I simply do not get the appeal of tournament wargaming one bit. Why is every nuGW game's design approach centred around it too?

>>98494916The sad thing is that most sports these days are unplayable on a competitive level unless you're on roids, and if you're on roids it's a race to the bottom, with the advantage going to the one who does the most roids, so tabletop games with fair and balanced rules is the closest thing you can get to a real competition these days

tournaments are fun, they're essentially just scheduled days for people to get together and play multiple games back to backif you treat them as anything more than that, that's your fault, not the tournament's
>>98494887The appeal is fucking obvious. Doesn't mean you have to like it. Believe it or not, but competitive play is the best method of getting good balance out of games. GW just plain fucking sucks at writing rules so they made every table the same and symmetrical, each army has less flavor, and there's far less customization of units and characters. But tournaments are fun to play in. For people who cant get games in regularly, it's a good way to get a bunch of games and hang out with people. At least at the local level, I've never been to anything larger than an RTT aside for a Dire States event for Infinity a long time ago.

>>98494887They are a lot of fun and you should give it a shot(assuming you have an army). As others have said, its basically just a way to get a bunch of games in for the weekend. You will also find a huge amount of people that have the same interests as you, so its very easy to get along with most people. The shirts are lame, but I guess it's like bowling team shirts for some people.
