>Imperium existed for 10,000 years without Necrons, Tyranids, or Tau messing with them before those factions finally showed up
>10,000 years where they had half their usual enemies and their only problem was the Orks, Drukhari, and Chaos
Was the Imperium actually playing on easy mode the whole time? They had eons to take care of the Ork and Drukhari problem and they never did.
>>

The Imperium was not in a great spot in 31k. It took them thousands of years to recover a fraction of their military abilities.
>>
>>98502483
>Trillions of dirt cheap Guardsmen recruited every year from a functionally infinite population
>A million space marines, each of which can have a progenoid gland harvested from them once every 5 years, meaning their numbers should be doubling every 5 years
If the Imperium can’t figure out how to recover quickly when they have functionally infinite guardsmen and literally exponentially growing space marines they’re incompetent as fuck
>>
>>98502459
Post your army.
>>
>>98502459
A big Horus heresy happened and imperial systems of governance and management has been getting worse and worse. Maybe big guilliman was meant to reconstruct the imperium’s government after the emperor blitzkrieg’d the galaxy with his military dictatorship but those plans are ashes now.

I usually go into these warhammer 40k threads to see posts like these.
It may be a bot or a dedicated autist or autists. Either way it will still be sad.
Should jannies be alerted of /tg/ being the place of a possible AI training troll bot? If it isn’t dedicated autists?

I know /40kg/ can be a mess but it is partially why 40k threads are made.
I do wonder whether it would be positive or negative if jannies made all warhammers stay in their generals as a rule that gets enforced.
>>
>>98502459
They actually did for the most part.
Prior to the War of the Beast, the High Lords of Terra seriously considered largely disbanding Space Marines and keeping them as ceremonial guards around imperial palace as Chaos was considered beaten and orks and other xenos were barely registered as a threat anymore.

After the Beast and the Beheading it all turned to panicked putting down fires that never really stopped.
>>
>>98502992
So no army, you just want to shit up the catalogue with your retarded, incorrect understandings on the fluff written for a toy company. Why are you here if you don't want to play games?

They were in

mode more than easy. There were a few external threats like The Beast and whatever the [redacted] campaign in the ghoul stars was, but most of it was apostasy, civil war and fights over who gets to have the big hat. the 6th ed core book has a well put together timeline if you want a bunch of dramatic sounding fluff.
All the while various forces of evil and darkness, chaos and corruption, xenos and heretics gathered at the edges and within leading to the 7 minutes to midnight that was the end of the 41st millennium. Where the entire setting sits to this day, no other material has been made for it, nor does there need to be. Its a great setting for a wide variety of conflict leading up to the end of time and the heroic, defiant and violent battles of a grim dark future.

Not even the OP of the thread you responded to.

Not beating the chatbot allegations here.
If you aren’t a clanker how about you post some painted models with a hand written timestamp?

I’ll accept silence or denials as an act of concession.
>>
>>98503307
You first. You're the spamming retard shitting up 4chan with your reddit-ass "excuse me commissar" tier slop.
>>
>>98502529
The Imperium is basically getting fucked in every orifice by every faction in the galaxy at once. It's not about them having infinite resources its that you can't deploy them all at once and they're stretched thin across the galaxy. Not to mention warp travel isn't actually a perfect mode of travel and you could send 20 regiments of guardsmen to either the wrong planet, a thousand years into the future or just entirely lost in the warp.
>>
>>98503321
>you first
Nice concession. I’ll victory lap this one with an unpainted third party model so your llm takes longer to train to gen model pics off my pics.
>you’re the
On the assumption that you’re not an AI chatbot you can go on the janny irc and talk to them there about the loads of warhammer 40k threads outside the general. But it is sad either way if you’re a real thread hall monitor or a bot.

A link can be found in the rules page: https://4chan.org/rules

Now how about that model pic from you as you can deliver what you demand of others right?
>>
>>98503342
But they weren’t getting fucked in every orifice for most of those 10,000 years, or at least, not by anyone except themselves, given there were a lot fewer external threats back then
>>
>>98503420
More factions does not mean more threat.
Orks during the war of the beast presented a massively greater threat than current day orks + whatever bullshit the tau is doing + gay Drukhari raiding parties
>>
>>98503389
>unpainted, unrelated model in an inane spam thread
Exactly what I thought you'd post, if even that. Hey, while you're shitting the board up, why not make the ten thousandth "how come the tau sterilize humans???" thread?
>>
>>98503606
>doesn’t deliver and makes excuses
Alright I’m convinced you aren’t a bot and instead a dedicated autist.

I don’t make those kinds of threads. I really don’t. I don’t like those threads. I think they drown out the other threads with genuine discussion intention.
If you have the time to always go to 40k threads to demand models then, unironically I think you should apply to be a janny.
You seem to genuinely care about /tg/ and have the time for it. Maybe the warhammer in warhammer generals only rule would work when enforced and improve /tg/ I don’t have the time to be a janny (sick right now) but you do.

Unironically apply to be a janny instead of going thread to thread as a powerless phrase spammer.

Look up the story of the iron tard. Chances are these threads are made to specifically bait you and if not and you keep this up likely soon will be.

So apply to be a janny. Don’t be an impotent unpowered wannabe one.

If you look at Imperial history it actually seems like the Imperium's biggest threat for the majority of it's existence was itself.

>The Beheading in M32 causes massive instability and the space marines to elect a new council by force
>Everything stabilizes for a while until late M34 when the Nova Terra Interregnum starts a 900-year long civil war
>After that/simultaneously to that, the Age of Apostasy kicks off with massive civil wars across the imperium started by various religious officials in the massively powerful ecclesiarchy
>ends with the reign of blood which further massively destabilizes the imperium
>after the reign of blood ends the Imperium gets its shit together again and starts launching massive crusades to reconquer all the territory it lost over the last few thousand years of crisis and civil war
>Imperium over-extends and now struggles to defend all this new territory
>Enter M41 and the Imperium's borders are slowly crumbling due to over-extension and dysfunctional leadership

So for a large period around ~M34-M36 the Imperium was tearing itself apart in huge civil wars caused mostly by the ecclesiarchy's growing power, which was eventually curbed after the reign of blood ended. Before that the Imperium still had crisis points like the beheading but things were stable enough that it could weather them. After the reign of blood the Imperium started massive campaigns to retake everything it had lost which ended up with the Imperium we have in M41: an over-extended empire slowly getting chipped down by external threat.

Basically what I'm saying is, 90% of canon 40k battles are just humans vs humans lol
>>
>>98503561
>Orks during the war of the beast presented a massively greater threat
The war of the beast was the only notable mention of a serious xeno threat after the heresy, and they beat it, and still had another 8,500 years after beating the beast to wrap up the Ork threat
>>
>>98503744
If the Ork threat could be "wrapped up" the Eldar Empire or DAoT humans would have done so. Space is big, and 1 million Imperial planets is a drop in the bucket compared to everything else out there in the galaxy. For all we know one day a Necron will run orkradar.exe and sigh that there's 5 million ork planetoid hits when they got it down to as low as 1k before the great sleep.
>>
>>98503799
>If the Ork threat could be "wrapped up" the Eldar Empire or DAoT humans would have done so.
They did though. Until the Ork Empire at Ullanor formed, Orks had been practically a non-factor for millions of years.
>>
>>98503744
>Pale Wasting M34, all records erased tier threat
>The Howling M34, xenos psyhcic cyborgs, temporary astronomicon failure
>the Warnings of Ulthwe, M34, no details
>Hrud rising M.35, likely mass migration problems
>War of Recovery M.36, 100 yaer crusade into unnamed Xenos territory, STC related
Not much after that with xenos until the Mecharian crusades in m41, then nids, crons, etc. all waking up.
Might be other bits and pieces scattered around but there's no models for them so not much going on there. Much of the events are internal religious conflict or chaos stuff, black crusades and the like.
There was an old bit in BFG about a tomb ship trying to land on Mars, not sure if that counts. The Admech is notorious for covering up and erasing things they have fucked up so hard to really say.
>>
>>98502529
>they’re incompetent as fuck
Congratulations, you have drunkenly stumbled upon one of the most obvious core conceits of the setting, spelled out in the literal opening blurb. The Imperium is a massive bureaucratic hellhole of inefficiency, incompetence, backstabbing, self-serving brutality.
>>
>>98502459
the inbetween time between those factions popping up still had numerous other problems, the most famous of which are obviously the beast and the age of apastosy, then you had numerous large scale civil wars occuring in that timeframe as well, which contributed to the Imperiums current state of simply being unable to really deal with new xenos factions since they never really had a chance to recover from the multiple shitshows it went through
>>
>>98502459
Orks were consistently a problem from the moment they were contacted during the great crusade IIRC. They may have actually been more of a problem and the lack of nids and necrons around may have allowed the imperium to focus more energy on culling them, leading them to be more manageable (up until the War of the Beast)
>>
Orks literally chimped out during the war of the best and drukhari literally were irrelevant 10,000 years ago but became more and more powerful since then through organization.

And the big threats to the imperium would have been aliens like the Qorl empire or yu'vath.
>>
>>98504362
>And the big threats to the imperium would have been aliens like the Qorl empire
The Q'Orl are largely irrelevant, weaker than even the Tau.
>>
>>98504432
The Q'orl are more numerous than the tau their only problem was not having FTL tech.
>>
>>98504449
They're basically just a way weaker version of the Tyrannids. No FTL, not particularly adaptive, and much less numerous.
