>new player joins our D&D game
>nice guy, very nerdy, pretty imaginative
>during a break starts talking about the occult aspects of D&D
>the "real" occult aspects of D&D
>how the game aspect is just the surface, and that there's a deeper realm of existence and awareness that people have been exploring since the 70's
>he begins to explain ideas like astral projection and self-induced alternate states of consciousness and how the best way to play is communally on an alternate plane of existence
>he seems to be dead serious
>spends the rest of the game in a bizarre pseudo-method acting state

Really curious what he'd have done if his character had died.
>>
he would have joined the witches who astral projected to fight Allah but got wrecked by him

Classic D&Dtard.

I dont understand how these people fall for /x/ shit so readily. as a teenager i read tons of books on occultism, i learnt how to pronounce words in ancient languages, and did tons of rituals and nothing physical ever happened. It can only happen when you induce visions or dreams in yourself, which is mental and not physical.

However even with all /x/ stuff aside, how stupid do you have to be to think dnd of all fucking things has an occult element. Might as well say world of warcraft has occult elements.

Allah is indeed alone the mighty one.

I knew a few people like that.

One of them was a really troubled dude who was close to 300lbs but always played lithe elven wizards, and he would get really, really intense during games. He treated his characters like they were fursonas, like his real body was a cage and that his greatest wish in the entire world was to just live in a fantasy land as an elf. He would frequently talk about spells and magic as if they were real things, and tried to get us to perform rituals with him. The last I heard about him was several years ago when he showed up at our DM's house, essentially forced him to run a one-on-one game for him, and had a schizophrenic episode where during an tense moment he tried physically attacking the DM but tripped over himself and fell to the ground where he started to cry because he had pulled a muscle somewhere and couldn't stand up. The DM was trying to tell this story like it was an emotional horror story, but everyone listening was really fighting their hardest not to make jokes about it.

No idea what happened to him after that, but I do hope that he got better and learned a more balanced approach towards playing pretend. My DM actually felt really guilty about the whole thing, like he was some sort of enabler and that we should have had some sort of intervention about his behavior, but to be fair there's other people we play with who have similar levels of "intensity" when it comes to games and they've largely been fine. Oddly, the only guy I know who had a similar mental breakdown was on the opposite end of the spectrum, the kind of guy who doesn't care at all about the story or the characters and just cared about the rules and winning, and he got blacklisted from playing RPGs in our area for attacking his GM when he refused to agree with a rule in some book.

Was his character’s name Blackleaf, by any chance?

It's no less "real" than any other occult stuff, just mystical-looking stuff filtered through people pretending they know a hell of a lot more than they actually do.

Looking at all the most famous "occultists" reveals a list of plagiarists, charlatans, and willing dupes who tried passing off invented nonsense built on poor research at best as if it were ancient knowledge. The best part is that in this age where international communication and scholarship has tremendously improved, we get a much clearer picture of just how pathetic occultists like Blavatsky and Crowley were in regards to their knowledge of the foreign and ancient cultures they were pretending to be experts on.

It sounds like it's fun.

Also drugs are usually involved.

Even regular people perform weird rituals while drinking. Whether its toasting or weird shots stuff.

>Getting wrecked by YHVH
Oh please, killing YHVH is like a rite of passage, like killing Hitler with a time machine. The guy's power is all about perspective, once you comprehend hindu deities he's a fucking pushover.

Nah here's the trick: Find older gods from the human perspective, that's what matters. It doesn't matter if something claims to be two thousand, twenty thousand, or twenty billion, it only matters if they have been comprehended by humans (or similar intelligent beings) and manifested. See, one big problem with YHVH is that he can only perform "localized" miracles and influence things on a small scale, yes if you went to the time and location of genesis you'd see all his sparkles and raising earth, but you stand outside of his sphere of influence you'll just see some entity flailing his arms about and realize that it was all mere illusions.

See: The alleged splitting of the moon, a mere projection, no better than an amateur magician doing a "Is this your card?" trick with a deck of 2s. If the plagues of egypt had any truth to them the entire region would be a smouldering crater.

realistically the plagues in egypt were pretty non-destructive the worst ones ecologically at least was turning the river to blood and big hail. i can't think of a single one that would have left a smoking crater.
I'm not one to pick a fight with a deity, but if you ignore the whole "decides who goes to hell" claim he is rather limited in scope requiring prophets as a focus site usually

Classic ttrpg fart sniffing taken to it's natural conclution. It's just a fucking game, not a "communal story experience" I swear to shit some ttrpg fans are some of the most upity high and mighty stains who look at everything else as beneath them. Why is this? I'm a fan my self but at least I'm not this delusional about a game.
>>

Work on your art.

Wtf is that.

>new player joins our D&D game

tell me more about that game. Are you DMing or playing? What is the party composition and what's the setting/campaign?
>>
>>98350254
I played wow for a bit and that shit was demonic.
>>
>>98350194
That's cool and all but you should work on your art.

The Sacred Mosque in Mecca. All Muslims are required to go at least once in their lives and every year if possible. The recording is sped-up for effect.

Guy is 100% right. Even by throwing dice you're in a way performing a Sumerian ritual based on holy geometry.

i don't know what you have against people enjoying the story they make up together anon, maybe you're projecting anger caused by something else onto that
>>
>>98351288
thats based on your paradigm and whether you're talking gnosticism or mainstream abrahamism. There is an ultimate supreme and it is human nature to wrestle with it, be debased and defeated by it, rise and kill it, mourn it, raise it from the dead, repeat. this is called understanding God.

It looks like Hell designed by a cenobite.
