Have the vibes actually shifted against pure-martial characters again? More and more throughout the various gaming boards, there seems to be a lot more pushback against STR-onlyfags with more positive posts about Clerics and Wizards and spellblade archetypes being more common. The general consensus seems to be while the Thief/Rogue/Dex is still for fags, magic is back to being cool again while Fighters/Knights/Barbarians have actually lost some of their panache in relation. Why is that the case? My own guess is that the memes lionizing STR related concepts just hit mainstream media more and it just comes off as somewhat cloying to a degree. The INT/WIS on a conceptual level does actually give you some degree of separation from the normalfags who seem to have become a lot more basic in recent times.
>yet another classfag console war thread
>>98344267I do not know or care what a bunch of faggots on 4chan think, but I will say that in any system where magic exists, playing a pure martial is usually boring as piss.
>>98344267It's because nobody tracks weight and most weapons can scale off of DEX, and Strength has all of one damn skill. Can't even roll for 18/00.
>>98344267DnDogshit 5e has 2 pages devoted to mundane skills and over 100 pages (over an entire third of the book) devoted to spells. Gee, I wonder why people think the classes there cut off from a third of the content in the game kind of fucking suck.Of course none of this is a problem if you play good games instead of D&Dogshit, but 99% of TTRPG players never reach that point.
>>98344646>>98344691>>98344702At the height of 5e's popularity there was constant think pieces on youtube, reddit, 4chan, twitter about how the human fighter is the only real way to roleplay.
"Common consensus" is stupid and meaningless and shouldn't affect your games, but I can 100% see people getting annoyed with STR fags. They never shut the fuck up about how badass and manly they are and won't stop making stupid dogshit memes about how STR beats everything. I'm willing to bet money half of them are fat paganlarps as well with big smelly "viking" beards.Just play what you like and don't be an annoying dick to people who play differently unless they're causing significant problems. The point of a game is to have fun.
I don't have any additional input but I do have this image.
>>98345221fair enough
Magic:>Gets to do a fuckton of stuff, sometimes better than what non spellcasters can do, ton of flavor, ton of things to do, tons of creativity, sometimes get to outright break the "rules" of the game a littleDex/Skill>High speed, fast reaction, do lot of things, highly adaptable, melee or ranged or both, pretty much every shonen character is a DEX build of some sortstr:>dumb, slow lug that offers as much contribution as a troll without regeneration, useless outside of combat except as a pack mule and in combat is usually outmaneuvered or outdone by the other twoFace it the only "pro str martial" shift in the zeitgeist was people coping, seething, crying loudly and jerking each other off in echo chambers before being told to shut up already
>>98344267> Be me> 15 years or so ago> Homebrew 4e Monk into "Martial Controller"> Party is all Martial> Having a blast GMing for themCouldn't care less about the "vibe" beyond my own groups.
>>98344803>YouTube So the opinions of retarded faggots like (you)? Have you ever thought for yourself instead of just being told what to think?
>>98344803At the height of 5e's popularity it was still a shit system, much like today.
>>98347754True>>98347751No, I generally think that baseline fighters with no magical powers are boring as fuck to play. That doesn't mean I can't notice a consensus
