I was going to make this thread about Changelings but you guys had enough faggotry in the last thread.

Why is Vampire the Masquerade seemingly immune to the shitflinging seen in Werewolf and Mage? Why is there no constant back-and-forth over who is more right and wrong out of the different sects?

While Traditionfags and Technofags tear into each other non-stop and Garoufags and Weaverfags argue incessantly, it seems like it's generally agreed that the Camarilla are the sane ones, the Sabbat are charmingly retarded, the Anarchs are annoyingly retarded, and the True Black Hand is retarded as a concept. Why is this?

Are they? I see more of a cognitive dissonance and treatment of humans as non-person NPCs and walking blood points, rather than actual people in VtM. I don't tend to see people talk about or even realise that their characters are evil monsters who revel in human suffering.

Werewolf is about the packs. Mages is about how you see reality to create magic. Both of these groups are similar because they effect the state of the world and each individual group is about making the world reflect the state they want.

Vampires is a game about you coming to the terms with a condition that forces you at some point to drain another person for their life's essence to exist. All factions are just a reflection of how they cope with that. Regardless if vampires think if the answer is to rule the world with an iron fist or to pretend to be human. The main issue thing they can't escape that they'll never be free of the thirst for blood.

Werewolves and mages can pretend what they do is ultimately for a greater good or whatever to lead to the best version of the world they want to see.

I've never seen anyone actually try to portray a vampire faction that wants to improve the world state for the "better" of everyone. Closest to that are paths and people who choose humanity. So I assume that's why vampires really don't get into the same fights that werewolves and mage players do. That or they literally just want to play their favorite clan and prove it's better than the rest more than who is right.

No one in particular. I can not claim to know what is the most popular clan nor do I genuinely believe the clan i'm about to say is definitely that. I am thinking of the Lasombra when I wrote it. For whatever reason it seems to attract people for the themes of being the shadow person and they use their shadow power to be the best. Basically I feel like people see it as the goth vampire clan for whatever reason and just picks it for the aesthetics and that is as deep as it goes.

That's why I feel it's hard to say for certain which clan is the most popular. Tremere, Tzimisce, and Lasombra attract mostly powergamers i'd argue but that's from point of view. Brujah is the simplest but I rarely see people play Brujah more about being the best and typically lean more towards i'm right mentality. Toreador is one the more annoying clans of how effective as vampires they actually are, but rarely do they need to prove they are the best or care to.

I just put the Lasombra in that pool because the people who typically play it tend to do it in a way they care less about the actual lore behind the clan and more about being the best. That said that honestly applies to Tzimisce and Tremere as well. I don't even know if fuck the Tremere has just turned into another meme or not.

I'm pretty sure that one has very little power actually defined by the rules. The appeal of the Tzimisce is mostly thematic and aesthetic. The only way to actually make Vicissitude powerful is by badgering the ST into compliance with your power fantasy.

If you took Vicissitude away from the Tzimisce, if you made them all old clan and they only had Koldunic, you'd see the playercount plummet.

People aren't playing Tzimisce. Whether it's for art or trooning or powergaming, they are playing Vicissitude. Tzimisce is just the clan that comes with it.

Eh, i'm going off of memory of what i've experienced. You are correct that Tzimisce can be nerfed by a storyteller waving their nonsense away, but even I feel as if their power has been nerfed over the various editions. Still they do have access to sorcery, body change power, paths as they're usually a sabbat clan, and not a bad third discipline. But hey maybe i've just had a bad sample pool with the clan.

I have been no games ever since my friend died and the group imploded. Ive tried on a few occasions to get the group back together but to no success. I had a camarilla chronicle half way planned out where the prince goes mad from the red star and the coterie needs to supplant her and her sycophants before the sabbat and anarchs take full advantage of the situation. Ive had long talks with one of my friends and we both think the Bakeslave character is my way to cope with the loss of the group. Some days it makes me feel better and other days I feel like an imposter or just someone lost in my reveries. Sorry for the blogpost.

Vicissitude 6 makes anyone whos halfway intelligent effectively immortal. With Body Impolitic & Graft Life to Life, you can stash back ups of you all over the place. You just have to take a body, connect with it via an umbilical, then sever it & tell it to go hide in the mud under some bog & sleep, send it to another city & lay low, send it to an opposing faction & be a spy, etc. You could make a small army of you stored in key locations all around a city. Depending on what other powers you have you could do some crazy things.

The biggest limit is giving them vitae. Depending on what your storyteller says, you could give them more vitae storage so you dont have to have them or yourself run low on vitae

wod 5 is also even less crossover friendly than previous editions of owod like there are no crossover rules (what happens to a hunters "i have a drone" and "i am good with animals" edges upon embrace? how do clashes between powers work? etc) at all and some mundane stuff that's stated in two games has different stats in both. which is wild given how much they just feel like reskins of v5 when you play them

Look man, you should seek your closest relatives and friends for comfort. Losing people is hard, losing a close friend is harder. While I like that you are doing this for your sake and their memories, 4chan threads can do the opposite, since anonymity makes it easy to be huge asshole.

Try to get your friend group back together. If not, try to find people you can mesh well because losing someone leaves a hole you need to fill. Bakeslave character isn't bad, you shouldn't feel like an impostor. Think of it like the memory of your friend or perhaps a character both of you would like to play as.

But hey, look at the bright side. You are there, your other friends are there, presumably you also have family and relatives too. And the memory of your lost friend is in all of you. Even if you believe in a religion or not, they live through your memories.

Eh... dark ages can get that normally, & all you have to do to get 6 dots is take gen 5 & eat your sire, which happens pretty often in games. If it was 7+ I would agree with you. But even just 5 dots does the same thing, you just wouldnt have Graft Life to Life (which some STs wouldnt even require as they already let Tzims do it normally). Graft Life to Life just gives you more mass to work with. 5 dots alone can still send something like your heart or a sliver of flesh off to hide somewhere so you never die & can always regenerate

You can, at character creation, build Metal Gear Rising Raiden.
Maybe not the metal gear flipping, but you can have a monomolecular katana (artifact) and Bladewolf as a companion (Drone Jockey, that one talent that makes it armed).

H5 is THE most powerful you've ever been able to make a Hunter. You can be an alchemist, because all Edges can be technological or magical or alchemical or etc - so if you have Fleet, the vehicle edge, you can alchemically summon a Buick.

I implore people to ACTUALLY read what the Imbued could do. Your powers were not that extreme. Most of them you could reasonably excuse as not even being powers - you can be ignored by monsters as an innocent because they don't see you as a threat, etc. Only ONE version of the Imbued turned you into Alexander Anderson and you didn't have the capacity to smite people unless you had a Tier 5, which you weren't supposed to get unless it was your last stand death scene.

most of the things you hunt in h5 are also that low tier and unlike old htr and vigil you ONLY have the option use the generic monster rules even when you are hunting splat members

and said splat members in the books are: a single confederate vampire who been in topor since the american civil war, a runaway ronin without gifts, a single ghost etc

most of the things you hunt are actually creepypasta (more than a decade after the creepypasta craze). The game really wants to be very early supernatural where monsters have one thing going. you find the weakness and then they are toast and you ride off into the sunset

The art of H5 literally depicts a group of who-gives-a-shits hunting down, and killing, 2 Garou. One of THE toughest things in the setting, at a base level.

You're right in that you usually hunt a single thing (kind of, not really - it notes that the non-monstrous vampire example monster, Efrain (who's notably a brown guy in the local Mexican occult scene, not a Confederate) has ghouls that are "never far away"), they're far from harmless. Pic related is a horrible fleshcrafted thing that your players are expected to kill

I've seen Mark of the Beast Lucifuge go hit for hit with an ancilla vampire. A drone and a monokatana ain't shit compared to TF:V's grenades that make shapeshifters go back to human form, or their gun that makes mages shit themselves so hard they can't cast.

Tier 3 Vigil is definitely the peak of Hunter power. Especially since, if you wanna play munchkin, you can also use supernatural merits in tandem.
