this anthology of a whopping three (3) episodes was really bad and made me want to stop collecting warhammer.
>>
>>98453637
>Episode 1
The only nice thing was seeing a Femstodes be a complete scumbag and basically kill a planet for no reason while the Astartes try to save it. Custodesfags seething on multiple levels, but it was a good demonstration of Custodian logic and why the Imperium is in such a dire state. The people in charge simply don't give a shit about the millions or billions of lives they're throwing away and threaten and harass everyone who tries to do something good for once into toeing the line. Custodes are evil incarnate.
>Episode 2
Sa'kan is such a dogshit character. Imagine killing off the Sororitas who had all the fun character development just to wank some annoying, preachy Salamander cunt as being a turbo badass and then double down on it in the sequel in Tithes. Imagine wasting two entire series on SALAMANDERS R HECKIN GOOD GUYS, repeating the same story in the sequel, this time with an Ultramarine.
>Episode 3
The only episode of the Tithes I liked because it was no-nonsense, just a classical grimdark short story like you used to see in 3rd and 4th edition. The logistics are broken, but there's still good people trying to do the right thing like the Commissar.
>>
>>98453658
>kill a planet for no reason
She had a pretty decent reason desu
>>
>>98453666
There could have been a war for that world to delay the hive fleet and destroy as much of the hive's biomass stocks as possible, instead they took away all its defenses and bombed it to ensure the Tyranids could just sail right past that world uncontested. Custodes are retards who mindlessly ape Kryptmann's tactics without understanding he only destroyed those worlds to lure Leviathan into Octarius as a bigger, better bulwark.
>>
>>98453658
Tom and Don got it right when they shit all over the salamanders. It's annoying to see him try to be propped up as a heroic guy only by them shitting all over a smurf.
I really don't see the logic behind the way they right custodes. Like, it's cool having even more powerful guys who are above space marines, but the way they're presented makes me not like them.
>Some bitch is being a turbo cunt and making people awkwardly stand around and watch her dyke do sign language? Okay. Now what?
It happens like three times and doesn't add anything.
Episode 3 was fine enough but I wish the ending had been toned down. It was too cartoonishly evil.
>>
>>98453676
The Imperium uses exterminatus all the time, it’s not exactly a rare thing lol
>>
>>98453820
Custodes are supposed to be intelligent.
>>
>>98453676
>instead they took away all its defenses and bombed it to ensure the Tyranids could just sail right past that world uncontested
Starving the fleet seems more efficient than literally feeding it while also giving it the time to harvest some of the planet. If anything, the normal Imp strat should be getting the Hive fleet to stop and commit forces before blowing up the planet.

As for the rest
>wanking off the gay rapist tranny poop-eating, fart fetishist cannibal traitor mutants
It's very tiresome.
>>
>>98453847
Can’t make an omelette without breaking a few eggs, there’s only roughly a million marines total, that means that each Space Marine is about as valuable as an entire planet, so they can’t afford to lose them fighting for a doomed planet.
>>
Warhammer+ is comical to me. I can't imagine paying for a streaming service that offers maybe 10 total hours of content.
Just release the shit on youtube. A lot of the animation is super janky and cheap anyway.
>>
>>98453810
>Some bitch is being a turbo cunt and making people awkwardly stand around and watch her dyke do sign language? Okay. Now what?
The fucking sign language was hilariously cringe, I legitimately cannot believe that GW took the "Sisters of Silence" name so idiotically literally and turned the entire faction into a lame and gay sign language inclusivity thing. Especially when you read the books and there's whole paragraphs glazing Thoughtmark (SoS sign language) as being hyper-deep, super efficient and unbelievably erudite language that totally shits all over High and Low Gothic at conveying large volumes of information rapidly. But then you see Thoughtmark on the screen and it's literally just American sign language that needs 5 minutes of frantic motioning to convey a simple sentence, yet everyone on screen shuts up to stare to this bald bitch waving her hands around. And if you've studied sign language at all, you know the sign language lexicon is 1st grade level. Translations of sign language are like reading caveman speech.
>>
>>98453873
>Starving the fleet seems more efficient
You can't starve the Tyranids, they recycle their own biomass indefinitely. The only way to reduce their stores is to kill them in battle, ideally proceeding to burn the corpses. But even if you have no flamers, just shooting them with lasguns or bolters still destroys some of their biomass, and forcing an invasion to happen at all means the hive has committed large expeditures of energy to breeding an army and dropping it on the surface. That's why fighting Tyranids at all is worthwhile, this has always been the case to justify such battles happening rather than every war devolving into the Imperium blowing up its own worlds.
>>
>>98453926
The problem is the Imperium is busy, and by all appearances the world that was being exterminatused was a jungle world of no importance, so it would be better to buy time by destroying the world and withdrawing to a more fortified and well populated world
>>
>>98453926
>You can't starve the Tyranids, they recycle their own biomass indefinitely.
Anon, the Tyranids literally poop.
>>
>>98453950
Remember when Tigurius predicted that the only way the Imperium stood a chance against the full mass of the Tyranid threat was if it put a lasgun in the hands of every man, woman, and child? Somehow I don't think he meant "bomb thousands of worlds and everyone on them to funnel the hive fleet into a handful of fortress worlds that will never have the manpower to hold out because you just vaporized the manpower we needed to win the war"
>>98454039
And then they eat it.
>>
>>98453637
third episode was the only decent one. the guy animating the flyboy getting blown to bits understood orks at least. the strong black woman general and the fucking bitch bossing around a literal commissar was grating but what else do you expect if current day DEI slop
>>
>>98453637
God I fucking hate Primaris marines
>>
>>98454052
Dey eat da poopoo?
>>
>>98453897
if you are susceptible to any kind of fanboy behaviour, james warhammer will steal your soul and keep your wallet hostage
>>
>>98454052
It was a jungle world, it hardly held any manpower at all
>>
>>98454083
Yes, endless stream of grimdark pajeets.
>>
>>98454083
what do you think? there are organisms on this world right now that eat all sorts of shit. hell, do you know what honeydew is? it absolutely stands to reason that nids have some sort of waste recycling bug that basically scoops up all low grade biomass and converts it to more biomass better suited for bigger organisms. ffs even ants do this, use your imagination
>>
>>98454098
It was a developed Imperial world with an established Imperial presence of Arbites, collecting hundreds of nascent psykers for the Black Ships. That's millions of men, women, and children that could have fought if they had been given the chance.
>>
>>98454134
Millions is small fry, not when a single hive city can reach the trillions. There’s only roughly one space marine per planet in the Imperium, they have to be spent wisely defending the important planets.
>>
>make female custodes
>make them as unlikable as possible
>have them shit all over the male power fantasy characters in your male power fantasy story setting
I know GW has a long history of shooting itself in the foot but cmon
>>
>>98454151
>There’s only roughly one space marine per planet in the Imperium
considering the imperium got millions maybe even close to billions of planets that number isn't sustainable with what we are given on marine numbers. all bickering aside, GW authors are notoriously bad with numbers and scale. no number can be taken seriously since different authors scale the imperium completely differently and not at all coherently
>>
>>98453903
I mean if the animators made up their own bs sign language that didnt fuck the scene pacing that would be fine right?

I assume they needed to do full asl for some DEI reason, same as female custodes. Gotta fuck the setting to satisfy the wokies. Why not botch the SoS after the custodes..
>>
>>98454083
>>98454052
No, the Space Marines are the ones eating poop. For the Tyranids, the fact that they poop means that they're far below the proposed 100% recycling rate of consumed biomass.

Their overall efficiency drops even harder on account of them having nasal cavities.
>>
>>98454179
I was actually kind of confused since I don't remember the custard ever getting addressed by pronoun and I wasn't sure if it's just a feminized pretty boy. I mean the jawline was like the chad meme, definetly nothing feminine there
>>
>>98454190
>I mean if the animators made up their own bs sign language that didnt fuck the scene pacing that would be fine right?
It'd be tantamoint to having the entire series voiced in weird sounding latin instead of using English is used to represent Gothic.
>>
>>98454187
Fair the numbers aren’t precise but is usually stated as roughly a million worlds and roughly a million marines. I’d accept multiple millions or hundreds of thousands but changing a million to a billion seems a stretch. And in either case, millions of citizens is literally nothing to the Imperium. The Imperium has sent hundreds of billions of Guardsmen to their deaths fighting on a single frontline against the Tau, millions of civilians don’t matter in the slightest.
>>
>>98454282
I always chose to see it more metaphorically like there are a million worlds marines recruit from and each recruitment cycle only one makes the cut, so you got a million worlds providing a million marines. at least I think this makes more sense
>>
>>98453926
>You can't starve the Tyranids, they recycle their own biomass indefinitely.
Nah, 40k universe is at least as entropic as ours, if not more so due to chaos. Its not a perpetual energy recycler with zero loss, otherwise they'd just stay in the void.
>>
>>98454388
Tyranids don't eat other races because it's the only way to survive, they do it to grow the hive bigger, discover new genes of use, and most importantly because the hive mind decided a billion years ago at its conception that all other life deserves nothing but to be consumed, according to Hive Fleet Horror. There are actually Hive Fleets like Tiamat that don't graze new regions of space but instead hunker down in their own territory and subsist entirely on their own, building some kind of super-hive structure on a chosen planet.
>>
>>98454388
considering the warp has some weird time fuckery it completely changes the way entropy developed in that universe. especially since energy from the warp does not get lost but spills out periodically which absolutely adds more mass to the universe, if not outright then as soon as daemon eating nids arrive
>>
>>98454409
Doesn't nu lore suggest that the Necrons created the Tyranids? I'm okay with ignoring that but idk what /tg/ thinks of that extra galactic travelling bs where the silent king made them.

The only source that made such an accusation was a Harlequin saying the Silent King created the Tyranids, but they never elaborated with evidence. Harlequins like vagueposting, so it's easy to disregard as probably a metaphor rather than reality. What we do know is that the Silent King sailed out beyond the galaxy 60 million years ago, and when he finally returned, it was with the Tyranids nipping at his heels. So you could very easily suggest even if he didn't create them, he may have accidentally led them to the Milky Way except we have Word of God confirming it was actually Guilliman's backup Astronomicon that signaled the Tyranids to come to the Milky Way, so we know it probably wasn't the Silent King's fault... unless he's the one who put that Pharos near Ultramar intentionally knowing Guilliman would discover it and overload it one day. Who even knows anymore?
>>
>>98454409
The thing in your spoiler is the first sentence you say it isn't.
>>
>>98454434
Weird that in old 40k most Sisters of Silence still talked normally.
>>
>>98453637
What game will you be playing or collecting instead
>>
>>98454487
I don't think you know how to read.
>They're not doing it because it's the only way to survive
>Spoiler: they're doing it because they choose to out of complete and utter spite towards all other life
>>
>>98454488
:skull: that's not old 40k
>>
>>98453903
>, I legitimately cannot believe that GW took the "Sisters of Silence" name so idiotically literally and turned the entire faction into a lame and gay sign language
Its been a rip off of Bene Gesserit sign language since before you were born.
>>
>>98454495
That's okay. I know you don't know how to wright.
>>
>>98454498
you sure? Herbert wrote that sign language as being very subtle, basically unobservable to the uninitiated. have the SoS ever been depicted not frantically waving their hands around?
>>
>>98454498
>Bene Gesserit
Oh, you mean the sisterhood that still talks normally alongside having sign language? Really interesting point of comparison there, almost as if GW took the name "Sisters of Silence" too literally and assumed they should all be literally silent.
>>
>>98454500
I accept your concession, retard
>>
>>98454489
there are a couple of nice agnostic mini games I would like to try. Firefight feels exactly like what killteam was supposed to be
>>
>>98454528
I think Deadzone/Halo Flashpoint is the one you want, not Firefight but Firefight minis are the exact same as Deadzone minis so it doesn't matter if you're ok with buying the extra deadzone rules and bits after the Firefight starter kit.
>>
>>98454550
I just use my 40k models, that's the entire reason for me to go into agnostic tabletop in the first place. after sinking over a thousand dollars into james warhammer plastic crack™ I can't justify
>>
>>98454504
>>98454509
What part of
>rip-off
was too complicated for you there?
>>
>>98454851
well for a rip-off some core elements should be recognizable. like how 40k is a rip-off of fantasy but the races are in space. or grim dark future being a rip-off of 40k since most factions have a 1:1 analog in the other system. simply saying
>it's a sign language so it's a rip-off
is not enough. by that logic everything reiterating anything is a rip-off
>>
>>98454886
You can frame it as homage or reference if you'd like, but usually in english, a rip-off is when the derivative is sloppy or shallow.
>elite all female religious cast with secrets and sign language
is a general category, from before the sisters of silence, which are a rip-off of the dune concept, which was a big influence on 40k.
The GW version is a rip-off in that it has some of those aspects but is not a 1:1 analogue, as you may find there are very few of those in 40K, which has always been a jammed together mess of various scifi fantasy and pop culture.
>>
>>98454915
>You can frame it as homage or reference if you'd like, but usually in english, a rip-off is when the derivative is sloppy or shallow.
I think we are splitting hairs if the cut-off is simply the iteration being (subjectively) bad. I concede the point of the themes being largely the same and thus they could be reasonably called derivative. but I would raise you the counterpoint of ancient seers/oracles or celtic/germanic "witches" being the original "female religious caste with secret doctrine and/or secret way of communication"
>>
>>98455013
I get what you mean. I'd be inclined to evaluate where the hair gets split by the amount of clear enthusiasm for the referenced material there is and the depth it is shown to have. So the Bene Gesserit would me more a homage, there was a lot of thought and reading and background put into them, but it does get harder to compare given how different the mediums are, novels compared to fluff bits for a wargame. It could be overly dismissive of me to say they're a rip-off if we go back and pour over the black ship blurbs.
The recent animation of them doing sign language was sort of disappointing to shit, depending on how mad you want to be.
>>
there are so many fucking women and black women in this show lmfao
>>
>>98456788
Is it surprising? I've never met an Imperium fan that wasn't a liberal.
>>
>>98453676
>There could have been a war for that world to delay the hive fleet
The hive fleet was attacking multiple worlds in that area, as she said, they were creating a dead zone ring, if all the other planets were already nuked the hive fleet would have funneled and fucked that one world and be that much closer to Tera
>>
>>98453897
i think for most people the video section is just an add-on
i signed up to read the white dwarf archive and get the mini i wanted. thats worth it for me 4 shitty videos every year isn't worth the cost

>>98455073
i kinda love that they are completely silent. its a neat concept and could be fun. but fuck asl is so gay and slow. just why are they so goddamn uncreative?
>>
>>98456822
my cousin plays SoB and IG and is a real proper chud. but to be fair my main army is orks and I actually like to read so maybe our family is just weird
>>
>>98453637
the orks where great. that episode and the SoB animation adequately depicted my green boys, even if they were folding incredibly fast. that's imperial plot armor for you
>>
>>98453658
It destroys the Custodes' lore; they are bodyguards, not Inquisitors.
>>
>>98453637
Is this where these fucking 3d animations I run into occasionally on jewtube come from?
So 40k is just capeshit with strong. ugly wamen forced into everything now?
>>
>>98453903
What are you even bitching about
>>
>>98463481
>they are bodyguards, not Inquisitors.
You are a retard waiting to killed by Horus if you think you can defend NotGod only by killing what’s in his immediate vicinity threatening him. 90% of imperial organizations can get a planet blown up what the fuck are you talking about
>>
>>98463885
1. Horus is dead, and unlike Palpatine he is truly gone
2. The custodes sole purpose is to guard the golden throne and the Emperors body. They dont mingle with the other Institutions or enact the Emperors will outside of the palace.
>>
>>98453810
Tom and Don are right the overwhelming majority of the time.
People forget they have been at it for years and facing the brunt of criticism.
>>
>>98456963
I mean one anon said earlier in the thread that if they used anything other than asl it would be like having the entire show be in Latin so, I suppose it's the usual suspects at it again. Turning a supposedly efficient sentence or conversation into 10 minutes in the name of equality because we can't have space sign language in the year 41000, we have to use ASL. And also pretend that asl is the only sign language, don't forget to do that.
>>
>>98465078
thats not even close though.
the majority of watchers are watching in english and speak english. the writers are also english and speak english. making it in latin makes no sense. i highly doubt any of them can even sign. i get its cool for anyone who does to see that, and genuinely not looking to rob that experience, but most people will be able to understand asl as well as a made up language. it was done because gw is lazy, and making a coherent sign structure would be effort that doesn't make money.
>>
>>98465118
nta
>and making a coherent sign structure would be effort that doesn't make money.
They didn't have to make a coherent one if they wanted to save money. They could have done a much shorter one that would cost less to animate.
It was a purposeful choice.
Enthusiasts would have made a 39 millennia on bastardization, so a few recognizable bits with mixed in liturgical references but that is far beyond the scope of contemporary GW's cartoons.
>>
>>98454179
They were shitting on the male power fantasy faction. The whole setting isn't a male power fantasy just the space marines. I doubt people playing Tyranids are indulging in a male power fantasy.
>>
>>98465200
People who talk about "Male power fantasies" as if pointing out that they exist is some sort of own on those who enjoy such things, need to be fed somebody else's unwashed socks in any case.
>>
>>98454211
NTA but doesn't that actually help his point?
If you're keeping the Tyranids occupied on world, they're shedding even more biomass from pooping on top of the battle losses. And after everything, if the Imperium still loses on the ground THEN they can just nuke the planet anyway and have cost the Tyranids fleet a lot of time and biomass, rather than just exterminatus from the get go and giving a fresh fleet the go ahead to fly straight to another planet.
>>
>>98467327
The organic matter from the planet + enemy forces + tyranid dead, more than makea up for it. Also the kids have ships too, they can, and often do eat ships before they get a chance to nuke the world

>I doubt people playing Tyranids are indulging in a male power fantasy.
What are you a woman? Tyranids are the face of the masculine ideal. No goofy antics, no edgy contrarianism, no pretending to fit into some ideal to fit in, no self justification to make yourself feel better, just you and the boys going apeshit in a massive horde as you wipe out everything in your path.
>>
>>98454241
Not really since her sign language added nothing and you'll need to subtitle it anyways.
>>
>>98453658

>>
>>98454060
It wouldn't be a big deal if it was just that one, but apparently most of the competent guard is black and/or female.

Iron within was cool on its own, but taken with everything else the shit is just annoying.
>>
>>98453810
Tom and Don are secondary tourists. Watch the video where they react to the new 40k trailer. They didn’t even know that the narration is the opening of rogue trader which is still in like every 40k book…
>>
>>98453637
I liked episode two. I'm not a huge fan of the nucrons in general but I liked Szeras.
The thing I really don't like about these animations is that they've set a standard for what boltguns and lasguns look/sound like that GW seems to adamantly demand be consistent for all media going forward. That wouldn't be a problem if they weren't horrible dogshit. In all future media lasguns are going to be piddly little star wars blasters instead of, you know, fucking lasers, and bolters are going to sound like paintball guns.
>>
>>98467555
Astartes did it the best. The sound design was superb.
>>
>>98467555
DoW's weapon effects were near-perfect across the board from memory. I don't know why GW would deliberately deviate from that area, especially when it's been more or less the norm for so long. You'd think they'd stick with long-standing recognition.
>>
>>98453637
I'm the kind of tired where my vision is kinda wonky, so I thought the thumbnail was a Space Marine with the word "Titties" written under it.

A million worlds has been used repeatedly to describe the imperium, but it honestly does feel like it should be higher, considering how flippantly they're willing to lose them. A million is a big number, but over 10,000 years and eternal total war would still take it's toll on that, especially if the Imperium's losing 10-100 worlds a year.
>>
>>98471179
I figured the 1 million worlds was starting around 40k itself, so they had more before the 41st millennium, but they’ve lost some over time until it was down to a million by the time of 40k

Femstodes shouldn't be concerned with harvesting synergy, or with the state of a world or relaying orders.

That character should have been some high ranking administratum wagie character and have some space marines and the sister for the action scenes.

The second one is grimbright nu hammer sloppa, I hate shitmaris and newcron robot Egyptians.

The third one is so retarded. Why would the Imperium leave all that infrastructure without evacuating. They still need to provide protection to get the ammo out so... the commissar should have been shot imo. What a fag lord and out of character for an orphan from the schola progenium.

The point is obviously that the people in command either are too stupid to realize the problem or simply don't care, like the bureaucrats on the supply world who decide to just destroy literal mountains of ammunition and rations because the continent is going to buckle under the weight. This is the Imperium, dysfunctional as normal.
