Can't have breasts on a blue board!

>What is Trench Crusade?
An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, and it's very Blanchitsu.

>What's the QRD on the background?
The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.

>How do I get started?
All the files are free online:
https://www.trenchcrusade.com/rules/

They used to be split between the website and the discord, but no more. For posterity's sake, the old mega will still be kept active even if it's unlikely to need updating: https://mega.nz/folder/70QH0BBa#Eg-blxYQKkY_C02wErnFTQ

>third party sources for making trenchers:
https://pastebin.com/YzXPVUAc
Use these (and/or 3D printing) instead of the official plastics as their pricing contradicts the accessibility to the game (price wise) Trench Crusade was founded on.

When did this general become a humorous “ironic supporting” grave for trench crusade?
It is a little silly seeing how things have turned out to be contradictions. I don’t see how things will get better.

Do I get it right that even with the Hell Gate open actual demons can't really physically manifest on Earth and Court forces can only do that because they are essentially some freaky half-breeds and mutilated weirdos rather than "pure-breed" demons? I recall reading something like that
>>
>>98341757
Correct. Fallen and Faithful both seem to believe that if a full, 100% demon touched Earth, God would consider that an escalation in the conflict that he would resolve by wiping out everything like Noah and the Deluge (but with fire this time).

Angels probably show up as well, and they tend to end in nuke-level devastation in the surrounding area that spares no one, so God is trying not to take it that far. Hell wants to spite The Tyrant God YHWH by perverting his creation, so they don't want to just destroy the whole thing outright.
>>
>>98337262
Golems are a given. Jokes aside, some money related effects would make perfect sense given how the Jews did historically deal in banking and loaning a lot (although to be fair mostly long after the Gate got opened, so it might not be the case in this setting). But obviously they would get eaten alive for doing that, so not happening.
Maybe some Kabbalah inspired spell mechanic as a sort of Faithful counterpart of Court's Goetic magic?
As for general playstyle, given how they're called Hebrew *Knights* and will also have golems I imagine it's going to be a rather tanky, elite heavy, but not very numerous faction

>>98337262
Definitely Kabbalistic/Gnostic sorcery.
Faction groups based on passages of the Talmud would be fucking peak. TC has been fairly good about exercising a understanding of the different religions at play; I'd love to hear what an actual Rabbi would have to say about the game, and I have no doubt they will get the advice of one to make sure it is on point.
I imagine the HKs will be small forces of elite units similar to Court.

Is it just me, or does making a "trench crusade general" just seem delusional at this point?
>>
I genuinely think this game would have done extremely well if they had just admitted the Faithful are the good guys and not tried this cringe "akshually everyone is bad" shit that invoked the ire of the actual real Lord God. They would have been blessed by the Holy Spirit and their endeavours would have aligned with good fortune, now everything is falling apart because the creators spit in God's face.
>>
>>98350535
On one hand, kinda yeah, on another, being one of the few people here who actually likes and plays this game sometimes I genuinely do want to ask a question about it and this is the only place I can kinda do that. Any other thread about it will be 90% flooded by obsessed haters, while in this one it's more like "just" 66%
>>
>>98350535
Probably not.
The full potential has been lost but I can only see loads of fighting on /awg/ as trench crusaders deny and downplay that their project has been fumbled.
>>98350560
I wonder if you’re right about the last sentence. Are we all damned now?
Either way I’ve been looking at forbidden psalm for my unholy world war setting if I remember forbidden psalm right.
Xenos Rampant might work too.
>>
>>98350583
>Are we all damned now?
No, that's silly. You can take part in playing the game if it's just an exercise in fictional fantasy wargaming to you with no malicious intent. But as for the creators, they clearly had some anti-Christian intentions. Even still their souls aren't permanently imperiled, they could be forgiven like for any other sin, but the fortunes of the game itself are surely cursed. And it's a shame because all that had to happen to avoid this was for the creators to not try to suggest that the Faithful people of God fighting a defensive existential war against demonic forces were somehow on the same level of morality as the literal Legions of torture-rape-cannibalism Hell monsters.
>>
>>98350611
They also shouldn’t have sided with inq28 when they went too far and crossfire banned many based on vibes during the chuddening that let Arch seize his throne as the rent free king.

They shouldn’t have had their Prussians priced at worse value per box meanwhile perry and victrix and wga do so better.

They shouldn’t have stalled for so long on the Kickstarter then poorly deliver on the printed goods.

There’s far more but it is saddening. This general may really be a digital “grave” for us to visit and talk about this game. Others just choose to take a fat shit.

It is genuinely interesting seeing the foundations of trench crusade being floundered.
It started small then just kept snowballing from there.
It is even more fascinating seeing the defense programming in action which has been summarized as denial and downplaying above.
If trench crusade doesn’t magically turn around is gonna be a case study in what not to do at this point in the tabletop industry.
Now how to fix it, I don’t know.
>>

>nothing anywhere said that hell factions were not evil

>idiots and shitposters took a cartoony map of a setting that hadn't begun to flesh out it's regions as an absolute certainty and got mad about it
Honestly, there are so many idiots and disingenuous fucks around this game that it belies chance. There are at least 2 or 3 different posters sitting around waiting to post troll comments, and DARVO like they will die if they don't when you call them out on it.
I would vastly prefer everyone that posts about TC to get permab& on sight, and only see the game if I visit the discord.

>there are so many idiots and disingenuous fucks around this game
don't talk like that about yourself, anon.
Btw it looks like you never read anything of the lore...
>a cartoony map of a setting that hadn't begun
Your standard are very low. A what if scenario about real history and real geography needs authors with some competence.
You can keep downplaying as you want, but if the setting is dumb... it is dumb. If you enjoy dumb stuff it's up to you.
The cool thing about TC was its community, when there was almost nothing about the lore the community was crazily creative. Amazing kitbashing, incredible "fan" stories, dioramas, warbands backstory and so on.
You are talking as it is difficult to have a decent worldbuilding, but the average user of /tg/ can do a lot better.
As it is the worldbuilding SUCKS, justifying the stupidity of it is like justify any action of any character of Idiocracy for absurd reasons.

Okay and how did they know those beliefs in a gaming related space, huh?
Because you were sperging about politics where they don't belong, that's why. TC people don't have some magic chud vision that allows them to detect right wingers.

I swear it, you people are literally just like the trannies and other queer fags who screech about gatekeeping just because other at their local gaming store don't want to hear about their bullshit gender identities or deranged political takes. Same shit. Here's the secret: the vast majority of people in /tg/ spaces genuinely don't care about your beliefs. They just want to play a game with you, discuss nerd shit and have a good time, not listen about why Hitler was right and Europe is endangered because that latter shit does not belong in a gaming space and thus gets you rightly ostracised. Right wing or left wing crap, doesn't matter, fuck off with it, it's not a place for this. It's that simple.

Right, so if a game specific culture spergs out the other way its just as bad right? Pushing sexual identity as the key feature of a setting like what happened with 28Mag is just as fucked and retarded and should be banned right?

Show me that ever happening in relation to Trench Crusade specifically and if it did, I'd agree that it's not on topic and shouldn't be acceptable.
If it was some other 28Mag related game or setting then I honestly don't give a fuck, but as a principle yes, I do think this would be out of place and shouldn't be tolerated. Unless such topics were directly relevant to the game or setting itself as intended by the devs, in which case it'd be on topic

True. It sucks that discord was chosen as the primary place for this game, since any retarded sperg can join in and pollute the conversation.

I literally don’t care about some retard’s interpretations, its literally soldiers of God vs people who use fetuses as belt adornments. The fluff is fun and the game is fun.

First game of TC ever. My sultanate vs my buddy’s pilgrims (we are both still working to paint our warbands).

I like the system, its fast and snappy. I won the game but pilgrims definitely feel like a rough matchup as they were immune to a lot of sultanates little extra stuff.

MVP was my one Azeb who held against a communicant and a pilgrim for 5 rounds in melee without any melee weapon.
>>
>>98377186
>The fluff is fun and the game is fun
Can't have FUN, remember anon? You need to be argumentative and contrarian at all times, because the REAL FUN is ruining someone else's fun!
I wish this was just hyperbole, but people really work on that metric.
>>98377294
>my one Azeb who held against a communicant and a pilgrim for 5 rounds in melee without any melee weapon
That had everything to do with your opponent rolling like butt. That said, communicants are surprisingly... just not the game changers I had expected them to be. In a straight punch up, they can be shot off the board or lose to other elite melee units almost out of hand. I wish they had the speed to close the gap, distraction carnifex style, forcing opponents to dedicate resources to stopping it from rampaging in your backlines where it can do real fucking damage bullying ranged units.
>>
>>98377400
Oh yeah he was rolling five dice at one point and they were all ones and twos. It was hilarious.

>MVP was my one Azeb who held against a communicant and a pilgrim for 5 rounds in melee without any melee weapon.
Yeah, the system is nice and gets rid of lots of usual math and number tracking, but it does produce things like this quite a lot. Often models just refuse to die no matter what you throw at them, while sometimes units that should be tanky as hell just get quickly offed with a lucky shot

True, pretty standard lol.
I would drop the R. armor from the jannisary for standard, and drop skirmisher. Azebs should be lean and mean, unless they are a honor guard for your captain they way they are for mine.
I have yet to really find a place for sappers in a standard list, and I'd like to. They just cost a lot for their kit, and their price can skyrocket before you look twice.

Trench Companion guy here, been a while.

For those who make models, we're looking for more images when the Procession and Naval Raiders stuff comes out in Carcass Front
> https://trench-companion.com/blog/carcass-front-and-model-images

Also a maintenance note:
> We will be switching over our database to a dedicated Trench-Crusade host account. During this time we will be putting the site into 'maintenance mode' and you will be unable to use it.
> Currently we expect the period to start Wednesday 6AM UCT and should hopefully last only a few hours.
This is partly preparation for a potential influx of people when Carcass Front drops - to avoid downtime and too much traffic slowing down load time.

Words cannot convey how much I hate the aesthetic shift to warhammer 40k looking armor. It's not fully there, but you can see the resemblance. For one it's uncreative, but I kinda care the least about that. It's mostly disdainful because warhammer 40k armor looks fucking ugly as shit. It also subtracts from the setting a little built as a third source of lameness. I mean even the HMI, the suped up armor guy from the (likely) most technologically advanced faction in the setting, looks far more gritty and down to earth in design compared to the straight up scifi looking shit in >>98383553

>>
>>98392608
Who is that insetting?
>>
>>98350560
Was the "no good or bad guys in this setting" thing actually directly stated anywhere aside from some random social media post?
Because while I agree such a statement would be fucking retarded here, from my perspective pretty much everything in the actual rulebooks and loreposts clearly paints a picture of Heretics being infinitely morally worse than Faithfull and even those of them who do seem to have any sort of ideology are clearly only motivated by fear, greed, resentment or lust for power.
Meanwhile the Faithful factions are presented as kinda messed up and far-gone, but ultimately just trying to protect their lands from hordes of crazy murder-rape-pillaging enslavers and their horrible otherwordly masters. And even those messed up parts are largely reserved for elite fanatical sects and organisations while most of society is presumably fairly normal, at least to the extent that's possible in such a setting (meanwhile the Heretic society is clearly stated to be totally messed up Hell on Earth devoid of any morals).

My point is that people keep bringing up this "no bad guys" thing and going mad over this, while to me it really seems like some dumbass thing one of the devs (or even their social media guys) said without thinking it through, while the actual setting and the way it is presented doesn't seem to support this idea at all
It's still a mistake they should probably clear up, don't get me wrong

I worked with the company that did their manufacturing for it and I cannot even begin to tell you what a fucking cesspool circus of retarded pigs runs it.

>>
>>98394814
Iirc, it came up in a convention panel.
The midwit take is that they were saying the setting is 'shades of grey'.
The big brain take is acknowledging that the faithful factions would be considered heretics by the letter of their own faith due to the measures they take (communicants, takwin beasts, suicide pills, magic, altering the sacred for of Man).

Unfortunately, instead they find their way to /tg/, and now we can't talk about genuinely cool hobby shit without some zoomer fag from reddit, larping as a conservative, telling everyone that we're evil for playing a game because 'the devs are woke moralists'.

>That being the legal contracts around IP, which take willingness to read contract lore and a knowledge about it to realize there's once again, nothing to criticize.
>GW, at some point, realizes that they've an opportunity to push down a growing rival to their market, having lost many of their big names to TC, and fund money to 40k youtubers and social media, to spread TC slander and control the narrative.

This.
It's one of my favourite things in the setting tbqh. As much as it's skub, every faction that's remotely human, has a distinct theological identity about the world, right and wrong, and what's best in life. 'Heresy' is actually used correctly.
This even comes down to differences between denominations on what's acceptable practices in war, or in prayer.
They're not half-assed, there's body to them all, so they aren't just funny little guys being cartoon villains or antiheroes.

The Pit Locusts are from the Book of Revelation, where they only attack those who aren't on the side of God
>9 Then the fifth angel sounded: And I saw a star fallen from heaven to the earth. To him was given the key to the bottomless pit. 2 And he opened the bottomless pit, and smoke arose out of the pit like the smoke of a great furnace. So the sun and the air were darkened because of the smoke of the pit. 3 Then out of the smoke locusts came upon the earth. And to them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. 4 They were commanded not to harm the grass of the earth, or any green thing, or any tree, but only those men who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads.
Trench Crusade is obviously based on the Book of Revelation overall, where the church is corrupted and the majority of people follow a belief that they are Christian, but are actually following the antichrist

Yeah back before the 4chan outage it was happening and a few threads were made talking about this.
I think this one had the most reasonable “take” on the situation.
https://archive.4plebs.org/tg/thread/94507783/#q94514725
It didn’t come across as the denial/downplay tactics as it was more “lawyer minded” to me. But it didn’t make anything look better. Arguably worse.

Chances are an inq28 mod got janny powers and started banning on vibes while tc fans closed their eyes and acted like this was a good thing when it was just damaging the perception of Trench crusade.
It didn’t help that ffi wholly sided with them and ignored that the mods had a sperg out in what was essentially the defacto online forum that may as well have been official.

That's a shame. I feel like the devs don't particularly like designing for the Grail. Compared to the other factions they're still considerably lacking in content.

Because of RELOAD the Alch will also get stuck out in the open exposed to return fire until their next activation. Azebs generally don't want to be in melee anyway so having ASSAULT weapons doesn't really do a ton for them.

Finally started a new campaign with the boys this week!
We're 3 battles in, I can try posting some battle reports in the following days if anyone here is interested

>Narrative background:
Dantallion, a Great Duke of Hell, have recently learned about a Byzantine super-weapon, allegedly developed by the Empire as a last resort before its fall, but never finished. The Duke have ordered his servants to track it down, hoping to use its power to ascend to the position of Serpent Head of Envy. A large scale archeological dig in the ruins of the Byzantine town of Koloneia has begun, where some of the work on the weapon supposedly took place. The whole thing is kept secret, as Dantallion doesn't want any of his rivals to learn about the project. Some rumours however have unavoidably started to circulate and soon a number of rivaling warbands will cross the wastelands of Heretic-controlled Anatolia and face each other in the ruins of Byzantium in an attempt to track down information about the weapon and get to it first.
>>
>>98445251
Player factions:
>Kingdom of Alba Assault Detachment
Thanks to a combination of spies and reconnaissance aircraft, the Duke of New Antioch learned about the Heretic project in Koloneia and heard some rumours about its purpose. Deeply concerned, he stealthily air-dropped a task force behind enemy lines, especially trained to move undetected through hostile territory with a goal of either intercepting or destroying the super-weapon, if it even exists. A warband consisting of brave Scotsmen is a part of said task force.

>Order of Midas (Knights of Avarice)
Headquartered in Gordion, this Heretic warband dedicated to Mammon has been travelling through outskirts of Anatolia for quite some time now, looking for opportunities to pillage and plunder. The Order has recently heard about Dantallion's project from one of its informers and is hellbent on claiming the super-weapon and adding it to Mammon's vaults.

>Al-Arib's Menagerie (House of Wisdom)
As a research team specialising in zoology, especially in fauna mutated by Infernal influence, the Menagerie has significant experience in expeditions to Heretic controlled lands. Because of that it has been selected to be a part of a House of Wisdom task force, sent to hunt down Tugal Nadir - a rogue alchemist who, unknowingly to the Sultanate, is involved in Dantallion's research

>Expedition 44 (War Pilgrimage of St. Methodius)
Yet another pilgrimage sent in a suicidal attempt at reaching the holy city of Trebizond. After days of travelling through enemy territory, the bloodied Pilgrims are getting closer to their goal, unaware that they are about to march right into the middle of conflict between the other warbands.

So does anyone have any thoughts on what are the strongest factions either in a campaign or in a single game?
I'm currently 5 games deep in a campaign playing heretic naval raiders with a 3-2 record.
We got a sultanate assassins player whos 5-0 currently, otherwise we got a bunch of demons, papal states, basic heretics, wall variant sultanate and a great hunger grail variant.
A few demons and the other heterics are doing poorly, but pretty much everyone is 3-2 now.
Any thoughs on how the factions powerlevels are gonna progress late game?
Cause it seems like naval raiders and assassins of alamut are sort of at the peak of their powerlevel right now and are gonna get progressively worse.
Demons are starting to look scarier and so is the wall sultanare variant.
Any thoughts on this?

As the game currently stands, the two things that give a faction the biggest power spike are their access to good ranged weapon and extra boosts to their dash. Range, even on maps with lots of cover, is still king because it can deal just as much damage as melee but without needing to worry about getting hit back and suffering from debuffs like fear. Range and cover are your main debuffs, sure, but weapons like grenades can work around it.

Consequently, I'd say the two that stand at the top right now are, in order, Naval Raiders and Prussians. Universal dashes with +1 and access to submachine guns do a LOT for Raiders. Prussians can buy an almost universal upgrade for their units to boost dashes and their grenades are extremely powerful while ignoring both range and cover.

I'm frankly surprised that the Sultanate Assassin player has won that much considering they are one of the factions I think are weakest. They have no way to buff all the assassins with dashes, each assassin is very costly in and on itself, and they are a bit of a trap unit since they aren't actually that great in melee. They are affected by fear and don't have enough melee dice to be outstanding with dual wielding. They are very prone to losing against dedicated melee units, especially from Heretic factions.

While I can't be too opinionated on factions that spike later since I haven't finished enough campaigns, one that I *do* notice is a big stand out is Black Grail. Once they can start swarming with their thralls it can become a big problem. They don't necessarily kill all of the enemy team, but they can tarpit like no one else and do objectives without problem on the hand of a skilled player.
>>
>>98451428
>Methodius
2 Anchorite Shrines with unique upgrades are very strong, especially earlier in the campaign when most warbands probably don't yet have much anti-armour to reliably deal with them. They change the way you play in a significant and very fun way. Having increased access to decent firearms is also very nice.
On the flipside, the variant loses much of the other unique and strong things that different Pilgrim warbands can take and probably lose their effectiveness somewhat in the lategame once they run out of strong stuff they can invest in and the Shrines stop being so formidable. Also, since Shrines are expensive, early in the campaign they tend to be outnumbered and can struggle with securing objectives somewhat. And obviously losing an Anchorite hurts your wallet like little else.
Overall I think they're strong, but balanced.
>Alba
Pretty much just Antioch but more melee focused, not all that different, but work well for what they're intended to do. Lochaber Axes are great weapons and their morale bonus is neat, but the ban on reinforced armour means everyone except for your Lieutenant and MHIs is going to be really squishy unless you're willing to run them with 1handed weapons only and light armour+shield
Fun variant to run I think if you just feel like charging into melee and beating the crap out of your opponent.
>>98451667
I feel like most variants that have unit restrictions tend to plateau sooner in the campaign since they hit the point in which they can't really invest in anything other than basic troops sooner and those usually simply aren't that good compared to elites and special units. In our campaigns so far Naval Riders did really well and Court was basically unstoppable. Other factions we tried seemed decently balanced, although I think Antioch has a much higher skill floor than others.
But also, the element of randomness is very strong in Trench which makes personal experiences much less reliable.
>>
>>98451792
>good ranged and dash is king
I kinda agree. The +1 dash that naval raiders have is really useful. So is having a shit ton of veterans with submachines.
But I think in terms of range things like artillery witches and antimaterial rifles are fantastic, submachines usually dont feel THAT useful to me. Certainly better than giving them a rifle or grenade, but i havent played a game where a smg would really prove to be amazing. To me it seems like basic heretics would probably be better late game due to having access to the warwolf and the extra witch mostly.
>assassins seems pretty bad
I disagree, even before i tought that they looked kinda strong. True they dont have +1 dash on all of them but rhey have equally (or better) movement abilities on the 3 assassins. One guy has a fantastic bow, so he can teleport to anything he hits, one has +dash and 8inch move and the last can come from a board edge turn 2. Youd think theyre not that big of a issue, but it feels like they can be really annoying to go against since youre afraid of hitting them since they can teleport. And i also tought that theyd have issues with heretics as i bought fear on all my main melee guys. But turns out skills like
Closequarters combat, surgical strike, strength of samson etc are still pretty good and make them very good in melee.

>>98451854
Yeah, i agree with the plateau take. At which point did demons start stomping? It seemed to me that the demons were kinda weak early game. But god i hate playing against them, fuck hellknights and hunters.
>>
>>98452303
The bow is indeed absolutely fantastic as are all the assassin abilities you mentioned. They are still kneecapped by the fact that assassins start off very money hungry for melee specialists that aren't particularly durable. Any decent opponent will make sure that anyone targeting an assassin has at least one extra die to hit, at which point it's a practically 90% that the attack lands. Nevermind if it's anything that gives them extra blood markers or even armor piercing. If an assassin goes down you may have very well lost the game. If they get a scar, then potentially the campaign. There is a reason there has been open talk in the newsposts about buffing them when their eventual box arrives.
>>
>>98452340
Yeah, i kinda understand that, and ageee.
Though i will also say the person playing the assassins in our campaign is so goddamn lucky. Just one moment i should mention was his assassin leader doing the assassin charge into a anointed with a flamethrower and a chorister with 3 pts of armor. The leader had a assassin dagger and a sword in offhand, plus close quartes combat skill.
Managed to kill anointed with dagger and then killed the chorister with the sword. Both of them had no blood markers on them.
Though i guess the game do be like that.
>>
>>98451463
after decades of slophammer and other pulpy sci fi shit, it is quite nice
>>
>>98452303
>but i havent played a game where a smg would really prove to be amazing
The purpose of SMGs isn't beign good at killing enemies per se, but rather speeding up the blood marker accumulation significantly. 2 shots + assault means decent chances at giving your target 3 markers per turn, possibly more if they're down or you have special ammo, which means faster bloodbathing and more opportunities to screw up their crucial rolls.
>At which point did demons start stomping? It seemed to me that the demons were kinda weak early game.
Having played a full campaign and some one-off battles with them, the first 2 battles or so can be a bit akward - the Court needs some hefty investment in most elites to really bring out their true potential, but also needs enough bodies to claim objectives and supply itself with enough spell fuel, so with low ducat count you can kinda feel that the intended build isn't yet fully online, so to speak. Though it depends on the specific list somewhat obviously. But they still can do decently even in early game.
After that though? My boys basically steamrolled everything. Pretor, Hunter and Saint are crazily strong with right equipment and some decent advancements. Locusts and Knights are very solid units as well. Pretty much every single situation in the campaign which ended up badly for me was very obviously a result of me making a really stupid decision and not really of the strength balance or even my opponents playing especially well. But I must admit that in some games I had unprobably lucky rolls, which is always an important factor to consider in this game.

ANY OF YOU FUCKERS MAKE ANY CUSTOM MODELS FOR YOUR WARBAND? I'M WORKING ON A CUSTOM COMMUNICANT, PIC RELATED. Also how do I not fucking die as Pilgrims vs Court/HL game 1, I mulch shit in melee but it takes quite long to reach my enemies and they can just shoot my shit from vantage points while I move up

Only some very basic conversions. Your dude looks extremely fucking cool though, strong Bloodborne vibes.
>how do I not fucking die as Pilgrims vs Court/HL game 1, I mulch shit in melee but it takes quite long to reach my enemies and they can just shoot my shit from vantage points while I move up
Number one thing to consider with this issue is your board. If the ranged side can dominate this much, your battlefield may not have enough terrain or cover or simply be too big.
Deploying in a way that allows you to use your prophet's ability on a large group of models early on helps in getting to enemy quicker. Also musical instruments. Consider armour/shields for better survivability. Also, if your enemy tends to avoid charging forward and just shoots shit from a safe spot, it probably means he has a poor board control and in many (though not all) scenarios you can fairly easily win by just focusing on claiming objectives rather than killing his dudes.

If you remember what sort of units and equipment the Heretics use I'll try to give some more specific advice.

Just don't fight too much, there's literally no point to it
do the objectives and try to kill shit that prevents you from doing them
>>
>>98464491
This is why I don't really like what they did with the morale rules. I understand that losing the game because of a single dice roll feels bad, but at least it made ignoring the objectives and just going for the kill a viable alternative strategy, even if a bit of a gamble. Now there's totally no point in that, having to fail two morale checks in a row, usually with bonus dice from your leader, when most of scenarios last for 4 rounds is simply too unlikely to matter.
>>
>>98451854
You're approaching Alba from the wrong direction.
Their main strength is that they can have access to a crazy amount of models with Strong.
Up to 11 including Engineers with Satchels.
So that's up to 11 models that can move & shoot with Heavy ranged weapons.
So it weirdly makes them one of the more ranged focused NA sub-factions. Although they can still turn their hand to melee better than most of NA thanks to their other special rules.
>>
>>98465731
Oh, you're right, I didn't notice that rule.

A "substitute" to the Jamissaries as non elites, but with good stats

So early game you habe 1 good kitted Assassin+ support
And late game you can go with 3 hyper kiter Assassins or go with 5 supports with some decent equipment

Oh yeah, absolutely, I feel like the variant basically begs for this kind of unit, both crunch- and fluff-wise

I love that you just gave them a melta and a plasma gun, they look sick and twisted

Oh those look sick, very cool work.

Finished my first three guys for test models - I wanted to give them some tarnished gilding on their armour to signify allegiance to Mammon. I'm probably going to go a little bit more extravagant on the Anointed.

>Operation Leviathan will have real, permanent consequences for the storyline of Trench Crusade as a whole!
What is it that compel these people to turn a setting into a narrative all the time.

Metaplot sells ideas. Its an much more broad market than just models. We've cycled through enough of the indie game rules lite to rules medium 2010s into making recreating the 90 marketing.

This looks like fun desu, I'll be liable to play faithful for it as a change of pace, anyone else intending to lattice?
>>
>>98486583
It drives grassroot engagement and makes folks want to play as their games have actual impact on the story.
>>
Guys I would like to play a game, but I don't know where I should start.
Should I tuck my penis?

Anon, of you read the old testament Bible God is also manifesting trough miracles and such, yet people still do believe in diverent gods. If you think like JWS, 'Hell' is just live without God, goes perfectly well except you will not go to Heaven when you die. Maybe you go to the afterlife of your preferred religion or you respawn of that is the thing, but you will not go and live forever in Christian heaven.

You can fuck right off and lurk more. CompanionAnon is one of the staples of these threads

Bump to safe dying thread of a dead game, with bait but still. Only one anon, with very questionable theology, makes a somewhat thread related reply. Two more shill defenders of Wich one is to coward to properly link. Yes TC must a flourishing game with a great community.

Painted up a trench bunker/mine entrance made from a cardboard package insert last night at the gaming club. Only got one pic of it but is has openings on each short end that will be endpoints for underground passages. I plan to map out each underground passage and have them as a separate mini-map off to the side so players can accurately move either above in the trenches or under ground in passageways.

I only have one more of those inserts and one separate small mine exit piece so there won't a huge amount of passageways, probably just one T-shaped one and one V-shaped one to connect up the entrances.
I might make a scenario for tunnel warfare, though that would probably just end in a massive melee murderball slugfest after 2-3 turns of chucking satchel charges and grenades if i make it too realistic.

>tunnel warfare
That would make some some really cool narrative scenarios.
>warband breaching through a counter-mine and rushing the defender before defenders can finish rigging the explosive stores to blow an important hilltop sky high
You could even refluff Dragon Hunt into hunting an underground beast hiding in abandoned mine tunnels
>>

I'm preparing a scenario taking place in underground cities of Anatolia right now! It will be pretty dungeon crawly
