I just think it's overdone. Makes it seem like the traitor legions had more loyalists than traitors at this point and makes the loyalists almost losing look hilariously pathetic.

>>98409576
Honestly love the idea and several legions have plenty of reasons to have traitors in their ranks.
>>
>>98409594
It's just always been bizarre to me because plenty of traitors had good reasons to turn their backs on the imperium, but there's almost never a reason to be loyal to them beyond "I was already loyal so I guess I'll keep doing it", especially for the more moralfag primarchs like Corax, Sanguinius, and Vulkan. Almost all of them also understood that the Imperium would ruin the quality of life/freedom on their worlds, so they specifically made sure their worlds got exemptions while proceeding to go and conquer a bunch of others. Like at least Lion was morally consistent and turned Caliban into a sweatshop
The only traitor legions that really feel like they should have any sizable amount of loyalists are the World Eaters and the Iron Warriors. And I hesitate to truly believe that about IW because "Loyalist Iron Warriors" is like the most reddit legion choice available, but Perty is a huge dick so at least it makes sense

>but there's almost never a reason to be loyal to them beyond "I was already loyal so I guess I'll keep doing it
Not specifically for the traitor legions, but the way I understand the khans reasoning seemed quite good for that.

Yes, the imperium is shit and theres good reasons to turn on it, but what the traitor legions turned into is clearly worse. Theyre a "good cause" done so poorly that you cannot justify going through with it.

Thats sort of the tragedy of it all, even if you want "better", if you see the imperium for how monstrous it is. Whats the alternative? Horus's chaos empire?
>>
>>98409677
>>98409682
I don't like it. hope they don't stop making actual terrain in favor of this ugly made for tourneyfags shit
>>
>>98409959
Lotta people fail to understand that the Grimdark is all about having to do terrible things and make horrible choices, because the alternatives are even worse. There are no "right" choices, there is no "good" side.
Always loved this quote from the Emperor that exemplifies that foundational truth of the setting:
>There are monsters, and then there are the monsters we create to fight them. They are the same. The difference is simply a choice of how we see ourselves.
>>
>>98409975
They obviously wont, this is just so lazy 40pigs can play with painted terrain for a change.
>>
>>98409959
The problem to me is that the alternative option is presented as too clearly a bad thing so early on. Obviously chaos is the worse of the two, but something from the original book describing the heresy basically mentions how Mortarian and Angron (given as examples) never thought they were doing anything other than fighting to save the soul of humanity due to Chaos' corrupting influence

Its like most of the setting is bioweapons run amok. Astartes are bioengineered weapons, orks were, tyranids might be. Even the imperiums humans were probably bioengineered at some point. At least i headcanon
>>
>>98410567
iirc fenrisians are confirmed genetically altered during the Age of Technology to make them capable of surviving on Fenris, would be very weird if they were the only human population to be bio-engineered to at least some degree
>>
>>98410599
We know there were a ton of examples of it, fenrisians are just most popularly known. The dorn novel had a human population who were at some point genetically modified by a xeno species for ambiguous reasons, but by the time they were encountered the the xenos were long gone. they got exterminated because of that modification - not because of the modification itself, but that it was done by xenos
There's also votann for a dark age of technology human offshoot who are all genetically modified on an individual level, with a basic set to make them far better at surviving the environments of the setting. It would make sense if most humans were similarly modified, albeit not individually, and that's why so many can survive things like 20 hour shifts 7 days a week and still make babies

This. Chaos looks ugly nad spiky because GW needs children to know which side is evil at a glance. Which is weird, because it is adults playing with toys, not children.

1/3 of the emperor's children were killed on istvaan for being known loyalists, this wouldn't have wiped out all the closet loyalists. Turns out that just because you're the supreme general doesn't mean all your boys are down with the revolt, and the loyalist armies having a lot of traitors would be stupid is because the whole point of betraying the emperor was due to the legion being more loyal to the primarch in the first place.

Nearly the entirety of the unification wars armies had one form or another of "gene-warriors" roughly similiar but much shittier than marines according to BL slop. No human on Terra had DNA that wasn't changed in one form or the other by tampering, biological warfare, disease or mutation and one of the first thing Emps did was restore humanity's DNA as it was during the daot. During the crusade he used terrans because of their pure human dna as settlers in the various conquered planets so they could interbreed with and eventually help the strains of humanity living there get genetically closer to what they were actually supposed to look like.

standard sprue but it's being spray painted by a machine, possibly assembled by a machine but idk; the paint is like that for the same reason print images (as in, printed on paper) are composed of dots to make up shade and color; it's meant to be looked at from a distance, not photographed up close like a Golden Demon entry

probably relatively cheap to do since it uses I expect the same tech they're using for GI Joes or whatever; probably got the idea from working with JoyToy, or were pitched it by them

early days (obviously the flash trimming leaves a lot to be desired) but... not the worst outcome? maybe something they're trying out and are committed to n+ units of, like those awful 40k drop pods, so they've got to sell them to see what people will put up with

if nothing else it'll turn some LGS tables into better terrain, god knows there's some shit out there that makes you wish for being a kid using piles of books and whatever

Maybe saying "biggest draw" in absolute terms is wrong, but I think the shredders are absolutely an enormous part of what makes the unit work, theyre an incredible weapon (bonus points for NL, where you can shred and then react to run away, allowing you to charge the next turn (after firing two more times).

If the only reason to revolt is because Primarch said so than traitors shouldn't have had that many loyalists. Also plenty of legions had reasons to side with Horus

>Older elements of Dark Angels and Raven Guard being sidelined
>Iron Hands thinking Manus (and by extension the emperor) is weak and should be replaced
>White Scars had close ties to Horus and could easily have fleets far from core imperial authority deciding to side with Horus before full intel about how Khan sides is given

Also LOL, 9.5 loyalist legions barely managed to hold the line against about 8.5 (generally smaller and understrength) traitor legions.

some was, but that was almost two decades ago

anything labelled "Made in UK" has substantially changed its use or value, not just been assembled (ie boxed) in the UK; likewise anything "made in China" must be labelled correctly

when you see shit online about this it's usually people giving opinions about what they think is happening, which is then taken as fact by people reading those threads; but licensing for labels is very strict and is enforced in the UK, so if it says "Made in UK", it was

when something is made in part in two countries - as with the printed materials, often including the boxes, which are made in China - it's fine to label them "Made in UK" as the actual product is the plastic toy, which is "Made in UK"

People are stupid. The old trait was "tangible power", it was less thematic but it was a hard numerical benefit. You could say "it triggered, so I shoot 25% better" or whatever.

The new one is more abstract, its tactical flexibility and how the fuck do you rate that? It doesn't make you "objectively killier" or have an easy way to represent its power, so people feel down about it despite it being simply a much better trait in terms of "design".

It's crazy to think it took over a decade for chain axes to become standard for assault squads.

MkIIs come with axes, so unless they axe (no pun intended) the whole kit, I doubt it.

One of the gayest things fat fuck did (Bligh) was say 'oh there were loyalists and traitors in every legion at all times.'
It's retarded.
>>
>>98418756
I think bligh just wanted to beat the playerbase to the punch since he knew there would be people who would do armies of legions contrary to their historical loyalty. And really giving people more hobby space to play around with is always a good thing, even if it can be kind of eye-rolling at times.
>>
>>98418756
We knew of loyalist elements in traitor legions well before the HH game, so why is it unthinkable for there to be traitorous elements in loyalist legions? They're not homogeneous blobs who all think alike. Different groups operated in different parts of the galaxy under different leaders and were influenced by different things.

>It's retarded.
No, it makes sense. Thats how civil wars work, thats what makes the horus heresy so scary from the imperial perspective and what defines so much of the early narrative around it.

You dont know who you can trust, you dont know who is loyal or secretly for horus. Horus doesent know exactly either.

A charismatic warlord has declared war on the state he once served and countless have risen to his banner, he was popular and beloved, he had friends in many places, he was the best of them. Of course he had shooters from every legion, of course there were those in the legions sworn to him that wouldnt have accepted his cause.
>>
>>98418756
Nah, the legions were large and dispersed enough to allow different allegiances within each legion. It's more unrealistic if most legions would have had no deserters at all if you ask me.
>>
>>98418929

Is he holding a keyblade?
>>
>>98419050
Nah, just a REALLY chewed up power gladius. All the notches and chunks taken out makes the pain better for the victim....instills more terror.

On that note, I think its pretty funny that now in the lore, most power weapons DONT have actual sharp edges on them. Theyre all dull and its the power field around them that lets them basically melt through shit like a light saber. That means a normie getting hit by one would be like getting hit with a white hot piece of rebar. More of a dull wound versus a nice cut.

I've seen clearer photos of bigfoot,

>>
>>98419733
Not initially, but you could do it via Shattered Legions.

>>98419780
>now they have our guns, they're gonna know who's boss
>>
>>98419468
well no because a) even if you're giving them the PA as a Unit, each Tarantula would have to DS separately (because of Independent Sentries) which is Not Useful,

and b) because they have a Movement Characteristic of -, they may not

>move, Rush or otherwise change the Model's position on the Battlefield regardless of any other Rules that may affect it

(AoDR p169)

if the Model is not on the Battlefield, entering from Reserves would change its position on the Battlefield, and so is not possible for Models with a Movement Characteristic of - or 0
>>
>>98419975
Arriving from reserves is a form of deployment, not movement.
By your retarded logic tarantulas wouldn't be allowed to be deployed regularly either, as that would change their position upon the battlefield. And drop pods would also not work.
>>
>>98419780
yeah but i'm fairly certain all reserves must come through via the stratagems right?

Teleport strike IS a reserve stratagem, you dense motherfucker.
>>
>>98420103
yes I may be dense

what i'm saying is that I don't think there is a way to deep strike WITHOUT using teleport strike in ZM?
unless I missed something, i'm fairly certain every type of reserves has to have a reserve stratagem picked for it when you want it to come on, and given teleport strike specifies infantry, you cant DS the tarantulas (unless you can not use a statagem and DS normally)
>>
>>98420106
Any unit of infantry that has the deep strike special rule (but isn't also anti-grav) can deploy using the teleport strike stratagem. There are a few unit with built-in deep strike, and warmongers exist.
>>
>>98420002
and yet the rules for Movement clearly state that models without Movement Characteristics cannot "otherwise change the Model's position on the Battlefield regardless of any other Rules", which means even Reserves and Deployment rules cannot change the fact they are unable to be deployed from Reserves, which would change their position on the battlefield

don't worry though, they're not Casualties, they're just stuck in a crate somewhere

the big clue you should have noticed is that Reserves is a sub-phase of Movement; and the second big clue is that the Reserves Rule itself also states

>Entering play from Reserves is considered to be moving for Rules that are affected by a Unit having moved, even if the Models in the Unit that is entering play do not move after being placed

(AoDR p242)

so it's clearly defined as Movement (and happens in the Movement Phase) and is, by definition, not something a Model with a Movement Characteristic of - or 0 can do; the following page has the Moved vs Stationary Rule, which defines that

>In order to have moved, one or more Models in a Unit must end the Movement Phase in a different position than that which they started the Phase

again, since the Unit must have started the Movement Phase off-battlefield in Reserves in order to enter play during the Reserves Sub-Phase, entering from Reserves must count as Movement, because the Unit is not where it was at the start of the Phase (this also means you are not Stationary for eg Heavy (X) weapons if you arrive from Reserves in the same turn, even if you don't Move); even if the Tarantulas gained Deep Strike from Teleport Transponders, they couldn't use it

>>98419789
>>98419739
I wanted to agree with this but obviously it too is technical Movement and so impossible for Tarantulas; bit of a waste too, since they'd be automatically destroyed at the end of the turn they arrive in; but if they weren't removed you could camp the els and conga-line to victory, which fucking sucks
>>
>>98420168
>which would change their position on the battlefield
They arent changing their position on the battlefield because they dont have a position on the battlefield.

Or are we going to argue drop pods cant actually deep strike?

Tbf, I Do think you ought to put in some effort to HH the mini's but people having a fit over a 40k sword is just silly. Or a 40k armor Wich is made of HH available parts for a character, call it MasterCrafted or something. Logan had the eagle curras, I'm sure there are more marines who have personal touches like that.
