I'm actually new to all this, I am a comic book fan and every 5 or so issues there's advertisements for a Roleplaying game based on marvel comics, I have no real friends to play with so I'm just left wondering how does a superhero game differentiate to the usual roleplay scenario

Not a whole lot mechanically most of the time depending on how crunchy it is. The difference between a mage casting a spell and a super using an ability is essentially the same just with different descriptions and emphasis. So it all comes down to the GM and Player agreeing on the fantastical elements. It's basically a whole social contract kind of deal on a small scale.

Not this guy >>98376139 but thats about it. ive played heroes unlimited also and a few others. the marvel and dc rpg's (the old and newer ones) aren't bad and with some house rules and tweaks can be fun. friends and I have a side run going with a bunch of heroes gone/dead and borrowed a bunch of things from comics to set the tone.

at the plot its batman who laughs won and most heroes are dead, missing or pets or other things. and he's off in some place doing plot things and most of the main heroes captured or pets and other not as polite as comic outcomes. but gotham is a mess and new heroes came out of it and the upgraded villains in charge of sections (stuff taken from the comics and the batman who laughs things).


blah blah blah. the games arent bad and can be fun and chatbots can do fun stories about things like it. I do too many comic book related things and merge a ton of it.

I have six campaigns (all the same players in each) that are set in different regions on my world, and all occurring chronologically at the same time.

Campaign 1: Players are in a majority undead kingdom at war with an enemy nation (and losing, thus their need to turn to necromancer to maintain their military numbers). They are currently on the run after witnessing a false flag attack,.and are being hunted by the clergy and the royal alchemists. They're forming a resistance movement and pushing back against the corrupt government.

Campaign 2: The players are mercenary drop troopers (ala Helldivers) that are deployed from an airship to conduct missions and protect a fleet of conventional merchant vessels through a dangerous nautical channel.

Campaigns 3-6: Not yet started.

Two campaigns and oddly in both I'm playing near-human. I've been running a solo Traveller game for my wife, and the new Katherine is a high-class broker who is running speculative cargos through the Spinward Marches, having incidental adventures as she goes. (As it turns out, having a Broker skill of 3 is practically broken in Traveller. She hasn't lost money on a cargo yet, started at 200k credits and is now at 3 million. Won't be long before she has enough for her own starship.)

It's been years since I ran it, but it was very easy to get back into the swing of it.

Because she doesn't have her own ship, she's hiring ships and paying the freight cost and a passage for herself to follow the cargo, so she can act as broker on both ends.

Side AI Note: Because she's hitching a ride with a different ship every couple jumps, I've been using GPT to generate crews for the ships and personality quirks / interpersonal relationships between them, etc. Also used it to flesh out the bare bones world descriptions from the Spinward Marches. Eliminates so much prep time to have it whip up a skeleton for me to flesh out. I don't know if AI will ever be a real GM, but as a GM tool it can be great.

i've been all over the car wars and boot hill settings and also taking that into various video games and things from that.
but that gets into a ton of characters for games and pnp and sessions. and some sessions are done online so its all intertwined.

I think the style really suits the 80's futurism of the genre. It does remind me a lot of some of the old game art. Traveller in particular had some very clean line art.
