My LGS has a Nepenthe campaign two player starter set and a bunch of other boxes for conquest. The minis look cool enough, but is the game good?
>>98412299No idea if the games are good, but the minis are at an annoying scale, 38mm or something speshul like that. No preexisting terrain or minis work well with it as a result.
>what if whfb but even more of a pain to transport and even more ridiculously small numbers in a "block"No, but you should buy into Epic or Warmaster. You're more likely to find another player, in addition to better rules, faster painting, and better on-table aesthetic.
>>98412338>>98412348Neither of these people play games. They just watch youtube videos and imagine what is true
>>98412299the alien elves look cool
>>98412299I think the minis are cool.
I watched one game people played at my LGS. It didn't look fun, and the minis aren't compatible with any of my existing terrain. That was enough to kill it for me.
>>98412299Do you have a local community? If no, don't.If yes, then do it.The game is meh. Not horrific not particularly good.
>undead faction is roman inspiredgemerald alert
>>98412299I think the most important factor here is if you have someone else to play with. If you don't care about actually playing and just want to paint the models because they look cool then who cares just buy whatever you think looks cool.
>>98412299I'll say this Conquest is one of the only direct attempted GW wargame competitors where the minis are generally well designed and give the impression of interesting and creative but cohesive lore and an interesting and creative but cohesive world. None of this "exactly an existing GW game, except more generic" like OPR and mantic stuff, and not the warmachine things of being "creative" and "unique" but arguably ugly, and if not ugly, more importantly, things look like they're from completely different universes with completely different lore and art directionConquest is like what I always think a competitor for Age of Sigmar/old world should look like and feel like, I just don't know the history and business side of things enough to know why you don't see it more. Not a fan of the arbitrarily larger scale just to try and make proxying impossible though.
>>98412348>You're more likely to find another player,No you're absolutely not more likely to find anyone to play with, not unless you're supplying both armies.
>>98415274Nobody plays Conquest. There is a small but dedicated long term fan base for various flavors of Epic and for Warmaster, and both populations have gotten some new attention due to LI and the Old War (more the former than the latter though).
>>98415674I've got a game store 15 minutes from me that has a player base.
>>98412299Get someone to play with. I enjoy the game, but I have a couple dedicated players who also play so that makes it easier. It's got a funky card system where you arrange a deck that you draw from to activate the units. Some people don't like it, but I think it's fun. Another part of the strategy.
>>98415867Oh, great, then do it fgt
>>98412299Monitoring the thread. I've been wanting to get into it too. Rules seem solid and the factions are great. Love the designs.
>>98412299If you've got people to play with theen go for it.If you want to get two sets of stuff and actively bring people into the game then go for it.Same as with any other game...
