If you could remove one class from the game or merge it with another classwhat would it be
>>98513160Cleric. Magic User is fine, merge and make custom spell lists. If you're playing some sort of dnd with a bunch of different spell casting classes and warlocks and fumblefucks and cuntzappers roll those into one class.
Fighter. Any idiot NPC can swing a sword. A hero should be super powered.
>>98513160Wizard. Warps the rest of the game around it. Should be broken down into multiple specialised magic classes.
>>98513208Shit, two replies in and my answer's taken.
>>98513208>Any idiot NPC can swing a sword.Idk, you sure about that? Lvl1 Townsfolk Midwife can swing a sword, huh?
>>98513160>from the gameWhat game? There is no "the game".
>>98513324Yeah. They won't be good at it, but they can do it.
>>98513208Fighters are super powered though.
>>98513519You lost.
Rouge & Ranger. Call them Scouts or something similar.
>>98513160Gun to the head choice; Ranger.Their singular gimmick is highly underutilized and their primary "job" as a guardian of certain places is hardly reflected in their class flavor and having an animal companion is something you could despense with a feat.Into the blender it goes and Fighter and Rogue can drink and share the resulting smoothy.
Bards. You all know why.
>>98513160Jannies.
>>98513208all martial classes should be fighter
Barbarian. I'd also be happy with just changing the name to berserker or something. A playstyle should not be tied to an ultra specific backstory. >but you can just have whatever backstory you want for your barbarian!Correct, I'm doing that right now. But if we can do that, then why does the class have to be called Barbarian? It's really not that important, it just annoys me and my autism. Same with monks
>>98513160Most purist/specialist classes. It makes no sense in a world of magic that other classes wouldn't also use it. it makes no sense that some average magic dude would rely solely on magic alone. Some level is multiclassing is the norm, specialists are actually very rare or only happen in instances where they are forced to a certain role.
>>98514571Monks are an issue. I like old wuxia movies, I like the concept they are going for. But when people hear monk they imagine either a priest or a japanese bhudist. It's not an active pop culture reference, obviously very few people will understand what they're going for without explaining a ton of shit they might have no clue about.Call them martial artists.
>>98513575So you think somebody who starts training with a sword specifically to fight things is...? What class? I don't think learning the basics makes them a Scholar yet.
>>98514720Look, dude, don't get into leftist discourse.
>>98513160Delete artificer
>>98513160Monk and Cleric hybrid for theme if nothing else.
>>98513160>5e is impliedRemove paladin and merge it with clericRemove bard completelyRemove rogue and monk and put it in fighter>>98513694Anon, there is a class called scout in not 5e...
>>98513160not /tg/ related but i really hate the rogue kiting faggots from WoW and SWTOR that abuse the game engine's inability to auto-target enemies you're not currently facing. this kind of class made specifically just to fuck with keyboard turners. they need to be taken out back and shot.
>>98514571Barbarian would be more interesting if they had different reasons why they "rage"The Wilder has nothing to do with Barbarian but it was, in essence, a psionic barbarian with it's own "rage". An easy port that could be slapped onto Barbarian. What if you were possessed by something that wasn't a faggy nature spirit and having it inside of you not only gave you access to some of it's powers but caused you to rage as well?We have so many different options to work with and the only thing they go for is rage of nature or some shit.
>>98513208Best in slot weapon for NPC townshitters is a crossbow or a gun, try again.
>>98514720>So you think somebody who starts training with a sword specifically to fight things is...? What class?Warrior, weaponmaster if there's a separate class for unarmed brawling like Monk
>>98515766>his kind of class made specifically just to fuck with keyboard turnersAdapt or die, n00b>this post brought to you by mouse turner gang
>>98514720>So you think somebody who starts training with a sword specifically to fight things is...NPC material.
>>98515793>so many different options to work with* Trickster spirits give you short range teleportation and increasing % miss chance - halfling barbarians back in the game* Spirit of War wants to see you fight 1v1s, chose a target and you and he gain huge damage debuffs against everyone else.* Demonic forces give you an alt form with claws and thick hide and shit* Shades from the Other Side give you undead type immunities and resistances, plus fear aura* Elemental spirits imbue your attacks with bonus damage and you with energy resistance* Far Realm spirits give you madness-inducing aura and weird shoggoth powers
>>98513160Merging makes more sense than outright removal, because it's a world where materials and creatures are inherently magical.1. Get rid of casters and the master spell list.2. Rework the classes to be able to engage with one or two major mechanics and a handful of minor mechanics. Give them unique ways of handling them, instead of giving all of them "this many per short/long rest."3. Make sure no singular option is the one correct answer; it's a game, and one reflecting a living world, so each option should account for that living world accordingly.4. Then, give each class it's own kind of magic that synergizes with its role.5. Give each class "gestalt combos" that involve other characters for cool united tactics, greater than the sum of both parts. That's what I'd do.
>>98513160Every class that isn't Cleric, Fighter, Thief, Magic User. Do you really need more?
>>98516440If you go down that route, you quickly find the optimal number of classes is zero.
>>98516457
>>98515793anon, that's just a man with tits. real muscle girls won't change their frame by working out.
>>98513160From what? D&D? I don't play that dogshit I run homebrew. If I had to pick one to remove from the D&D and the collective conscious though, it'd be Monk. It has no place whatsoever in a typical group and was shoehorned in by Blume the NARPing faggot.Close seconds are Ranger and Bard.
>>98513160Remove brujah from vtm. They're only for people to larp as revolutionaries.
>>98513160I'd merge Fighter and Paladin, and make Paladins a subclass of fighter. Because that's what they are.
>>98513160I would remove the Fartpuncher and just merge it with Pukemancer. OR MAYBE YOU COULD SAY WHAT FUCKING GAME, OP.
>>98513208This is not a class issue, this is a "DM wants Fighter to be Batman" issue.
>>98517507Your twig is nothing.
I… I don’t understand the difference between a wizard and a sorcerer and at this point I’m afraid to ask
>>98524109A wizard is the kid that studies to ace the test, the sorcerer is the kid who read the book once and remembers enough to get a better grade than the wizard anyway. Effort vs talent.
>>98513160what game?
dear 5E players who are starting to perceive the many ways in which 5E is fucked: there is a system for you
