DO HUMAN AUXILIARIES GET TO PILOT THEM??
Yes, we see an Inquisitor pilot a broadside battlesuit at one point
>>98480381Or, rather, a former inquisitor turned gue'vesa.
>>98480381>>98480388I just came a little in my pants. That does it, I'm defecting to the Tau'va.
>>98480371No this is only for super cool fire caste tau. Human auxiliaries are used for lowly services, like taking care of helping lonely tau wives with yoga, fixing their sinks, delivering pizza, fixing the pool, and other similar low-status jobs.
>>98480401Fun fact, the suits even come with their own onboard AI companion, so you even get a little Cortana-esque assistant (they’re apparently advanced enough that some of the pilots get really attached to them)
>>98480415Look man, being the local sexman and banging 10/10 busty blue aliens is fun and all, but we're talking the possibility of driving a flying mecha.
>"As Ghostkeel pilots are known to spend long periods in isolation behind enemy lines, many pilots form strong bonds with their suit's AI. Many pilots become so introverted that they shun physical interaction, preferring the company of their AI system."
Wait, does this mean there are also kroot, vespid, etc. pilots?
>>98483482Kroot, no. The Kroot reject the Tau's technology because they believe it would get in the way of their evolutionary process. Vespid, maybe. We don't know of any examples but they don't straight up reject Tau technology like the Tau do, but there might be issues with their biology.
>>98480371most probably no. It's a Fire Caste thing, and auxiliaries are by definition outside the caste system. If a human family stayed inside Tau society for a few centuries AND being allowed to have children during that whole period, and one of said children happened to be a prodigy with both their tec and military tactics then I guess it could be possible>>98484378same case as above, I thinkthe vespid have very limited uses for Tau tech outside weaponry. Hell even getting to talk to each other was a difficult process only made possible by advanced cyber implants because of how different they are biologically
Last I checked of a human attempting to pilot a battle suit was Quidlon "Brains" in The Last Chancers: Killteam book, it ended horribly for him as he died trying to interface with the suit.
>>98484759That's probably more of a security measure than a biological thing given we have seen a gue'vesa pilot a battlesuit before
>>98484759>it ended horribly for him as he died trying to interface with the suit.Wasn't that because the suit's security fried him, not just because the interface was weird?
>>98484792>>98484815Probably was, I just assumed when I read the book a few years ago it was an incompatibility issue because the book describes him as a tech savant which is why he got incarcerated to begin with plus I think the suit was Brightsword's which was their target in the book. Its been a while so I'll have to reread it
>>98484823Brightsword is so fucking cool.-massive chuuni -close quarter specialist before Farsight-unsheathes his bonding knife at the slightest provocation-handsome and fashionable-flame decals on his battlesuit-personal icon is two swords on fire forming a X-got cloned at least 3 times because he keeps getting himself killed for HONOR-isn't bothered at all by the fact that he's a clone of a clone of a clone
Gue'vesa weapons and equipment in the lore so far:1-"Broken Sword" from the Damocles Anthology:-Pulse Carbines/Rifles-Fire Warrior armour-A devilfish transport-A Gue'vesa'O (former inquisitor) with his Nagi advisor piloting a T'au suit. An irregular thing about this individual is that he seemed to be commanding the T'au Fire Warriors alongside him.2-"Shape of the Hunt" audio story-Devilfish transports-Pulse Rifles/Carbines3-The "Death Rider"The Gue'vesa were armed and armoured identically to fire warriors to the point that Imperials couldn't tell Gue'vesa and T'au apart.4-"Devilhunter"A Gue'vesa scout helping the T'au hunt a Tyranid bioform was armed with a Railgun.5-Apocalypse rulebook (2013)There is a "Forging the Narrative" box that encourages players to use Imperial Guard formations to represent Gue'vesa forces.Among the available formations for the Guard in the rulebook are superheavy tanks.
>>98484870>-got cloned at least 3 times because he keeps getting himself killed for HONOR7 times.>-isn't bothered at all by the fact that he's a clone of a clone of a cloneHe is bothered by it, but he hides it behind a mask of humor so that he wouldn't break down crying from the existential trauma.Source id "Farsight: B lade of Truth".
>>98484872Yeah the common thread in gue'vesa sections seems to be that they're basically equipped the same as Fire Warriors. The whole 'Tau use Gue'vesa as cannon fodder' meme comes from the campaign rules released for the Taros campaign, where the 'gue'vesa' in that campaign weren't integrated members of the Tau empire, but rather hastily assembled militia from a planet rebelling against the Imperium that hadn't had time yet to be fully equipped so the Tau just handed them whatever pulse rifles they could spare leading them to look mostly like an Imperial Guard unit with a handful of Tau weapons mixed in.
>>98484917The Taros book lore section says that the T'au don't treat Gue'vesa as cannon fodder but respect their fighting ability.
>>98480381>>98480388Sauce?
>>98484883thanks
>>98485000See >>98484872
>>98485086Thanks for the reminder.
>>98480371the average human aux isn't going to pilot them, from time to time an exception is made as scene with the mentioned inquisitor but as stated these are exceptions not the norm
Do gue'vesa get a cute Tau wife?
>>98485886the unironic answer is no, since humans (and any tau allied species) is not really part of the caste system they wouldn't be allowed to breed with said tau since they take the genetic purity of each caste seriously to the point tau from different castes aren't allowed to breed, that being said I don't recall any rules about auxes from different races not being able to marry so if you are feeling really freaky you can have a kroot gf
>>98485860>>98485915bit racist innit?
>>98485958This may shock you, but the Tau, despite their message, are incredibly racist.
>>98485958yes, but just about everybody in the setting is racist, with the only exception being nids and thats more to do with the hive just viewing everything as prety which doesn't really fit in the typical racial views
>>98486053are the orks racist considering their philosophy about life.
>>98486069gitz whose aint orky enough gets krumpednot racist, just don't like emend of
>>98486069orks are racist since they view anybody that aren't orcs as lesser (that and they treat grots like absolute shit) but due to it being tied to their wacky nature and their need to just fight anything they aren't really racist to the same degree as the Imperium
>>98485886>>98485915Just go to the Farsight Enclaves, the caste system has eroded a lot there and they let them mix and even get into different fields of work if they want to.
>>98485886Tau aesthetics prefer thin, lithe forms, so the gue'vesa get all the undesirable fat-assed titcows.
>>98486069>green is da bestoh, I dont know
>>98480521wow... he's just like... me...
>>98480371seems unlikely given the wariness humans are looked upon with. considering humans get killed when faced with forces of chaos because they pose too much of a liability it doesn't seem unreasonable for the Tau to restrict them from certain gear since against the wrong enemy they could easily flip. also I have never seen a chaos corrupted battle/crisis suit. so there's that
>>98486081wow absolute horrendous shit take. orks have no concept of race. to them everything is a boy and the only boy worth caring about is one who gives you a good fight. ffs yarrik alone disproves your entire garbage opinion
>>98485886>>98485915It should be noted that there's no reason to believe that Tau and Humans can actually make babies together in the first place. While the Tau disapprove of intercaste breeding, there's been no indication that they would oppose relationships that don't result in children.
>>98492424>orks have no concept of racethey outright differentiate various races in the setting, there is a reason you never see an ork call an eldar a humie, that alone should tell you that yes they do have a concept of race, and again they certainly treat grots differently despite being far more related to them>but what about Yarricka rare exception to the general rule, and even then Gaz was debating on letting him go versues torturing him to death for the lols
>>98492424LORELET ALERTLORELET ALERTNot only do they distinguish races, they also discriminate among one another based on skin color. You gotta be propa orky and you can't be propa if you aint green enuff
>>98486069'ate panzies'ate bugs'ate fish boyz'ate 'umies'ate spikey gitz'ate stunties'ate metal gitznot racist or nuffin, just don't like 'emluv me flashluv me choppaluv me squigsimple as
>>98492424Da Blue Grot fan detected
>>98484917I feel like the impression people need to have from Auxiliaries isn't that they will have their lives thrown away for no cause; only that they're always second to racial T'au; who are sacrificed for the greater good on a regular basis when objectives can be achieved no other way.The T'au are for all their failings a very strong meritocracy, so exceptional humans who achieve great deeds will be uplifted and treated with preference. So far as being treated with dignity and less like a pawn, the Enclaves are as close as you get to that, and that's where some of the bloodiest and fiercest fighting is found for T'au and their allies.Still if it's the choice between being sacrificed along with my planet to preserve the Imperium in Exterminatus and going down laughing and screaming knee deep in Ork guts emptying my burst cannon when the XV-25's stealth system fails under load, I'm gonna do big red proud.
>>98498162The impression I get is, humans aren't trusted just because they defected. Many of them still hold imperial beliefs, some are even just "defecting" to infiltrate and sabotage them, some only did it because the alternative was death but they're totally planning to set off a bomb in their HQ as soon as they can then run away. This means they can't just give the big guns to the gue'vesa right away, lest they recreate that one scene from Django Unchained with the dynamite. But if the gue'vesa prove themselves worthy and do genuinely seem to believe in the ideals of the empire/the enclaves? Then yes, they get to have all the toys. Even up to and including the big suits, as the aforementioned inquisitor defector. I mean, there's even books where gue'vesa get to be personal bodyguards to ethereals, can't possibly get much more trusting than letting an armed human near your religious and societal leader at all times.
>>98484872Why won't GW give Gue'vesa models? I mean shit, they aren't even supported in the codex.
>>98498846Technically gue'vesa rules in the codex would be identical to Fire Warrior rules. For all intents and purposes, Gue'vesa would just be a different model of Fire Warrior that you treat the same as a Fire Warrior for the sake of the rules. Hell, you wouldn't even change much about the model, literally only the feet and hands would change.
>>98480371What I find funny about 40k and the Tau is that; in other more "postive" sci-fi settings, aliens tend to annoy me and I'm full "fuck 'em all, humanity forever" and then in 40k I'm like "peace and love bros, hug 'em all" and that's why I like Tau.
>>98498846Just paint some cadians orange and proxy them as fire warriorsLiterally why does anyone want this anyway? If you want humans, play the many human factions.
>>98480371Why the fuck would you want to? Big bullet magnets that get sent into greater danger? Let the xenos do that shit.
>>98498884Honestly same. Might just be cause the Imperium's acting like it speaks for all of humanity while they treat their humans like shit rubs me the wrong way.
>>98498904It's no more a bullet magnet than a Space Marine is, and significantly harder to kill than one.
>>98498846>why does the alien faction not have yet more human modelsgolly gee i wonder why
>>98498924...so? That's still not a reason to do it, you don't actually have to pick one or the other, you can just stay home.
>>98498877they could probably have better melee (relatively speaking) to your average firewarrior, just balance it in a way where they aren't conflicting with kroot in a tau army and act more as an all rounder
>Takes a fraction of the time it takes to build a battlesuit that it takes to train and equip a Space Marine>Can casually equip about 10% of their military with battlesuits, meaning they likely far outnumber even the Space Marines themselves>All this despite being an average nameless battlesuit being better than an average nameless space marine>Integrated seamlessly into their military organization instead of being separated off into separate chapters Unironically battlesuits are a way better weapon than Space Marines.
>>98499037I personally would just replace Breacher Squads with them. They're already the CQC unit of the Tau, basically room-clearing pulse-shotgun wielding urban warfare/close quarters experts, so might as well just bump up their melee stat by 1, slightly increase the cost, and give them Gue'vesa models.
