We all should only play duelist kingdom rules. They are the only based ones. What most CCG fagots forget is that the original duel monsters was made to be basically another simple game. Bitching that it is unfair is like bitching that you rolling dice with your friend and getting a lower number is unfair. It was a a simple analog game to replace the literal game of dice and other simple analog games. Bitching that you can not special summon a tuner from your library and use 2 tuner monsters to search your library is modern CCG cancer that the game was never build around. The rules are actually very interesting as you automatically lose the game if you can not summon a monster etc. The only thing that is unbalanced is that no monster requires tributes. Meaning that you can literally summon the most powerful monsters from your hand on turn 1. The only thing I change is A) Make it all random basically everyone gets to pick from random cards of a common pool to construct a deck only for this event (get 3 cards pick not to keep repeat until you have a full deck)B) introduce tribute summons
>>98446818Pegasus has Relinquished he can beat Ritual Summons even without Tribute Summon restrictions
>>98446899He can probably beat Jaden's Elemental HERO deck too because neither of these 2 duelist made it to his Top 5 all-time rankings unlike Joey Wheeler
>>98446901Are Xyz Summons intentionally named after their obvious inspiration which came from Kaiba's alternative Fusion Summon which was Machine-Type?
>>98446907I believe that even some Pendulum Monsters aren't extremely overpowered especially considering that Malefic Blue-Eyes White Dragon saved the old archetype from being phased out from the meta
>>98446914The only mistake that Yu-Gi-Oh| made is not replacing VRAINS with a crossover where Jack Atlas would've travelled back in time from 5D's to GX just like Paradox from that movie
>>98446818Reminder that the target audience of YGO is 5-10 year old boys. Playing this game is the equivalent of jumping the fence of a kindergarten to make sand castles with the children.
>>98446988How about the plot twist theory about the entirety of Yu-Gi-Oh! being completely created by Kaiba's childhood imagination inside the orphanage where he was actually 5-10 years old?
>>98446818Yugiboomers are genuinely worse than gen 1 pokemonfags.
>>98447099Because millenials are the majority in Yu-Gi-Oh! but not in Pokemon
>>98446988>Reminder that the target audience of YGO is 5-10 year old boys.Meanwhile at your role playing session: https://youtu.be/1XALVTzMOeQ?t=4
my kid got into the manga. bought him the battle city speed duel boxes and its been fun. i remember watching battle city and enjoying it so it was a good buy imo. better than letting them get into the tcg proper imo
>>98446818>thou shalt not bitch that it's unfair>*bitches that it's unfair*>>98447099At least genwunners played their game, yugiboomers arguments all hinge on imaginary rules they swear were the "correct way", or on complaining about "modern design issues" that were present since release.
>>98446988>Reminder that the target audience of YGO is 5-10 year old boys.LOL daily reminder that trying to explain how the game works to someone who dose not understand the concept will look like this:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_DeIExLcURQThis is made up nonsense for distraction. However this is how CCG looks like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3AyjIFiR9EQFor realhttps://youtu.be/WfkKOPsUK3Q?t=670https://youtu.be/WfkKOPsUK3Q?t=772https://youtu.be/WfkKOPsUK3Q?t=1060(start making notes)
Duelist Kingdom Rules>Each Player starts with 5 cards>Each player starts with 2000LP>Each player can only play 1 monster per turn, unless they are the same name (using the same summon spell to call for more of that monster)>Spell cards can be activated on any turn>Trap cards are just like spell cards, but they require triggers to be activated>if a player has no monsters during any combat phase, he loses>if a player has a monster and the oponnent has at least one, he must attack it>if a monster is destroyed by a card effect, the controller take damage equal to half its ATK>if a player has 0LP or less, he losesThose were the basics on top of my head
It sounds fun until you get to playground rules bullshit yugi pulled like "I attack the moon to destroy the ocean" or "I multiply kuribo and cause them to self destruct".
>>98448633I think the Speed Duel boxes are really the best way to play this game. No cancerous plays or endless money sinking and noone has to bring his own cards and worryabout tiers.I think they are way more enjoyable than the current formats.
>>98453690>>if a player has a monster and the oponnent has at least one, he must attack itYea lets ignore that one.>>if a player has no monsters during any combat phase, he losesNot sure about that one.>>Each player starts with 2000LPLets go with 8000
>>98453803>endless money sinkingFun fact to counter the "I will literally not give my name" """"professor""""(not real professor) form Tolarian Community College.Basically when I was a kid MTG got banned at our school. Not because it is le satan-ism or le violent or le evil. It was because the cards cost shit loads of money and one kid got his stolen. It is incredible how shills like "I will literally not give my name" ignore the fact that these card games are insanely overpriced cardboard who on top of that are distributed in the most exploitative way possible as randomized booster packs. This means either you fork over lots of money to buy lots of boosters or you buy the cards directly and this costs money. Like no one talks about that! outside of the yu-gi-oh community no one talks how exploitative these games are. You get the joke bout the hard of the wallet in yu-gi-oh however MTG is silent on this subject. And MTG is by far the worse system where your boosters also have worthless lands meaning that your booster is filled with literally useless shit. And these games can be refactored to be far more fun. For example mix all cards together give 5 to one player he chose 1 to keep and repeat that to get a full deck. After play the cards go together back in the box.
>>98446818>We all should only play duelist kingdom rules. They are the only based ones.I have been saying this for years. most fun you will ever get is buying those classic booster packs and each player builds a deck with a couple of them
>>98446901>unlike Joey Wheelernever ceases to amaze me how this literal hack stumbled his way to the top. his dueling skills are literally on par with anzu
>>98454011>I have been saying this for yearsMY MAN!>each player builds a deck with a couple of themHere is a even more extreme idea take some cards or boosters, make a 40 card deck.Don't even look at what cards you have. All players do the same. The game starts, have fun once you die play again and figure out WTF even your deck is. And duelist kingdom is perfect you never get a deck with a not good or impossible mana curve. If you have a big monster play it!Friendly fun idea to do with friends! Next time!
>>98454049unfortunately my friends aren't creative enough for this kind of shit. also I'm dirt poor and can't afford a box of boosters simply for a fun one-off
>>98453964I love Final Fantasy for how much it made this faggot seether, after he himself bought Dr Who even.
>>98454297Continuing from >>98453964There is always using a printer to print the cards >Wait how does that wor....1) Ask some MTG fags to give you 100 or so land cards they do it for free2) Use a printer to print the official Yu-Gi-Oh cards3) use a Sleeves to combine the MTG land and printed out cards on copy paperCongratulations you can now play the game. Also great for inventing your own games. These things are called PROXIES. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YwqxBFkxB8o
>>98447099>>98450180I fully understand modern yugioh and it's one of the worst games I've ever seen. it's power-crept to all hell and if you can't FTK or OTK you lose, and most decks immediately explode if you go rogue and run something to negate effects or stop special summons, be it hand traps or otherwise, which has led to me gaining victory through my opponent rage quitting several times.
>>98454800Just say you hate playing vintage MtG, and let us laugh at you for being a fag.
>>98454904I don't play MtG.
>>98453690I don't remember any of those rules. My only recollection is that direct attacks weren't allowed and that Magic cards had to be set before being activated and both of those rules are idiotic.
>>98454800>if you go rogue and run something to negate effects or stop special summons>floodgates>rogueoh no no no
>>98447099>>98450180Pretty much.It might be possible to make a nostalgia-based format with a bunch of custom cards and rules changes to fix up issues, but the most of the people who claim to want such a thing don't actually play any TCG enough to actually design that. They're operating off of vague memories from the anime and have never even tried to sit down and playtest those old rules to see if they actually enjoy it.
>>98455401I'm making my own ccg because I started down the nostalgia format pipeline and kept going
Why dose /tg/ never talk about proxies?
>>98454938The biggest rule was that you can literally play any monster and do not have to tribute anything.
>>98455678Way ahead of you! What if a CCG however instead of having the same stale deck every game the game is more about innovative game plays and different-ish cards you play? Basically adapt to the situation?
>>98446818So Battle City rules then? I can get behind that. I miss playing Yugioh as it was supposed to be played.
>>98454776that's... actually a really good idea, holy fuck why did I never consider this?
>>98446818>you automatically lose the game if you can not summon a monsterNo you've literally got that backwards. You weren't allowed to attack directly and basically could just stall to win if you really wanted to. Anyone with a brain could have easily won in Duelist Kingdom
>>98461474it was stated that if you end your turn with no monster you auto lose. stalling always cost at least one monster and wasn't all that viable
Quick Pegasus edit before the thread slides.
>>98461474I don't think it was ever explicitly stated, but it's the only thing that explains why characters kept summoning face down defense position monsters that served no purpose other than getting blown the fuck out by the opponent big boss monster
>>98458608
>>98453964Why are you "countering" the professor when responding to that dude?
>>98453690also, giant soldier of stone can destroy the moon which defeats sea creatures
