Concentration is a good mechanic because it makes combat faster and doesn't let it devolve to a prebuffing fest.

Ok

Crazy thought: why not correct the math so players don't feel the need to sit there wringing out every buff they can before battle? Maybe if a mere bandit captain didn't have average 52hp letting them tank 3 direct blows from a claymore wielded by one of the strongest barbarians to ever have lived, players wouldn't feel the need to video game the system?

Combat already only lasts about 2 to 3 turns.

You want it to be over in 1 to 2?
>>
>>98446986
5e didn't go far enough with concentration, there are a bunch of stray utility spells that probably should be concentration, but aren't.
Longstrider, Aid, Mirror Image, etc.

Yes.
"I weapon your HitPoints" is the least interesting part of any RPG session.
Go play a skirmish wargame.
That goes double for every time I have to slog through an encounter that stands no real chance of killing or really harming a player, but is solely there as one of multiple minor resource-drains before the gang reaches the 'boss encounter'.
Make them one-round 'combats', narrate/dictate what it costs the party, then actually make some fucking story progress in the session.

Have you tried not playing D&Dogshit?

Get a load of this faggot

Soft agree. A lot of dungeoncrawling is fully deterministic and contains no decisionmaking (and therefore no gameplay). If it can be automated, it probably shouldn't be in the game that much.

Only if your DM runs shit encounters with zero challenge.

Then stop playing tabletop games faggot, it sounds like all you want is play by post on a forum somewhere.

>>98447180

what causes this behavior?

It also doesn't take into account the very basic thought of a second caster in the multi-person adventuring party.
>>
>>98446986
Limiting pre-buffing is nice, but there are so many spells that are simply no longer worth using at all because they can't compete for your only Concentration slot.
>>
>>98446986
The lads at the gaming den had the right idea of limiting the amount of buffs to your level. So a 5th level character can only have a 3rd level buff and a 2nd level buff.

Pipe down when the GameCHADS are speaking, you pleb.
