Confess your traditional game related sins from poor decisions to autism and miniature spending habits to spergouts at the ttrpg table.
>>
I will start:
I have bought resin and plastic models not to assemble and paint them but to “preserve” as printable stls if the manufacturer shuts down and the originals go out of production.
I mainly focus on sci-fi minis that aren’t warhammer related. Historicals are like a hydra where if one goes down new ones will replace them.

At the moment I want to collect wga death fields plastics and save a sprue for future scanning for when scanners are dummy proof and produce results like 3d sprue previews without the scanning “texturing.”
>>
>>98338997
I like my new table. The DM is not only on time, but he himself drives around the city to pick us all up. Every session is prepped well in advance. He has a beautiful, detailed and immersive original world/setting we're playing in. There is no drama. Everyone is civil and respects the rules and works within the framework of their characters...

But I'm thinking of quitting and leaving the bst group of people I ever played with simply because they're playing 5e.
>>
>>98338997
I hoard miniature stls selectively with my personal tastes being what gets saved and doesn’t.
With that said I think my collection is intolerable in how I will be paranoid of losing it. It isn’t as big as most stl hoarders but it doesn’t make it any less better.

This is more a schizo thing I have to confess.
I believe there is an ai LLM bot training and posting on /tg/.
It goes to loads of threads and posts “traditional games” with a question mark or if a warhammer thread outside the generals asks for models.
/tg/ might be used as a testing ground for spam bots as it is slow enough to be low on radar and “active enough” for possible results and responses to train it.
>>
>>98338997
I tried to do armor degradation homebrew with 5e 10 years ago. It sucked.
>>

Get their trust and then propose to run another system once the campaign is over.
>>
>>98339048
They all did play other system. They played BoL, 3.5e, pathfinder 1e...one guy even designed his own 2D6 system. I have no idea why would someone willingly choose 5e.
>>
I'm paying 103€ a month for chatGPT pro just because I can't be bothered searching for an actual group to play TTRPGs with and paying for an AI DM seemed the next best option
So far, it has been okay
>>
>>98338997
Last Twilight Imperium game (mid-June), I misread trade of my faction on first round. After figuring out the mistake, I kept paying myself one extra trade good for the rest of the game.
Nobody ever questioned that.
I came out second, almost winning the game, too. because I managed to outfit a fleet I would be unable to afford otherwise.

Also: fuck Milty Draw. It makes the game boring and predictible. People who play and push this shit are all autismos who can't improvise on the spot.

>>
>>98339148
But this is based actually!
>>
>>98338997
I have a huge ego and bad spending habits.
I have bought stls to share with friends and sometimes anons who ask for models.
Mostly to feel like a better lad than I really am.
The sharing may be wrong, but I justify that I am spreading it about so more people will have it when gw does a takedown on the stl files as I mostly grab warhammer 40k usable files.

I decided on my character's race and class before seeing whG was allowed in my DM's world. Twice
Sometimes, I imagine characters without a game that'll never get any usage. I like writing their backstories.
>>
>>98339045
I think an actual LLM would look quite different and actually try to engage in the conversation. It's completely uninteresting to LLM programmers to build a model that spams the same two lines over and over again.
It's a lot more likely, in my opinion, that there's one or more obsessive users with nothing better to do than try to police the board to keep it "on topic" (but aren't actual jannies). I actually got a dude to delete his "traditional games?" comment in shame a few days ago by pointing out that, yes, playing cards are a traditional game.
Plus, I do still believe that the captcha is effective and beyond the ability of AI to crack.

>>98338997
I'm getting into my first game with true line of sight. I try to be sportsmanlike and give benefit of the doubt, but fuck is it hard for me. Inside, I'm a competitive gremlin.

>with 5e
For shame.
If you want to ADD things, you use a barebones system and add more to it.
The only thing that makes 5e better is gutting it
>>
I have been a forever GM for like... 12 years and after my group broke up i just can't get my arse up to write for the new batch of players i have. I always have great Ideas for setting and ruleset but they are all so vanilla and 'comfy fantasy' only that it just saps me of any want to gm for them. I hope to be able to convince them ro play pirates of drinax instead of le wholesome fantasy i was talked into tho, so that might give me a push (drinax has been my holy grail to gm for a while now)
>>
I masturbated to the succubus, harpy and maralith in the Ad&d monster manual.

>If you want to ADD things, you use a barebones system and add more to it.
5e actually is a skeletonized d20 in most respects, amenable to being expanded with ports of most of the same content.

>The only thing that makes 5e better is gutting it
It's not so much removing large swaths as it is removing underlying assumptions to make room that take shifting A LOT of numbers around to follow through on, like nuking Bounded Accuracy so the modifier can outgrow the d20 as a higher-level unlock condition (technically, smaller standard deviations just shrink this) or smoothing over the "tier" breakpoint power-spikes (especially 5th) so multiclassing opens up (which includes the possibility of re-introducing AD&D and 4e models). ASI/Feat entanglement is also worth mentioning, having to give up core +numbers to access the class-independent remotely-interesting mechanics does some very silly things to build variety.

Though the assumption that the only source of Buttons That Just Do Things is magic is in fact solved by straightforward addition. Rip the Monk's inlined class features for Ki into a widget-list, Battlemaster baseline for Fighter, dust off 3.X's Skill Tricks to give the Rogue stuff...

I derailed and prematurely ended yet another campaign recently because my group are wallflowers that just go along with whatever I say

>Most of my characters are partly based around at least one of my kinks or fetishes. Yes, even the male ones. I try to make it as subtle as possible, working it into their backstories and such, but I sometimes worry that there will come a day I get called out for it.
>I have jerked off to the thought of having sex with one of my characters before.
>I've left more groups than I've been a part of due to my argumentative and rules lawyer-y nature. It's coming up on two years since I was last hasgames.
>When it comes to 40k, I'm the ultimate secondary. Over a decade, I've read codices, read BL novels, played the video games, watched lore and battle report videos on YouTube, and consumed a ton of fan content. However, I've never actually painted models nor played the wargame. The closest I've gotten to that was hanging out in a GW and chatting up the people in there.

As a forever GM, I'm so Goddamn tired of players. I wish I could play with My IRL friends sitting around the table but they all live too far, so I'm stuck drifting through online groups trying to find the right players for the kind of game I run but it seems no matter how much I explain what I'm trying to do, there's always someone coming in who'll spend a whole session doing literally nothing, someone who writes a backstory and does nothing with it, and the majority of them can't even be bothered to tell Me what they wanna do between games so I can prepare stuff as I specified was an expectation in the fucking LFG post.

I'm tired, priestfren. I just want engaged, proactive players for My sandbox game and everybody wants some kind of raliroad even when you explicitly say there won't be one.

>>98339045
That's not a confession, that's just the truth of what's happening. The guy running the bot is an annoying faggot.

I never write campaign notes. I come up with a starting point and an ending for a plot, and then improvise scene after scene. While the players are exploring X area I'm coming up with Y and Z and how to lead them to it.

I'm not a /tg/ guy by any means but I wanted a thread to vent in.

I turned on my local radio station to keep the late night drive from becoming too numb and there's a random tabletop campaign coming from the local college. I do not know how "Actual Play" (I looked this shit up) is typically presented but this specific show is the most boring fucking shit possible. Everything is awkward, players are dull, every time the DM describes a place I find myself changing the channel only to roll back over to it out of morbid curiosity.

It happens every other Sunday I accidentally rediscover this piece of shit program and I feel like my hate is way too strong. I don't care if people play boring but to present this to the public is heinous. I'm mad. I shouldn't be so mad. I get a sick satisfaction of looking up their youtube channel archive and finding no views. If irrational hate for people playing in a way I don't like is a sin then I'm boiling over.

I have a nearly perfect group, and in this group I have a nearly perfect player. My golden boy, great roleplayer, party driver, respects me and worships the ground I walk on, because he thinks I'm the best DM in the universe.

I constantly snap at him, because he's severely autistic and never knows when to shut up. He's the only one amongst my two groups I ever yell at. I feel a little bad about it, but then I remember how he talked to me about his paladin for 3 hours when we've first met, and the shame passes.
>>
I haven't gamed since high school and I don't know how to get back in. I'm gonna try joining some game on discord, feels frightening.
>>
>>98338997
My group has already decided to kick a problem player after this current campaign finishes. Nobody in the group has told him yet and he doesn't suspect a thing.
>>
I make the files for printable minis and don't hold myself to a schedule. I don't have a Patreon but I go through phases of a kit every 2 weeks to one kit every 2 months for no real reason other than my personal desire to do the project waxes and wanes. Sometimes I lie to my customers and say I have things going on when I really don't and just don't want to open Zbrush.

>>98342379
It's okay, I know the feeling. Actual Play is the most rage inducing thing I've ever seen. If I wanted to listen to bad improv... actually there's no end to that sentence because I never wanted to listen to bad improv. Critical Role has done irreprable damage to tabletop games.

My dad tried to start a YouTube channel where he was running two campaigns with two sets of players and DMs. It was pretty bad. I live with him (normal in this country) and it was super weird having like 18 people over from 8am to 9pm every Sunday for like 2 months. They were all kind of autistic furry coded. Thankfully my dad is flighty creatively and gave up when he realized it would take years to build up a community and he also hated most of the actors.

Interesting side story to this: I'm not white but my dad is and he asked if I wanted to do the show, not because I would be good at it but because I'm "racially ambiguous". This is extra funny because he's INCREDIBLY vocally progressive. Like donated 3D printers to Ukraine, and money to those MN ICE watch groups.

>>

>>98339025
just stick with it and ask for a different system for the next campaign, and even if that fails you should still stick with it, the group is more important than the system
>>
>>98343340
If only if was that easy
Each time I propose my old group if they want to play something they ask me to DM and I've been DM'ing for too long to actually DM again
>>
>>98339025

Give it a couple more sessions. And see if people are fine mixing it up(eg offer to run a one-off of Call of Cthulhu for Halloween).

I feel like people have come to expect everything on their own terms. You can stream movies/shows of niche subgenres or customize your glorified milkshake from Starbucks down to how many pumps of syrup go into it. But an in-person RPG is always going to involve compromises since it's juggling the preferences of 5-6 different people.

I have ridiculous paint color selecting autism.
I like my paints to be easily replaceable tone wise so I like historical inspired colors from napoleon era to the world wars and Cold War. Generally the federal standard archived colors and the rest.
The problem is that metallics don’t have this standardization as far as I know. So my best bet is getting citadel paint metallic copies from say warcolours or armypainter that has mimicked citadel paints a lot.
I might blow a big load of change on this.

Last year, I submitted the prototype of the card game I've been designing for years to a competition, but I didn't make it to the finals.
Now I have the opportunity to submit an updated—and possibly "better"—version before the end of the month... but I'm having a lot of doubts.
Nothing is guaranteed, but since I already failed with such a similar prototype before, I have very little hope that this time it will lead anywhere.
>>
>>98350510
Most of us did.
It is a crime most are guilty of like buying citadel paints.

I must confess I think paints preloaded with mixing balls are bad. If they’re stainless steel they may eventually rust if something goes wrong.
It is better to not have them preloaded so painters can choose to load them or not.

I saw a privateer press p3 tutorial and I’m looking at their usage of primer can lids as handles.
I’m gonna awkwardly email mechanics if they are okay letting me pick up some lids from empty cans so I can try this.
And maybe try some silicone or rubber tape to add extra grip to them.
The asking will be stupid but maybe not as dumb as some busted cars they deal with.
They’ll probably charge me to buy the trash hopefully not much.

I drop some money on some kickstarters when I was in a group and they seem they would be up for trying them out when I got them. However, 6 months later they group died and now I am getting the very books and games they wanted to try and every new group have be tourist that just want to play 5e cause they barely know how to play that. Now I annoyed getting these games that though I have been reading and liking the ideas of said games. Hate I can't find a group to play any of them.
