>DM for fiance and two of her female friends.
> Fought some stuff in a dungeon
>spent the last two session arguing in character how to spend the loot decorating the hideout the operate out of
>I am drawing sketches of floor plans and landscape ideas outside of an old house in the woods
>Realize I am managing a tea party with d20s
>The goblins and bandits will not die until we run out of coins for throw pillows and shrubbery

Was it hot though?
>>
>>98376053
No, these are the ugly, at home friends. Not the attractive ones she used to have girls night with.
>>
>>98376070
I guess when you get married, your friends get uglier.
>>
>>98376076
these two are the ones that swoop in and say she's not interested

Sounds wholesome

As always, when the players dithering and futz around, have a problem find them. Doesn't matter if its a troll, a bandit patrol, or a pack of ravenous undead, just make sure they remember that they don't live in a vacuum where interacting with the world only goes one way.

Hell, it doesn't need to be a violent encounter! Throw out refugees fleeing persecution or a wandering wizard looking for adventurers of some stripe. Just force them to realize that their woodland house isn't some perfect safe haven, isolated from the world, and they will at least consider going out to fight for it.
>>
>>98376243
I was taking consolation in that they seem to be stuff/gold motivated
>>
>>98376253
Oh.

Maybe drop rumors on them of dungeons with funny magical artifacts that'd make good house decor. Stuff like an infinite flowing water fountain, or a Closet of Holding. Play into their house fixation by making interesting house components a thing they can pick up from monster lairs and dungeons.

File for divorce immediately.

So use that is the key to encounters? Have a wandering merchant stroll by and offer to sell them stuff. He could be honest, a thief looking to steal or case their joint, a dropper of rumours of a bigger better pile of stuff and gold, or point out the history of an item they own that encourages them to seek the rest of the set.. Take what motivates the players to engage and use it to direct them to more plot hooks and adventures.

That’s just what happens when you run games for women.

Not the worst thing in the world. For my money, it’s still better than running a game for a mixed gender group. I hate only being able to please half the group at a time.

Get them to buy a manor later on. Have to hire servants and get them livery and horses and such. Include rival factions and generational heirs.

Your post cut off before
>And we had fun
But for real though you're gay as fuck.

This. Will bury my axe in the back of the head of rowdy mercs and pilfer their still twitching bodies to pay for artisanal dwarven-made plushies with which to delight at my next soirée.

Ya know, that is a good motivation for mercenary work. Your fiance is truly blessed.
>>

It doesn't matter, you still have to nut in them.
>>

Players who actually want to engage with their home base and any loot that isn't money, magic items, or superior weapons is positive to me. Hell, I was pleased when the knights in my party actually bothered to acquire other horses than their riding coursers and a baggage cart. Plus a squire.

I used to play a game called Conspiracy X; best summed up as X-Files meets X-Com, and you're the Men In Black. Game group exclusively male, and very male at that (the usual nerd-game jibes aside)
Invariably more attention was paid to the 'build a base' segments than any character sheet or plot investigation. I was almost running a "The Sims" game at times. Lego is (and Minecraft would become) massively popular for a reason.

I think there's a game exactly like that, I forgot the name though.
Something about the personification of stuff having tea parties.

Wait yeah I remember now, I'm thinking of Nobilis. I've never played it myself, but it's basically Gods doing a Pride and Prejudice thing. Sounds like your fiance and her friends would be into that.
>>
>>98376030
Sounds to me like you need to run something more laid back but also less character motivated for them.
Try Blue Rose, having the Queen come in occasionally and go "Agents of the State, put on your best, you need to go slap some balls" can keep things moving forward.
