it's crazy a baneblade costs $200, right? Even recasters, who absolutely despise large models like that, can get you one at a 25% discount AT LEAST.
Well, compare a 40k army (~$1000 for about 2k points) to being a pianist, where a piano that doesn't sound like shit costs $5000 or more. Also, since it's plastic, the army will last forever as long as you don't store them somewhere retarded, but the piano requires more maintenance. Same for shooting, a decent pistol costs at least $500, a decent rifle with decent sights costs at least $1000, every trip to the range costs over $100, and triple all that if you're a competition shooter. Hell, one trip to the strip club costs more than I spend on 40k in two months.
You know what 40k costs as much as? Basic karate. A reputable school will charge you a bit more per month than you would spend on a box of 40k infantry. Only low-end, though, reaching black belt will add some extra costs, and only super popular styles like karate, something more esoteric like FMA or Pencak Silat will also add some extra costs.

My point is that, even though Warhammer 40k feels expensive, and it's definitely more expensive than it should be, it's still one of the cheaper hobbies out there. Most are a lot more demanding. Those are weirdly specific because those are all things I have experience with (well, I never did piano, I did guitar, but guitar is quite possibly the cheapest instrument to learn).

Anyways, I'm starting to suspect my town's Warhammer guy is actually just selling Kazakh recasts. Are the sprues supposed to look like shit and smell like horse? Can I call GW to check?

yeah my /tg/ hobbies (40k and MtG) are cheaper than my non-/tg/ ones (cars and snowboarding)
cars really goes without explanation, huge range of costs both in what kind of car you want and how much you want to modify it, but if we just ignore the car and talk about driving on a track in the most basic way
>each track day costs about $100-200 just for 45 minutes driving
>set of 4 performance tires is $800-2000 dollars, will last a half-dozen sessions at most
>unless you live in a place without cold weather, you have to swap the sticky tires off or have a second set of wheels for them
>track driving is also hard on brakes and the car in general, so factor in a $1000-2000 for other consumables after a few track days
for skiiing/riding
>season pass $600-1000 depending on the mountain
>probably have to drive 45min-2hrs to your local mountain, so gas adds up
>need to buy gear every few years, will be a few hundred even if you budget hard, otherwise $1-1.5k for a full kit (board+boots+binding+helmet+clothes)

If Ad Mech just got access to all the robots they have from Horus Heresy (which in lore they totally do), you could run a list with lots of big robots. I'd like to see Harlequin rules redesigned to something more hyper elite. Pump their damage towards custodes tier, making each one the equal of characters in other armies. Obviously they shouldn't be as tanky as custodes, but tuning them to be less squishy with invulns and minuses to hit would let them stick around longer, while higher movement still gives them a different advantage.
This would have the secondary benefit of making them much more viable as an army of their own even with their limited roster, since you'd be taking far less as they'd cost way more points.
They should still be able to ally with other eldar armies, but making them much more elite would give them a much different niche to the ones already filled by DE wyches and CWE banshees.

Depending on the quality of the printer, you’re using the models can end up with ridges on them that make it very obvious that they were printed
The issue has mitigated overtime as the quality of 3-D printing has improved
But even still low to mid quality printers still produce these ridges on the models
And the higher quality printers are quite expensive still

If you get a good resin printer, curing setup, and spend time properly calibrating everything they can look indistinguishable from injection molded stuff.
I know a few people with printers and the quality, even among two who have the same printers varies based on how diligent they are about setting everything up right.
I'd recommend buying bases, you can get no-name injection molded bases cheap in bulk. If your printing is anything less than perfect in resin, printed bases are super noticeable and look like shit since they are prominent, solid color flat surfaces.

Given that most people IRL paint their legit GW armies like shit, it's not like a decently painted printed army can look much worse even if you are less than perfectly printing.
You can also mix'n'match with legit parts from eBay and/or add scratch elements to lessen any imperfections.
