I've only played a single game in 11th so far, with shitty cardboard cutout footprints, and really light polystyrene terrain on them.
It really fucking sucked, as the wrapping cardboard made it hard for miniatures to stand on it without tipping over, and even the lightest brush against it, made it move away.

Anyone played with neoprene or plastic footprints? Do heavier terrain pieces tie down those fucking things down better? Trying to look for options for my local game store..

yo momma so fat, she got an objective control characteristic of 20. Even while battle shocked.

yo momma so fat, when the Commissar orders Move Move Move, they had to rename it Waddle Waddle Waddle.

yo momma so fat, when she performed a Fall Back move, she never got up again.

yo momma so fat, she got the Fights Last special rule.

yo momma so fat, her unit card just says "don't even try it" under how much transport capacity she occupies.

While building getting started with Orks I've seen GW didn't include the alt builds for the boyz that I've seen exists in Armaggedon instructions online. Not a problem since it seems if you cut off the conection bits all of the arms are interchangable and heads are by default. But odd that they excluded that, considering the numbers are the same in Armaggedon sprues & instruction book so they could have just copy pasted the instructions.

kind of. hes one of the few primarchs I think they can actually do something interesting with because the design space isnt already well tread.

we know what all the primarchs look like atp except maybe corax, but there are a lot of ways they can go for perty.

I think most of the 40k primarch models are pretty bad outside of the "bigger daemon prince with wings" ones.

Emps was creating the human sections of the Webway and wanted to shepherd humanity into it so they would be safe but also so humanity and eldar would intermingle and create a new powerful hybrid race that's safe from the predations of chaos.
It's the reason why there are female custodes as well, Emperor would've decreeded his companions to get wives and husbands to speed up the intermingling of the 2 species.

For some added context: I'm mostly building these to play against each other, and building up from the Armageddon box.

The wartrackk is mostly there because I have the mini, I could cut it like I cut the librarian, but that was due to Black Templar restrictions. I could sub out the Trukk for another squad of boyz, but the plan was to load it up with Breakas and drive it at the dreadnaught.

>>98477645
I haven't put much thought into which squad gets which attachment. My main thought with that choice was giving them +1 to charge.

>I think most people like the black templars as a faction, however, as a hyper religious crusading faction themed after the crusaders of old and suppourting the worst regime in human history, they can attract fans that hold kinda yuck irl views too, the amount of times ive seen someone with a black templars profile pic being either nasty, racist, sexist or just plain disgusting is too common

The upgrade is genuine dogshit, I bought it and it's not good. Trying to pretend that 2 shitty hand flamers and 2 generic hammers with a fire symbol them is a "good upgrade" is laughable. Only good thing about it are the braziers, but buying a kit for 2 fucking braziers and pretending it is good tells me you're a retard.

Trying to pretend that it is good and only what Sallies need is just tells me you're a disingenious cunt arguing in bad faith.
>a handful of named characters
It's literally only TWO (2) characters with models, that is not a handful you fucking retard.
>as well as being able to dip into their HH range
Only shit sallies have in HH is another shitty upgrade packs made out of resin. Which also gives you printlines for free.
And shit like pyroclasts or fire drakes are over 20 year old sculpts and look fucking awful and have no rules in 40k. Nevermind that they both out of scale as well and look like ass.
And they are also made out of dogshit FW resin with FW's typical lack of quality control.

Again, you don't have a point to make, you're just an idiot trying to play devil's advocate for a pointless reason because you feel the need to be a contrarian.
>>
>>98477720

I dont agree.
The redemptor is only an anti tank piece in melee.
The warboss, and break boyz can kill anything on the SM side, while the dakkarig and burna boyz are a big problem for the vanguard vets and eradicators.
The 20 boys with the wierdboy using Da Jump can also be a huge issue. As during the waaaghhh while near max health that unit will simply drown any of the SM units in hits killing them. The SM player has to get a lot of use of the overpriced redemptor and the vulnerable eradicators to win.
Also if you havent bought the Burna boyz or Nobz wait, they are getting new kits.

One Page Rules is successful because people are just so sick of GW's bullshit when it comes to
>massively overpriced minis
>terrible balancing, with certain models either mandatory or useless on the tabletop for literally years and years, and broken armies sitting at huge winrates for months before being errata'd
>entire armies people paid for (Imperial Agents) not being given a simple army rule, which would take 10 minutes for GW to implement and still hasn't been done
>Rules that require a PhD to parse and know in totality because they're so unnecessarily bloated
>Rules which are spread out across 50 different books, card decks, erratas, supplements, FAQs, subscription-locked apps etc when Wahapedia has already made it clear a single website can do everything
>Rules codexes which become obsolete a month after their release
>"Strategy Wargame" which works more like a board/card game than it should, where most of the strategy comes from what list you built at the start, requiring players to invest heavily in options to be competitive
>factions (Dark Eldar) having large parts of their model range be made obsolete
>Models being sent to Legends and made obsolete (which OPR fixes by just assigning models a generic template)

GW hold a fantastic IP that they have a technical monopoly on, they make decent quality minis, but they don't really do anything else well with the IP.

No wonder people who like the IP turn to alternatives.

Privateer press’ warmahordes is the biggest example of this.

I don’t hate warhammer 40k. Sometimes I just want to try something different.
And quite frankly it is hard for me to tell if the rules are good enough because I play with friends that are fun to be around that “clouds” judgement for the rules quality because the fun of being around the lads picks up the slack I think.

I always thought the space marines being indifferent to mortals is because of codex astartes stuff like staying a distance to not get distracted by human bonds that could compromise victory if actions are taken to save civies.
Salamanders ignore this for cultural reasons.

The problem with vanilla marines is that while, yes, they have a huge range and get a billion releases, all of them are completely mid compared to their brothers with their own codex. >>98478206
"Deserve" is a very loaded word because we're talking about plastic spacemen being made by a gaggle of retarded brits, none of the factions "deserve" anything and anyone could disappear tomorrow for all we know.

But to stop dodging your question: like I said previously, I'd love to see EVERY faction get more subfaction variety and flavor, and yes I'd prefer if it happened to the more unloved factions first. To be honest I can't think of anything Sallies could even get that isn't covered by default marines. Even more flamer subtypes? More thunderhammers because they're blacksmiths? One reason they've only got named characters is possibly because that's all GW can really think to add to them.
>>
>>98478203
nah fuck off I want my 100% elf chick squads
>>
>>98478160
They've struggled to find their niche especially since scouts were updated and GW decided to make them both really cheap and have more scouting skills than the specialist marines (free teleporting is crazy). But it made sense during the early primaris years to add tacticool snipers and veteran scouts to the range while core firstborn models were still selling well and didn't need direct replacement (same thing with gravis:terminators).

Really hope they get a complete rules refresh in the next codex. Eliminators abusing the Hidden rule, consolidate infiltrators and incursors into one data sheet now that they don't sell some of the equipment options at all, finally figure out how to make reivers worthwhile over jump packs etc. I own way too many phobos marines.

You complain about detachments obligating specialization being the problem, but then claim that's why subfactions that go all-in on specialization are superior.
>>
>>98478253
Codex'd marines have unique units, detachments that support those units, and strong HQs that support the playstyle well. Just because Imperial Fists and Salamanders have a few epic heroes and slightly modified detachments does not mean they're as specialized as Blood Angels or Wolves.
And theoretically, I'm totally okay with that. But vanilla marines don't have anything to make up for the fact that there is no strong gimmick or mechanic to rally around. They just want you to be codex marines but worse.
>>
What do you guys think would be a good main cannon for my Leeman Russ? I wanted something to deal with heavy armor mainly. Is plasma worth the risk it carries?
>>
8th edition codex supplements for marine chapters like iron hands and raven guard were good, they should do that again in 11th.
>>
>>98478195
>>98478224
it's extremely more easy to word bearer or alpha legion the generic legionaries though and ultramarines have an upgrade sprue so black legion would need one too the alpha legion is also harder to pin down because most players who are alphatistic would benefit from incorporating corsair renegades into their army, due to the similarly to loyalist armour patterns, since the AL 'lore' list would make heavy use of kitbashed patterns, traitor guardsmen and maybe an overt daemon prince if we assume it's the part of the alpha legion subversion where they bring in the "haha, we were always chaos" part of their forces.

Word Bearers are easy though since it's
>eight pointed star on armour
>8 pointed star icon
>horns horns horns
>8 pointed start pauldrons
>mutations and horns
It's easy to make them the most chaosy you just need the daemonface pauldron for the "these are my guys" look. And helmets with even bigger horns, preferably.
>>
>>98478296
Are Blood Angels and Space Wolves really that specialized? They still have access to every single non-chapter Codex Marine unit and Detachment if they want to use them. If anything they have even more variety than the Codex Space Marines do
>>
>>98478306
Also some books n scrolls or some shit, WBs would be easy as fuck to upgrade sprue. ALs would just need the scaly armor from their HH lines because as you said, anyone who wants to play up stealth AL memes already has plenty of tools available to them.
>>
>>98478145
>>98478139
Space marines are fucked up like stormcast, the GW rereleases and redos of the range to drive sales created a bloated range that theoretically covers a lot of bases but doesn't actually satisfy people who want to run Raven Guard with lightening claws and jetpacks or White Scars with lots of bike support (and the bikes are ugly). Some armies like Iron Hands have all this lore of Cyborg Marines and guys who are half tank tread half marine and robots that have the minds of dead iron hands uploaded into them (Helfathers) but the actual iron hands struggle to even find enough robot arms.

This is why the primaris kits suck too, any complaint you can make for the legionaries being focused narrowly on black legion is 10 times worse for intecessors since it's difficult to even build them to be thematic- the 'themes' of armies like white scars having curved swords or whatever require a lot of upgrade sprues.
>>
>>98478299
Magnetize it. Barring that, IIRC the cannons are simple peg and slot connections, so you can skip magnets if you really wanted to and just have friction hold the gun in. There's really no reason to ever glue them in.
>>

>This is why the primaris kits suck too, any complaint you can make for the legionaries being focused narrowly on black legion is 10 times worse for intecessors since it's difficult to even build them to be thematic- the 'themes' of armies like white scars having curved swords or whatever require a lot of upgrade sprues
And those upgrade sprues suck ass too.
>here's 2 curved chainswords and 2 generic mk10 helmets with 1 lightning symbol on the helmet

I don't even mind primaris or mk10, but having an upgrade sprue that amounts to being just "here's a little sticker on your helmet" is just fucking lame.
>>
>>98478310
I would say DA/BA/SW/BT aren't specialized at all because their special units heavily overlap into the specialities of armies like raven guard (jump assault), salamanders (flamers), imperial fists being cucked out of being the Top Dorn Sons in general. The special codex boys get so many toys like the nephilim jetfighter or the flying box the space wolves used to have that they don't even really need more than a few codex compliant models.

When you think about it the lore that IF died but were 'revived' is retarded, if it were possible to go back I would edit IF so that they went extinct and the sons of dorn merely carry on in their name, would make the story fresh as fuck but oh well.
>>
>>98478310
Losing access to units doesn't make you specialized. Having detachments, units, rules, and HQs that really juice your chapter's gimmick does.

Blood Angels became more specialised in 11th because they pay a tax on all close combat units that is only justified when using bonuses from their own detachments. If you're not doing a specific type of spam it's no longer worth playing BA at all.

It's not that Salamanders aren't unloved. It's just a matter of perspective. Space Marines are getting new units every year that kind of count for Salamanders too. Meanwhile World Eaters got the same number of new models last edition as Salamanders, the subfaction, specifically did.

the lgs I went to yesterday was empty at 10 AM except for the 1 employee in the back near the register. The game room (which was the front) is obscured from the register. i was surprised because they had a bunch of unpainted stormravens just strewed across the tables. I could have easily nicked one and walked out. I didn't though but I was surprised by the absolutely 0 security, I don't think they even have a camera.

Thank you
People always post shit like "just kitbash your guys into the Digeridoo craftworld that has the special Toilet Cleaner Aspect" but seem to not grasp there are no rules to actually run that aspect or craftworld's strategies and counts as is a poor approximation. This is why it's better when GW puts out rules and detachments and the sheer amount of seethe this causes is counterintuitive.

Is building a Khorne Daemons army a bad idea in the current edition? I have about 1000pts of them and I wonder if I should spend more money on bringing them up to 2000pts or let them retire for a bit and focus on a "real" army like Tau or CSM instead.
I have Skulltaker, a Bloodmaster, a Daemon Prince, 20 Bloodletters, 3 Bloodcrushers, 10 Flesh Hounds and a Skull Cannon.
With Bloodletters having a cap of 10 minis per unit and no transport options I'm worried that none of them will see any action before being gunned like bitches. Am I underestimating the Shadow of Chaos?
Should I focus on upping the Bloodcrusher unit to 6 and both Flesh Hound units to 10 each instead, in hope that their speed will do the trick?
Are Karanak and Skullmaster even worth taking?

Is the D6 a mathematically inferior dice or something? I was reading that some people think warhammer 40k and games like kill team etc should be played with D10's rather than D6's. Apparently the D6 is mathematically inferior some how but in what way does a D6 "suck"? Or why would a D10 be better? Basically, some would say that warhammer being D6 based actually makes it suck somehow.

The problem that people have with the D6 is that it makes representing the narrative power of various units a bit difficult. I think for a lot of people it's less of a mathematics issue and more of a fantasy issue. Someone asking themselves "why does this regular ass tyranid have the same toughness as a regular ass human man? Why do they both hit on the same target number?"
>>
>>98478520

They are based on Wood Elves. The Asrai work with the beasts of nature and bond with them. They don't dominate them.
>>
>>98478509
D6 just has huge percentage gaps for each balance change
Moving something from hitting on 5’s to hitting on 4’s is a 17% boost in probability
Something like D10 or even D20 allows you to balance in finer increments and also RPG dice are just cool and fun and make it feel more like you’re gaming
D6 is a common dice everyone is familiar with and it feels like playing yahtzee or something lol
>>
I feel like there are two very different reasons GSC fans like their faction so much and I think both of them make me uncomfortable in different ways.
>>
>>98478516
My guess is a mixture of
>GW sucks at making the Sororitas' signature bob cut look attractive
>the enlarged cranium gives her a more infantile and thus "cute" appearance
>she's not screaming so she doesn't look more masculine
>>
>>98478521
>why does this regular ass tyranid have the same toughness as a regular ass human man?

>>
>>98478509
Granularity, like others have said. There's nothing wrong with a d6 die itself but having 1d6 roll as a resolution mechanic for hitting and resisting means there are only 5 tiers of proficiency scaling any unit can have. Something like 2d6 gives way more options with a curve favoring median results over extremes.
>>
>>98478521
True
The numbers are bound to repeat extremely frequently since they have no choice but to operate within like 1 or 2 increments of eachother

Ever since I read Day of Ascension, I've grown to like them more as the Mad Max Fury Road War Boys meets Les Miserables meets The Shadow Over Innsmouth.
The idea that life under the Imperium sucks so bad, the bugs eating us all is an improvement because then at least you won't die of cancer, knowing your kids and their kids and their kid's kid's kid's kid's kids will all die of cancer before they turn 30 on an unforgiving radioactive shit-world. The mechanicus could fix the issues, but that sort of treatment for the labor isn't cost effective.

In any other setting, you could say "over time things might improve!" but this is 40k, there setting that opens with the line "no it's all fucked and you're going to die horribly," so is there really any difference? Get eaten by bugs once of 10,000 more years of slow decay and utter desolation for you and all your descendants.

The exodite campaign in the box is actually 'unplayable' without the waystones and star steles, they're literally macguffins that you 'activate' to defeat the Ork. The waystones literally should have been on a sprue in the damn box I have no clue why the fuck they did this besides either fucking up the production and forgetting them or wanting to put even more orks in and sacrificed the space that would have gone to a terrain sprue. The Cunts.

GW gets so egregious they literally recommend people buy even more Ork NPOs like the Beastboss on Squiggasaur.

The thing that annoys me is the dossier is so fat and thick you can tell they bumped the price up just for this. It's like a Codex rather than a floppy book.

Pactbound zealots – mark of khorne for everyone
3x 10 chosen 3x250+20= 770 points
3x dark apostles 3x65= 195 points
10 possessed 240 points
10 terminators 350 points
1 terminator lord 85 points
1 DPWF 180 points
2x 20 cultists 2x90= 180 points
2000 points

101 dudes running into melee. The cultist might do objective stuff on the side. I wish pactbound got murder missions.
>>
>>98478579

Midwits see other models have similar stats to marines and think the game is not granular enough to make their power fantasy real.
But moving from a 10 points stats scale to a 20, 50 or 100 points one, or from a d6 to a d10 or d12 or d20 will never actually change anything, the stat creep will just move faster on newer terms.
They just stick to the idea because they think granularity has a nice sophisticated ring to it, and more room for stats should mean more room to have units with unique stats in theory, right? well, it doesn't.

The 2 problems in how warhammer plays are that due to the vast number of units and options gw wants available for customers to collect, there's the push to make everything more or less viable against everything, so rules are standardised and profiles try to be linear, so they can be aim to be equivalent on equivalent points; while the second issue is that there are way to many rolls happening, both because of rules creep, since more rolls means more powerful stuff, right? and also because kids feel good for rolling many dice, with the result being that the game is less swingy because randomisation reverts to the mean, this makes things feel "fair", but also more predictable, and thus boring and lame because the opponent never struggles to take out your allegedly special cool dudes, they're always taken out reliably with the expected effort, they rarely shine against the odds, and neither do underdogs have many chances to punch above their weight.
Everyone who has played this game knows those moments are the more entertaining and memorable ones, and if you pay attention they only ever happened because there were few rolls involved.

Kill Team boxes even up to just 1 year ago tended to have a good bundle of teams, npos and terrain (the tomb world box, of which I have the terrain and deathwatch, are an example of this) the trend over the last year since then has been towards less terrain fewer models while maintaining the price by putting in stuff no one asked for like the Squig Riders that could have simply not been in the box at all.

NTA
>has an incredibly strong list with plenty of options already with lots of thematic flavor that is also very strong in the actual game
>hard to get excited for new models
Yea, that's the point. You already have lots of models to choose from. Most other factions have very little, if any, models, and very few (if any) strong options to go with their thematic flavor.
For example, compare the Sisters roster to Salamanders, and then look at the detachments available to Sisters compared to Salamanders, and then look at what units have what stats and what benefits are gained from the detachments.

There are exactly 33 units in the SoB roster (15 of which are characters). There are 82 units in the Salamanders roster (25 of which are characters).
You have more (and better) options than most of us already, it makes sense to not get excited for new models because GW, in an ideal world, would push for parity between ALL factions, not just the poster boys and whatever rival faction they're fighting in the most recent starter box.
>>98478570
>fucking up the production and forgetting them or wanting to put even more orks in
Departments at GW don't communicate with each other. The people who wrote that campaign don't talk to the people who decide what goes in the box.

Yes, thank you, I'm glad someone around here understands basic math. Now that basic marines are moving to T5, so will Tyranid Warriors and Necron Warriors eventually, basically everything that was intended to be exactly as tough as a marine. Wouldn't surprise me if in 12th edition we see Ork boyz move up to T5 as well.

>>98478601
No, it wouldn't.
You can turn any D6 into an effective D12 with one reroll one sixth of the times, and any table from a linear one to a gaussian one, and vice versa you can use 2D6 still end up with the same issues as before because the stats will slowly get adjusted in the name of "balance" and rules creep so that the results of the 2D6 roll are effectively linear.

The only thing that using 2D6 achieves, is forcing you to roll only 2 dice at a time any time, or forcing you to use a dedicated rolling mat, or forcing you to buy multiple pairs of differently colored dice, all slowing things down or bogging down the board further.
>>
>>98478583
The other anon is arguing (presumably) that baseline humans should have a higher toughness score on a more granular die scale than the common Tyranid bioforms, for some reason, despite being extremely similar in size and as you say the Tyranid has better natural defenses.

>>98478589
Maybe I'm misunderstanding the above, though, please correct me if so. There is some abstraction to consider beyond just the toughness scale in that GW seems to interchangeably use natural armor or significant differences in body structure as justification for differences in both Toughness score AND armor saves. IE we generally assume a naked human would have an Armor Save of nil (or 7+), while a naked Tyranid will always have whatever Armor Save the chitin on its body affords it.

Exodites are based on 1st edition wood elves. Anyway the wood elves themselves are split into 4 broad factions
>avelornians
Living in a living forest but technically high elves
>Eonir
Living in Laurelorn/the empire, the second largest old world wood elf nation
>Asrai
Living in Athel Loren, the largest living forest akin to a portal to the other world, trees liek Drycha actively rejected the elves and sought to kill them (this is why they are split in age of sigmar)
>other wood elves
Small realms too tiny to name or otherwise wiped out over the long centuries, outposts like Prince Oreon's realm in the southlands connected to the other wood elves by magic treeways.

The exodites are superficially similar, but deviate in the sense that the Maiden Worlds are not something created by Isha as a refuge but planets the Eldar Empire actively terraformed and are now Free Real Estate in the eastern fringe. The Dragons themselves are also artificially seeded by the exodites, a monoculture. In a sense the Exodites are more similar to people who set up a homestead if a rewilded and reforested area where the animals are a select few species, than a truly Wild experience like Catachan deathworlders.

Then don't use the things you don't want? You already have a pile of things that fit with whatever your armies theme is no matter the theme with marines so it isn't actually that important when it comes to army construction if a new release caters to you specifically.

This is the company that had the writers' room go "we're going back to Armageddon for 11th edition," got that sent to production for Imperium soldiers and marines and Orks fighting on Armageddon, and also got it sent to the trailer people to make an animation for it that centered around Commissar Yarrick, of the Armageddon Steel Legion.
Despite that, no one sat down and said "should we make new Steel Legion models to go with this release occurring on their regiments' home world?" until multiple weeks AFTER releasing all that advertising stuff publicly, and did so in the laziest way possible (showing concept art and making vague promises) after their blatantly cheap cop-out excuse made guardfags angry instead of calming them down.
Their production people don't talk to their design people. Their design people don't talk to their writing people. Their writing people don't talk to their marketing people. You can combine these sentences in any way and it's still true, nothing they do makes sense.

carapace is usually soft after a molt, so I choose to believe that nids use fictional space biology to use the best of both worlds when it comes to chitin.

norn emissaries have been written as able to slither through tiny man-sized ventilation shafts, so they must be able to soften their exoskeletons as though they were freshly molted, and collapse their endoskeletons like a cat, in order to squish their bodies through spaces like an octopus, then re-harden rapidly after they emerge. The bug should theoretically be most vulnerable in this state, their shell softened and their organs compressed, but that sort of weakness doesn't seem to quantify on the tabletop.

We're in agreement here but I think the difference is that you think there's room for this slight difference in a D8 or even D10 based table when it needs to be able to account for very vast differences that make it negligible, relatively. If you are treating them that differently you're going to end up crushing at the upper or lower ends of your scale and have the same problem.

For preorders, like they always do. I figured they didn't feature steel legion because they want the guard to boil down to cadia/catachan/krieg. It was a garbage decision but the rationale of "we don't want to have to make 8 different kinds of troop choice for guard when we could be using that capacity for more marines that sell better instead" is at least internally consistent right up until it runs into all of the good work they did with the steel legion and people being pissed about their investment in that getting left out in the cold

>>
>>98478816
They didn't feature steel legion because they had already paid for the Cadian and Krieg 3d models for the animations and Krieg had just gotten a whole suite of new plastic models so the "another gasmask regiment? They all look the same (except for all the details) anyway :^)" bad-faith autists would have had a pants-shit over it.
>we don't want to have to make 8 different kinds of troop choice for guard
This could be fixed by standardization. No more "Cadian Heavy Weapons Squad" and "Krieg Heavy Weapons Squad," you just get "Heavy Weapons Squad" and what is legal in that HWS is down to your detachment for some thematic flavoring. That would require GW to actually balance guard though instead of what we currently have.
A standardization of SOME components of models between guard regiments would also greatly help and allow for cheaper manufacturing that still allows for the unique units. This would involve redesigning a lot and losing a few bits of unique flavor though (ie SL and Valhallans sharing torsos; not saying I prefer it, but it's something I can see GW doing). It CAN be done, but I don't know if GW would do it well.

That would entirely depend on the structure of the Space Hulk. Just by nature of the fact that they are generally made up of the mashed together remains of Imperial ships that would have to have the space to transport Knights, there conceivably would remain areas in Hulks that could accommodate a Knight, but whether it could actually get from one end to another is very unlikely. They'd run into some obstacle they couldn't fit through, and trying to blast open paths would risk collapsing the local structure of the hulk.

Back in the day making molds for models was cheaper. The models you reference tend to be metal models/metal models that were converted to finecast.
Making molds for these is much easier and cheaper.

Unlike nowadays where GW uses high pressure hot plastic injection molding.
Molds for these can cost like 50 000$ if not 100 000$ per mold.
So it explains why GW isn't super interested in making models for every single little guard regiment there is.

craftworlds
>players don't have fun when they die because jes goodwin wrote them to be all le tragic and le serious and not funny or silly at all outside of color schemes

It's like, every other faction can be silly, so losing is fun for them, because at least you get have fun seeing your silly dudes die. But when eldar get involved, everything stops being silly and campy for one side, so the players have less fun when losing

Where did I indicate that I thought they would do what I suggested?
I said they COULD, not that they WOULD do it. Reading Comprehension.
Or are you just trying to start an argument?
>to think a pair of redundant unit profiles are an issue in the slightest
It's currrently a non-zero part of the "tourney meta" for guard to spam HWS. You have a limit of 3 of each, so you can bring 27 lascannons this way. I want the guard meta at ALL levels to not be so heavily skewed into memes like 27 lascannons that make the enemy scared of peeking out of cover, and part of that is changing how balance is at the top (because GW seems to only care about tourney shit).
>>98478954
Molds for these can cost like 50 000$ if not 100 000$ per mold
Which is why I (not the anon you're replying to) suggested a bit of standardization to cut costs here. have 2-3 "Guard torso" sprues (we already have that), but then have 5-6 "regiment-specific" sprues of just heads and other unique bits that is put in.
Treat it like the SoB Castigator/Immolator. They're both just a Sororitas Rhino kit, but with their "turret" sprue added on top.
GW could even do it "made to order" or do periodic runs, plastic moulds don't expire, they wear and degrade with use, not a lack of it.
>>
>>98478983
That's simply not how people think about the games they play, anon.
>>

>>
>>98478992
but how else do you play the game other than feel that your dudes died and you lost? The only way to salvage wasting so much time in a losing battle is to take solace in the cool narrative of your guys losing...and eldar losing doesn't sound like a cool narrative like it would for orks, where they're so silly you might not care if they die.

I hope we get Nuadu Fireheart this edition

I dunno why the box art eldar craftworld doesn’t have a single named character
>>
>>98478949
>like, aeldari are basically doomed heroes so the players get kind of down in the dumps when their space elves die
The reason for this is that Craftworlders heavily get used as a punching bag for no real reason.
Like if there is a space marine character in a book and he is fighting against craftwolders who brought out the avatar of khaine, you can be 90% sure that avatar will just job to the marine character for no real reason and the avatar gets killed.
Other example there was a book where an eldar farseer gets their head popped by a weirdboy, and for some reason the autarch leading the battle having witnessed this starts to bawl their eyes out in middle of the battlefield.

People wouldn't mind Craftworlders losing more if it felt that the opposing enemy army actually "earned" that victory, instead of just rofl stomping the eldar force and making them look pathetic.
>>
>>98479029
Because eldar don't get special characters for their subfactions but for their archetypes? They wouldn't make fireheart if they plan on making a shining spear phoenix lord because both would be biker special characters.

they could have nuadu become the shining spear lord though

Absolutely fair enough.
>Really wanted to make an army inspired by the moebian 6th from darktide.
The 6th are pretty cool, indeed. It would be tricky to represent their variety of specialists without a faction purpose-built for that like GSC, though...
> Gonna ask if the guys Im gonna play with are fine with legend units, if not Ill just make a shitty cursed cult with guardsmen fodder.
As long as your group is cool with whatever, it should be fine. I wouldn't worry about that too much since you'll essentially be playing with a hand tied behind your back, with or without access to the Legends units. If they complain about you using defunct units when you're basically nerfing yourself doing so, they're just being dicks.
>I know this is probably a tourist question but why do genestealers have a whole faction but heretics have like 5 mortal units?
No idea. If I had to guess, it's probably just that nobody at GW believes people would be very interested in separating mortal units of Chaos into their own faction. Which is a shame, since the mortal models and lore are genuinely more interesting to look at and to read about than the CSM in most cases.
>>
>>98479037
Shining Spears already have a lord named Drastana in the lore. Really they just need characters able to lead their other bike unit though since it's a major theme for Eldar with its own detachments and such.
>>
>>98478923
That was chaoswank story, of course its suck. Somehow, Yriel and eldar dont even get new arts
>>
>>98478997
Can't tell if you are baiting or autistic.

Assuming you are just retarded, the vast majority of people don't play this game like that at all.

People play to have a good time with their friends, socialize, show off their painted dolls, play a ""strategy"" game.

No one is so lost in the sauce that they have to do mental gymnastics to come up with a lore accurate of what happens when their models die for the Xth time.

Drukhari are more fun because when they lose in lore it's either
>archon rapesalot got skewered while trying to pay his debts to the haemonculi by eating a bunch of orphans in the nursery kindergarten sector, but it was actually Vect who told the haemonculi to let him get killed by the salamanders on planet flower garden
Drukhari are unrepetent, even if they ally with the eldar they're still evil and it's an alliance of convenience which ironically works better than the space marines and chaos marines being perma enemies because space marines always have gay lore like "they killed all those orphans, but they complained to the inquisition that it made them feel bad, they're super cool guys" and chaos will do the same thing but they'll be like "the ends justify the means, if the imperium didn't make me do this I wouldn't have eaten all those babies!".

Drukhari will eat the babies even if they don't have to, and set the orphans on fire and then resurrect them and make them fight in their arenas just because they can.

Depends on the Craftworld. Saim Hann are thrill-chasing arrogant cunt warriors, chasing glory and bickering among their clans much like the noble houses of the Old Empire. Iyanden are "rage against the dying of the light" hopefags and heavily influenced by Yriel, the bad boy Corsair Prince, who brought his fleet in and joined it with Iyanden to create a weird melting pot of ghost warriors that live in their own little part of the Craftworld, surviving citizens of Iyanden clinging to the old ways, and Corsairs who are rough and rowdy. Biel-Tan are like Imperiumfags but for Eldar who unironically say shit like "as long as there is a single mon'keigh that draws breath in this universe, there shall never be peace." It's hard not to enjoy Biel-Tan and Saim-Hann at least, even if I know opinions are mixed on Iyanden.
Many Craftworlds are a little edgy even if they're 'utopian' by comparison to the turbo-edgelords that are the Drukhari.

I guess (I don't have any experience with those)? Have 2-3 torso and leg sets and as many head/arm sets as requested (probably 6-8 consistent ones) that can either work on all or even just on 1 of the torso/leg sets.
I do agree that GW wouldn't do it so as to keep "brand exclusivity;" they've taken the complete wrong approach to the third party proxy models and printing issue with the open antagonism (and frivolous lawsuits against other tabletop games for using the un-copyrightable word "warhammer"), but the cat is out of the bag on it now; either way it seems they can burn as much goodwill and community sentiment as possible and still be in the green so I doubt it would change.

The action was the only thing I found to be novel of it, and there was a fair few of it. I disliked its "attempts" of world building and the political mapping in it. Its one of those series where if you like the setting then you probably could get a kick out of it. but its absolutely not a collection that you would read if you're not cultishly engrossed in the setting. So standard bl slop really.
>>
>>98479262
depends on what your idea of “proper book writing quality” is, but its pretty passable as long as you stick to pre-5th edition books. there are plenty of moments I was engrossed in, and I never saw a writing decision that actively pissed me off to read.
>>
>>98479262
It depends heavily on the book. Some are legit kino. Storm of Iron is still god tier as far as bolter porn goes, and basically codified the Iron Warriors as a whole. The whole Uriel Ventris series does a lot of groundwork for the modern depiction of marines in general, both traitor and loyalist. Eisenhorn is popular for good reason even if it's got some silly nonsense in it. Ravenor, likewise. Gaunt's Ghosts aged poorly even if it handles war drama well; Gaunt himself is very Mary Sueish and hard to like, you really just read it for the Ghosts themselves. There are much better Guard novels than Gaunt's Ghosts out there, like Deathworlder. Commissar Cain is fantastically fun as a humorous spin on the setting, but very cookie-cutter from one book to the next, if you've read one Cain book you've read them all. Warhammer Crime novels tend to be surprisingly fun despite what you may expect, definitely recommend looking at a few of them because they prove the setting can be good fun even without massive wars. If you want to dip into the HH novels, Know No Fear and Scars are both largely standalone masterpieces you can pick up and enjoy without needing to read any of the other slop in the series. Horus Rising is good, Mechanicum is good, Saturnine is good, much of the rest has way more mixed opinions overall.

It will most likely be a primaris dreadnought that Bjorn got put in and Bjorn will say how good it feels better than the stumpy boxnought to lore wank it.
And if it doesn't sell well then GW will pump the stats up to make him very viable on the tabletop for WAACfag money.

I do have a schizo theory that boxnoughts were planned to have a slight appearance update to make their legs slightly longer to stay giant in the midst of scale creep and maybe to even look like they can walk properly and even move like they did in the Space marine 1 vidya.

I do not play guard
I feign ignorance and say "I thought guardsmen were cannon fodder who suck and die" when guard players get mad and talk about how guard are actually the top 1% of non-augmented humans.

Imperial Guard is punchier and sounds better when said aloud. The only people I've heard call it Astra Militarum are Youtube influencers and the noobiest of noobs.
Drukhari is really the only one of GW's trademarkable name changes that really work in my opinion. It's the same syllable count as Dark Eldar and gives them a bit more identity than "Eldar but bad"

I had always heard the guard was 'badass' for being random farmers armed with flashlights but any time I've said this online or offline to guard players you get hit with seething about how Guard are actually extreme elites because the Tithe obligates people to send their best or something retarded.

Altansar was trapped in the gravity well of the Eye of Terror after the Fall of the Eldar, and 500 years after that they were dragged in. For nearly 10k years, they've been barely holding together against a near-perpetual siege by Chaos, a time of which they still refuse to speak to outsiders. During the Fall of Cadia, the Phoenix Lord of the Dark Reapers, Maugan Ra, walked into the Warp to find Altansar, since it was his homeworld. His footsteps burned with blazing white fire that the Warp could not destroy, and it was this path he blazed while fighting off the legions of Chaos single-handedly that Altansar was able to follow out of the Eye. Now that they're free, they're some of the most radically anti-Chaos of all Craftworlders, even more so than Ulthwe.
However, even now that they've escaped, they're extremely reclusive, little is known of their secretive culture, and they refuse to show their faces to outsiders, which has led to some other Craftworlds suspecting the Altansarians have horrible scars and mutations from their battles in the Eye. The lore suggests another possibility, that hiding their appearance may be not due to taint from Chaos but some kind of tradition of shame and fear. Most accept that if Maugan Ra vouches for them, and they're still fighting Chaos rather than helping it, they're (probably) okay.

I think the Chinese government doesn’t like excessive vidya playing so it might push a popular miniature wargame.
It makes me curious as to how gw would respond to the game if it got so popular that it became a common site at the lgs.
I think gw put out aeronautica because of x-wing but the scenario I’m talking about is something else. Something bigger.

ubisoft wanted the chinese market so after the first year when they finally fixed the server issues and got all the planned new hero releases done they threw out the dynamic of a three way between vikings knights and samurai and added a chinese faction who stomped all three and started targeting the samurai so hard the alliance the other three had tried and failed to get going was finally activated again
3 of the four release chinese characters were so broken they completely killed the new mode everybody was begging for
it was the single worst thing they added to the game

They tried new things.

Many communities love the exact same thing so much that anything different is scorned. Halo players hate it when weapons besides precisions are meta. Tekken players hate it when characters aren't single buttons auto combos with only offensive options being meta. For Honor players hate it when characters don't play just like the others. Variety is the bane of their existence. This is why whenever Ubisoft tries new characters with different mechanics like the Benkei clone who gathers power through dealing specific hits leading to an instant kill attack, they were mad. The Chinese characters included some mechanics easy to adapt to but they hate it when they can't follow a flowchart. It's just like when Ken players can't.

They designed OK for once. Most launch herpes are broken but not them. The chinks are actually the most middling characters in term of performance, none of them are completely garbage or OP cunts. People shit on them because real china = bad so any chinese in any media ever = bad but from a purely gameplay perspective they are probably the best designed faction because of that. Tiandi was garbage against anyone with good reactions and Jiang Jun got a zone attack out of heavy parry, at least that's how it was at launch. Also extremely GB vulnerable and doesn't offer great offense or big punishes although it can escape some specific mixups that don't involve feint to GB.

>>
>>98480063
I am far from the toppest-tier player here but there's kind of two "tracks" here that have been moving balance.

Firstly, before the removal of option selects, characters were much more difficult to kill and much more capable of anti-ganking. As a result, the meta revolved around heroes that could gank effectively, confirming lots of damage while giving the opponent very little opportunity to do anything about it. Basically, the meta revolved around getting AROUND the ability to option select. Heroes like Shaman, Gladiator, or Centurion were basically required as roaming gankers.

After the removal of OSs, all of those heroes fell out of the meta. Now that going for parries is far less safe, the game's all about big teamfighters. Anyone with a giant orange attack is a very good pick in Dominion right now, as you're far less likely to eat a parry now that nobody can safely option-select your attacks. So, in general, heroes that teamfight well all got a boost. The kings of the current game are indisputably Jiang Jun and Raider.

Secondly, Ubisoft's been pushing out character reworks at a significantly increased pace compared to what they did pre-Marching Fire, and the reworks tend to be really strong. Generally I'd say this is a good thing, but you do see a trend where the heroes with older movesets that haven't been touched in a while tend to be weaker. Shaolin, Nuxia, Jormungandr and Conqueror all fall into this category (although it's worth noting that this game relies enough on fundamentals that even bottom-tier characters like those can still do work; one of the players on a top team recently styled on people in the dom series qualifiers with Nuxia). Conqueror's next up for a rework, so that's good news.

It's worth noting that, outside of like competitive scrims, MOST of this stuff doesn't matter that much. The tier lists in this game are pretty squishy, as matchup knowledge and game sense tend to matter far, far more than your hero's moveset

It would just be warhammer but with chinese names.

I know anon. I too can't stand it. I was excited for some Slaanesh activities in 3 Kingdoms only to learn they're removing it then.

Would they have the Holace Helesy?

chinese are spiritual third worlders only westerners and civilized asians (japs) care about 'actually being good at the game without cheating'.
>>
>>98480276
>slaanesh mentioned
Is the sexual aspect of slaanesh more downplayed and kept as implied or does detail get put into it?
Was this just for main bl books and we still got that for horror and crime?
I’m surprised gw hasn’t made warhammer romance novels yet. That target women.

>>chinese warrior update
>tiandi (vanguard) was great at light attack spam, but didnt have much to fight competent players
>nuxia stomped clueless players but was absolutely useless against people who knew her gimmick and could block/parry light attacks
>jiang jun was excellent for 4v4 but not particulary outstanding, didnt really have any way to attack good players in duels
>shaolin was a neat character but had very low damage and couldnt really pressure good players

>>meanwhile black prior update
>hes ridiculously overpowered
>a bit before his exclusivity period ran out, they fixed something in him that removed 1 of his 15 overpowered things

Since China is mentioned what are some good Chinese recasters that recast in hard plastic instead of resin?
I need a Chinese plastic recaster so much lads.

It angers me that hard plastic Lego bootlegs and related stuff for kids gets made but it is all resin recasts for warhammer.
>>
>>98480315
>plastic recasters
there are none
there are a couple metal recasters out there but they have very limited catalogs
>>
>>98480299
Such is the case for new characters in any game. At first it's thought they're OP but that's because nobody got used to them yet. For every true broken Leeroy Smith, most just needed time to adjust.
>>
>>98480305
Very few women actually take part in warhammer for the love of the miniature painting hobby.
I know what you’re hinting at so maybe the warhammer romance novels may not sell well.
>>
>>98480312
you can flip anything in the game EXCEPT a guardbreak
black prior can punish the absolute dog water out of predictable retards that don't feint
but if you're opponent sees what you're doing they can fuck you easily by feinting a top heavy and guardbreaking you. not to mention he has some decent unblockables that can be feinted. by 1800 hours you should know by now that reacting to BP bash consistently is not only very hard, but it's not punishable via GB, unless they changed it since I last played
>>
>>98480319
Who are the metal recasters?
I’m sometimes thinking of selling my metal models to replace them with 3d prints because I’ve seen horror stories of stolen models.
Makes me want to just use an army of stls made up of high quality scans and third party stls. It will suck if my models are stolen but then I could print a replacement.
Im not sure how to get models back when they get stolen. Or if law enforcement will even bother. It would be funny if a warhammer model thief got arrested and the bodycam footage came out.
I listen to bodycams to use as background noise.
>>
>>98480330
>if you go into your obvious guard stance that's unsafe on react you can flip people!
wow just delete the character he's BUSTED busted

Reminder to not listen to a fag who wants

>another option select into his kit in addition to zone/bullwark/bullwark UB/CC lights
>ez pz one shot GB throw damage that wouldnt require any effort to land on top of his already retarded risk/reward damage output ratio
>being chase buffed even more when he's a character who's literally not supposed to have a good chase on top of how retarded his looped-damage toolkit is
BP quite literally had every single tool in the entire game besides any chase tools. His weakness should be that he can't chase. That was BP then.

BP stance to anyone who knows what they're doing is very hard to punish. by 1800 hours you should see players that don't do it blind
>>
>>98480348
You would have a point if you were talking about the duellist bitch who's ACTUALLY got a busted stance since she can easily react out of it if you try to do the moves that counter it
But you're a shitter so you don't know what you're talking about
>>98480366
I've got over 2k hours in the game, you're just bad sorry
>>
>>98480299
He had fucky if not glitched properties too. For some reason BP can just on reaction negate Shinobi's ranged GB while in Bulwark stance. If Shinobi is close enough BP can even get his own GB while Shinobi is in recovery.
>>
>>98480312
>Bash has almost no recovery
>His Zone is a stupidly safe and strong OS
>Bulwark nets too much damage (24 dmg is too high.)
>Bulwark fast flow (literally 0ms.) is too effective at killing offense
>Has literally no weaknesses other than "run away"
>Backlight OS is stupid
>100% damage reduction during flip? Stupid as shit.
>Unlike WL, Valk, and Conqueror's fullblock, his doesn't drain stam passively, only doing so on entry & block, despite already being stronger than all of the others.
>Phalanx, but better as a T4
>Bash drains stam and pauses regen
>Heavy finishers have larger hitbox than the actual animation implies
>Bulwark slash has larger hitbox + better tracking than animation implies

Hes pretty op anon
