How would I go about making a semi anonymous document to share with you guys?

if the sharing is the problem then gofile let's you share files without having a account

if the file itself has traces of your identity then there are "cleaners" in the share thread that you can send stuff to, but you'd have to ask the anons there because i haven't done that in a while (because i don't care if my name is in the meta data somewhere)

>>
>>98452655
I think V6's problems are too fundamental in the core rules to properly fix, and given that the Paradox devs are their own kind of problem-glasses women-and-queers, I'm willing to be money that they're too insecure and defensive to take lore critiques to heart, and will stay the course to vindicate themselves.
That being said, I'm still gonna give feedback that might make V6 stay the way it as a frankenstein's monster of an edition, because I need the V5 defenders to remain unsatisfied so they feel what the rest of us have been for the past decade.
>>
>>98452655
i did the short one because we only did a oneshot so far, but it really didn't change my mind from what i had when i was reading it

clan traits as clan merits that have age options are a cool idea, but taking powers that been disicpline powers from it is not the right way to do it

vitae is awful

discipline been okay at least as a lasombra

the new humanity system looks like it's going to break at some point in a longer game but i don't care to play a playtest for that long for free

What's the Dark Medieval world like? Just the hollywood/victorian interpretation of the middle ages, or are there more things to consider when running a game in it?
>>
Okay, so Prime 1 Consecration. That shit supposedly makes things part of your Pattern. This is also meant to be an in-universe explanation of why you can Teleport/Step Sideways/Polymorph without immediately going fucking naked, as things you have ownership of gradually get infected with your Resonance and start counting as part of your Pattern.

So, does this theoretically let you bypass Life/Matter requirements on Correspondence Effects? Can you make a Correspondence 3/Prime 2 (3?) rote to Consecrate a mf from across the city and then yoink him to yourself or force a target to get teleported along with you?
>>
>>98452778
yeah especially given that you can't raise vitae above 11+ stamina and can't reduce damage below 1 with generation

Is there seriously no single decent resource for existing Fetishes out there?
There's a few for homebrew games, there's disparate onyx path forums discussing them, but there's seriously no actual combined resource. There should be, some of these are actually decent. Although the theurgical hypocrisy with some of these methods are strange

Why do the Ventrue's Neonate traits only affect their Dominate? Don't they consider using Dominate to be like, a weakness, the tactic of cowards who can't convince people normally? Shouldn't they have, I don't know, literally anything related to the Ventrue sticking together or being the top dogs of Vampire Society? Maybe some social factors in this social game?
>>
>>98453032
I've tried to figure that out myself, but at the end of the day there's no straight answer.

Your best bet is skimming Axis Mundi for ideas and also keeping track of all the collateral your group causes in cause some of it ought to please/anger a given type of spirit. A Net Spider might appreciate a reorganization the mismanaged archive you hacked into, a racoon spirit would love to make a new home in whichever corp office you just turned into a landfill.
>>
>>98453047
why do all the lasombra neonate traits need oblivion when it's now a optional discipline?

because it's a unfinished barely thought out system that exists only because of a missreading of lore of clans
>>
>>98453032
there sadly isn't a really interesting answer vampire and mage just say vitae and quint and call it a day

and werewolf the book that should work the hardest to flesh it out just kinda doesn't
>>
>>98453047
If I had to pull a justification out of my ass? A Ventrue neonate is a cudgel for its sire, a bootlick and a masquerade mop. Dominate is their bread and butter.

>>
>>98453055
Realistically just paying in Quint/Vitae only evens out the cost to the spirit unless you're feeding them a fully-charged Node's worth of that shit.

You really should need to earn the spirit's favor, force it into subservience, trick it into compliance, or make a beneficial deal for a Fetish.
>>
>>98453066
kolduns have a weird investment system where they only have to pay 1 blood point for the spirit's loyalty but as long as they have the blood point invested in the spirit their maximum is reduced by 1

and they can end this at any point which also ends their contract with the spirit
>>
>>98453032
Varies greatly, each spirit is unique and will ask something important like an object or a favor to it to be persuaded to be bound to a fetish. It could be a rare gem, some soil from a powerful caern, the meaning of life, beating up a naturae who said it looked like a bane, etc…

Anon, the guidelines for making fetishes are in the "Hammer & Klaive" supplement for Werewolf.
The Guidelines for the different kinds od spirits are in Axis Mundi, Velvet Shadow, and Book of Madness(yes, 2 out of 3 of these are mage books)
>>
>>98453051
>because it's a unfinished barely thought out system that exists only because of a missreading of lore of clans
Which is an even greater insult because V20 "Lore of the Clans" is a barely coherent cliffsnotes version of the actual clanbook lore, that also retcons or straight-up forgets a lot of shit central to each clan.
The writers are playing a perpetual game of telephone with whatever they skim off one book from the last edition instead of sitting down and actually sitting down to read the lore. Why the fuck are these idiots still getting paid???
>>
>>98453166
As these threads have shown, 'skimming off prior editions and running off with your headcanon' seems to be how literally every WoD player works to begin with, and the devs are still WoD players.
>>
>>98453151
Axis Mundi and Velvet Shadow are both Werewolf books, though

>>98453171
The devs outright say you should, “what is canon is what your table think it’s canon” is basically what the golden rule included in every core rulebook is
>>
>>98453171
>skimming off prior editions and running off with your headcanon
Anon my problem with whitewolf writers is they skim Edition.
As in singular.
As in they only read V20 lore at best and/or are more familiar with the LARP scene than actual tabletop.
They did not read the clanbooks, the sect guides, the misc supplements.

I could pick a random anon off the thread and 80% his headcanon would be a fucking masterpiece compared to the nuwolf sloppa, because many anons here actually fucking read some of the books(if barely).

Until they have at least hinted at being willing to retcon everything V5/W5/H5 did, there actually is no way V6 won't be shit. The game is like 90% fluff and oWoD survived nWoD despite the former largely being considered mechanically inferior solely on that fluff, and gWoD just doesn't cut it - the only reason it even ever pulled in any people was because it's wearing oWoD like a skinsuit.

Joachim Moses is the Marble Prince of Miami. Created circa 1200 in the Bohemian margraviate of Moravia, Moses spent the next 300 years in the loyal and willing service of the Tremere, being a non-participant in the 1476 Gargoyle Revolt lead by Virstania, the eponymous mother of gargoyles. It was only following the Montmartre Pact of 1489 and the formal cessation of the Anarch Revolt at the Convention of Thorns 1493 that Moses circa 1500 crushed the head of his Tremere master and left the Madrid chantry; first to travel to Constantinople and then Alexandria, Cairo, down the Nile River, across the Congo Basin, to set sail from Kinshasa for the New World.

It was during the voyages of the slave ship Nassau that he befriended its Jewish owner, Rabbi Isaac Levy, and was given the name Joachim, taking the surname of Moses for himself. After the ship was lost with all hands outside the coast of Trinidad Moses spent the next half-century travelling the coastlines and jungles of the Carribbean and the Gulf of Mexica, eventually settling near the Mayaimi tribe of Lake Okeechobee and the nascent Spanish colony of Biscayne Bay circa 1600. When Pablo Verhoeven arrived as part of the Cuban mission in 1743 and established Biscayne as a diocese of the Sabbat, Moses did not involve himself despite overtures, and remained an autarkis fixture for centuries, refusing all participation in the Jyhad.

This lasted until these final nights of the 1900's. In cooperation with the Sheriff Samedi, Moses intervened in the apparent conflict between Pablo Verhoeven and his alleged childe, Benito de Riviera, when the so-called Lasombran Kinwar threatened to involve the entire region and result in a catastrophic masquerade breach, tempting Camarillan intervention. Following the chaos, Joachim Moses found himself the Prince of a highly eclectic demesne.

• Being paradoxically both one of the oldest Princes in America as well as the youngest by regency, he expects deference from age, but is at the same time denied it due to his bloodline, tenuous position, and perceived inexperience.
• He considers himself a man of order and principle, who will act magnanimous and charitable with one hand but strike down mercilessly against threats to his authority and breeches of the Traditions with the other.
• Although he does not necessarily act on it, he harbors a cold hatred against all Tremere, and will likely judge all Tremere harsher than any other, and find faults in any of their actions, if possible.
• He harbors little ill-will against any other clan, and would not care about the Sabbat if not for their penchant for truly inhuman acts; his position as part of the Camarilla is almost entirely out of convenicence and realism rather than conviction, but he also recognizes that there is no going back.
• He is even-tempered and stone-faced at nearly all times, with an aura of unshakeable constancy, but will unleash his Beast in violent fits of relentless rage when pushed or when he perceives himself irreconcilably wronged.
• His friendship with the Sheriff Samedi is enduring and genuine, having known eachother far longer than anyone suspects.
• Secretly, he has a somewhat romantic relationship with the harpy Kyleena, who also serves as his secretary, personal assistant, and gatekeeper.
• He maintains an inordinately large amount of ghouls throughout southern Miami, possibly several dozen, belonging to a "Cult of the Dragon". These are rarely fed in person, relying on extractions of vitae delivered via courier and dead-drops. No-one else knows of this and Moses himself does not value them on a personal level at all.
• He is of exceptionally low generation even for a Gargoyle, having cut an amaranthine swathe throughout his travels.
• He spends every day atop his downtown high-rise as statue.

Why is "Neonate" considered a strength-level? It can make sense to gate things behind generation, because it is a literal measurement of how thick the vitae runs in a given vampire, whether you ascribe this to Caine or whatever, but "Neonate" is literally just a social title based on cultural convention - conventions that are regularly not even adhered to.

Like why the fuck would you have to be recognized as ancilla in order to have an Imposing Physique? It's like saying that Arnold Schwarzenegger should not have been allowed to be a successful body builder before he became senator.

Do they give this shit any thought at all or consider how this fits together with the world that is being depicted at all before they just string words together?

Subcultures involved tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of individuals essentially collaborating across vast swathes of the world, communicating openly, taking influences from eachother, and they still formed and dissipated slowly. The comparison is absurd.
>they knew each other because thinblood alchemy encouraged meeting up and sharing recipies which caused them to have their own circles and culture seperate from the real full blooded kindred
They should barely even be able to find eachother! Also, "thinblood alchemy" is stupid
>we have reached the point where they are now doing the same with V fucking 5
I wonder if we're working our way to a reverse-singularity scenario, with people having lower and lower attention span until they actually break down. We are now at the point where developers supposedly dedicated to a game cannot even be bothered to keep their attention focused over a body of work 5 years old and a single edition removed from what they are working on. Truly grim.

So if I'm reading this (and C20 itself) right, this sequence is valid?
>Step 1: Pick Kinain (-1 Difficulty to target yourself)
>Step 2: Be one a Kith whose affinity Realm (another -1) is Actor (covers most non-Fae creatures except for Wraiths - including you, as mostly human)
>Step 3: Get Time 1 with one of your starting Realm dots (Thrice-Fold: Triples the length of a Cantrip in exchange for +1 Difficulty)
>Step 4: Get the Merits "Because I Know I Can" (Only lose Willpower spent on a roll if you fail, so long as it's 6+ Diff - the base for Cantrips is 8) and "Art Affinity" (-1 on a specific Cantrip Art - Kinain only get 1 to start instead of the usual 3 anyway)
>Step 5: Spend your single starting Art dot on Dragon's Ire 1 (Burning Thew: Successes are split between giving increased Strength dots and the turns it lasts, and doesn't cost Glamour innately)
>Step 6: Consistently roll at either Diff 5-6 at base (or lower, with appropriate Bunk stunts), and get like 6 turns of bench-pressing a car from only 2 successes

the blood magic v5 book had them and other blood sorcerers (yes they been put together) have dozens of cults and global circles of fellow "red workers" with black markets and job listings and all all over the world despite schrecknet collapsing and the SI still going on

I wouldn't call it "in full view of the public". It is at the top of a high-rise, in an austere stone garden. Even if someone were to see him in the distance he'd be a speck. Worst-case scenario some cattle nobody notices the statue being there during the day and then sees it gone at night.

Even if they by some miracle see him get up and leave, it's one of those "No-one will ever believe you" scenarios.

I SUMMON FROM BEYOND THE SHROUD ALL WRAITH FANS TO GATHER YOUR WISDOM. All 6 anyways.
Is Wraith20 really THAT bad compared to Revised? I've read some comments say it messes with the bleak depressing tone, and a couple powers are more costly, but it doesn't seem to be anywhere near the shitshow M20 is.

W20 is fine. I dont want any game to get too bleak otherwise you're just a grouo of dudes sitting around table feeling suicidal & that might feel cathartic in your teens/early twenties, but shit takes a different tone in your middle years
>>
>>98453556
it is nowhere near the shitshow that is m20 that is true and having a chapter that makes orpheus compatible with wraiths was a nice little surprise bonus but it is also opposite of an improvement on every other part where it tries to change anything

wraiths are in general weaker, the setting is less unique and bleak and same with the society that your wraith exists in

if m20 is a 1/10 book then wraith is a low 4/10 book for me because it just does not justify it's existence

I'm not going to defend LARPers here, but I don't think that's it. There's no inherent reason why LARPers would divorce mechanics and narrative in the way that V5/V6 does, and the issue of narrative-mechanical congruence is something we see countless modern writers struggle with across almost the entire industry. It's endemic and I have a hard time believing that it's due to LARPing.

Can relate, you'll do anything for those little buggers. Just became a parent myself and the gf and I both decided one is enough. I see. So if I give revised and whichever supplements I use a read for the mood and maybe add a few dice to a wraith's powers it should be alright? I don't think it's too hard to make an afterlife of bureaucracy hell where the bricks are made of people and buildings are ruins built on top of ruins which you make so other wraiths don't turn you into said bricks and money. >I see. So if I give revised and whichever supplements I use a read for the mood and maybe add a few dice to a wraith's powers it should be alright?
wraith has no revised edition it's really just one book
it's less about dice and more about what those powers can do + some weird changes like risen being weaker and more limited in what powers they can use

and spectre cults but those really been broken

i would recommend reading through the both arcanoi sections and decide which ones you like more

> I don't think it's too hard to make an afterlife of bureaucracy hell where the bricks are made of people and buildings are ruins built on top of ruins which you make so other wraiths don't turn you into said bricks and money.
that's one of the things that wto20 downplays in comparision to old wraith because suddently there is quite a bit of non soulforged material around and not just stuff like plasmic that people would need to venture out to farm no actual material

>I just really like having the convenience of everything in one place
that's the very thing that bothers me about w20 it's not all that much more than the previous corebook. wraith only had one edition and while yes wto20 also has stuff like orpheus (which was a different game) and risen (which previously just been one other supplement book) in the corebook that's kinda all it has rules wise that wasn't in the previous corebook

wraith isn't as small as dtf or the limited runs in cofd but it's also not a giant gameline like vtm, wta or mage or even ctd

i think there might be more kote books than wraith

Im gonna try not to go on a Tremere glazing rant, but in all honesty these fucking retards destroyed the Pyramid because they literally cannot understand on a fundamental level why the Pyramid existed in the first place, how the Pyramid actually functions, nor how you can have freedoms within the structure that exists. They wanted fun blood magic with no structure or intitution & thats it. They thought "but I want to be a Wiccan vampire girl who reads old books with her ghouled cat & they visit the Blood Magic Market & treat it like a crafts mall/farmers market. Meanwhile the entire point of vampire, let alone the Tremere is that power comes with strings. You have to do favors for Elders, risk bloodbonds, & everything else just to get normal disciplines. Let alone find blood magic. Theres the evil snake cult that "good" people would stay away from, the clan of assassins that hated other vampires, the creepy old Clan living in the middle of nowhere, & then the Tremere. The Tremere hold on to Thaumaturgy with an iron grip because its the one thing that helps legitimize them against older & more numerous Clans.

>The Tremere hold on to Thaumaturgy with an iron grip because its the one thing that helps legitimize them against older & more numerous Clans.
Not just that, but the Chantry provides an incredible resource for a Tremere player to take advantage of. A haven, resources, logistics, lore & history, expertise, etc. The price you pay for all that is an abusive family and whatever tasks or boons your storyteller wants to push on you. Not only that but if you encounter something of imminent interest to the Camarilla's interests the Tremere will blow the fucking doors off with C4 and storm the place if they feel like it. Modern writers screech about the Chantry as if it's 'fascist' but don't pay a thought to the fact that it works both ways: Lick the right boots and they stomp someone else's face.

That's still not the Circle, though. This is the Circle:

>The Chase brings with it a feeling of elation, a sort of wild, fierce joy. I can feel the dappled moonlight filtering through the leaves onto my skin. I can hear the animals go silent as I pass nearby; I like to imagine the sad papery sound of death, of flowers withering away instantly as I brush past them. I can feel my hot, iron-heavy breath coming in heavy gasps — unnecessary breath, born of a reflex, some remembered race-memory from before I was even living, as if the beast from which I evolved could only return to me after I died, after I had ceased to be human. I can feel my blood burning, the needle-sharp points of my teeth against the tip of my tongue. And the fear, too. A sense of absolute terror, always, the feeling that it’s a dangerous thing, that any of us could end up completely destroyed, become the next victim, if not of the quarry, of the thing inside. It’s wonderful.
>I almost fall headlong into the hollow, tripping over a root, but landing, hands splayed, legs sprung on the bare earth. Our quarry has fallen — the root clearly got him. He’s on the ground in the hollow, crying like a child. The sole of one of his ridiculous boots has come away and he’s too scared to know quite how much it hurts, that he wouldn’t be walking away on that ankle even if I let him go. Half of his ponytail has come loose. I can see the others catching up out of the corner of my eye, and they’re hungry too. But this is my first Chase, and what happens next is up to me. (cont.)

>He’s managed to turn over. He’s pleading with me. Begging. He’s saying, “I didn’t mean it. Please. I didn’t mean it.” He doesn’t really believe it, doesn’t believe who I am, even now. The ring in his nose has been ripped out, and the blood is running down over his mouth into his goatee. I hate him so much. I’m enjoying the feeling of breathing so much. My hands are flexing like claws. “I take it back,” he says, between sobs. “Please, I take it back. Please. Please don’t. You’re not faking. You’re real, you’re real. Just, please, please don’t. Please.”
>I start to laugh. “You wanted the real deal. You want to see the Goddess? Here she is. And she’s hungry.”
>The others, all around us, begin to sing. It’s not an old song but it sounds old.
>Nobody who cares hears him screaming.
>>
>>98454507
Exactly. I was trying to avoid going too deep, but exactly that. A Tremere is SAFE with the Chantry & as long as you dont make yourself expendable they will circle the wagons to protect you. And the Chantry is the absolute best source of plot hooks for an ST. Want some plot to be discovered? Have an Elder give them some grunt work to look into some issue. Player wants to learn something? Well go here, do xyz & maybe ill take you on as apprentice. It frustrates me to no end that these people hate the Tremere for unironic reasons. Like, I can understand hating Tremere players who only want to play backstabbing dicks who want nothing to do with the Chantry & just want OP blood magic, but those players are ultimately no different than the V5 writers who also want blood magic & nothing to do with the Chantry. You can hate the Tremere for "in game" reasons & I will happily trade bants with Hermetics & Tzimisce, & ever kindred in-between. Its fun. But to hate them because of their culture, to just vehemently destroy them for "fascism" is asinine. These people cannot understand the Pyramid. Occasionally I get players who dont understand it either til I show them. Its why I say "those who get crushed by the Pyramid, deserve it"

Cool. Now can you please explain to me how all that isn't already covered by having a Sire, sect, or vampire population in the city in general?
>>
>>98454364
You know, I wonder if the real villains of this story are the girls that just want all the power with none of the responsibility. Never in history people like that ended up being good. People threat these like idiots, who they're psychopath. If they were vampires they would be one of the worse ones because they would be part of the burocracy will never doing any work themselves yet holding a lot of power and never being accountable for anything.

Anyway, the Tremere are just the least fucked here. Other clans like toreador, ventrue have been forever forgotten at this point.

>Now can you please explain to me how all that isn't already covered by having a Sire, sect, or vampire population in the city in general?
NTA, but trust. Not in the passive benevolent kind of way but in the hardline or-else sort of way. You can be fucked but always out in the open and by a set of rules because every lick in the Chantry can be monitored 24/7 and blood-bonded up to their eyeballs.

Women hate accountability.

>>98454722

Youre Sire may screw you over, but he wont screw over the Chantry. If you operate with that in mind you'll be fine. Theres a third party involved that wont tolerate him being weak or worthless any more than they would tolerate YOU being weak or worthless.

Meanwhile other clans simply dont have that level of interconnected accountability. Another clan or sect has no real loyalty to itself multiple Clans & Sects fall to infighting & betrayal constantly. While an individual Tremere might be sacrificed upon its altar, the Pyramid endures. The only clans that come close to that kind of group loyalty are those that suffer exploitable issues like the Nosferatu.

So i've been off down a historical wargaming groghole for months and only just heard about the new edition. Whats the issue this time? it almost sounds like they are erasing V5 and trying to bring back audiences put off by the attempt to shave all the edges off but then that could also be wishful think larping from the crowd upset the 1488 dice were removed.

Whats your take on the new edition and its changes?

>>98455041
You had actual magic but squandered it for immortality with the caveat of not being able to enjoy life.
God you're dumb
>>
>>98455091
this time i think the rules are just too awful to play with

the vitae system is hillariously bad: vitae is also your hp+ disciplines cost their rank in vitae to use and we have 6+ disciplines again + you cant raise it to be above 10 + stamina in any way the new humanity system is also very weird with two meters that you can both fill and being too humane also weakens your character and turns them into a npc

and some powers that used to just be discipline powers and merits are now clan locked
>>
>>98455091
Could be interesting but like the issue is they're clearly flailing around and not bringing back in the old creative who made these games so good. Like you can FIND THEM just don't get Brucato.

Not to mention that Tremere's magic was fading and he was dying. You can either become immortal and recoup your magical powers, or become a powerless muggle on his deathbed.
>>
>>98455194
>>98455099
Being Tremere means being able to turn just about anyone into a sorcerer with access to the easiest, most prolific, & powerful fuel source for magic that exists. No awakenings needed. There are also avenues within the bounds of blood sorcery that allow you to usurp other powers as well. Will a Tremere ever find ascension? No. But how many hermetics ascend? There are also ways & means to mitigate the Kindred condition.
>>
>>98455196

I figure things are still going to be very subject to change so Im reserving any actual anger for the official release. So far I am just amused at how hard they back peddled from V5. I actually did like the Hecata though. Only issue was including the Nagaraja because they Tremere'd their way into vampirism by using Setite blood. All of V5 still happened. If you liked oWoD Carna or Theo Bell, they still changed, and are still different. The fluff advances are the worst of both worlds in that all the dumb lore of V5 happened, but the metaplot has progressed backwards, which triggers the hipster newfags.
Mechanically, it's very D&D-like, with clan [feats] I mean [merits] that only focus on 2/3 of a clan's aspects. Gangrel lost Protean but Tzimisce gained "Tellurgy".

I don't care about the in character reasons why the Pyramid is good for quests and shit. I mean out of character, from the perspective of putting a game together, in what way is the Pyramid able to provide plot hooks, drama, rewards, etc. that is not already covered just by having a sire, sect, or vampire population in the city?

In what way is
>Your superior in the Pyramid wants you to go do x and you'd better do it or else
better than
>The Sheriff wants you to go do x and you'd better do it or else

How is
>If you do xyz for your superior in the Pyramid he might teach you a new Thaumaturgy Path or ritual
in any way better than
>If you do xyz for that old Gangrel in the woods he might teach you a Discipline you don't know or a cool new combo discipline
>>
>>98456431
Look I fully agree that Sorcerers are cool as fuck & very powerful themselves. They can use just about all the same tricks as a Thaumaturge can. But it comes down to straight resources & the Kindred package is simply better than mortal. Do you have a node in your pocket? Because realistically theres no way for you to store vast amounts of mana, & access it quickly the way a vampire can. A vampire can store a lot of Vitae & it just gets better the higher Generation they go. They can drain enemies or thralls in the field, or bring a barrel full of tiny vitae infused beads. Hell, they can prep said barrel to be teleported via Translocation of thr Vessel/Apportation, so they dont even need to carry it with them. (Theres even more ways to access it too) Vampires also get access to Disciplines (yes Sorcerers can mimic 3 dots for a limited time, but its not nearly helpful as having 5+ dots that are always there

Sadly Sorcerers are ultimately mortal so theyre weak to violence, & Sorcerers use Mana, not Vitae. Ultimately Vitae wins. Its just too abundant. As for the Vampire weaknesses, you can protect against the sun & fire, so those weaknesses arent that bad in the long run. Even Mummies are better Sorcerers than Sorcerers. If a Mummy could get Disciplines, they would rival Tremere as the GOAT.
>>
>>98456510
Anon the point is that it exists parallel to those things and may even sometimes run contrary to them. It allows some wiggle room for your players to debate and decide whose ass to kiss and which baskets they should place their proverbial eggs. Sire and sect is all fine and dandy but mostly confined to one city, barring the intervention of a Justicar. The Pyramid is bigger and has ties to a global network of occultists and specialists that no Prince ever could access on their own. It's like asking what the Nosferatu can offer their own versus what the local Ivory Tower can offer. There's just some things Nossies can get internally that aren't easily tradeable commodities. Same goes with the Chantry.

The third party. Have you ever ran a military campaign or any game with people tied to an organization? The organization makes the rules, the players follow. A vampire not affiliated or beholden to an organization has the option to just fuck off. Your Sire breathing down your neck? The plot hook doesnt look enticing? Welp the player got bored & decided to sellout to the Sabbat/Anarchs, time to be murder hobos.

You conflate elements of Blood Sorcery and Being A Tremere and Being a Vampire.
>Being a vamp is better than a mortal
Sort of, yeah. But not without a lot of downsides, of course. Mortalkind wouldn't wipe out sorcerers if they found out. Probably. Neither do Sorcerers need to drink blood or shun the sun.
>Not all Sorcerers have a Node&Resources
All Sorcerers which are part of an organization can be expected to have one. When you talk about a tremere you implicity assume the clan-structure exists, including a chantry. This is a pre-requisite for learning sorcery efficiently, either way. So yes, we can assume the equivalent sorcerer to be with an organization that provides them a node and resources. How many resources and how accessible these are depends on the Org.
>Vitae can be prepped&stored via rituals and items
Yes. So can Mana, via sorcery rituals and items. An example is the classic mana potion, or an energy drink.

Generally speaking, I'd say that Sorcerers are better at magic than Tremere as I find their suggested rituals to be far scarier and more versatile than what Paths generally allow. On the other hand, a Tremere is far more dangerous than a Sorcerer, especially at the footsoldier level. Disciplines and Vampiric advantages are no joke - but at this point you might as well be any other type of Vampire..

Im not saying sorcerers arent awesome, but whatever a a sorcerer can do a Thaumaturge can do, usually cheaper & faster. So a Thaumaturge ends up being Sorcerer+

Like I said, Sorcery Paths are a lot more powerful than the equivalent Thaumathurgy Path. So it's really that Blood Sorcery is Sorcery-.
Comparing Sorcery Alchemy to Thaumathurgy leaves Thaumathurgy looking quite impotent, the same with comparing Path of Hellfire vs Lure of Flames or Elemental Summoning vs Summoning/Binding/Warding.

Ehhh, big "maybe". Some books say "no", the sorcery book says "ask your ST", some books say "you may use these paths with this merit". Also Sorcerers can learn Blood Magic that's not Path of Blood.
>Thaumaturgy is better, actually!
If I had to pick having Path of Blood 5 AND Path of Conjuring 5 vs S/W/B OR Alchemy OR Enchantment 5, I'd pick the Sorc Paths. There's some stinkier Sorc Paths and some better Vamp Paths, yes. But generally speaking a Sorc Path is just a combination of like 3+ different vamp paths.
>Bonus of being Vamp
Personally I would prefer being mortal, as aside from being harder to kill and immortal, Vampirism is pretty much all downsides. It's a curse with upsides that mostly let you deal with the fact you are accursed. Your emotions deaden, you can't eat, you can't go out into the sun, you have to drink blood, you have to deal with Vampire faggotry, fire fucks you over.. It's just bad, bad bad. It's pretty much only good for combat.
Admittedly, being hard to kill and immortal to boot is nice, but hardly worth it. I'd rather much use my sorcery to extend my lifespan somehow and retain my mortality. It's not like I want to fight anybody, that'd be retarded.

Depends on the exact type of monster minion, but the first thing that came to mind were Insatiate Alchemists from Promethean. Their skillset is perfect for augmenting mortal minions with their alchemy as well as making Pandorans to use as mindless attack dogs.
>>
>>98457081

There is one Bone Gnawer who killed the staff of fast food restaurant because those were easy to dismiss. That NPC was experimenting with cybernetics and later became a BSD.

Besides no, any time the garou end up killing civilians they are BSDs or it was some first change scenario.

Just spec Arcane and Obtenebration & Fortitude at three can give you shadow armor. So not only can you just hit them, jump into a shadow so they forget you, rinse & repeat. Itd be like fighting Skyrim NPCs. Plus if you had to stand & fight youd be getting Obtenebration+Fortitude+Stamina, add in some Necromancy if you want.

Or use ranged Do maneuvers with instant kill & Arcane.

Or somehow aquire King Arthur's Scabbard (Changeling Treasure), use Hellfire Sorcery or Demon Investure to make yourself immune to Fire & Cold damage, & either deal with what little bashing damage that could be a threat to you, or take a Demon Investure/Hardening Sign of Geb to be completely immune to Bashing. This will make you immune to Agg, Lethal, & Bashing. There might be something rather obscure that could kill you, mortals would need to worry about suffication/drowning, but for the most part youre immortal. Just dont drop the scabbard. Maybe convince your ST to make a ring or bracelet or tattoo with the same effect?
>>
>>98456896
>some books say "you may use these paths with this merit".
the rune wise merit is written so cumbersomely the merit MIGHT refer to the ability to power these mortal sorcery paths with blood instead of mana instead of being what let's you learn those paths in the first place ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ it's also admits that it's overpriced just for the rarity. wolves of the sea is not a very good book

there are also the MET books that has a crossover section that it claims to work also for the tabletop where it say that you can convert both sorcery and heaku into blood sorcery at a 3xp cost just like foreign blood sorcerer paths but i think it predated the revised blood sorcery book where the more commonly known version of that rule comes from
>>98455909
Tellurgy seems to be nature magic from the flavor text presumably mixed with chimerstry given that the ravnos have it
>>
>>98457360

I appreciate the advice you've given, but Obtenebration is only for the Lasombra and unfortunately I was trying to figure out how to survive clanless speaking. I think you can learn thamaturge from the Tremere but they do bullcrap like it's major boon or life boon in order to get it.

Changeling Treasures, Sorcerer book, and high level Daimonion also isn't really possible unless you count that one merit where you made a deal with a demon and the gm has the right to ruin your life later for your hubris.

If you have more advice please feel free to give it, but perhaps something with a restrictive gm? Like the type that'd probably tell a caitiff you can only take physical disciplines or ban any bloodline specific disciplines or other nerfing stuff.
>>
>>98456896

You can do whatever you want, ultimately though if you want a big bad who's badder than the Prince you're going to have to allow for the Prince to be incompetent enough to be manipulated. IMO
>Street Level more emotional game
Prince should be competent unless he's some sort of antagonist against the PCs, in which case some irony is good
>Camarilla higher level game
Should make him a LaCroix expy for the best experience, a mix of competent and incompetent
>Higher than that, continental/global/elder killing
Should allow the prince to be more obviously incompetent

Fortitude is the simple straight forward way. Also wearing armor. If youre not allowed special Disciplines then theres not really much else you can do to protect yourself. But more than using Fortitude in defense, Celerity ends fights before you get hurt.
>>
>>98457470
>or can I deploy a Prince who is competent, rational, and even dangerously empathic towards (but still subtly manipulating) my PCs?

Absolutely. The only hurdle you have there is that stable princes require the plot to not revolve around them. The threat is either beneath their notice, above their paygrade, or something even a competent Prince would otherwise not notice.

The alternative is that the Prince is aware of the threat to a limited capacity, and serves as the PC's quest giver, rewarding them with station, resources, and territory in exchange for their service.

Played in a game where our first Prince was an unstable, short sighted, but dastardly manipulative vampire we had to depose. And the second was a stable and competent Prince (as well as my PC's adoptive sire), so naturally the plot shifted from climbing to playing defense for "our city". It can definitely work under the right circumstances.

I'm incredibly uninspired, so the setting is roughly late-summer/early-autumn in 2004 and the threat is supposed to be a low-gen Malkavian LARPing as Caine as the Final Nights get closer, which is throwing Savannah, Georgia into a fervor even beyond acting as a Camarilla sanctuary against the Sabbat in Atlanta. Other problems is the growing state of unrest in the Anarchs as the Red Question circulates, and infrequent, but dangerous, incursions of the Sabbat from Atlanta. With all of that going on, I really want a stable, level-headed Camarilla leader, but I don't want them to be "good" or "noble". Rather, I simply want them to be incredibly competent, and actively using the PCs as resources necessary to keep Savannah under Camarilla control without ceding territory to the Anarchs or the Sabbat, and without losing more members as paranoia about Caine starts to take hold.

You do you, all characters are different, and everyone does the manipulation part anyway.

That seems good, but you'll have the type of Cam guy who's more worried about his subjects than actually going after the problem I think. This is good though, as it leaves the meat of the problem solving to the PCs with occasional backup from the Prince
>>
>>98457573
My utilitarian solution then?

Prince is a Ventrue. Old, but not so old he/she's gotten used to power tripping and always getting their way. 250-500 is a good range, can go as high as 1000 if the power level is pretty high. You've got a clan that trains even its neonates for leadership and selects them from those with experience/talent for it. Not to mention deep roots within the Camarilla. Best for what you're looking for, Ventrue broadly encourage Humanity, but also don't have any serious commitment to morals. Oh sure some wax poetic about Noblesse Oblige, but that's just a good strategy for staying in power, which is the actual hard part. Any brute can seize power.

Amoral, understands the value of internal cooperation as well as ruthless competition against foes, well versed in the nuances of politics, and hasn't reached the pinnacle of power that can unmake Ventrue via complacency.
