Historically speaking DND simply doesn't get Werewolfs... okay let's break this down.

So in DND Werewolf is curse, you get bit by Werewolf, you become Werewolf. But this isn't how Werewolf worked historically at all.

Werewolf is hereditary! You're born either Werewolf or you're not...

Secret to Werewolf is it's literally metaphor for Drunk Killing. Sometimes you have a Killer Drunk gene... you get drunk, you get angry, you pick up GreatAx and literally slice guy in half!

Why Moon? Simple, you drink only at night, Moon comes out only at night... ever wonder why it's called Moonshine? Moon for Werewolf is metaphor for ALCOHOL!

Anyone can be Werewolf just like anyone can have Killer Drunk gene... so that's the real metaphor for Werewolf, you don't know who is Werewolf, you don't know who has Killer Drunk gene... anyone can drink and get angry and pick up GreatAx to slice everyone in half...

You understand now?

The modern incarnation of werewolfs are based off the 1940s wolfmam movie, which was a clear message about addiction.

'''wolfman''' is too woke. what's wrong with werewolves and wifwolves?

Honestly, making werewolves "historically accurate" is kind of an exercise in futility, considering how hundreds of different cultures all across the world have legends about people who turn into wolves or similar animals (foxes in Asia, hyenas in Africa, etc) with all kinds of different rules.
