Built my first Tau Broadside and what a nice kit. Simple to put together but detailed and large enough to totally hold up. The XV8's are nice but you can feel those are older kits when you have both either side of a Farsight or Shadowsun model.
Need to do some airbrushing with a transparent color and I can either buy contrast paint or ink. Which way should I go?
Yup, that's me. The guy who plays IG, Agents, and SoB. The three worst books in the game at the moment. I thought that if I collected three armies, there was no way they could all be bad at the same time...jokes on me...

Acting all aggrieved over a metagame tier list that might only last 3 more weeks is beyond childish. And the title is just so cringe, you can tell these mods felt like they were writing a United Nations press release or something.
>>98327861Yeah, that's fair enough.
>>98327868but GW is going to be basing the game around the opinions of professionals like AOW. e-celebs are half the games played on BCP, which is where the stats GW is going to balance the game come from.
>>98327868>noooo, you can’t expect muh heckin’ e-celebs to put effort into their content. the balance patch is in 2 more weeks! I personally don’t care about a bad tier list, but defending shitty content creators only because the people shitting on them are redditors is grim.

>>98327891very cool. my chino recaster has this guy and was thinking about picking him up.
If you do bad work your business should suffer. The tier list was trash based on bad data, their customers and sponsors (and GW who just featured them) should hear about it.

The reason they like to dress as humans is just because they’re so common and varied that it allows them to have far more experience in how humans operate. if a blood axe were raised in tau space, they would no doubt be using drones, and hiring on “xenos” mercenaries to bolster his warband.

The Order of the Thing We Found In My Backyard, whose abbey is on a planet that was discovered in M40, has to alert the Ecclesiarchy before they do something that gets them all killed so they can be removed from the roster, but they aren't expected to wait for a response.

I don't mind my faction having below 50% win rate, in fact I like not playing the good factions, but sob showed a 35% for this first round of events. That's a bit much. Maybe we can meet in the middle in the mid 40's or so? I don't mind being the underdog, but let's be reasonable. Perhaps just some light points buffs, or something minor like slightly buffing some of the detachments or something. I think most of the people complaining about balance issues don't necessarily expect some magical christmasland where every book is perfectly 50% win rate, there's always going to be leaders and always going to be a few that lag behind, but a few factions are getting crushed at the moment. A few factions are significantly behind the rest, not just a little bit behind. The game is very unbalanced at the moment. It' ok to complain if there's a valid reason.

why do imperials keep telling xenos to cum?
Just read through the Fourth Tyrannic War lore. Hive Fleet Leviathan's latest and largest push into the galaxy is comprised of three tendrils, converging toward the Basitor subsector as they push toward Terra. Each of the three tendrils is made up of millions of bioships, and their spread covers light-years. MILLIONS!This means the ships of Imperial fleets fighting against this Tyranid invasion would be outnumbered by hundreds of thousands of bioships of all sizes and forms. Many bioship types are capable of vomiting Tyranid swarms to overrun planets. How can Leviathan be realistically stopped if its numbers are this fuckhuge?
>>98329006By the time you've finished making your army, who knows what the balance could be. Shouldn't plan around that
I tried to buy something from that shifty site I mentioned yesterday, I used a $20 prepaid debit card like an anon suggested and didn't use my IRL contact info, but after checkout it "declined" the card, lol. I'll check and see if the card still has a balance on it tomorrow.

>>98329333Skitarii rangers/vangard are hard to paint. They need to be elite so you don't need too many of them, they shouldn't be a mass filler trash unit. The original release model range was fairly good but a bit small. The one significant update admech got had a much worse art style and mainly unappealing minis.Any bone admech has got since has mostly sucked.Needs more robots, too few automata.I'm not sure they've ever really had rules that are actually that fun to play either their codexes are far more tame than they should be. When choosing a new army, do you purposefully try to choose something with a different playstyle? Do you go out of your way to choose different coloration?
marine variants are not real armies
When making Tau /yourguys/, are they just supposed to be a miscellaneous army in the greater Tau Empire? Like, space marines and Sisters and IG all have different groups within the whole that have totally different goals and methods and paint schemes, but Tau seem way more unified outside of Farsight.

Space Marines are all over the place, Tau are more like 1:1.5, and Necrons have some truly incredible pricing per-points, like flayed ones being LESS than 1:1 (their average is doubtless fucked up by C'Tan shards all being 1:2.5 or better... the Deceiver is like 1:6).SoB just feel expensive because they're all light infantry or light vehicles, so even though retributors and battle sisters are both $65 for 100 points or more, you feel like you're getting ripped off after buying the same characters but one comes in a set of half as many because their guns are bigger.

>>98330600>implying gameplay matters when a new edition writes new rules and adds new unitsThey could make a starter set of marines vs genestealers where the aliens are the most unga bunga side to ever play and there would be zero problems with it.The only 3 requirements starter factions need to follow are that they must be evil fodder, they must be somewhat easy/forgiving to paint, and they must come with at least one horde unit to bump the number of models in the box because marines must be in numerical inferiority.Dark eldar can get away with most of these except the latter because it doesn't suit them, unless we go with some wretched homunculi creations, while the genecults follow all the requirements except the one where they must be easy to paint, because their actual kits have lots of parts and decorations and human faces can be overwhelming for newcomers, which can be solved for what concerns the starter set contents if the models they introduce are simpler and the faces are either mostly alien or mostly masked. The factions that can never be in a starter aside from imperial factions other than marines, are tau and eldar because they are not bad enough guys.

>>98330954>grow at a galactic scale to feed such a large city, or be easy prey to anyone other than yours truly. You know I didn't think about it like that. Tau tech no matter how good it is will always be inferior to dark eldar one who have the best in setting. And they've solved death so no one really dies when fighting the tau, no one that isn't vatborn anyway. I really like the idea of letting the Tau grow just to feed their city. Tau imperalism , which the tau do for their benefit is actually just feeding their galatic civlisational predator. Its a really neat idea actually
>>98330901every tan paint I'm using is kind of garbage. the gw ones (steel legion drab, andri dust) are that awful mix of thick and translucent, and TTC sandstone is so watery I can't blend or do clean lines for shit.

No. Will it be fine at play distance and get me to stop waffling about not wanting to play because everything is in different stages of painting and different techniques? Yes.

>>98331069Man that's another cool idea. I never thought about the dark eldar themselves wanting to help the Imperium via Golden Throne maintaince so they're main food source can last a little longer. I know in canon it was the admech(?) who somehow contacted them and the single haemoncoli that came tried to fuck them over immediately who then died. But I like the idea of like a very competent team of haemoncoli and dark eldar, sneaking into Terra and the Golden Palace under orders from Vect himself to do urgent repairs without being detected by the custodians or palace staff slaves. And then they're detected by pilgrims who have snuck in over years crawling through sewers or something, lost most of their numbers. Then the dark eldar force them to actually meet the God Emperor fulfilling their only wish and then getting a mega boost from the sheer suffering that would inflict on the pilgrims cause the emperor is a super melted down nuclear core.

>>98331116You fucker, you're the one that beat me to the stock.
How do you deal damage as Death Guard? I always feel like my ranged and even melee isn't doing anything, despite having LoV or LoC with my termies. Plague Marines don't feel like they're doing much either. Is it all just vehicles?
>>98331134i wasnt even on the notification list, just got lucky. saw the scalping prices on ebay and said fuck that, went into the webstore and they were just back in stock.
>>98331135how are you equipping plague marines, who have access to 8+ special weapons, that they aren't dealing any damage?

>>983311351x Plague Champion: Plasma gun, Power fist2x Plague Marine w/ blight launcher2x Plague Marine w/ plasma gun4x Plague Marine w/ heavy plague weapon1x whatever you wantI do this with an attached Biologus Putrifier and Malignant Plaguecaster. The whole unit is shitting out 5+ lethal/sustained and works for both shooting and melee. I've had these idiots spike an overwatch against The Lion and kill him.The thing about Death Guard is that our most effective threat range is 18". We're not great at long range and not great if you focus only on melee. Many other armies are far more resilient than DG and other armies are better at debuffing so you have to find a balance. It feels bad that the whole playstyle GW wants for DG is simply outdone by other factions right now.
there should be a breakaway tau pirate factionhave them led by a rogue ethereal
>>98331229DG are in such a weird place now that HW has kind of shifted their identity from durable and slow medium range threats to a debuffing army where being slow actively hinders their ability to do the debuffing thing outside of a few units. And then they nerfed their best debuff on top of that, so I don't even know what they want them to be anymore.
>>98330858If I had my way the Khrave would just take the place of Dark Eldar nearly 1:1. From even just the 1 piece of art we have you can tell the armor design is extremely adjacent to Dark Eldar so all their vehicles and what not would work just as well for them. I'd say that the pre-fall Eldar that didn't escape to the maiden worlds and craftworlds were completely succed by Slaanesh, leaving the remains of their depraved empire as graveyard worlds that a burgeoning alien civilization stumbled across and slid into repopulating, bumping up against the rest of the Eldar periodically. Then I'd be split on two directions - do they figure out the webway and start actively antagonizing the Eldar, and/or does Slaanesh take notice of them adopting a lot of pre-fall Eldar civilization (especially the icky stuff) and reach out as a patron, giving us the chaos-alien faction the tabletop doesn't have representation for? I don't think the two can co-exist, if they can get into the webway easily enough and also actively worship Slaanesh then it is probably just GG for the Eldar. But I really like both ideas, them infesting the webway in a manner akin to how the Skaven use the tunnels of the Dwarf holds, maybe they even hold Commoragh, not realizing that aping the old eldar empire is probably spelling the doom of their race as well. Or the also bleakly appealing idea of them clearly knowing what Slaanesh can do to a civilization on a grand scale and still serving them regardless works well.
>>98331242I played against a friend with 1KSons recently and they're more durable and better at slinging debuff and can do it at better range. So I'm not sure what the thought process is when other factions do what they want DG to do much better. I want DG to go back to being incredibly durable and shitcan the contagion stuff entirely cuz they've never really gotten it right.

Am I wrong or is it really stupidly hard to get individual models second-hand nowadays? >>98331366hard disagree, they stand out super obvious to me. granted some are worse than others, but it always strikes me as lazy as it adds like 5% total work to model prep. You already have your model out and a hobby knife nearby just scrape/sand them a bit it really takes like 0 extra work for a ton of rewardmaybe im just poisoned by the internet making fun of mold lines for 20 years
>>98330905>I do wonder how that alien mercenaty quarter of Commorragh actually gets no alien mercs in. Dark Eldar would have to guide them there no?Rogue Trader cRPG has this explained. Leftover, discarded slaves walk around and form gangs to survive. That way poorer Deldar can hunt even in Commorragh. There are even gangs composed of Deldar and alien mercs. Sslyth Malice is in charge of one and has Deldar as his helpers.Hell, you can depose Malice and take over the gang and you have even such low ranking Deldar in your gang. And best thing is you can have help them escape and they join your crew once you are back in realspace kekSo this is probably how Sec Maegra happened, a lot of captured slaves formed their own gangs, keep being reinforced by new slaves and breed in there as well.
