>>OverviewWe are going to construct some mechs. This is a stand alone thread for mech construction challenges. Each scenario given will have 4 days to submit an entry. You may submit more than once (like we could tell anyhow) but each must be on its own post. The bids will then be compiled and voted on by Anons in the thread to determine who gets the contract. Voters should consider the mech's cost, effectiveness in the desired role, and the fluffiness of the sales pitch and description.>>RulesYear, tech base, and tech level to be used for the mech will be specified in the scenario, and should be followed.Positive quirks must equal or be exceeded by negative quirks, with no more than 6 quirks total.>>FormatingMech pitches should be formatted as follows:Chassis ModelRoleWeightQuirksBattle Value at a 4/5 pilotDry Cost in C-BillsSales pitch and In setting fluff.>> Voting categories We will have a few. >>98347171Wait, are we supposed to set the model year to 2848 or 2766? The first part is talking like we're in the Golden Century and we're only 6 years from the Omnimech being fully invented and when different Clans are starting to invent and hold onto specific instances of Clantech, but the latter implies we're designing before the reclamation of the Pentagon Worlds.
>>98347546We're in 2848 with most of the fun stuff that gets brought to the Inner Sphere in 200 years besides Omnis, building an upgrade of a Mech we brought with us on the Exodus.
>>98347171Wasp IICScout25tEasy to Maintain, Improved Communications, Cramped Cockpit, Non-Standard PartsBV 735441, 750 KE (2, 208, 750 C-Bills)Re: Wasp Production Candidate SA041After examining the prototype Valkyrie we obtained from the Sea Foxes, we have successfully adopted its capabilities into our updated Wasp, just as we have with those of the Stinger. The communications suite that design features has been refined and integrated into the Wasp with only a minor loss in cockpit size, though the few facilities that have been allocated to its manufacture will limit replacements. We anticipate this being a minor issue during reconnaissance so long as contact is minimized. As our MechWarriors have limited their demands to an additional launcher being mounted instead of the mandated TAG designator - as well as the typical insistence on double heat sinks - no further modifications are likely to be ordered barring the promotion of a new Logistics Adjutant. As such, we will be finalizing this configuration and begin production of the demonstration units as soon as possible.I offer my rede that the demonstration will be ready for Khan Truscott's arrival next month, and he will be assured of the new Wasp's suitability against Clan Mongoose.Alexis Ninov
>>98347171Hey, question: is it explicitly only models with IIC refits that are disqualified or are all IS 'mechs that got refitted, re-made and/or re-hashed by the Clans at some point off limits even if they're not explicitly IICs? For example, I was going to do a Mercury IIC because it wasn't on your list but Sarna says that Clan Wolverine made a Mercury II and that Clan Coyote used both the Mercury and Mercury II as the basis for the Coyotl. Same question for 'mechs like the Galahad and Crab as they were the base designs for the Glass Spider and Night Chanter respectively and the Wasp also has a Wasp C from the Dark Ages.
>>98347171What about designs that are IIC of certain mechs in all but name? Great Wyrm for the Dragon and Supernova for the King Crab?
>>98347171Crab IICSkirmisher60 TonsQuirks: Easy to Maintain315413,312,000 "C-Bills"The Crab battlemech was an exceptional design that even some Keshik forces are known to make use of the CRB-27sl now, but we have been significantly held back from how few were able to be produced before the great Alexander Kerensky brought down the despicable usurper. With much of its use limited primarily by a lack of production rather than quality issues, we have revisted this design and saw a number of things that could be improved even upon the CRB-27sl variant owing to developments in technology we have experienced.A slight increase in size to Heavy Battlemech standards and an upgrade to an Endo-Steel structure has allowed for an additional 1.5 tons of armor for a total of 10.5 to reach the maximum that this tonnage can support for this Ferro-Fibrous type, and an increase from 14 to 18 Double Heat Sinks. This increased heat dissipation has allowed for us to upgrade the Large Pulse Lasers to be Extended Range Particle Projector Cannons for enhanced range and damage, the upgrade of a standard Medium Laser to an Extended Range Medium Laser, and the installation of a Small Pulse Laser for infantry management and further damage to be inflicted at the range of the older Medium Laser. The Medium Pulse Laser has been retained but at modern enhanced specifications. None of this has come at the cost of mobility, and that has even been enhanced owing to the implementation of a Myomer Accelerator Signal Circuitry system. While this comes with some additional costs of manufacture, this has produced a 'Mech that we project can outfight combatants significantly greater in tonnage than itself and it shall be an excellent addition to the touman of Clan Burrock as a result.

This permitted a smaller engine to produce the same speed, even with the original (now ferrofibrous) 15t of armour. finally, three C-ER PPCs were mounted in each torso. This machine would be just as affordable, mobile, long ranged and defensive as its predecessor, but rather than trading blows with 'mechs half it's size, it's electric scream would freeze the hearts of any foolish enough to believe a garrison 'mech would be second rate

>>98347171Chassis: Charger IICRole: ScoutWeight: 45 tonsQuirks: Easy to Maintain Barrel Fists (LA) Bad ReputationBV: 1,073Dry Cost: 4,049,633 C-billsThe idea why any Clan would believe a mech such as the long derided Charger could have any role in a modern touman would remain a mystery if it were not for the experiences of Clan Hell's Horses during Operation Klondike. During the conquest of the Purgatory Peninsula Clan Hell's Horses found that in their combined arms approach to warfare their mechs would be prioritised by opposing forces while their infantry and vehicles were often ignored. This gave both the Clans scientists and warriors an idea, a fast response mech designed to draw fire from the enemy yet be also fast enough to make targeting it an issue. Taking the design schematics of the Charger and shaving off 35 tons of weight, the Hell's Horses were able to upgrade the speed significantly while retaining the protection levels and firepower of the original. Finally as an added bonus no advanced weight saving materials are used this design nor are double heatsinks making the final Charger IIC extraordinarily easy to repair.Unfortunately Clan Hell's Horses forgot to account for one thing, this design would be fighting fellow Clans not the rag tag forces of the long defeated Pentagon Powers. In several trials several warriors refused to sully their honor by engaging one in combat, disgusted at the perceived unworthy foe and asking they pick another mech instead. The final nail on the coffin for the design was when a Jade Falcon warrior finally did accept a batchall but choose to engage it with a vintage Hussar. Despite the age of the Hussar it was able to destroy the Charger IIC without even suffering a scratch as its superior speed and range of its old Newhart laser meant it could always keep its foe from ever reaching weapons range. As an added insult the Falcon did not claim any isorla from the battle and the design was left to be quietly forgotten.
>>98349252>IIC>Significantly heavier or lighter than originalAbsolute kinography, Phoenix Hawk IIC is best IIC for this reason. The overall design was lightened to 40 tons without a loss in effectiveness, the design uses endo steel but not ferro-fibrous to keep costs down. It has 4 jump jets to allow for moving through rough terrain while 11 double heatsinks keep it cool. Two of the medium lasers were dropped and the remaining two were replaced with ER version with the Clan LRM's lack of minimum range compensating for the loss of two medium lasers though the freed up weight allowed for 2 more tons of LRM ammo. This would however be false as most of the changes come from internal adjustments over external leaving little parts that can be shared. Designed by Clan Mongoose to complement their raiding forces, the Excalibur IIC has a rather generous ammunition supply allowing it to fight for extended periods of time. The lighter weight of Clan weapons allowed the designers to max out the armor of the chassis although the placement has left certain actuators exposed which would have became a problem if this design lived to face Elementals. Lastly the tracking computer has seen refinement which gives it an added edge in ranged combat. The end result was a formidable design infamous among Mongoose rivals who already found their tactics dezgra who did not look forward to facing it as an opponent. When Clan Wolf dared ask the question why the they had not followed their example with their refurbished Excaliburs and make them very cool running the Mongoose response was to call them as quoted by council logs, "a bunch of dezgra pussies!" This did however seem to touch a nerve and a second version with double heatsinks soon appeared with a far more deadly energy focused loadout. Despite being a powerful design and giving the Mongooses several victories, neither variant survived their absorption by the Smoke Jaguars as that Clan choose to scrap them all rather than retain them out of what they called honor, others called hubris.
>>98349535I was thinking of including a Charger IIC 2 that was legit using recycled Phoenix Hawk engines because of the Phoenix Hawk IIC existing and as a way to save the design but I thought against it. Thought it would be more entertaining to make something on the surface would actually appear to be a bright idea and fix the concept of the Charger 1A1 but then utterly fail for a complete new set of reasons that designers did not take into account so they gave up completely.

The confused admiration he received quietly closed the matter. Later Mongoose Khans would not inherit his political abilities and when Mongoose warriors slaughter Star Adder colonists on Marshall, sowing the seeds of their eventual downfall, it was at the cockpits of the Stalker IIC.Essentially a heavily refurbished Stalker in all but name, thanks to the weight savings of Clan weaponry the Stalker IIC is able to exceed the armor protection and cooling capacity of the original while shaving 5 tons of weight. Armed with a formidable weapons array linked to a combat computer that helps manage the pilots load allowing them to become experts at gunning down civilian castes. Very few opponents can survive a direct engagement with this mech without significant damage.

This report is both our recommendation, and our testimony to our shame and obsession.Taking inspiration from your own history, Khan, we aspire to rip the Rampage from cursed Amaris' heritage, like you yourself denied him your service. May in time all his tools be reforged to serve the Great Father's design.Based on a captured RMP-4G built in 2750, and enhanced by analysis of the 2767 model 5G, our suggested Rampage IIC invests heavily into speed, protection, and overwhelming yet precise firepower.A massive 340 Extralight Engine of improved design, enhanced by a MASC-system, allows the warrior to maintain their chosen distance. The maximally efficient amount of standard plate protects the Endo Steel frame of this 85 ton behemoth.Accurate twin ERPPCs split between the heart of the 'mech and the right arm provide long-range firepower on par with the venerable Awesome, while 16 double heat sinks keep the Rampage IIC cooler. Should an opponent decide to close the range, five modern Medium Pulse Lasers and two precise Streak SRM6 launchers you yourself refined with one ton of reloads each will make short work of their mangled machines. And should infantry participate in the trial, two Small Pulse Lasers make for an efficient and above all precise solution, unlike the Flamer favored by the rotten Rim Worlds Republic. An ECM, Active Probe, and Searchlight will allow the warrior the greatest discretion and clarity in their encounters. The shame is ours. Judgement is yours.Seyla.
>>98347171Chassis: Hornet IICRole: ScoutWeight: 20 tonsQuirks: Narrow/Low Profile, No/Minimal Arms, Cramped Cockpit, Hard to pilotBV: 428Dry Cost: 6,475,200 C-billsCreated in response to accusations that Clan Burrock appeared to be developing ties with the growing Dark Caste during the Golden Century, the Burrock Khan of the era rebutted that they were in fact studying a way to expose the undesirables to the benefit for all Clans and quickly showed a crudely drawn diagrams based off what appeared of what many considered a rather lackluster design, the Hornet.Designed to act as a spotting unit the Hornet IIC had a troubled development. Unarmed but not meant to engage in combat it was meant to locate encampments and deploy a beacon that would alert nearby forces before they would have a chance to escape. The first issue was when running at the full speed of 324kph aiming the NARC launcher became an impossible task for the pilot due to issues with the launcher becoming lose, however this was resolved by a rather unorthodox solution. Due to the rushed development one prototype had its NARC fitted facing rear and it was unnoticed till the test pilot reported that the NARC was not only firing backwards but firing steady. All future prototypes would take advantage of this accidental discovery. The second and unresolved issue was due to the large engine cockpit space was sparse and left controls hard to reach. The end result was a design which on paper seemed an ideal spotting unit for Clan forces hunting down the ever illusive bandits but in practice even with the NARC launcher issues resolved pilots would fail to tag their targets as they would be concentrating heavily on trying to retain control of the machine resulting in several instances of some confused bandits seeing a two legged blur zip through their camp and disappear into the distance to a faint sound of screaming. Nobody though at least could accuse the Burrocks of not making an attempt however.
>>98350233Thank you. I was thinking how could I make something that any other force outside the Clans could actually make use of but would fail 100% because its the Clans.
>>98347171Chassis: Pillager IICRole: JuggernautWeight: 100 tonsQuirks: Battle FistsBV: 3291Cost: 22,978,000 C-billsCreator: Clan Star AdderLore:Created during the Golden Century the Pillager IIC was an attempt to create a breakthrough mech and a direct challenge to the Stone Rhino, sitting in the same weight class and with the same mobility but with an overall heavier and longer-ranged armament. Clan Star Adder deployed them to lethal effect against other clans, its size, protection, range, and lethality drawing fire away from more mobile elements of the clan's touman. While the Pillager IIC would rapidly disseminate through the clans, its frequent deployments resulting in it ending up captured as isorla it would decline in relevance with the development of omnimechs and particularly larger assault omnimechs developed in the 31st century. The mechs would generally be relegated to solahma and provisional units left to rot as they were replaced by easier to maintain and cheaper mechs, the 100 ton beast being redundant for hunting pirates and small skirmishes, often being bid away first. However, the Pillager IIC would see a revival during the Wars of Reaving. The desperate conflict with other clans and The Society forced countless Pillager IICs back into frontline combat, and regardless of the age of the mech two gauss rifle rounds and two PPC blasts are devastating. With the absorbtion of Clan Burrock many of the old and even newly built Pillager IICs were sent to clusters manned by former Burrock Warriors.Capabilites:Maxed armor, 3/5/3 movement, two gauss rifles with tons of ammo, two clan ER PPCs, and heat neutral. Hit you in the face with a sledgehammer before you can react.
>>98347163For future challenge ideas, superheavies could be fun, or just literally have an anon commission something specific "I want a heavy striker mech that will be hard to put down for good and can stay in the fight for a long time without resupply during campaigns, at least 5/8/0 or 4/6/4 movement."
Dragoon IICSniper60 tonsQuirks: Easy to Maintain, Modular Weapon (ER PPC, LB-X AC/5), Bad Reputation, Non-Standard Parts, Obsolete (2848)BV: 21992, 410, 560 KE (12, 052, 800 C-Bills)It seems our prudence in keeping discussion of Kain to physical documents has been justified. The Sea Foxes have approached us regarding our experiments with the Mercury, without seeming to realize the true nature of our "experimental Rifleman." As they have volunteered their assistance in further developing the universal mount concept and there is nothing more to learn from this abomination, all traces of the project are to be repurposed or destroyed immediately. Fortunately, we had indeed modified a Rifleman to confirm our findings, and have adjusted its exterior to match Kain's should there have been any lapses in security. This dezgra experiment shall be reduced to slag and forgotten without any learning of the truth behind it.If nothing else, we have learned much from Kain. Most of it in how to incorrectly implement this technology. The entire gunpod must be detached and replaced with another, then the gyro and tarcomp set to the appropriate preset and recalibrated. This swift reconfiguration would be enough to justify further development if not for the downsides. Because we have been unable to implement a universal ammunition feed, the magazine must be included with the arm module instead of safely within the torso. The arms themselves can only have a variance of a few tons between themselves, otherwise the systems are unable to compensate. Mounting an assembly with a lower arm and hand was successful, until the recoil from the Autocannon ripped it from the connection after only four slugs. Most of all, these pods have little tolerance for modification. Should compatible weapons become scarce during a campaign, Kain would be reduced to its secondary laser cluster. Each of these flaws will need to be addressed in our next iteration.
>>98350722Small modification, apparently I used a normal XL engine. No practical difference, but should have an extra empty crit slot in each side torso with 3374 BV.
Chassis: Flea IICRole: Skirmisher[uncertain]Weight: 20 tonsQuirks:Narrow/Low Profile, No Ejection SystemBV: 768Dry Cost: 2,821,440 C-bills/[HISTORICAL CONVERSION DATA NOT AVAILABLE]Creator: Clan Jade FalconClan Name: KestrelCreated by Clan Jade Falcon as an experimental refit of the venerable FLE-4, the Flea IIC has come to represent an insight into the ethos of Jade Falcon during the early Golden Century [ca. 2830-2930]. A blistering top speed of 194kph (with MASC enabled) and a narrow profile ensured that the pilots of the Flea IIC would be among the first to close on an enemy at close range while also being extremely difficult for enemy 'mechs to out-maneuver or target, which has been considered by analysts to represent a shrewd psychological warfare tactic - as engaging in melee combat or moving out of range of an opponent's weapons is considered to be a dishonorable act [dezgra] among the Clans, it has been proposed that the true role of the Flea IIC was to bait an opponent into those acts. Such conduct on the part of their opponent would give Clan Jade Falcon social leverage after the combat no matter the ultimate outcome while losing in the absence of dishonorable acts still reflected positively on the bravery of the Jade Falcon warrior who chose to pilot such a 'mech and a victory against against anything outweighing and underestimating the Flea IIC would bring extra honor to the Clan and the mechwarrior. Mounting a scant 3.5 tons of ferro-fibrous armor and a 180 XL engine the Flea IIC is unusually vulnerable for a Clan battlemech even with its endo-steel frame, but the six torso-mounted small pulse lasers cooled by ten double heat sinks give it a respectable and indefinite punch in close engagements. The small production numbers and disproportionate usage (anecdotal) of these 'mechs by Jade Falcon sohlama and disgraced pilots for ritual combat combined with the lack of an ejection system seemingly lends credence to the theories mentioned above.

Equipped with a TAG, Active Probe and ECM suite, the mech is meant to properly fulfil the Charger's original concept as a 'Heavy Scout". Armed with 5 Medium Pulse Lasers as its primary armament, backed up by a triplet of LRM 5's (which are based on common 'upgrade' packages seen on Chargers back in the inner sphere), the mech still maintains the original speed of the Charger, while improving them with 5 jump jets. An AMS system is also included.Conceived and presented as nothing more than a show of the technological superiority of Clans, and as something of an unabashed joke by Clan Wolf, detractors of the clan still took the chance to claim that the Charger IIC was a mark of how close Clan Wolf was to the inner sphere, and that the mechs position as a joke as nothing more than an attempt to mask this. Trials of Grievance ensued. The mech, for what its worth, was seen as decent at its intended role. The maintaining of the originals Barrel Fist was seen as something of an anachronism by pilots for a proper clan design, no matter that the original Charger had it, while tech's working on the mech had some words to say about the chassis itself, as the mech still used IS grade Endosteel and Double Heat Sinks in its engine - Clan Wolf wasn't going to waste modern materials on a joke!I Love AMS! >>98347171Awesome IICSniper80 TonsNo Quirks1776 BV8,532,570 C-BillsThe Scientist Caste of Clan Blood Spirit almost balked at the directive to improve the venerable Awesome. A truly timeless design, the AWS-8Q was perhaps the most ruthlessly optimized BattleMech not only of its era, but FOR its era. A simple upgrade to modern materials would leave it vastly under-tonnage with little armor to add. The addition of a fourth PPC and heat sinks would over-strain the chassis, and use of Endo Steel to compensate would consume too much volume for the heat sinks to fit. True to the Way of the Clans, the solution was simple and obvious in hindsight: make it faster. That the Awesome IIC presented to Khan Boques so closely resembled the AWS-8Q is testament to the brilliance of its original designers. A Clan-grade chassis, a minor revision in its CT armor balance, and modern weapons supported by Double Heat Sinks. The most dramatic changes only appeared in motion, where its upgraded engine provided additional maneuverability while retaining its modest evasive potential, and the Awesome's iconic 3-3-2 firing bracket became a devastating 3-3-3-3-2 pattern, further enhanced by the new ERPPC design. While a phenomenal display of early Golden Century engineering, the Awesome IIC would not be long for fame, as the rise of the OmniMech brought the Executioner and Kingfisher, both capable of replicating the AWS-8Q package, and much more besides. With no clans having successfully trialed for the production rights, the Awesome IIC soon became relegated to second-line Blood Spirit units, where its legendary durability left whatever remained of it after a battle unfit to be returned to service even if claimed as isorla. With production halted, the Awesome IIC was effectively extinct by the time of REVIVAL, and only three models are recorded as having given battle during the Annihilation of Clan Blood Spirit during the Reaving, where they were comprehensively destroyed.

>>98347171Kyudo IICMissile Boat45 tonsEasy to Pilot, Exposed ActuatorsBV 1,7314,426,270 C-billsKyudo IIC 2 (2850+)SniperBV 1,9464,775,720 C-billsDeveloped originally by Clan Goliath Scorpion, the Kyudo IIC was created due to a pressing need for a new training mech that better fit the doctrine of Clan warriors which was also equipped with modern weaponry. Finding the old Terran Hegemony Kyudo design ideal and requiring very little in terms of modifications, Goliath Scorpion scientists went to work and found that thanks to the weight savings Clan weapons offered they were able to produce it without the need for endo-steel or ferro-fibrous armor allowing them to build numbers of them rather easily. They were also able to enhance the firepower by exchanging the laser for a PPC. The additional benefit of not having to use bulky weight saving materials is that they were able to expand the room inside the cockpit allowing for what many would call a rumble seat, giving plenty of room for an instructor to provide assistance in what was already considered an easy to pilot design. The Kyudo IIC would eventually fade into obscurity with the advent of the omnimech and battle armor, the latter posing a significant threat due to the exposed actuators and having an armament not ideally suited to fighting them thus new trainer designs took its place. Despite this eventual obsolescence the Kyudo IIC had a brief stint of infamy as through some unscrupulous means Clan Mongoose were able to produce a significant batch of upgraded versions of their own that no Clan could figure out just how it was performing such accurate shots with its PPC until one was salvaged from the field and it was discovered to be one of the first designs ever to be fitted with what would go on to be called the targeting computer. Very few of this model remains as many Clans were understandably eager to get their hands on this variant for study.
>>98355103The idea of including pilots could be fun, especially with people focusing more on lore and background.
I was gonna do Flashman IIC but after poking around there is nothing interesting to do with it, that shit just swaps over and gets even better. Even if you keep it pretty budget and don't even go endo/ferro it's fucking ridiculously good, can even add jump jets. There's literally no reason to do anything but a straight up gear swap unless you're using weight savings to jam in more heat sinks and go all pulse for an utter monster, or swap in PPCs for the Large Lasers, with added heat sinks.Literally too optimal to be worth bothering with.
>>98357182Flashman is a perfect being, much like the Hunchback and Awesome.
>>98357182It's a shame it's fluffed as such C* mechs, because I honestly like the Flashman and Black Knight more than a lot of Introtech heavies, and not just because they're optimized energy zombies.
>>98357240>>98357192I started thinking a bit more and honestly the best thing I could do with the Flashman IIC is a fucking what the hell type Dark Age concept, which doesn't work for this challenge, but as a derivation of a simple clan optimisation.Like a Clan optimisation pass it's easy to say why they didn't go with: doesn't fit their mode of warfare, it's built for sustained combat, cavalry mech operations, that's far too fucking sensible. That's Clan Wolverine or Star Adder shit. So it'd be churned out and forgotten or not changed for like two centuries or so.And then once you get to the 3100s do something like this would happen.
>>98358432Do you want to look up if Plasma Cannons need ammo just like the Rifles, or do you take my word that they do?
>>98358432I think some IIC ideas really won't be viable till Dark Age. There's surprisingly little variation in 2848 you can do for Clans unless you go into early Clan model stuff?
>>98359218just drop a heat sink and the ER smalls for some it's fine, it's just spitballin' shit
>>98347171Enforcer IICSkirmisher45 TonsQuirks: Barrel Fist (LA/RA) Fast Reload (LBX10) Improved Cooling Jacket (LBX10)BV 14734,534,513 C-BillsAfter some Davion defectors joined Aleksandr Kerensky on his exodus and brought their Enforcers, themselves newly introduced mechs, with them, the design wasn't changed until the clans had been firmly established. Clan Sea Fox attempted to created a better version of the design to refine it and the result led to the IIC's creation. In the years since it's inception, the Enforcer IIC has been used by Hell's Horses, the cluster munitions of the LBX10 proving effective at dealing with battle armored units, and later on production was restarted by Sea Fox to sell to the Federated Suns to mixed results.
>>98360258Wasn't the Enforcer a shelved SLDF design anyway and they wouldn't technically need Davions to be aware of it?
>>98360532yeah but I thought it'd be a bit more fluffy that some FedSun mechwarriors helped Kerensky out similar to how Lyrans join his side and thus led to the Commando IIC being a thing
>>98347171Thug IICBrawler90 TonsQuirks: RuggedBV 264410,598,960 CbillsDeveloped by Clan Diamond Shark the Thug IIC would, ironically, find itself in competition with the Warhammer once again. Also 10 tons heavier and developed with the improved technology in mind utilizing the improved Endo Steel structures and fourteen and a half tons of Ferro-Fiberous armor for protection. A pair of new Clantech ERPPCs provide its primary source of firepower with no minimum range. The SRM6s of the original were replaced with an array of efficient ER Medium Lasers with more or less the same purpose. 25 Double Heat sinks are almost good enough but not quite adequate, requiring the warrior to have a small amount of caution when firing but the cooling is far superior to the original Thug. It's tough, hits hard, and the warriors like it, especially how dangerous it is even after losing significant portions of the mech. But Merchant Caste doesn't seem to like that it costs more than the Warhammer IIC design and are considering killing the project right here.
Whitworth IICSkirmisher45 TonsQuirks: Rugged 1 point, Weak LegsBV: 1751Cost: 7,994,575 C-billsFor Clan Hells Horses the Whitworth IIC was forwarded as a complete rebuild not of the existing Whitworths but of the Whitworth design itself, bulked up by 5 tons to take full advantage of the mysteriously quickly advancing clan tech and layering up Ferro-Fibrous armour, endosteel structure and an XL 225 engine boosting the mechs movement. Rounding out the design was significantly upping the armament to 6x SRM6s, 2x ER Medium lasers and 2x Flamers. This was rejected for further development largely on the grounds that it was designed for a support role against targets that simply didn't exist any more in the Clan system, and with invasion of the Inner Sphere not looking to happen any time soon, a mech with its strength in anti-vehicle and anti-infantry roles simply wasn't considered viable. This was not aided by Light mech pilots that wanted faster designs, and medium mech pilots wanted more solid striking power at better range, taking advantage of Streak SRM systems. The Whitworth IIC would languish only in design form until Operation Bulldog saw some interest in exploring its viability again due to the mass deployment of Inner Sphere battle armour and vehicles in combat, but even by that point it was seen as a lesser option compared to other potential reworks of in-service mechs and omnipod packages for more modern designs rather than spinning up the foundries for another elderly design.
>>98360803I had a brilliant idea on a second thought. What if we leaned harder into the idea of a Zombie Thug? PPC in the CT, put some SRMs in the arms or side torsos. You can't normally have something as powerful as a PPC in the CT (At least in this era) with inner sphere tech.Plus if it's still a Diamond Shark design Merchant Caste might have a few quirked eyebrows at the idea of intentionally selling a mech that needs constant replacement parts. Imagine you sell a mech with essentially vestigial arms and encourage warriors to block fire with them. It's okay, we'll sell you the parts to replace the arm.
>>98347171Champion IICStriker60 tonsEasy to Pilot, No/Minimal ArmsBV 2,64212,476,160 C-bills>During the early generations after the Exodus, many Clans continued to field examples of the Champion, once ubiquitous among SLDF units. Though piloting these aging 'Mechs was never seen as a particularly glamorous assignment, the warriors of Clan Jade Falcon held it in particular disdain. For the Falcon is meant to soar, and to see a 'Mech so reminiscent of an aerospace fighter shackled to the ground was singularly offensive to their sensibilities. So it was that upon the election of Khan Patricia Bailey in the 2840s, the Jade Falcon scientist caste was ordered to rework the Champion into a new 'Mech that could finally realize its true potential. >What emerged from the Champion IIC program was a 'Mech that boasted a quintet of jump jets, augmenting its already respectable speed with a 150 meter jump capacity. And though it outwardly maintained the armless form factor of its namesake, the Champion IIC mounted a massive gauss rifle as its primary armament, supplemented by an LRM-10 in place of the short ranged missiles of the original. Rounding out its firepower, a pair of lasers in each "wing" pod provided solid medium-range firepower not dependent on ammunition. With 9.5 tons of ferro fibrous armor, the Champion IIC has fair staying power on the field, supported by an anti-missile system to enhance survivability at range.First time using an existing piece of art (MWO Champion) to slop up an illustration, changing the weapons loadout and giving it that TRO art style.
>>98360803>>98360929I love that it's still stupidly sinked, true to the Thug. What if, ok hear me out; what if instead of ER Mediums to replace SRMs... massed ER Smalls? Like, 10 of them. Is that fucking mad or Thug IIC A Budget optionBrawler80 TonsQuirks: RuggedBV 23688,476,140 CbillsA plain upgrade of the Thug at 80 tons with very little in the way of advanced technologies (quite possibly something to be picked up by Clan Smoke Jaguar given their weaker industrial base) removing its ammunition dependency and retaining its massive durability, though by the questionable decision to move to the very short ranged even in ER version Small Lasers, though with each hitting as hard as an Inner Sphere Medium, the potential for a laser shotgun blast of up to 50 damage at point blank range should the ponderous Thug get close enough might well spell the doom of a mech it's been slamming PPC shaped holes into.(Advance down the timeline to post 3060 and just slap 2 Heavy Larges in and a couple of ATM 6s with a ton of standard and a ton of high explosive ammo, strip 2 heat sinks to get a targeting computer and you can still alpha strike whilst only building movement heat and not spending anything on weight saving or an XL engine)
>>98361085>to replace SRMs... massed ER Smalls? It works for the Locust IIC, so why not?
>>98360803That's a Kingfisher C without all the omni parts. A good 'mech to copy though.
>>98347171Hedgehog IICJuggernaut100 Tons22,918,000 C-billsBV 3,006Command Mech, Improved Communications, Improved Sensors, Bad Reputation (Clan), Hard to Pilot, PrototypeTaking note of how an ancient Star League tripod had caused havoc on Burrock supply lines during Operation Klondike, Clan Fire Mandrill decided it would be amusing to attempt their own tripod design as an attempt of mockery of their hated rivals. This concept did not progress very far before rather significant flaws surfaced causing it to be scrapped before seeing battle with another Clan. The Hedgehog IIC is a far cry from the original tripod design, being a slow lumbering 100 ton command mech versus the fast scout it was based off of. On the surface it is considerably well armed and protected, featuring an extensive communication and sensor suite that an Inner Sphere commander would be in full envy of.The problem is that the machine requires the cooperation of two pilots to operate which aside going against most Clan warrior sensibilities, was especially a significant problem for the infamously fractious warriors of Fire Mandrill to overcome. In the first test run the test pilots from rival bloodhouses began fighting over the controls of the machine and started coming to blows inside the cockpit. An attempt was made to create two separate "bubbles" to divide the pilots but the test was quickly aborted once both pilots began trying to override each others controls. The final test before the project was abandoned attempted to see if getting younger warriors still in sibko to work together might produce better results, instead observers were treated to the sight of the cockpit canopies slowly opening and two young girls emerging to fight each other in hand to hand combat on top of the tripod. The mech would be sent for scrapping the following day.
>>98347171Thug IIC 1Sniper40 Tons5,546,293 C-Bills1632 BVOur superior weapons technology has allowed for massive increases in the combat capability of the mighty Thug. Refits of the existing chassis have contended themselves with replacing the outdated weapon systems. However! Our technician caste has developed a new model, capable of the same weapons as the Thug, as well as sufficient ammo and heatsinks, at only half the mass. This redesign leverages the considerable long-ranged direct firepower of the Thug at a fraction of the needed materials, while maintaining the short-ranged missiles when engaging at close quarters proves necessary.
>>98347171We gonna wrap this up? It's been over three days with nearly 20 submissions.
>>98368772Starting to think OP is working for CGL and wanting anons to develop designs for an ilclan recognition guide so he doesn't have to.
>>98369363If he is, I hope he steals my Swordsman so that pile of shit actually gets variants.
>>98369382I wish there were more swordsman variants. Aesthetically I like the mech
>>98369577An upgraded Swordsman would make a phenomenally great militia/corporate security mech for the Republic era. Switching to a LAC5, combine launchers into an MML, upgrade the small laser to a pulse for example, suddenly you got a lot of room to add armor, C.A.S.E. and heatsinks while retaining firepower to deal with raiding bug mechs or crush labor unions.
>>98369639A hyper-flexible mech could be neat, focusing on specialist ammo>Swap SRM and LRM for an MML>LAC 5 with special ammo
>>98369708Yeah that was kind of my idea as well. Only costs 2,805,693 C-Bills dry when I quickly drafted something. I feel this would make a great mook mech as well to face in a Republic era themed campaign/RPG playthrough.
OP here, I forgot to put an end date, but I have been doing 4 days from time of posting so this will close midnight EST tonight. Y'all have been throwing some great ideas up!When I start the vote, I'll also include a straw poll for the next challenge based off the list I have and suggestions from this one. That way we can do both votes at the same time.
Archer IICMiddle boat65 Tons8,078,510 C-Bills2,247 BVClan Hell's Horses have always sought to integrate more combined arms than most of its fell clans.SaKhan Patricia Cobb gave the clans scientist caste a mission to bring a infantry support lance to to clans touman. Group B, lead by Engineer Ashley cane up with the concept of taking an old Star League and bring it up to the new Clan standard.Based upon the Endo stell frame of the ACR-2Rb, the Archer IIC is a 65 ton mech that packs in more firepower than it's predecessor. Armed with four LRM-15s, each connected with an Artemis IV fire control system and 16 reloads per launcher, giving it a 50% increase in middle fire over the ACR-2Rb. For secondary weapons, four ER medium lasers were added. The Archer IIC's speed was not altered as it was seen as effective for infantry support. And 12 tons of standard armor was added, while this is less than it's precessor, this was viewed as acceptable for its role.
>>98369978Maybe this is a boring challenge that's been done before, but what about trying to recreate a Prime loadout of one of the Original 16 within the bounds of 3050s tech, like a Raskshasa or Black Hawk-KU as best as possible. The greatest of these changes was the inclusion of Stealth Armor which was hoped to be a definitive advantage in the depths thanks to the reduced combat range and the fact that the additional cooling provided by the environment would help mitigate the increased heat buildup caused by the system.

You want affordable? We can do that. Underwater? Can Do.So we thought long and hard, how do you do underwater? It sucks down under the sea. It's dark and wet and you can't shoot things with autocannon.Well the first thing that came to mind was to find the most fish-like looking mech going. Unfortunately most of them are light mechs. But then we hit upon a gem, and kept going. And so we present to you the Maelstrom UWU.A side-grade to the Maelstrom 6K. Stripping out it's big expensive XL engine for a standard one, and some other crap it didn't need, lets us upgrade its laser array at the cost of a little speed. The heat issues are going to be much less of a problem underwater, so it gets back the ER PPC and LL of the 6E version. But it overall nets us the capabilities required whilst still retaining that classic high energy ranged arsenal and a degree of mobility. We even threw in a ferro-fibrous armour upgrade. We solved the fighting in the dark problem by adding some big ol' search lights, and keeping its active probe. And as a bonus for utility, we crammed in a little extending grabby hand on the left arm. Now, the Maelstrom isn't a design that's really suitable for a full head ejection system, so we very much suggest the pilots disable the auto eject function, and instead use the provided cargo space for appropriate survival and escape equipment. It's the Maelstrom you know and love; a little slower, surprisingly cheaper, a lot more durable, somewhat soaked, but as they say: Wetter Is Better.

Four tons of CASE-protected ammunition allow these high-mounted launchers excellent endurance and the option to select multiple special payloads, while preserving the 'mech's ability to submerge and deny the enemy success should a side torso be lost. Two SRT-4s set in the legs allow the SCUBArcher to engage other submerged threats or shore patrol units aiming to disrupt its coastal bombardment. Four ER Medium Lasers split between the arms and the rear center torso serve the same purpose. This heavy armament is made possible by utilizing both Endo-Steel structure and Light Ferro-Fibrous armor. While the SCUBArcher is not as heavily clad as previous models, the water it operates in serves as an inexhaustible supply of cover. And should the 'mech be critically damaged despite all precautions, the valuable specialist mechwarrior can be preserved thanks to the included Full-Head Ejection System.Mass refits can begin immediately, and we have taken the liberty to prepare a retooling program for the Earthworks Limited production line on Tikonov upon its inevitable return to the Capellan fold.>Bonus challenge suggestioncreate a companion 'mech to another, be it a canon design or one of ours. Taking the existing Ti Ts’ang we were able to modify it for amphibious warfare with minimal adjustments and reduction to firepower. The first change involved reducing the engine size which has caused a slight reduction in speed but in its place we were able to install mechanical jump boosters allowing this machine to not only fight underwater but soar out of the water and surprise our enemies! We have had to reduce the number of medium lasers by two and make them standard models and also used standard heatsinks but this allows for a better heat management curve to take full advantage of the triple strength myomer system. Expected to fight near shorelines we believe this mech will be able to deliver a killing blow before being able to disappear back into the depths ready to strike again!slightly fucked up the RS last time

Taking advantage of the new lightweight fusion engines the Fuzhu is designed for hit and run attacks on enemy forces being able to appear from under the waves to harass targets before being able to quickly retreat. To aid mobility we have installed a rather unique feature that I assure you will most appreciate. As you may be aware coastal terrain can prove quite challenge even for most battlemechs to get in and out of. So to allow for maximum ground clearance we have installed a track system on each leg allowing the Fuzhu to navigate even the most challenging of terrain. Each Fuzhu has been built using the finest Won Ton components giving this machine superb reliability and as only these parts can be found in our territory in the unlikely event one of our machines is captured our enemies will have no luck maintaining it.

To this end we will need to find a way to discretely gather intel. Maskirovka has proposed the deployment of covert observation mechs but the only mechs currently being allowed on planet are industrial designs. This has given our engineers an idea, by disguising a surveillance mech as an underwater mining platform we can deploy a scouting force on Carver V in preparation for a coming invasion. On the surface the Wuzhiqi appears as a premium model underwater mining mech complete with a full head ejection system as an added safety feature. Armed only with a single "mining" laser the purpose of this design is not to engage enemies but to map out the water routes on the planet. To this end we have incorporated visual design elements to help hide the true function of this mech. The front dumper is used to hide a sensor dispenser, the reconnaissance camera is tucked alongside the head spotlight, a cargo pod is used to cover up the NARC launcher which is meant for marking targets on land, and the communications equipment on the right side visually resembles an additional cargo pod where an ECM helps provide additional shielding from unwanted sensor scans. Great care has been put into the manipulators of this mech so it an give the appearance of performing delicate construction work to any would be observer. These features do come at a cost however. While the Wuzhiqi is more than capable of lasting several weeks underwater the significant amount of equipment installed has made the cockpit a rather tight fit therefore we highly recommend that nobody related to the Vong bloodline pilots this design. Overall though we believe this will be a great asset to Maskirovka.

>>98394507It does make a bit of sense desu to allow it. Some of the tech I've looked at anyway a lot of stuff in the 3060s that is classed as experimental its not exactly being described as inaccessible, i.e. if you know where to look you can access it rather than it being only seen in a testing facility. Some of it even is described as being in field testing. If it were up to me I'd say any experimental tech like X-Pulses would be a go for the 3060s especially a mech of this nature but I'd have said no for the 3050s. I'll leave it up to OP to decide though.>>98394532Has the opposite problem. Classes UMU as experimental tech in 3066 among a few other things that are advanced.
>>98394212>MASS is also experimental up till 3082?...goddamnit, is this Tactical Operations? It's gotta be Tactical Operations, right? Because even though I have MegaMek set to Inner Sphere - Advanced and not Inner Sphere - Experimental, I was checking the various things to make sure it actually existed, and when I had glanced at the first link where it was officially introduced in the Solaris VII book, that book was explicitly set in 3067 where the description sound like it probably predated that by a few years.Fucking hell man, I thought I had done enough searching this time to avoid that. Post-Clan Invasion to Jihad is a cursed time period to build 'mechs in MegaMekLabs with.
>>98395038Fuck it we're going back to Maximum Tech. Fuck Tac Ops!
OP here, As always the Tactical Operations: Alternative Eras is what I default to. That being said Meklab is a bit off on some things. MASS does show up in advanced on 3066, even if TO:AE has it as a FS prototype in 48 and only in production for FS in 83.I am gonna go with Meklabs on this one as while it's not in mass production, it's not some unknown tech.Jump.boosters do not come into general production into 3090 however. So those are out
>>98395555Yeah doesn't help that Tac Ops is being contradictory as I was caught out at the production date quoted in Advanced Units & Equipment making it seem like it was already widely around, observe this example! Interestingly I did have a look in the old Maximum Tech book and its considered experimental tech for 3060s but then that also gave IS access to things like Improved Jump Jets pre 3070 so I am wondering if a lot of the confusion as far as MegaMekLab is concerned is due to holdovers from old sourcebooks?

I feel like you could probably do a fun and cheeky c3 lance around this. Sadly this falls outside of tonnage and cost perimeters. A shame, because the Sha Yu seems fun.
>>98399070Sha Yu is an excellent little 40 tonner. Frankly to make close to what you are doing you could just take the SYU-4B and drop a couple of lasers. In fact if you just dropped the ER mediums and a medium pulse from that design you more or less get that loadout with max UMU
>>98398957yeah so you can't fit the ERML'sthe design is perfect other than that
>>98399125That is more or less what I did. Sadly I didnt pay attention to the tonnage and cost perimeters until after I had tinkered with this (and ran a few megamek games to test it).I dont feel like the gear adds a terrible lot in underwater operations, but as something that probes beachheads and spots for surfaced LRMs before fading back into the water, it works. The testbed map for this seemed to vibe with that concept.
>>98388925>>98399070You know what fuck it here is what I came up with. 10,638,133 C-bills with full head ejection system. OP here, I got busy and Forgot I changed the close date to 3 days. I'll close it up and start voting when I get home. Sorry all.
Going to say I didn't enjoy this challenge as much as the other ones and I blame solely Tac Ops for this. Each time I thought of something that might have been interesting to try I was thwarted by a crucial bit of equipment being experimental rather than advanced tech even when the fluff I read up on said equipment made it sound like it was already in production. I would go as far to say I think Tac Ops has seriously fucked up dates for certain equipment because there are some weapon systems in particular that it claims are experimental but they are clearly not especially when there are frontline units actively using them.
>>98400719I'll have to be more careful in the future with these kind of limited challenges

If we were to do 14 maybe could do something involving 40 ton mechs as those often get a bad rep as a cursed weight especially with introtech but I myself think its a highly underrated tonnage. Thoughts on this?
>>9840114040 ton is a nice weight to work around. I'd be more up for either 6 or 5 though. 2 would also be fun but a bit restrictive. 8, maybe, but I already did one for the Urbie challenge so I'm personally good on that.
>>98401140I'm in favor of>14: something with specific requirementswhich could be either tonnage, mission profile, or making a specific piece of equipment (be it weapon or other) work.Solaris 'mech is technically a specific permutation of that particular challenge.
I can make another poll if folks like. You can even do multiple choice voting
I think the problem here is we need to flesh a few of the suggestions a bit more before deciding. IS Omni or combat vehicle for example is pretty much self explanatory but something with specific requirements or with the Clans is far too vague a suggestion as it could mean anything.
>>98401265I know it's more work, but I prefer to keep it in-thread. Hitting a button on strawpoll is just not the same as reasoning and shooting the shit in here.
>>98401323I am good with that. >>98401312I agree they need flushed out a bit more. It's one reason I give years and such. I like a bit more focus in the builds like we did with the IIC challage, but it can backfire like it did on the current one where I made it a bit too limited I think.Something with a specific requirement, we have done a few times. It's just every broad and always needs pared down.Whatever folks pic I'll try to give it some requirements and not wide open.
>>98398517>I do like how anons thought process has gone from a space of a day to "How do we stealthily assault this planet?" to "How do we blow up this planet?"If no witness are left alive, how can they tell you were there?
>>98401351Some are already pretty restrictive like the C3 company command mech, that's already 10 tons of weight dedicated to C3 masters which anons would have to work around with just 3051 tech.Raven 3L contest I would say each mech must have ECM and BAP plus a TAG and/or NARC with bonus points for maybe trying to match the price tag?Age of War heavy/assault could have a restriction on standard parts but nothing on primitive to keep things interesting?Police mech must have a non lethal takedown option?Trying to think of interesting restrictions for others that aren't too overly restrictive.
>>98401140>7: Ilkhan era clan designkinda like this depending on the specifics, a standard battlemech and not an omni would be nice as an omni would inevitably be stale
>>98401891Could mandate x tons of non-Heat Sink / Jump Jet fixed equipment per y tonnage to get some more diversity.
There was also a suggestion of copying a clan Omni with IS tech. Of the ones listed so far, 2,7 and 15 are my favs.On the ilkhan era, there is a ton to work with. It can be limited by size, faction or even tech. There are some wild things in that era.
>>98401140I tend to like the more open ideas I'd probably lean towards 2, 14, or 16. I think if we do the something specific we could do some sort of random generation>Roll 1d4 to determine weight class (light, medium, heavy, assault)>Roll 1d8 to determine role (Ambush, Brawl, Juggernaut, missile boat, scout, skirmish, sniper, striker)>Roll 1d12 to determine era (Age of War, SL, Early Succ, Lostech, Late Succ, Clan invasion, civil war, jihad, early republic, late republic, dark age, ilclan)>Roll 1d3 to determine tech if applicable (IS, Clan, Mixed)

>>98404635As anon said megameklab has got it. Just not sure how good it is personally.
>>98404946I'll add it, but I want to play around with it before we do that to make sure we can. Looks like megameklab 0.51.00 can do it and you can even port over the exact loadout of each mech part which is neat. Think that could be a basis of a challenge, you can't customise the loadout except armor or heatsinks and have to use parts from existing mechs only.
>>98405332I'll add 19 to >>98401171 and probably use one if the challenge is compatible. It's a neat little middleground between Battles and Omnis narratively, even if I'm sure it's dogshit in practice.
>>98405332I'd vote 7, 5, and 16 in that order. Would be nice to try out eras or buuld styles not normally explored. Since 3050 the Draconis Combine has utilized its C3 network. Today that technology is common in the Inner sphere l, with C3Slaves a common refit. However mechs with C3 masters are uncommon and command mechs built to run a company wide network are near mythic ideas. That is what your company has thrown its hat in to do, fill in this glaring hole and make loads of C-Bills selling it as a must have design.>>Requirements Year: 3065Tech Base: ISTech level: Standard Size: heavy or assault Required equipment: At least two C3 master units >>Notes: I moved this to 3065 to try and avoid some mech lab issues. The base for this mech was chosen to be the venerable Charger, its high mobility allowing it to keep up with lighter striker lances that other assault mechs would struggle to.The Charger CGR-3C utilizes three C3 computers, two of them C3 masters and one a C3 slave allowing it to act as a company or battalion command mech (master to the lances or companies below it, and slave to the battalion or regimental commander). With so much weight taken up by its power plant and engines numerous compromises had to be made, the CGR-3C utilizing both endosteel and light ferro-fibrous, while its only armament is a pair of ER large lasers. As a benefit however its powerful XL fusion engine allows it to fit 14 double heat sinks allowing it to remain cool even when maneuvering and firing while still being protected by 12.5 tons of light ferro-fibrous armor, superior protection to most Victor variants. The Charger CGR-3C was quickly adopted by the DCMS first utilized as part of lances of Charger CGR-Cs unsurprisingly but later also added to lances of lighter mechs and scout mechs including Jenners, Sentinels, Kintaros, and Grand Dragons. Although underarmed for its size it is still a potentially lethal opponent and can safely rely on its lancemates to protect it as it uses its ER large lasers.

The first reason for such a protracted development cycle was the very nature of installing the requested C3 Master systems. While one system proved simple enough to include, installing two required significant rework of the internals of the Grand Dragon and this lead to several issues with early prototypes experiencing network failures as the two devices failed to connect to one another and brought the whole network down. This was eventually resolved by the use of a new endo-steel frame and a slight reduction in speed, a benefit of which armor was improved. The second delay was a more peculiar setback caused by the experiences of a field tested prototype during Operation Bulldog. During a battle against the Smoke Jaguars a Tai-Sho happened to be piloting one of the early models when he stumbled into a Cauldron-Born that had been powered down waiting to ambush. Reacting quickly he uprooted a tree trunk and quickly struck the Jaguar mech repeatedly on the head knocking the pilot unconscious before it could power up. The Tai-Sho then proceeded to use this makeshift club as a baton to direct his troops throughout the campaign and made a remark that he wished it had been a sword instead. This statement ended up causing further delays in development as designers hurried back to the drawing board to try and work out how to incorporate the wishes of the Tai-Sho leading to the final version of the company commander Grand Dragon model you see before you today, now capable of using a sword to inspire and direct the troops under its command.
>>98410282Fair enough. Things are already complicated enough as they are without the new Core Rulebook moving a lot of advanced tech to standard making it even harder to follow what is what.I am though a little disappointed that we have to build a heavy or assault for this as would be funny to be build a commander light mech.

Taking the best lessons of command mechs prior, and derived from the already in-production Mauler's structure and engine; this machine comes in durable, with no need of ammunition, and well protected against assailants that might ambush it. A diverse armament needs to be managed well though ideally its heat sinks will not be taxed as its pilot merely uses its ERPPC to contribute at range, with the sword being largely there to channel the commander's samurai spirit in directing and motivate units. Twin Anti missile systems with a ton of ammo provide a limited but useful additional defence against incoming barrages, and an ECM system is included for the essential ECCM feature to counter network disruption.Standard components, and shared components with various existing serving mechs in the Combine help to keep costs down, making maintenance and repairs easier as readiness is of utmost importance for the field commander. A full head ejection system was included for helping to protect the valuable command asset piloting the mech, allowing them an opportunity to explain the loss of their mech before potentially losing their own head.

The FLC-8R, developed in 3055, was designed and built using the bleeding edge of known technology at the time, and it ran into many delays and setbacks, pushing back production and keeping their numbers low for years. With current needs for the FC forces including compensating for heavy losses among the officer class and wanting tighter coordination between larger formations during maneuvers, and with the consideration that the Falconer is a modern and cutting edge Mech on its own right, the FLC-9R was chosen as the baseline Mech for a new design.Integral to the setup are the dual C3 Master Computers, one housed in either side torso. The FLC-10C drops the Gauss Rifle and three of the medium lasers inherent in the base FLC-9R model, picking up an LRM-10 with two tons of ammo along with an anti-missile system with a ton of ammo, with all of the ammo being set in CASE in case of unplanned ignition. The torso that houses the ammunition is also up-armored in order to further extend the lifespan of the platform. With a top speed approaching 80 km/h and jump jets capable of making 50 km/h, this mobile HQ will be able to outrun anything that it cannot take out at its own leisure.F-C has tested the FLC-10C in not only field exercises but in several low-intensity conflicts and had mixed results; The inexperience of the troops with implementing C3 technology and other factors have met with only limited successes thus far. Compounding these issues is the rarity of a field-ready FLC-10C; With the Federated Commonwealth only producing 6-10 FLC-9R's per year and the intricacies of working with new technology the FLC-10C's production numbers are low.

And yet more importantly, the commander must remain alive and active with their 'mech maintaining similar endurance upon the Battlefield to maintain the C3 network at the choke point of the C3 Master system.Developed in tandem with the Word of Blake by the Second Star League Defense Forces after the Third Whitting Conference, the Immortal IM-1 is a 'Mech designed to be as hard as possible to take down, reaching the maximum possible level of internal structural strength by available technologies and having [305 of 307 points] for its external armor. The sheer survivability was desired due to it being deemed a critical chokepoint as its twin C3 Master Computers would allow for Company level command via one dedicated to controlling various lower level C3 Masters and one to its personal command squad, and a C3 Slave unit was added in the theory it could in turn be commanded by a Battallion or higher level Commander. Defensive measures in an AMS, rare Angel ECM suite, and A-Pods further enhance these defenses. The Bloodhound Probe uses some further [Improved Sensors] adjustments to push its range to 300 meters, and two additional tons of Comms Equipment to the 'Mech standard 1 ton gives it [+1 Initiative] and further [Improved Comms] to let it pierce Ghost Targets and access Satellite Uplinks at near all times. The dissolution of the Second Star League at the Fourth Whitting Conference and would bring an end to the project, as the Second SLDF no longer existed and it lacked integration with the the Word of Blake C3i systems.

[there's conflicting information about some of the availability and tech levels here, but I deferred to MML]Raijin RJN-C3Weight: 85 tonsCost: 24,450,618 c-billsBV: 1,746Role: C&C and fire supportQuirks: Command Mech, Distracting, Improved Communications, Difficult to Maintain, Non-Standard Parts, UnbalancedIn its main role as a C&C battlemech the RJN-C3 mounts two C3 master units, a command console, an Angel ECM suite and a state-of-the-art satellite uplink, giving it potent networking, ECCM and command capabilities; defensively, it mounts a prototype laser AMS based on one "obtained" from the Federated Suns and has a single flamer that serves as both an efficient way to create smokescreens and a last-ditch weapon against foes at point-blank range. Offensively, and the thing that is always noticed first by anyone seeing the RJN-C3 for the first time, the right torso and right arm are replaced by a gargantuan Thumper artillery piece. While of little value at close range and underwhelming in along range direct fire role, the RJN-3 was always intended to be a company-level asset - the combination of a C3 network and Copperhead shells allow linked units equipped with TAG to call in accurate indirect fire at massive ranges while FASCAM shells allow the RJN-C3 to direct the flow of battle by remotely laying mines. All variants of Thumper shells are, of course, available and used by the RJN-C3 as the situation warrants but the standard loadout consists of one ton each of Copperhead and FASCAM shells.(1/2)
>>98421427Originally onceived in 2049 as a proof-of-concept command refit of the venerable Thunderbolt, the massive weight and bulk of production C3 units forced the RJN-C3 back to the drawing board. After the weight, configuration and integration of the CE units were addressed, the expense, combat value and role of the RJN-3C versus the level of protection it offered became contentious following the Combine's bitter first-hand experience with Clan weaponry. The debate was ultimately resolved on the design team by increasing the size of the 'mech, changing the armor type to reflective and changing the gyro and engine to XL and light versions respectively in the name of saving as much weight as possible for armor as well as an endo-steel frame. In 3060 it was pending final approval when the design team was ordered to add artillery support capabilities and another C3 master unit, which necessitated another major redesign. This was ultimately accomplished, but the unconventional layout necessitated by the addition of the Thumper and the bulk of multiple C3 master units led to the endo-steel frame being removed and everything else being crammed in wherever it fit - complete with a profusion of bespoke parts to facilitate this. As the RJN-C3 was never intended to be produced in significant numbers this was deemed acceptable by the DCMS Procurement Department and the design entered full production, but the reputation of the RJN-C3 is so dismal among technicians that the arrival of one to a new garrison is generally heralded by an edict indefinitely suspending leave and retirements.
>>98421427>>98421443Wouldn't this cause a little confusion?
I am kind of liking this challenge because its putting me in mind to hunt for mechs that fill a specific niche you thought there would be more of but there isn't if that makes any sense? So something like the Raven 3L is basically an EWAR mech and there is a few other such mechs post 3050 especially omni configs but I have noticed that such a mech type is completely lacking for 2750 outside a Hussar variant which seems odd as you'd think the Star League would have invested in such a concept. Gives me an idea for a possible challenge in the future.I am also mad that I can't submit pic related. 23,413,440 C-bill command mech capable of bringing its own artillery support to a C3 company and can't field it cause its considered advanced tech despite it all easily being in production for 3050.
>>98423763Unless the lore has changed, tripod battlemechs didn't become something "easy" to produce until the Republic era
>>98424175Tripods never get that status, same with Arrow IV despite the latter being considered one of the most common artillery types around and back in full scale production by the late 3040's. Its the whole mixing of rules with tech levels that make things a confusing ass mess so you have situations where you got weapons and equipment that are considered standard tech like C3 but its faction exclusive till 3065 so people think its experimental tech but not actually, not helped by the fact that tools like megameklab tends to rope in prototype equipment even if you apply the filters that is supposed to stop that.Actually since on rant mode now, have you fags checked Interstellar Ops Alt Eras page 27? The definitions are so ambiguous its like they are deliberately trying to make things confusing as possible. The in production term literally does state this include items that have been approved for manufacture but are proprietary to the producing factions, so that basically means it'll include equipment that is considered common within said faction but because no other faction can easily access it they'll flag it as rare if its not eventually widespread adopted. Which then raises more questions why haven't they made a consistent rule that everything under that category forms advanced tech then?

>>98410129Name: Quickdraw QKD-3CMWeight: 60 TonsCost: 15,002,560 C-BillsBV: 1577Role: SkirmisherQuickdraws. A name widely considered synonymous with overheating. Poor build quality. Walking crap. Ankles as brittle as a supermodel strutting the catwalk with 10 inch heels. More importantly, easily purchased on the secondary market. The Quickdraw QKD-3CM was born from the gutted, scrapped husks of dozens of Succession Wars soldiers shuffled off to what they thought would be their final reward. Its purpose is simple: To keep your vulnerable Master Computers away from the enemy, and to repel lighter raiders which might attempt headhunter missions. The primary variant is more expensive, deploying a Light Fusion engine to expand the electronics package, adding a Beagle Active Probe and a Guardian ECM suite to help prevent ambushes and disruptions to the C3 network in the field. A more budget variant exists for buyers expecting to fight less technologically advanced enemies, shrinking down the cockpit and dropping both EWAR assemblies, saving enough tonnage to downgrade to the same bog standard fusion engine powering Quickdraws since their debut in 2779. Like its predecessors, the -3CM is geared towards close combat, using fists, feet, DFAs and a small but accurate battery of ER Medium Lasers with an integrated targeting computer. Unlike its predecessors, its heat management is relatively trivial and its armor isn't paper thin, significantly increasing the odds of the C3 Master units returning to base after a mission. In a pinch, the -3CM can serve as its own C3 spotter, using those 150 meters of jump capacity to enter close combat, but in general is best served on top of a small hill, ready to leap for safety. With its excellent mobility, this Quickdraw variant makes a good screening unit to protect the long range Mechs using the C3 network. It's much harder to rush down a Catapult K4 with one of these -3CM's running blocker.

For the Marian Hegemony however, a different idea was envisaged. Though the Omni equipment would have been like magic to a Succession Wars era technician, the payload of their new, relatively modest Decurion is anything but. In each of its variants, save perhaps the Zeta, it uses nothing but standard internals and vintage weaponry. In so doing, it was hoped that a home-grown machine might actually find success on the domestic and export market alike, bring prestige to the Hegemony, and unify their internal logistics chains. Accordingly, many of its variants imitate other pre-3025 machines. The chassis mounts full armor for a 40 ton machine, and with 14 tons of free space can deploy virtually all 3025 era weaponry save for an Autocannon 20. Software has even been included for "jailbreaking" Decurions in the export models, allowing prospective buyers to program their own Omni-variants.The most expensive variant is just under 4 million C-bills, they can be repaired with the crudest of equipment and the most unskilled of technicians, and with a top speed of 86 kph, the Decurion can at least keep pace with the average Spheroid lance fairly effectively. It is not a machine meant for heavy combat, this a rank-and-file trooper to the very core, and should be purchased as such. And in bulk.
>>98436121>>98436025Decurion Variants:The Prime is like a smaller Centurion, as might be expected from the name. Simple, multirole, a few lasers, a small launcher and a cut-down autocannon. One can be inserted into almost any force. Alpha is much like the Valkyrie, sporting a decently well supplied, decently large missile pod, along with jump jets to get into position. Beta is primarily used for deploying alternate munitions types when needed, using the tonnage saved by swapping the AC5 for a Large Laser in order to mount an SRM 4 launcher. It would be loosely comparable to the Shadow Hawk in intended role.Gamma doubles down on the energy weapons, mounting a simple, Crab-like payload of two Large Lasers and some extra heat sinks. Some have criticized their installment within pistol mounts in the arms, others enjoy the expanded firing arcs. Delta is an evolution of Gamma, carrying a single PPC, a token small laser for emotional support, a few extra sinks and most importantly, jump jets. This enhanced maneuverability has rendered Delta one of the most popular Decurions, a bit like the Panther.Epsilon, following Delta's success, went the opposite direction. Four medium lasers, brawling fists, jump jets and excellent heat management even with single heat sinks, lends itself well to skirmishing. In many regards, this is akin to a tougher, slightly slower Jenner JR7-F.Finally, Zeta is the exception to the rule. It is the only variant to use what would not be considered common technology in 3025, sporting a frankly obscene TWENTY rocket Launcher 10 racks in the torsos, alongside a couple more (woefully inadequate) sinks and a pair of Medium Lasers to use while maneuvering into position. Zeta is a weapon of last resort, a variant intended specifically to use worn-out Decurions for one last blaze of glory in defense of the state. Many speculate that the idea for this came from observing Taurian mentalities, though no direct link has ever been proven.

Prototypes first rolled off the production lines in 3067 but the start of the Jihad forced the project to be shelved and the existing prototypes were quickly destroyed in combat. Never losing the blueprints, Coventry Metal Works saw the opportunity with the rapid rearmament during the Dark Age to quickly offer up an adaptable scout and raider design that seemed ideally suited to the nature of warfare taking place so have decided to resurrect the omni Stiletto and offer it for sale. The STO-5O is based off the STO-4B and is designed for raiding work. While some pilots lament the lack of anti-infantry weaponry this configuration is more than adequate for hit and run attacks against hardened targets. The STO-5OA is inspired by unofficial field refits of the STO-4A during the FedCom Civil War. Stripping off all the weapons for SRMs and replacing the ECM with BAP to find hidden targets, the 5OA configuration is often outfitted with inferno warheads and thanks to the multi-trac, is highly specialised in fighting groups of infantry, battle armor and even vehicles. The STO-5OB is intended as a raider configuration but one more designed to work alongside as well as hunt battle armor. The four ER medium lasers give it some punch while the LRM gives it some ability to harass at range but also provide smoke to help mask their approach as well as cover friendly forces.

It was therefore a surprise when members of Clan Sea Fox took an interest in the company and funnelling resources to the development team without any oversight. What had caught the Clanners eyes was the possibility of a promising fast new omnimech incorporating advanced safety features, weight saving technology and a triple-strength-myomer system that they could obtain exclusive distribution rights to. The resulting product ended up being a hulking monstrosity of a machine that was over budget and caused a hernia to Clan observers. The JO-T1O was the first configuration to be shown to Sea Fox delegation and while taken aback by the use of a hatchet concluded there was potential in a close quarters configuration and recommended a ranged configuration as well. The Heavy PPC on the JO-T1OA was a promising start but the Sea Foxes were puzzled not only by the continued use of the hatchet but of including several ER Flamers. A suggestion was made to develop a configuration without the use of a hatchet. The JO-T1OB made it evident they hadn't been clear enough. This caused a meltdown in the delegation who demanded they make a configuration without a melee weapon for fighting other mechs.A Trial of Grievance was therefore issued when they saw the JO-T1OC.Clan Sea Fox has not shown any further interest in joint IS omnimech development ventures recently.

The engineers all gathered round in admiration of their handywork before taking out their own personal devices with one of them commenting that he was logged into MercNet and saw various discussions about groups who would kill for such a design these days. Debate thus began to erupt around what other configurations they would have considered back in the day. After another round of drinks the impromptu design committee decided that they would have most definitely come up with a close range fighter that would have been perfectly at home in the city battles of the FedCom Civil War. Then one of the engineers asked as he got up to get another round what if they made something today? After several rounds of vigorous drinking the engineers came up with a heavy scout configuration able to seek and destroy targets or paint them for artillery strikes. Agreed that this would be a sensible unit for the current conflict the engineers saved their work, staggered out their chairs and shook hands agreeing to meet again next month. If you're a Hunchback Pilot, well, statistically you're probably some kind of Fun. Anyway here in this shit time one of the biggest threats is annoyingly large amounts of battle armour and infantry everywhere and one of the single best ways to deal with those little bastards is not to meet them on their own terms but over-match them.Appropriately the B model is armed with a Sniper Cannon with 20 rounds of ammunition and Four ER Medium Lasers to spread the hurt to the little bastards. That'll fuck 'em up.The C model is simple to remember, think C for C3. It's here to slot into your C3 network lance and provide a real nasty amount of explosive support with an Apollo guided MRM 40 to saturation fire the fuck out of some poor bastards. It's got ECM on it too because you'd be mad to not have ECM on a C3 mech now. The D model was based on the thought of hey, was if you wanted to AC/20 some cunt but they were all the way over there? So we crammed in a Thunderbolt 20 system. You don't see one of those every day. Maybe there's a reason for that but what the hell, 12 rounds of ammo should see it through, just don't point it at anything with an AMS ok?The E model is where we got a little fruity, because we had to demonstrate there's more to the Hunchback frame than just a big boom. This one is independent of an ammo supply, possibly heretical but we had to prove a point. Three Re-Engineered medium lasers and a Snub Nose PPC coupled with 5 jump jets and a bundle of extra heat sinks makes this version a nightmare for all those pricks out there stumbling around slowly with their hardened armour. Not so hard now eh. At about or under 10 Mil on the market the Honch is definitely more expensive than a regular old Hunchie, but she's safer, she's faster, she's easier to fuck about with. Do it.

Taking the original chassis as a starting point the mass has been increased by 10 tons and armor increased making this a more sturdy design. While the iconic battlefists had to be removed as part of the omni conversion process we have incorporated DHS technology making this a far cooler design than the original. During design and development we found that it was easier to retain the arm lasers when adjusting configurations therefore they were upgraded to ER models and form an integral part of the design. The first configuration is a simple update of the classic. A large LBX autocannon gives this juggernaut significant up and close personal firepower and the lasers provide adequate backup. One addition that has been included that some pilots may appreciation are jump jets which allows this to finally become a mobile city fighter. The second configuration is based on a popular swayback variant built around providing missile support. A pair of MML launchers give this configuration a lot of adaptability and when combined with the extra lasers offer significant punch up close. The third is based on the most popular swayback variant. An all energy configuration armed with a heavy battery of medium pulse lasers give it highly accurate firepower at close range while an extra 9 heatsinks help meet the heat demands. Each configuration is designed to support and transport BA, utilizing a specialty gyro especially adept at maneuvering with their extra weight on the Mech's frame even while using its MASC. Most also carry consumable modules within their compact pods. The base configuration is its most traditional, supporting a brace of Medium Lasers with anti-personnel pulse models. These conventional armaments are supported by an anti-armor laser and chaff launcher. In the A configuration, a Partial Wing allows the Kestrel to harass its targets until given an opportune moment to discharge its capacitor-enhanced Snubnose PPC. A pair of single shot SRM launchers allow the 'Mech to deploy smoke in case of limited cover.Configuration B mounts a Supercharger to further enhance ground speed, allowing the Kestrel to rapidly reposition to where it can most effectively employ its MMLs. An M-Pod is mounted to provide an additional knockout punch against priority targets.Although vulnerable in protracted combat, the C configuration is equipped for defensive operations, where the limited ammunition for its Thunderbolt launcher can be more easily replenished. In case it is unable to resupply, the secondary lasers are upgraded to ER models.Drawing on other proven designs, the D pods utilize an array of 10 lasers as a primary weapon. Two coolant pods allow for extended fire, while two M-Pods intensify its opening salvo.

A radical BattleMech built for a radical era, the Duelist had its skeptics, but for those with the courage and skill to wield it, they found no finer substitute. Today, we stand in another radical era, an into it we bring the Duelist OmniMech.By utilizing the most advanced weight-saving technology of our era, the DLS-O is built around two revolutionary technologies that truly bring the Duelist concept into the modern age: the Improved Jump Jet and the Radical Heat Sink System, with 19 tons of pod space to spare. In the basic -O configuration, we have perfected the original design goal of the Duelist: to be the lightest, most nimble 'Mech in the Inner Sphere to mount twin ERPPCs. Faster, with 50% better heat management, and mounting a Targeting Computer to fully leverage its long-range capabilities. If the -O is the DLS-1T as it wanted to be, then the -OA is the perfection of the original Duelist as it was: a long-range skirmisher with a terrifying close-range backup. Trading the PPCs for ER Large Lasers, the -OA also carriers a brace of Variable Speed Small Pulse Lasers for when the time comes to jump into point-blank range. The DLS-OB leverages the improved mobility of the Improved Jump Jet to function as a dedicated close-range brawler, with Snub-Nose PPCs, X-Pulse Lasers and ER Flamers for sustained action up close. The -OC is a simple modification of the -O, trading the targeting computer for a boosted C3 Computer and extra heat sink, allowing for even greater accuracy at range as part of a C3-enabled lance.
>>98447562Finally, while strictly outside the bounds of the contract requirements, we have taken the liberty of designing the -OT, a refit for mounting Clan-spec PPCs, boosted by Capacitors for a truly terrifying long-range output.90 years ago, the Duelist leveled the playing field with the Clans. Today, we are proud to re-introduce it to an Inner Sphere once again marching into an uncertain future.
