Purple Sun. IT WAS SO EPIC. Like a cheat code. Just cast it with irresistible force, melt your opponent's death star and win the game. So cool.

Do you actually like TOW rules or do you just play it because there really aren't other rank and flank games with as large player bases?
>>
>>98412214
The latter. I've been trying to dig out of gws ecosystem with games like battletech though, still not rank and flank but its a much better system.
>>
>>98412214
Option two.
Through to be honest, ToW is probably the best WHFB ruleset to date. And I give it brownie points for letting me field a an an troll army, even if it's wonky.

>regular 6E player
>have a first game of ToW (battle march coming this week)
>have 40 points left over to rune my thane up
Any tips dorf players? I nearly always take the master rune of swiftness on my beat stick (along with the master rune of spite if it's not a slayer) but from what I see in this edition extra strength no longer gives you AP so my thane will be stuck with a fast S4 AP- attacks and that sounds bad.
>>

>>

I usually prefer my model with the shield but I could see how it works out. I'm still getting to the combat chapter, do people still fight first on charge including those with two handed weapons?
>>
>>98412281
Not quite. For each inch you charge, you get+1 initiative, capped at +3. Great weapons get initiative 1, so cap at initiative 4 on a full charge. As Dwarfs however, expect to be charged than not.
>>
>>98412281
Also if you prefer the hand weapon and shield, just give him the rune of Fury, Might and Cleaving. +1 Strength, +1 Attack and -1AP and still get your shield. I am similar, I hate using minis with equipment on the model.

take legs from light cav model
take wizard
bisect wizard at the waist
glue light cav model legs to half-wizard

alternatively, you have ~40 years of metal, plastic, and possibly even resin empire models to search through on the second hand market. figure it out.

Depends on the role.
>Cheap leader: hand weapon, shield, armour runes.
>For tanking (expensive): Shieldbearers + rune of preservation .
>For damage: great weapon + 1 or 2 runes of Fury.
There are also the gun Thane and the BSB.
My favourite is with Shieldbearers and great weapon, but when short on points I would do handweapon + great weapon + shield + 2 runes of shielding. Keeps him alive, can switch weapons and keeps the gromril weapon bonus.

I got to agree.
As I paint a fuck ton of humies on foot I start thinking. Thinking about trolls. The models have always been the most iconic whfb models to me. Perfectly representing the cartoony nature of the setting.

How good is a troll horde?
Is this list any good? I have a bunch of savage orc stls so I figure this could be a horde straight out of the southlands

Primal Smashin [1998 pts]

I don't Dwarf but I tend to just attach Meteoric Iron on my general and let his T5 do the heavy lifting. Dwarf Thane gets full plate by default. With a shield 3. He also has Gromgril armour, allowing him to reroll 1s. That is plenty for Battle March. Even eating a lance he gets a 5+ save unless they wound him on a 6.

Don't know about orcs but mantic goblins can work as warhammer ones well enough with a classic colour scheme and some OnG sourced kitbashing for the front rank. Absolutely horrid kits to assemble though, shitty plastic, soft detail and super inconvenient mould lines. Also basically no customisation options so you're left with what you can scavenge from your bitsbox yourself. Their only advantage back when I bought them was that the box was like 0.94€ per mini which is ludicrously cheap.

Those do not look nearly as bad as the webstore and box pictures. How are they scale-wise? $40 for 40 goblins is not a terrible price. I do not think they are made by Archon for Mantic, so I doubt the quality is great, sadly.

Not a dorf player so I don't recall the exact details, but you can give a thane a handgun and make it into a grenade launcher with a rapid fire rune and an explosive rune. Also room for an accuracy rune, if using the right army iirc.

I've got a large ogre army and a 6th edition army book, but I've never played in its correct edition. Any suggestions for like a 1k army with the fatsos? Just general pointers on what I should have on the field and on my heroes.

Here's a very old comparison picture I took, with a BFSP night goblin, knightmare shaman, MoM shaman and Mantic goblin. They're just about the size of the current goblin warriors/wolf riders I'd say, so I don't think there are any major scale issues + greenskin are kind of inconsistent size wise anyways. IMHO their only aesthetic problem is that their heads are kind of small compared to GW greenskins.

Yeah if you just want cheap goblins it's not the worst deal honestly. While the detail isn't the best, it's at least sculpted well enough that you can clearly understand what's supposed to be what, so they are at least fun to paint. If you actually really cared you could push these sculpts even further with some quality blending and highlighting I just couldn't be assed to spend too much time on gobbo chaff.

There is a reference, partially, in Skarsnik where the goblins are described abusing the women in manners the men found dusturbing, which they purposelly did. Battle march has me excited with idea for building differant bagage carts.
Empire would be easy with a basic historical cart pulled by an ox but other races open some options
Like chorfs and dark elves would probably have some kind of wagon cage of slaves on wheels pulled by camels. A high elf wagon could holding books/wine while moving automously by magic. Dwarves could have a jackass or two pulling a mine cart full of gems.

I mean if you go back far enough, yes, but it's not canon anymore, now they're like 40k. I've seen some mention that it might be canon that they have dicks despite not needing them, but I doubt that's canon, and I don't know the source of that claim. It was probably just a writer not being aware, or some attempt to reconcile old lore with new.

Sometimes I feel like GW just didn't give a shit about fantasy lore, and just let writers do whatever they wanted. 40k lore feels much more consistent.
>>
>>98414475
Aren't there a few stories of them kidnapping Dwarves? I thought one of the southern holds had some lore of the King's family being held by some Orks. Is summer break and I am waiting for an interview to call back. The principal of the last school I worked out is on vacation so I'm scared I wont get the job if they cant get a hold of her despite a glowing rec letter.

So I am daydreaming about using my old high elf warden again in battle march. He's on a perpetual quest: His uncle, the prince, keeps sending on a fool's errand to find his missing gems on every corner of the world. The warden is tired. So very tired. But both honor and being cut off compel him to quest for this fucking jewelry.

When TOW launched, the rules stated that all models in the front rank of a unit would get to fight. With no stipulation on how far they are from the opposing models. In GW's mind, it was meant to represent the old Lapping Around rule from 6th ed.
What ended up happening was that tournament faggots would run units 1 deep and 20-30 wide. Like the bottom picture of the troll's post.
So GW released a major FAQ (the 1.5 update) that added the rule that units in the front rank can only make a supporting attack if they're within their movement characteristic of an enemy model. Effectively killing the idiotic WAACfaggotry that was Linehammer.

I remember back in the 2000's all the LGSs in my city have custom boards like the top pic and shelves upon shelves of terrain for players to decorate them with. I never see that anymore at any LGS I visit. The custom board has been replaced with neoprene battlemats and tournament terrain
>>
>>98415299
A lot of that has to do with the people who handle that stuff being fucking apes. About 10 years ago, I and a few other hobbyists made a whole bunch of scratch-built terrain of all types, fantasy, sci-fi, modern and so on for our LGS. We made the kind of terrain that we wanted to play on and donated it because we knew the store needed a supply of terrain for others and we were happy to help.
90% of our hard work was broken and lost within 6 months.
You kinda know things are going to get broken and beat up by sheer use. You're just never prepared for how fucking ham-handed these retarded gorillas are when it comes to handling terrain and shoving it back into the shelves where they got it from.

Sadly there's no active ogre player at my club so I can share tips based only on my general 6e experience and what people that used to play told me:
>this is a charriot and cavalry edition so you're at a disadvantage, although you can survive a charge since you're an ogre, gnoblars not so much
>you got up to +3 rank bonus on everything so watch out for seemingly weak tarpits like empire swordsmen, anything with a hand weapon and shield gets+1 to save thanks to 6/7ed party
>still you're flush for AP and get impact hits on charge, and you're unlikely to run into giants or dragona at a 1000 points (unless playing against dogs of war) so S4 will carry you
>bring gnoblars to screen the ogres against bolt throwers
Sorry I'm mostly drawing a blank on them unless you have specific questions.

why remove parry?
Maybe give it to the Empire swordsmen only, that'll give the army something different from the rest since we lost detatchment
>>
>>98416265
Because the shittiest, cheapest infantry in the game still ends up with a 4+ armour save. That basically mean means you can't kill anything with no AP and -2 is the default if you want to kill anything, which is retarded considering it's supposed to be the best option aside from exceptional magic items/combos.

Basically they completely offset the armor/ap balance of the game with that one retarded rule.

That also makes spears incredibly shitty, not only do you lose parry but you also have to pay for that loss AND the extra attacks you have will do absolutely because the enemy WILL have parry.

It's incredibly dumb.

I'm more into the painting and collecting side of the hobby. I'll play a few games every now and then, but I mostly like painting and organizing armies. For those of you who are on the same boat, how do you manage that side of the hobby? Do you just keep your models in showcases? Do you consider an army complete and then sell it? Because I've been looking through the big army boxes and found out I'd love to paint all of them but I'm quickly running out of space to keep them
>>
>>98416441
look into gunpla instead.
>>
>>98416441
small armies. Dont get sucked into the idea you need massive armies and lrn2manage space.
Miniature collecting as a hobby if done intelligently is the most space efficient hobby.
Toy collecting and gunpla etc is absurdly inefficient with space

if you are like me and arent really tempted in the foreseeable future to actually play (because you hate people) small armies is perfect.
>>
>>98416442
I've tried and even bought one but I'm not into sci-fi or japanese robots so I built it and never painted it

>>98416455
That's what I was going into, but if I get an army I get into a completionist mindset and feel the need to get at least one of every unit. For elite armies like HE it's not a problem, but I started painting orcs and it's a completely different story
>>
>>98416463
You just need to take a deep breath and realise you are not actually playing the game so you dont need a competitive army or to net list. You are collecting for aesthetics. For example
1 hero, 1 regiment, 1 bonus unit. This is a small army. Easy to paint easy to store, then you can move onto another one. With patience for your favourite army you can return and add a new unit over time, till you have something like 1000 pts.
See the big irony here is this is how GW used to encourage people to collect back when WD was actually a hobby mag and Warhammer was bought with pocket money/lunch money.
You'd start with a hero and a regiment, then just buy a blister every week or so until you had an army.

>>
>>98416488
Minis only have a soul when they're on a table surrounded by terrains, dice and maybe a glass of beer. In any other setting they revert back to their useless plastic junk natural state.

>>98416497
Damn that's tough. If you're purely looking for efficient storage I could suggest a metal file box along with magnetized bases. You can safely put minis on all 6 inner side of the box. I'm confident I can pack those two shelves inside a single box (that's how I carry my armies).
>>
>>98416497
That was the idea, you got one thing a week, plenty of time to leisurely paint it.

Part of the issue with what miniature collecting, Is getting implied deals from buying large quantities of minis. So i'll just make up numbers, like $150 for 70 minis, woah thats such a good deal. The issue here is you now have a pile of shame forming, you'll lose motivation to paint it and if you keep buying like that you'll be drowning in minis.
Compared to say spending a bit less and getting one box of guys you like and couple extra units/characters. This is going to be more satisfying to collect and more manageable. You are basically being tricked to spend more for larger quantities you dont really need because plastic is cheap, it doesn't bother the company at all to give you a fair deal of plastic.

They've been doing this for over a decade. This is their 8th series I think? All previous series except for one have been space marines, that other one was stormcast.
The thing is usually nobody cares because they're just reposed normal troops usually, so you just have like 2 special intercessor or 1 special primaris scout in your group of 10. And special is an overstatement because they look exactly the same as every other space marine. I mean look at these guys. Same case for the stormcast.
This box seems to have mostly characters, who actually look different from the already existing models for those characters. Probably by virtue of being cities of siggy instead of space marines or stormies who have very strict looks they need to adhere to.
But yeah this stuff is mostly aimed at japan etc, though usually the bigger retailers in the west also get some. It's not something you will find at an average lgs I think, at least not previously in my experience. It's trying to reel in normies essentially.

It really depends what you're into, but I'm also a fan of the small armies approach. Except for /maybe/ the Empire, I feel like every army can really be whittled down to like ~4 kits that represent the core of that army's identity which everything else exists around. Not saying the rest of the AB is useless, but you have a certain minimum choice of units you can assemble, look at, and go "yup that's an X army alright" instead of just a group of units. I'm very mercurial, but ideally most of my armies veer towards something like 2 core, 1 elite/special and 2 characters, something like 750 points usually.
>>
>>98416609
if it makes you feel better worst thing i ever did was dropping a couple hundred on a korean mmo gacha and i didnt get the thing i wanted, and i will never do that again. Not that id play any gacha ever again even even for free (thanks Yoko Taro)

Dumbest miniature related spending was throwing a thousand on a miniature kickstarter, and one that was about 400-500ish dollars. But i actually ended up really liking the 400ish dollar one
>>
>>98416627
I had a small army Empire idea for ages which is basically a witchhunter, undead slayer army led by a priest, greatswords, flagellants and some cannons and lots of guns.
But ive since sold off a bunch of it so the actual army will be even smaller.
It was supposed to be a counterpart to my small Vampire army ive also planned to make since forever.
I also have a small chaos, lizardmen and skaven, tomb kings army as more rivals, backlogged
Part of this was me wanting to make small armies facing off against one another in case i could convince a friend to play a game. Turned into me just collecting small face off/versus thematic armies because i enjoy it and i have no friends

6mm and warmaster is optimal for space. Warmaster has a lot of stls now.
In my mind because i was always space conscious and the appeal for me was small WFB/40K armies and moderately large 6mm was the best experience for me.

An army's done when you say it's done. Points values are abstract, change between every edition, and don't actually mean anything, especially in WHFB. You can inflate your army's points value with magic items and upgrades, so I don't consider that a good metric for an army's completeness. You could have 2000 points of chaos warhounds, but would that be a complete army?
One of everything? That's stupid too. What about models you don't like? I think dragon ogres are stupid and loathsome in the extreme, is my army incomplete if I don't have any of them?
Wanna know when my army's going to be done? Never, there will always be at least one more model that I want to acquire and paint, but the amount of models that make me feel that way has been steadily decreasing over the last four years. Mostly because people charge an arm and a leg for the models I still want and I can't justify spending that much money on what could only be described as a vanity project on top of another vanity project.
Ergo, latin, scientifically, the point when an army is "finished" can be objectively determined by the ratio of desire to purchase a new model for said army with the amount of justification necessary to purchase another model for said army. Then you'd have to control for owning multiple armies, but I can't be fucked.
Collect what you want, fuck what anyone on this board, thread, or anywhere else says. They're probably gay and retarded.

For my first army I got nearly 5k and every unit because I wanted to try everything and understand the game well. For my second army I just got 2k plus a couple of units because I just wanted a specific thematic army.
From now on I think I'll just stick to 2k-2.5k for each army because switching armies will be more fun for me and I don't need to try multiple units of each army because I already know how they'll behave.

Warhammer is somewhat popular in Japan, including Warhammer Fantasy. There's always been a lively Fantasy scene there. Check out forums from 20 years ago and you'll be surprised.

Mostly I try to be efficient. A lot of the time I find a faction really appealing, but I don't actually have that many ideas for conversions and individual unit & character fluff, so instead of collecting a big army I probably won't really care about that much I do a Mordheim warband so I can do some cool converting and a 15mm army(I just use regular 6th rules including base sizes, but cram a bunch of 15mm minis on each base; this lets you play at a modest point value while still having a vaguely impressive army since a 4x4 or 4x5 regiment will still have 100+ individual figures, or a single rank of cavalry will still have 15-20) so I can enjoy playing the army from a rules perspective with minimal investment of time & effort. Where I do have a lot of ideas I want to realise, I try to find "compact" ways of doing them; I collect to 1500pt lists for 4th edition 40K instead of modern Blobhammer 41,000, my WHFB Chaos is actually four very distinct monogod forces(Khornate Khurgan mounted hunting party, vaguely Slannesh-themed Norscan sea raiders, a Tzeentch army based around a sorceror who founds cults across the history of the Empire to periodically summon his daemonic patron and its servants to the physical realm and gets to remain immortal so long as he does it every 100 years, and a Nurgle-themed Warrior/Beastman mashup list) plus a small collection of generic WoC units, all of which can be combined in various ways to form an actual tabletop army - that way I get to do five different "armies" while only actually needing about 2.5 armies' worth of minis. My Star Wars Empire is constructed in a similar way, with one or two characters and special units that get some actual backstory and effort, then single platoons of various kinds of X-trooper that can go together into a force based on the scenario. For 30K I stick to 1-1.5k Zone Mortalis and so on.
>>
Do you get faster at cleaning and assembling models over time? I’m OCD about mould lines and it takes me about 25-30 minutes to put together and clean a single infantry model and I feel like that’s mad slow

They actually weren't too Jewish to start with since they provided them to retailers in packages that were essentially one of each mini in the series including the "secret" mini plus a couple of random extras, so if you found a retailer who would just sell you the whole box you could at least be guaranteed to get all of them. I think they nixed that around the time they started doing Primarishart ones instead of Realmarines.

No, *well-off* people are careful with their money. Rich people either won a lottery(actual or metaphorical) or they inherited, and most of them are incredibly gauche and profligate with their wealth. Your perception has been skewed by three primary factors:
1. Propaganda. You've been conditioned since birth to believe the wealthy earned their wealth and did so because they're smarter than you and worked harder, because they figured out brainwashing the plebs into being self-hating shills for the rich was a cheaper way of avoiding an eventual Guillotine O'Clock scenario than paying for all that social security stuff they used to stave off Communism in the 20th century.
2. If you're rich, you can afford to buy things once. By which I refer to the Sam Vimes Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness - you buy the boots you can afford, which are cheap and wear out quickly, so you have to buy more, and this cycle repeats endlessly. They buy one pair of really well made boots that cost a few months of your salary, and if they look after them they never need to buy another. Cumulatively you spend more money on boots than they do. Multiply that by everything else you have to buy.
3. The current fashion among the rich is to buy things that are heinously expensive but which deliberately avoid looking ostentatious. Another richfag will know that your jacket is an Henry Duboisie original that cost 15K, but to Joe Plebboid it just looks like a regular waxed hunting jacket that cost a few hundred quid. As a result the wealthy *look* frugal, but are actually still flaunting their wealth *to each other* just not in quite as crass a way as a rapper draped in gold chains.

i have a completed 40k army but not a fantasy army, insofar as i have painted every model and can field a 2000pt force and have a comfortable amount of options, it's not meta but i'm happy with it and have no intention of adding onto it as i do not care for 40k in the slightest.

Make parry a 6+ ward against non-magical?
>>
>>98417242
Thats probably the best solution, wasn’t it a wars save in older editions?
>>
>>98417242
No, just get rid of it wtf. It's literally not needed, shields already give +1 armour.
>>
>>98417277
Its like that in Warhammer Armies Project
>>
>>98417351
Removing parry entirely is not a good idea. There's a reason they added it back in. Infantry needed to a little boost. It's true that horde infantry is now too good as a result, but that doesn't mean that elite infantry shouldn't get it.
>>
>>98417242
>>98417481
I think parry should only activate if you have equal to or higher WS than the opponent. It kinda makes sense. A WS 2 peasants shouldn't really be able to parry a WS 5 Swordmasters attacks. It would be more flavorful too and boost more expensive infantry.

Lmao that entire channel is a joke now.
Barely over 5k views from their most dedicated whales when they use to get close to the 100k mark. The channel has completely failed
>>
>>98417519
I'd say only if you're higher weapon skill, not equal. Then just make it a full static +1 armor regardless if they have a shield or not. Would make elite units and characters more interesting.
>>
>>98417552
I mean if they are equally skilled it would make sense from a simulationist pov that they should be able to parry each others attacks at times? It's not like parry guarantees making a save
>>
>>98416423
If you aren't playing a sweat lord taking only the most broken shit Cathay isn't that bad. If they take an army that looks like an army and not just double shengungan or balloon bullshit, the army is fine to play against.
For example I played my friends Cathay with double Sentinels, Miao, and only one cannon with my ogres. I won (mostly because he misplayed Miao) but it was fun, we were both tearing chunks out of each other.
>>
>>98417571
>double shengungan
I don't want to sound like a fag but double shugengan isn't even that bad really. It's when you push into 3-4 when it becomes oppressive. Outside the cannons and shugs Cathay doesn't really have anything going for it, the balloons are only decent now.
>>
>>98417563
Stupid argument anyway.
You don't have to be a GRANDMASTER to party someone else, fuck if you are less skilled you are MORE likely to just be trying to defend yourself, as you are too clumsy or worried about further opening yourself up going on the offensive.
Regardless, Parry adding to armor is retarded ANYWAY, since parrying involves avoiding or deflecting the hit, and that sort of mechanic should be covered under the WS anyway, since it determines how well you hit and can be hit.
>>
>>98417584
>You don't have to be a GRANDMASTER to party someone else, fuck if you are less skilled you are MORE likely to just be trying to defend yourself, as you are too clumsy or worried about further opening yourself up going on the offensive.
Yeah but if you're less skilled and/or more clumsy than your opponent then you will struggle to successfully parry/deflect their more skilled/graceful strikes.
>>

>>
>>98417591
Excellent job. You just described why parrying should be considered as part of the consideration for a units WS and not an armor buff.
>>
>>98417614
Parry increasing a unit's WS would be silly, that would make them better offensively too. Unless you're saying it should provide a -1 malus to hit. That'd be crazy talk.
>>
>>98417619
Hmm does mark of nurgle still give -1 to hit for chaos warriors?

-2 to hit on top of their decent WS would be funny.
>>
>>98417653
No, it doesn't. It forces opponents to re-roll results of 6 to hit the marked unit.
>>
>>98417668
What a lame benefit. Should be +1 T
>>
>>98417837
+1T is more or less -1 to wound. The current mark is roughly -0.5 to hit.
>>
The chaos marks in general are fucking lame. I still don’t get why warriors have weapon options when enscrolled weapons just makes most of those options null.

GW fiscal financial report came out, not much TOW stuff
>Warhammer: The Old World
>The Old World was released in January 2024 and the team are working hard to design and release as many new miniatures as they can.
Highlights of the year were the ‘Chaos Warriors’, Warhammer’s oldest faction with its first incarnation in the early 1980s, and ‘Grand
Cathay’, one of the very newest, first released in 2025.
So expect more plastic minis in the future
>>
>>98418056
damn bros looks like tow is not doing as hot as we expected
>>
>>98418068
Dont care. This is the first main gw game I've wanted to play in years.
40k has never been fun. Because IGOUGO is ONLY fun in rank and flank games.
AoS is a soulless corporate mess that didnt even take advantage of the opportunity it was given. If they took the chance of a new game to do alternating activations it could have been fun. But the fact they stuck to IgoUgo proves beyond a doubt it was made by a soulless corpo.
>>
>>98418068
I'd say the opposite. If they want to design and release as many minis as they can that kind of implies it's doing well enough to warrant that.
>>
>>98418056
That's more than what they said about TOW last year
>>98418068
kys
>>
>>98418198
It's still a rather small amount compared to what was said about 40k AoS and HH
>>
>>98418204
HH is legit dead, look at the online engagement on YouTube and on their own social media. TOW meanwhile has more engagement online than AoS, and I don’t mean in secondary content like video games, I mean hobby content and battle reports and strategy videos. TOW is thriving, meanwhile AoS is headed for a reboot of the setting because the IP struggles to break into any kind of mainstream interest. A problem that doesn’t exist for Fantasy.
>>
>>98418056

I mean maybe if this were for video games but this is for physical media over here.
>>
>>98418096
Can you provide some examples of games that do alternating activations well?

I am currently writing my own ruleset and wouldn't mind studying some variations on the mechanism to see what works well

In particular, things like how time durations of special abilities/rules/magic etc. are calculated is something Im exploring
>>
>>98418204
>small amount compared to
HH has TWO more sentences and 40k/AoS are flagship games, anon. This is a financial report for shareholders who only care about overall growth, not a breakdown on each game. Hell, kill team isn't mentioned at all. This annual tea leaf reading is nonsensical.

NTA but there are different metrics for success. A company will want to expand its revenue however it can and if they think they can shakeup a brand to make it more attractive to licensing deals while still keeping the same model sales, they'll do it because that's a clear "line go up" moment

We are still on latter half of the pre 3.0 Heresy planned releases. GW has a stupid long lead time due to the amount of different projects on the move at all times.I genuinely wonder if a year from now Heresy will maintain their pace of releases. Looking at tournament data or really any kind of engagement that we can actually quantify, Heresy 3.0 did massive damage to the player count.

Meanwhile TOW is thriving globally and very well organized with OWR. There's tons of tournaments being played every week and those only track the ones that are submitted into the system. So we know from that data that TOW is doing very very well. Meanwhile any kind of quantifiable data, along with prominent voices in the HH community will tell you that HH is struggling in 3.0

The parry rule is very much needed to keep infantry useable. Just tweak it so that you need equal or higher WS vs your enemy to use it in combat. Simple tweak that nerfs chaff infantry in favor of elites and also just make it into a 6+ inv save. A swordmaster should be able to parry a marauder with great weapons swing imo.

I got gifted a lovely beastmen chariot by a friend and was thinking about expanding my armies to include a dairy-cow themed minotaur force.

To me the biggest difference between Grand Army and Minotaur-specific is that you can take a Bullgor wizard, which really doesn't feel very powerful overall.

I have read or played hundreds of rulesets.
Ignore the guy that said One Page Rules. Look into LaSalle 2, Sharp Practice, Warlords of Erewhon. A concept that most Warhammer players are not familiar with that makes a good turn sequence is "command friction," and OPR doesn't have it. OPR is a simplistic braindead approach of "I move one unit, you move one unit, I move one unit" with zero variation. That approach is hardly better than traditional I-GO-U-GO. An AA sequence that works great in rank and flank games is alternative commander activation. For example, your army might have 3 or 4 officers with a couple units under their command each, and when that commander activates he has a certain number of "commands" to divy out to the units under. Some games randomize the order in which the players commanders are drawn, some have it strick AA, etc.

There are literally hundreds of ways you can structure a turn sequence and activation, people that fixate of a binary "AA vs IGOUGO" are frankly not well versed in wargaming rules.

Your comment made me laugh.
Not because it's not true but because back in the day (and for many years afterward) these dwarfs were maligned to an incredible extent.

I understand not liking the sculpts but these were some of the best designed miniatures for warhammer fantasy.
They required little/no assembly, they are easy to tell apart and it's easy to see what they represent and, most importantly, they rank up without issues.

As far as game pieces go, these are easily among the best GW ever put out. Plus they were fucking everywhere, they were so common in fact that they literally flooded the secondary market depressing prices and allowing many players to expand their force for a reasonable price. It also distorted my perception of what a used miniature should cost and that taught me to only go for absolute bargains.

Plus up until the very end of the game, you couldn't see a single dwarf army without that cannon or without that thane.

Chaos warriors (the unit) have never had an outright bad-looking kit, but these new ones are way too detailed for a rank-and-flank game
>inb4 just drybrush them silver lole
In that case why purchase a super expensive GW kit if you're not gonna make it look nice
Also chaos warriors didn't need their, what, 4th, 5th refresh since tomb kings skeletons were released (faction they put in the starter box btw)
