I need a Redwall inspired system, something built for long campaigns. Mouse Guard and Mausritter felt like after exploring a few character concepts I had seen it all and there wasn't enough mechanical depth to bite into. I do like Mouse Guards scale, it felt really cool to actually portray mundane animals as behemoth type beasts, but how conflict is resolved makes tense encounters feel like a wet noodle. Mausritter has some cool ideas too, but it doesn't feel like a Redwall game.

I could try GURPs, but I'd have no clue where to start. Im also entirely put off by Ironclaws art style to give it a fair shake.

Any other game recommendations?

Mouseguard needs a better conflict system, because if it had a better one it'd be the only ttrpg I'd run.

There is that Primrose game.

There is no GURPS. It's a hallucination caused by your severe brain damage. Haven't you been curious when you play GURPs your friends ask you what you are talking about?

FNORD
GURPS is the best RPG bar none

>play B/X, OD&D, or any number of clones
>swap rodents for player races/classes
>swap large animals for similar monsters
Whew! Tough.

>anon is looking for mechanical depth
>recommend fucking old D&D which has zero mechanical depth
What's next, gonna recommend FATE?

Your loss, then. Despite the art quality, Ironclaw is played EXTREMELY straight in terms of its lore, political factions, and trying to be somewhat period accurate despite the magic and talking animals. And it’s a decent system mechanically. It’s really one of the best options for something Redwall adjacent, so if you’re avoiding it because of superficial hangups that literally do not influence how you play the game, then accept you’ll be searching for your ideal game forever.

Screwball pick.
Try Errant RPG.
