The most important question when starting to design a monster girl setting is what relationship they have with humans. Are they fringe outsiders that live far away from human towns? If so, who is most often interacting with them? How do those interactions play out?Are they invaders who attack humans? What do they seek to gain from their battles? Why haven't the monster girls completely conquered humanity, and why has humanity failed to secure their realms?Do they live in harmony side by side with humans? What makes them different from eachother? How do they gain mutual advantages from these differences, or mitigate these differences when they make coexistence difficult?
Related to the OP question, do you try to take the same sort of 'universe' of MGE or do you homebrew your own universe? Btoh?

Monster Musume's world building has a massive hole in the center. It's all about monsters introducing themselves to society after being hidden away, but it never even explains how or why they were hidden. Sometimes it seems outright impossible. There are lots of female only species, what did their interaction with mankind look like before? How do you kidnap hundreds of men to sustain a village secretly?

Most will either not change the body or only change it a little, others will warp it quite a bit. They're not outright evil, but they're dangerous because of the whole possession and difficulty relating to physical existence.Elementals are metaphysically speaking earthbound daimons. Their "body" is literally the element they're tied to—fire, earth, water, air, the classic elements—but alchemists can make them a singular body and coax them into it with magic. The bodies depend on the skill of the craftsmanship and the will of the elemental themselves, they range from very inhuman to almost indistinguishable. And some are made very attractive because there are perverts in-universe as one might expect, but people tend to look at them pretty derisively if they speak too openly about that kind of thing.That's my setting, although it's still very much in its infancy at this point.

>>98414641I tend towards favoring science fiction/science fantasy stuff, so Monster Girl Encyclopedia isn't too useful of a basis for me since it's mainly fantasy focused with a handful of modern day or slightly further magitech.On said topic of scifi settings using Monstergirls, I do have to wonder who is the based as hell motherfucker that add biological and cybernetic augmentations that can create catgirls, centaurs, lamia, mermaids, and more into Battletech. Considering the 80s aesthetic it's got over a good chunk of the timeline meaning that one of the likelier encounters is pic related's Puma Sisters?I was already invested because of the Combined Arms and Mecha. I was utterly unprepared for this and love it.
