Have any of you tried this company's print on demand? I'm looking at a few books I might want, and I know the difference between hardcover and softcover, but stuff like "premium color vs standard color" is something I don't know anything about.

I'm on the site right now and there are all these different books which, sure, it's an online marketplace, but it's just lists of books, I can't find a link to any kind of resource that would give me any idea of what to expect if I made a physical purchase

Yeah took 3 weeks for softcover, 5 weeks for hardback. Print quality was fine. my dog loved eating the hardback.

>>98416476I just double check this, to make sure I wasn't being hyperbolic. These are all softcover books, around 150 pages. It goes from 6.99 for two books, to 7.99 for 3 books, to 31.67 for 4 books. That's fucking absurd. I've ordered big orders from dtrpg in the past, and it wasn't like that.

DTRPG is fine. Expect shiny, plastic-like covers and relatively cheap paper. Don't ever spring for the "Premium Color" that shit is a waste of money, you won't notice the difference in quality but you'll notice the $20 price difference. Lulu has a better print quality in my experience but they don't have the dedicated storefront that DTRPG has; DTRPG is all in one place whether it be cards, comics, PDFs, and so forth, while Lulu is just a generalized printer. When I ordered my copy of Mythras from The Design Mechanism, it was printed through Lulu and I appreciated the quality difference, while still paying about $60 for my hardcover.DTRPG is also convenient: it keeps all of your purchases in a central place where you can redownload them, it links to Dropbox, it runs regular sales all the time. It's the most popular online storefront for roleplaying games, no reason to not use it.>>98416985I can't speak for the rest of the country but I live in Nashville and it's always funny to me that DTRPG will print my books roughly 30 minutes away from my house, then ship it across the state to a warehouse in Knoxville, where it then gets sent back to Nashville to my mailbox. The upside is that I get my books within a couple days of them being printed.
>>98403077I've ordered several of the 2020 soft covers through DTRPG (Chromebooks 1-4, Blackhand's, Protect & Serve, Pacific Rim, Corp Report, an Operation Firestorm Shockwave). The quality is just fine for the price. I'll warn you about numerous errors in the 2020 core rulebook that aren't DTRPG's fault: the 2.0.2.0 version (that is, the updated printing of the 2020 ruleset) had some changes from the original printing that slipped past the proofreaders, minor errors but you'll notice them when you look up certain rules. The PDFs that are sold online these days are scans of old copies, not that actual original print files themselves (which are so old now that PDF didn't even exist back in the mid 1980's) and so these errors now live forever, never to be fixed.

I'd love to get some of PDFs of out of print books but I don't know how strict they are with copyright or if they even have a way of knowing.
