>>98491081I honestly don't have a problem with it. That's basically all the community does these days and it's not exclusive to this thread. I'd just be interested in seeing the hypothetical argument behind the effect itself being good design beyond "UB bad".I spend a lot of time in custom card spheres and it's interesting how often people design cards that are basically "Ward - Hexproof. >>98491123Yes anon there's a small difference between three cards aimed at once set each, and a card aimed at half the sets in the game going forward. Unless all your decks are 50% or more Arabian Nights it's not an apt comparison.

>>98491197Until such a time as the number of Universes Beyond originals is equal to the number of Magic originals, the converse card would be an even less apt comparison. Even then, it wouldn't be for the simple reason that "locking out half the cards in the game, excluding basic lands" and "locking out half the cards in the game, including basic lands" are wildly different in power level.

>>98491227There are about 28,542 non-UB cards in the game right now that are legal in EDH. There are 3,289 UB original cards legal in EDH. Even going by the generous literal ratio, that's 11% when Arabian Nights has less than 11 playable cards, let alone good ones.
>>98490462>TQ
>>98491258why are you angry at jerma though?
>>98491258And, at the time Arabian Nights released, there were a total of 369 cards in the game, 77 of which were new in Arabian Nights. That's close to 21% of the cards that existed when it was printed.
>>98490181Me too bro
>>98491228The funny thing about having good pulls in a booster is the fact that your good pull means there are 5 bad pulls elsewhere. So you directly contributed to making sure some other paypiggie got fucked 5x over.
>>98491307Yeah i watched someone a few hours earlier open like 3-4 packs with only one decent hit (46€) lol
>>98491290It was also competing against full power ABU which completely mogged it in powerlevel while ARN was also one of the smallest sets ever printed. Where again if you want the card compared against the enviornment it's being placed into, 50% of sets right now are UB. They only tried set hosers 3 times, after which they realized it was untenable to maintain because it created a large number of logistical problems without really improving the game.
>>98491307How do I check how many cards of X type are out there? For example, let's say I'm after Pingo, The Maiden Luster, and I buy boosters for it in order to get it. How do I know how many of that card are in circulation vs. how many are still inside sealed packages? Is there even a way to know?Or another example: I buy a Collector's Box that includes 15 Collector's Booster Packs inside. How do I know if there's a specific card that everyone already got and there's a 0% chance of appearing because they're all out in circulation? Please help this is very important.

>>98491197Newfag-kun you when do you think that card was made?
>>98491341You don't. Wizards intentionally keeps it secret, which to be fair is smart because if it was public information you better believe there'd be a tracking site where investards get together to try and figure out how many of X are left out there to see whether or not its worth risking buying a pack. If people knew in general their chances of cracking a chase card were severely diminished sales of those packs would drop.Afaik only serialized cards have a definite known number.

If UB is not prominent enough to warrant that kind of hate piece, then making one wouldn't warp the format too much. If UB is prominent enough that kind of hate piece would significantly warp the format, then it's proof that UB is pushed at a scale that's powercreeped the format ajd is bad for it.You spend a lot of threads simping for UB but I've yet to see you ever make one good argument.

If UW is prominent enough that kind of hate piece would significantly warp the format, then it's proof that UW is pushed at a scale that's powercreeped the format and is bad for it.see how this can be argued both ways? cedh still uses UW wincons like thoracle breach and cradle so if anything a UW city in a bottle (that handles cards printed before 2012 for example) is actually what's needed
>>98491447What goalposts are being moved? You're advocating on behalf of a card design that was demoted to silver border because they realized that once reprints were a thing it wasn't reasonable to expect players to track it, and the tradeoff was the ability to randomly push a win button. The fact you're doing mental gymnastics to justify how it's fair to lock out cards as long as they're not yours is indicative of how you yourself recognize it's not a desirable play pattern but have yet to make the distinction between your dislike of UB (common sentiment) and an unhealthy card design that happens to align with this dislike.

>>98491539>if you don't want to play magicwell guess what anon magic is UB now and if you don't want to play magic there's always riftbound and lorcana that's surely more up your alley!
>>98491233I built her ironically. Her tribal effect is quite powerful considering she costs 2 mana. This isn't the actual version of the deck I ended up settling on, but you could probably run her with decent success just by jamming in overrun effects. Satyrs are extremely low-curve; they also suck ass, meaning you can always discard to Gallia's trigger for card advantage. And since she gives them haste you really just need some more ways to buff them. Then your board will suddenly be very threatening for very minimal investment.
>>98491529Completely blowing people the fuck out is fun sometimes, but the back and forth is the point of the game. If you only have fun with one sided wins, you may as well just goldfish your and see if you can't hit your wincon in X turns.

Green's worse off but griggers don't need help.

>>98492064Green is absolutely not worse off. They can hit artifacts and enchantments for cheap and have multitarget removal for them, and have cheap as chips bite spells for creatures.Bolt does not hit that much. >>98492122The problem with bite spells is that most of them need a creature on the field, barring exceptions like Charge of the Forever-Beast, which is a sorcery anyway. Besides needing that setup, it makes any spot removal in the opponent's hand a two-for-one.>Blasphemous Act is only good because it can cost oneHow is that an argument? You can say the same thing about Sol Ring. Yes, a card being undercosted for its effect is good. And it's not "only good" because of that. Blasphemous Act dealing damage works as a potential combo piece with any Repercussion or Stuffy Doll types of effects. It resolving can actively win you the game, something that I don't think a lot of other wipes can manage. It being one lets you also immediately work at rebuilding your board, which, if you're fast, can lead to you swinging into an empty table.>Chaos warpYou undersold it.>It's a counterspell counterspell.People will play Dispel despite that actually being what you just said in 90% of cases, and for one mana you can blow up someone's existing blue commander of you drew it too late to catch them on the cast.

Quick question, whats everyone's experience with the big name sleeve brands, cause got a few boxes of sleeves for my birthday recently, funny enough by different friends who didnt know the others were gifting me sleeves, and im about to assemble a new deck soon but unsure which sleeves to use, cause it'll be a pain to unsleeve and resleeve and I keep getting various answers. Basically what I have is ultimate guard katana, dragon shield brushed art sleeves, and ultrapro apex sleeves. Hard to pick in the sense of how many conflicting responses ive been seeing
>>98492227i use dragon shield, they are often more expensive though
So how much did the Miku SL sell? I'm curious.
>>98492253lots
>>98492156You can only get *surge* foils of cards in collector packs. This Buster Sword is a regular alt art regular foil, which means (at an absurdly low chance) you can get them in a play booster source: i have spent way too much on packs lately. For my fellow whales, paypigs, retards and vocaloid fans (quadruple tautology!), what will you all be upgrading your Miku precons with. Dug through the dozen oatmeal boxes I store all of my bulk in, and somehow pic related wound up in there. Also wound up finding a playset of Essence Warden, which somehow comes out to $60 in maple monopoly monies. Consider this (You)r sign to check your bulk I guess, lol

Only the most whiny bitchmode limpwrists would refer to themselves as a "chad."This thread's interactions only confirm this.

Definitely no colossal shitstorm from that that caused the lead designer to promise not to make mechanically unique UB cards ever again, only to break that promise around 3 years later and claim he never promised it.Totally definitely not at all. Everyone was immediately on board from the beginning.

I want a durdle commander that doesn't attract a lot of heat. What's a good archetype for that? Group hug?
>>98493902>Uncounterable>Hard to kill>Draws cards>Sit around drawing cards and no one attacks you because 7/7 blocker
>>98492652>One of my other creaturesSo how many cards do you need on the field to use your removal? What happens after someone plays a "bad" Blasphemous Act, drops some bomb, and then passes?>but that doesn't make them good removal it only makes them good in decks that use that stategy.I'm sorry, but you're an idiot, dude. The mirror to your argument is that bite cards are only good if you're running a deck that cares about big creatures or deathtouch. It's a redundant statement since the types of decks that would be able to run it might as well run the other pieces to make that work.>symmetrucal boardwipes are kind of assPlease play the game before posting. Please.>>blue is in literally every bad, don't you know???>It isn'tLet's run some math. There are 32 color combinations in mtg. Of them, 1 monocolor has blue, 4 two-color, 6 three-color, 4 four-color, and WUBRG. Half the color combinations in the game have blue, so, assuming each combination is equally likely to show up, each player is likely to have a 50% of running blue, or 50% chance of not running blue. There are three opponents, so every 1/8 games with this assumption will not feature blue. The flaw in this argument is that it assumes every color combination is equally represented, but realistically that's not making your case any better. An Esper control commander just surpassed the previous champion, a WUBRG, on edhrec's popularity count. Anecdotally I would put this figure closer towards 1/12 in actual games because of that stack interaction.Bottom-line, it's going to have a meaningful target in most games.>the commander isn't always that great.People run Run Away.
>>98493588Which way?
>>98493989>but what ifI play my own bomb then bite his.>all red decks run reverberateThey don't though. Vs all green decks running creatures, which they do.>no gamesI've played for years. All they do is stall the game. I suppose if you've already set up a boardstate where you have the advantage without creatures (or nonland permanents depending on the boardwipe) and still have a full hand, they are fine. One sided boardwipes are just much, much better, though.>color shitI wouod like to point out that REB does not care about color identity, just the color of the permanent itself, so a great deal those commanders with blue in their color identity could not be hit by this.It will have a target in most games I would say. I would not say a meaningful one. And again, in many games it would not have a target at all. If you want to claim it isn't dogshit, be my guest, but it's far from good, and even if it were, that's a grand total of like 5 red removal cards (being generous) that are vaguely good.
>>98494021D. C is close. I'm 30, I want something real.
>>98494021the one where I take out my gun
>>98494021A.C is close, but she doesn't seem like the type that would still want to be in a relationship with me after playing against the kind of decks I play in 60 card.
What are some commanders that fly under the radar but are powerful once overlooked?>pic related
>>98494041>I play my own bomb then bite hisYou're getting into the territory of arguing that having a handful of cards, unlimited setup, and unlimited mana just to remove one creature makes green removal good.>>all red decks run reverberate>They don't thoughI didn't say Reverberate. I said Repercussion. And a lot of EDH players sleeping on that card doesn't change my evaluation of it because I'm not an idiot who needs to netdeck.>All they do is stall the gameThen you're using them wrong. Please address the "Blasphemous is so cheap you can immediately rebuild your field" point instead of repeatedly pretending it doesn't exist.>so a great deal those commanders with blue in their color identity could not be hit by this.If you search "-c:u id>=u -type:land type:legendary" on scryfall, you get 51 cards, and that list is including legendary equipment and Arena cards. There's a few good ones, I'll admit. You might find a Sisay or Tasigur at a Bracket 4/5 table where REB will have a target anyway because of the nature of those brackets, so the point is moot on your end anyway. From my own experience, the only few on the list that's not guaranteed to have a consistent target is really going to be Najeela and Leonardo.>If you want to claim it isn't dogshit, be my guestOkay, I will. It's good and you're an idiot.
