The closest store is an hour away from me, and even that one barely does 40k, it's mostly cards. And that hour involves going on a interstate so it's not even a pleasant drive. So I like to play online with tabletop simulator, which is fun I guess, but I like my models. There's a reason I chose this hobby, I already play several videogames and like to have non-videogame hobbies too.So how viable is it to play my armies against each other myself? I have a table, I have terrain, and I have full eldar and SoB armies, and a bit of guard and agents as well. I could very easily field 1k, 2k, and 3k matches by myself of these factions. Any experience with this? Is it worth it to try to set up some kind of random action generator to play one side? Or perhaps an app for that?I'm worried that I might make rules mistakes and there's no one to know it happened, and I'm also worried that things I think are good but aren't, or other such mistakes, will just be ingrained in both sides and will worsen.I live in a beautiful area next to a state park and beaches, but the downside is that specialist stores and stuff is very far away.

It's a group hobby and it shows when you go against yourself.One hurdle you run into for example is that there's a lot of reactive moves and rules that you can do in your opponents turn and when you're strategizing for both armies you'll sometimes forget about one of the reactions you're able to do. Additionally, you'll know exactly what your opponent (yourself) will do 100% of the time so if you're really into it you're probably going to be thinking in terms of not just the turn you're in but also the next turn. Which is fine in a normal game but on your own you're thinking for both armies. For example:>I'll move my Orks here, and to counter that next turn I'll have my marines shoot them from here. But the Orks will die if I do that so maybe I should move them here instead since I know those marines will shoot them next turn. So in turn these other marines are going to move here and shoot them next turn instead.It's all well and good if you enjoy that sort of thing, but it does take a bit of fun out of going against a real opponent.

Some were even changing the result of the game, I always tell my opponents what was wrong. In any case, don't worry too much about it.

You obviously get a better main gun on the Russ and extra Durability while the other gives you an option to get into Melee and order support when walking. That and the Centaur can be ditched once its at lower wounds. I feel the Russ is maybe a better fire support option while the Ogryn are a better 'flex' option.

You need to make tactical sacrifices with your smaller units, bait out your opponents to expose themselves so you can punish their shit with your hard hitting units in reserves. For example I put five purestrains onto the centre objective, but left enough space between them and the walls so when my opponent charged, they'd have to get in and expose themselves to my gunline of 20 Neophytes + Benefictus. I'm not very experienced but you gotta do shit like that to win, which I think isn't exclusive to GSC but you can't just ooga booga.
